----
'''Examples from the movie go [[YMMV/EdEddNEddysBigPictureShow here]]'''

* AccidentalInnuendo (though considering [[CartoonNetwork the channel it's on]], it might not be accidental):
** In the episode "The Ed-Touchables" lines like "There's a serial toucher on the loose!" have some very [[PedoHunt unfortunate implications]] if taken out of context.
** Double D's name alone can be an innuendo.
** ''An Ed In A Bush'':
--->'''Sarah:''' Mom says to come out of the closet, Ed.
* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation:
** Is Ed LethallyStupid, a CloudCuckoolander with a different way of thinking, or ObfuscatingStupidity? There's evidence for all three theories.
** Does Jimmy framing the Eds just because he was wedgied prove his threshold towards being humiliated or has he had [[WhosLaughingNow enough of being abused all the time]]?
** Kankers are very prone to this, due to their canon {{flat|Character}}ness. Are they just bullies tormenting everyone for kicks, or is it a JerkassFacade, built because of (implied) abuse and poverty they had faced earlier in their lives? Do they care about the Eds, and if yes, to what extent?
** Is Plank evil (and alive) or just a piece of wood who only lives in Johnny's head?
** Is Edd gay, bisexual, or is he just socially awkward? Is he naturally girly or did his parents raise him that way deliberately as a means to control him?
** Is Eddy the most generous kid in town? Whenever he gets money the first thing he thinks of are his friends, and that's why he scams. The other kids have money, even his friends, but won't buckle in a cent no matter the circumstance.
** Is his brother a simple case of [[spoiler:JerkAss bully older brother]] or an [[spoiler:abuser]] or [[spoiler: '''worse''']]? Are either Edd, Jimmy or Ed gay?
** Whatever is underneath Edd's hat and why he hides it is an alternate character interpretation in itself.
** Some fans say that Edd has a severe case of psoriasis on his scalp. For some reason, it only affects his scalp, and he hates people staring at the swollen pink blotches and grayish scales the disease causes, so he wears a hat to hide them. Ed thinks the blotches and scales look cool, being a monster movie fan, and says so when Edd's hat is pulled off by a ceiling fan.
** Is Edd ''really'' the show's OnlySaneMan? He's TheIdealist in contrast to Eddy, who's TheCynic. Now unlike most cartoons, this show is a CrapsackWorld that runs on GreyAndGrayMorality, which would put it on the cynical end of the SlidingScaleofIdealismVersusCynicism. Eddy, being TheCynic, is aware of this, which would make ''him'' the OnlySaneMan.
* AngelDevilShipping: Edd/Marie: the TokenGoodTeammate and his StalkerWithACrush.
* AwesomeMusic: The entire score to the show could qualify. It's composed entirely of energetic, free-form jazz.
* AwesomeEgo: Eddy and Kevin.
* BaseBreaker:
** Eddy is either a NotEvilJustMisunderstood LoveableRogue or a selfish {{Jerkass}} who abuses two guys (Ed and Edd) that need to ditch him.
** Nazz has a broken shipping base with fans pairing her up with various kids and haters claiming she is just -- or decayed into -- a DumbBlonde stereotype (despite May also fitting this role) who doesn't deserve to be with anyone.
** The Kanker sisters, between those who pair them up with the Eds and those who just find them annoying and hate them for being all one-note characters whose only use is a G-Rated rape joke, a PlotDevice to make the Eds' life even more miserable and generally end as a KarmaHoudini despite everything they do.
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: The ending of "Dear Ed", where Jimmy and the Eds end up having their own personal dance party, complete with a 70s-esque disco song playing in the background. Even funnier when listening to the scene with the French audio track on DVD - Eddy's wooping sounds like he's being probed in his anus. Doubles as a GainaxEnding.
** Also during the holiday special ''Ed, Edd n Eddy's Jingle Jingle Jangle'' when Eddy foes into Rolf's house, he's roped into [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kG-xi6Mx5i0 a complete mindfuck of a song.]]
* BrokenBase:
** ''If It Smells Like An Ed'', full stop. There are fans that either hate it for being the cruelest blow to the Eds ever, or consider it among their list of favorites for being the first half-hour episode in the series and have elements of DetectiveDrama.
** "A Fistful Of Ed". Some fans think it's one of the most sadistic episodes ever and hate it for being overly [[BreakTheCutie mean-spirited]] towards the totally innocent [[TheWoobie Edd]], the hardcore scenes of violence and Eddy's obnoxiousness. Others fans like/love it for exploring more seriously Edd's CharacterDepth, the emotional scenes, and the BittersweetEnding (with Eddy actually standing up for Edd and saving the day).
** The later seasons had the kids attending school. Some fans thought it was a refreshing change of pace, others thought it was the series JumpingTheShark.
** The 2013 Kevedd craze polarized the fandom. Everyone either writes a Kevedd fic or makes a jab at them.
* BizarroEpisode: "[[Recap/EdEddnEddyS2E4OnePlusOneEqualsEd One + One = Ed"]]" is where the series officially [[NoFourthWall proves that the fourth wall can't stop them from messing with the laws of physics]]
* CargoShip: Jonny and Plank, of course.
** Kevin and his bike, especially in [[WesternAnimation/EdEddNEddysBigPictureShow the BPS]].
* CrackPairing:
** Edd/Kevin ([[PortmanteauCoupleName Kevedd]]) is incredibly popular, despite them being total opposites and that there's no ShipTease / HoYay between them on the show. True, Kevin seems to like Double D a little more than Ed and Eddy (like ''everyone else'', including Sarah), but there are still only three scenes where he's friendly to him in the entire show.
** Nazz/Marie, which seems to exist [[GirlOnGirlIsHot to pair two of the prettiest girls in the show]]. Especially since the two of them have never had a non-hostile interaction on screen, and the Kankers in general regard Nazz as a hussie who's out to steal their boyfriends.
** In-universe from The Valentine's Day episode we have: Edd/May, Kevin/Lee, Jonny/Nazz, [[CargoShip Eddy/Plank]], [[CargoShip Ed/a sandwich]].
* CrazyAwesome: Ed and Rolf. The two of them would not only be not half as entertaining without their kookiness, but they'd probably be incapable of ''functioning'' without it too.
* CreepyAwesome: [[CloudCuckooLander Jonny]] is easily the creepiest character of the cast, but it can make him quite funny.
* DarknessInducedAudienceApathy: Due to being a SadistShow.
* DesignatedHero: The kids may be {{Hero Antagonist}}s, but their actions make them come off more or less like bullies. [[GreyAndGrayMorality The Eds themselves are no saints either]] (this is especially true with Eddy), but they would torment them for little to no reason whatsoever.
* DesignatedVillain: Ed, Edd, Eddy (sometimes, in some episodes when the kids are mean to him for no reason), Jimmy (In the episode "If It Smells Like An Ed").
* DracoInLeatherPants: The series runs on GreyAndGrayMorality, but fans tend to overlook their favourites' flaws. Specific examples include:
** May is seen as a sympathetic Woobie and the TokenGoodTeammate of the Kankers from more than a few fans. True, being the youngest of Kankers she usually gets the short end of the stick when fighting her sisters, but when it comes to treating other people, she's as cruel as them. Yet, some people would rather believe she wouldn't hurt a fly and she's just oppressed by Marie and Lee [[RonTheDeathEater (who, for fic's sake, gain several levels in jerkass)]].
** Marie, being the most beautiful Kanker, usually gets the free pass from fandom, alternatively given a FreudianExcuse, similar to May's example above.
** Kevin falls victim to this as well. {{Downplayed|Trope}}, seeing as he isn't a straight-up villain, just a jerk.
* DudeNotFunny:
** In the episode "Your Ed Here", Kevin blackmails Eddy into doing embarrassing things like dressing up like Jimmy, acting like a seal, making him look like he wet himself with a water gun, and kiss Edd in order for the other kids to not know his [[EmbarrassingMiddleName middle name]]. Despite Eddy doing everything Kevin tells him to do, [[TookALevelInJerkass Kevin STILL tells everybody Eddy's middle name]]. Then when Double D tries to cheer Eddy up by telling him ''his'' embarassing middle name, Eddy becomes a ''major'' {{hypocrite}} and UngratefulBastard by ''shouting it out to the entire neighborhood!''
** Another episode "Smile for the Ed", where once again, Kevin humiliates Eddy for nothing. To make matters worse, he and the other kids get off scot free for humiliating and tormenting Eddy - who ends up getting punished for impersonating the principal (which Double D actually did ''to help Eddy'').
** The Good, The Bad, and The Ed; where Eddy faces Rolf in a series of physically painful challenges (including a scene where his leg [[{{squick}} swells up to the size of a melon]]). He fails to win any respect despite enduring the same amount of pain that Rolf did, just because of fainting one second before him. Insulting enough on his own, the fact that he receives a "crybaby" badge ''after everything he went through'' takes it too far.
** The Kanker sisters' endless BlackComedyRape / DoubleStandardAbuseFemaleOnMale.
* EarWorm: The theme song, which is a nice mix of jazz and whistling
** When you stub your toe and it hurts you know, FRIENDS ARE THERE TO HELP YOU.
* EnsembleDarkhorse:
** Marie - she has a much larger fanbase than any other Kanker, and possibly, any other female character in the show, probably because she dresses like a punk rocker.
** [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} Jonny]] and [[CompanionCube Plank]]. Especially Plank! Most people when talking about this show rememeber and mention Plank and he's not even a real character.
** [[FunnyForeigner Rolf]] is also one, mainly because he's one of the few kids who's actually fairly nice to the Eds...unless they scam him. He also tends to be CrazyAwesome.
* EpilepticTrees:
** Ever wonder what's under Double D's hat? Not even the creators know.
** Yes, they do, and cut TheReveal from the movie after realizing that nothing they could think of would live up to the fans' expectations. In other words, a textbook NoodleIncident. They had the same problem trying to name Eddy's brother. [[spoiler: They apparently decided to name him Matthew.]]
** Ed and Eddy make comments about it now and then though. They were shocked when they finally got a good look at what was under the hat in the movie, and they asked Edd if it [[BodyHorror "hurt when he got that."]]
* EveryoneIsJesusInPurgatory: One of the popular fan theories state that all of the characters are dead and the cul-de-sac is actually a purgatory, with Kankers as the guardians. See [[WMG/EdEddNEddy the WMG page]] for details.
* EvilIsSexy: Marie Kanker, due to her position as an EnsembleDarkhorse, despite not being intentionally designed as such.
** [[SelfFanservice When it comes to fanarts]], all three Kankers. And Eddy, to an extent, of the TroubledButCute and LovableRogue variety.
* FandomSpecificPlot:
** [=Reverse!KevEdd=]: with Edd as a jock/bully and Kevin as a nerd. Started by [[Webcomic/AUReverse a comic on Tumblr]] and gained a lot of popularity.
** Eds snapping and going on a killing spree is quite a common theme in [=EEnE=] {{Dark Fic}}s.
** So is giving the characters some sort of stock superpower.
** Crossovers are also incredibly common.
* FanficFuel: Kankers' backstory (why they are evil, what happened before they moved to Peach Creek, their father(s) etc.).
* {{Fanon}}: Double D is usually portrayed as blond in fan-works. When he's not blond he typically has black hair (or very long black hair, especially in teenage+ years). Eddy's hair is either black or blue. Ed's usually portrayed as a redhead, or otherwise, more rarely, with brown hair (him being redheaded is canon since in one episode, when he combed his hair, it turned out to be red).
** Eddy's surname is either [=McGee=] or Verra ("Eddy [=McGee=]" is used in-universe by Ed in a couple of episodes but it can hardly be considered canon).
** Fanfic writers have been giving Edd and Kevin surnames [[TheDanza Vincent and Barr]] respectively.
** Jimmy ''is'' gay as far as fans are concerned, despite him having a crush on Sarah is canon.
* FanPreferredCouple:
** While the [[CrackPairing Kevin/Edd]] pairing always had a fanbase, in spring 2013 it became ''extremely'' popular.
** With the above [=KevEdd=] craze [[PairTheSpares Nazz/Marie]] slowly becomes this.
** Edd/Eddy and Edd/Marie used to be the most popular ships, but lost popularity in favour of Kevedd. They still have their fans though, especially Edd/Eddy, as most Edd fans ship him with both Eddy and Kevin.
** A good amount of people, particularly the ones who prefer May Kanker over her sister Marie, seem to love Edd/May [[LauncherOfAThousandShips (noticing the pattern?)]], due to their ShipTease in the Valentines' Day special.
* FoeYay:
** There's some subtext between [[SitcomArchNemesis Eddy and Kevin]].
** Possibly Eddy and Sarah as well.
** The Kankers and the Eds, especially as a few episodes show that the Eds could really get rid of them if they actually tried; "A Twist of Ed", the Eds flip the situation around and end up being StalkersWithACrush for the Kankers, and they seem genuinely disgusted until they work out what the Eds are doing. Ed manages to get them all stuck in a measuring jug in "Mommas Little Ed" and in "A Fistful of Ed", Eddy yells at them to leave them alone and they do it without hesitation.
* FountainOfMemes: Ed and his random non sequiturs.
* GeniusBonus: Rolf's "Direct me to your music box." Is funnier when you know that [[SpySpeak "Music Box" used to be spy code for "Radio".]]
** The soundtrack is also surprisingly sophisticated, being performed by a jazz orchestra and containing themes for each character, variations and combinations of said themes, and key transposition. The only thing most people will pick up on is that when Johnny's on screen, you hear a loud TOCK TOCK TOCK TOCK.
* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: The show is really popular in Scandinavia, still frequently airing the reruns on CN and absolutely everything the show has made is dubbed. To boot, it's pretty hard to find a person there who doesn't at least ''know'' what the show is.
* GodModeSue[=/=]VillainSue: Kankers. They almost always succeed in whatever they plan, especially if they want to torment the Eds. Unlike everybody else, they ''never'' got any serious comeuppance for their misdeeds, even in the Movie.
* GrowingTheBeard: While the first season ''is'' considered one of the most popular seasons of the show, the second season gave way for CharacterDevelopment and cleaner-looking animation (come the time they went to high school, the animation was as smooth as it is in the opening credits.)
* HarsherInHindsight[=/=]FunnyAneurysmMoment: A few lines are either one after the GrandFinale.
** In the very first episode.
-->'''Edd:''' Should we feel guilty about Jonny's predicament?\\
'''Eddy:''' Nah! You know what they say: [[MiseryBuildsCharacter a little childhood trauma builds character]].
** In "Ed... Pass it On", the kids seem thoroughly terrified of Eddy's brother, including Eddy at the end of the episode. Come TheMovie, we now know there was a ''good reason'' for them to be terrified.
** "Ed In a Halfshell" involved Eddy being pretty mean to Jimmy ([[RunningGag and wedgying him repeatedly]]) to teach him how to be an effective scammer. When Ed and Edd call him out on this, Eddy retorts that he's just teaching Jimmy the way ''he'' was taught by his brother.
** "An Ed is Born":
-->'''Eddy:''' "No more beatin' up little Eddy, eh, big brother?"
** Certain episodes can fall under this after watching WesternAnimation/EdEddNEddysBigPictureShow. [[spoiler:Learning that Eddy was only [[JerkassFacade pretending to be a jerk]] to earn friendship after years of abuse from his brother, it is legitimately hard to watch episodes like "Smile for the Ed", "The Good, the Bad and the Ed", etc.]]
* HellIsThatNoise: When Jonny cracks his fingers in "Sho-Ed", also in universe.
** Also, when Nazz (badly) plays the tuba in one episode.
* HilariousInHindsight: [[VideoGame/HotelMario "Toast doesn't go in a toaster, bread does."]]
** Eddy thinking [[ThePenguinsOfMadagascar Skipper]] is an EmbarrassingMiddleName
** Rolf [[{{VideoGame/Minecraft}} riding a pig using a carrot on a rod]].
** Five years after the first episode, [[WebAnimation/{{Eddsworld}} another slapstick cartoon with main character named Edd, with two D's, began its run.]]
** For some fans, all the injuries and horrible things that happen to Jimmy and Kevin become much more satisfying after seeing "If It Smells Like an Ed" and "Your Ed Here," respectively.
** The episode ''Urban Ed'' had a scene where Nazz uses a Karate move on Edd. Over a decade later, ErinFitzgerald, [[TheOtherDarrin one of her voice actresses]], would later voice [[PersonaFour Chie Satonaka]].
* HoYay: [[HoYay/EdEddNEddy An entire page for it]].
* IdiotPlot: If the kids just never listened to the Eds' scamming announcements, half of the show's plots could have been avoided.
* IKnewIt: Some fans accurately guessed [[spoiler:that Eddy's Brother would appear in the movie and be the antagonist.]]
* IronWoobie: Eddy has the the most traumatic situation than Ed and Edd '''combined'''. [[spoiler: In the movie, it's revealed that his brother is an AxCrazy, [[TheSociopath sociopathic]] JerkWithAHeartOfJerk who abused/tormented Eddy ''all his life'', made worse by the fact that his parents didn't do a damn thing about it. Maybe [[ParentalObliviousness they didn't know]], but it seemed far too obvious to be held out for so long. They also seem to exclusively punish him for his behaviour and bad grades in school, instead of helping him. Also, after watching the movie, and knowing the sad truth of how much [[BreakTheCutie shit he had to go through]], [[TearJerker it gives you a heartache to watch earlier episodes]], where he was awfully humiliated ("To Sir With Ed" comes to mind...). Seriously, it's just painful to watch. If he hadn't have Ed and Edd as his friends all this time, he would be one of the biggest, and saddest, mental wrecks in cartoon history.]]
* JerkassWoobie:
** Eddy. Yes, a lot of times he deserves punishment, but he's cruelly humiliated or beaten in pretty much every episode, even when he apparently does nothing wrong ("To Sir with Ed", "Smile For The Ed", "X Marks the Ed", "Your Ed Here"..).[[spoiler: UpToEleven when the movie gives him HiddenDepths and a FreudianExcuse: he had to deal with years of abuse from his older brother, and his parents did ''nothing'' to stop him.]]
** ''Sarah'' of all people, is this in "For Your Ed Only," when she finds her room destroyed and she's genuinely sad and cries to Jimmy. Kevin also briefly becomes this in "This Won't Hurt an Ed".
** May, being the most naive Kanker and often picked on by her older sisters. UpToEleven in the Valentines' Day special.
** All three of the Kankers [[AlternativeCharacterInterpretation could]] fall into this. Yes, they are temperamental, possessive, rude and unhygienic, but there have been moments that show they DO care for each other. They have barely any physical traits in common and it's heavily implied their mother ReallyGetsAround and they have three different dads who aren't around anymore, so as such they latched on to the Eds because that's all they know how to do. Notably, after spending most of the series violently pursuing them, the Movie shows them actually doing their best to protect the Eds from the wrath of the rest of the cul-de-sac; it can be inferred that dubious ways of going about it, they do genuinely have feelings for the Eds.
*** Ironically enough, their first appearance ("Nagged to Ed") didn't portray them very negatively, as while they did scare the hell out of the Eds and exchanged their clothes with their dads' robes, they at least showed genuine care and kindness towards the Eds, without trying to make them ''too'' uncomfortable (NOTHING compared to what they do later on in the series.)
* JerkSue: Kevin and Sarah have frequent moments of this.
** Eddy, being despised by everyone but his friends, is an interesting variation. Ed and Edd remain loyal to him, even if it means getting involved in yet another doomed-to-fail scheme, being treated like shit (''Brother, Can You Spare An Ed?'', for example) and getting punished for their involvement.
* LauncherOfAThousandShips:
** Double D being the most popular character. Shipped with everyone but Plank and [[{{Gonk}} Lee]] at least once. Yes, even Eddy's Brother. Over half of the shipping fics include him.
** To a lesser extent there are: Nazz (shipped with Kevin, Edd, Eddy and Marie), Kevin (shipped with Nazz, Edd, Eddy and Rolf) and Eddy (shipped with Edd, Kevin, Lee, Marie and, sometimes, Sarah).
* MagnificentBastard: Double D's reaction to the revelation that Jimmy was behind everything in "If It Smells Like An Ed" is basically to call Jimmy this, being impressed rather than angry like Eddy is.
** Double D gets a chance to be one as well in "Mission Ed-Possible" when he tricks Ed and Eddy into pursuing him to regain their report cards while Rolf, on Double D's instructions, secretly delivers said report cards to their parents.
* MemeticBadass: Eddy's Brother, at least before TheMovie came along...
* MemeticMolester: The Kanker sisters.
* MemeticMutation: [[Memes/EdEddNEddy Has its own page]].
* MemeticSexGod: Double D, by virtue of [[LauncherOfAThousandShips being shipped with everyone.]]
* MisaimedFandom:
** While Edd is smart, sane and problably the most sympathetic character in the show, fangirls tend to crank his positive qualities UpToEleven and turn him into a MartyStu, totally forgetting about his flaws (SuperOCD, physical weakness, judgmental nature, [[DramaQueen nagging]] and [[SeriousBusiness overreacting]] tendencies, [[ExtremeDoormat lack of spine]] etc.). Also, some fans act like he ''never'' did anything wrong and think that every other character in the show is either a {{jerkass}} or [[TheDitz a moron]]. Some people hate him for this exact reason.
** A lot of fans tend to blame all of May and Marie's shenanigans on [[TheScrappy Lee's]] toxic influence. [[SarcasmMode Because the former are forced to torment the Eds by her, don't enjoy it at all, and have no conscience and free will to know better.]]
** Fans will also demonize the neighborhood kids for their disdain towards the Eds, forgetting that the Eds sometimes provoke the kids into acting hostile. Granted the kids aren't that innocent either, but fans would portray the Eds as victims in almost every situation, even when it ''is'' the Eds' fault.
* {{Moe}}: The utterly sweet and {{Adorkable}} Edd, full stop. Nazz can qualify too.
* NeverLiveItDown: Jimmy's EvilPlan in ''If It Smells Like An Ed''.
** Also, Kevin blackmailing Eddy in "Your Ed Here."
** Nazz humiliating Eddy in "To Sir With Ed."
* SugarWiki/NoProblemWithLicensedGames: ''Ed, Edd n Eddy: The Mis-Edventures'' is actually a respectable video game adaptation of the show, emulating the look, feel and humor of the show successfully, mixed with some fun gameplay.
* OneTrueThreesome: [[HoYay Ed/Edd/Eddy]], [=Marie/Edd/Eddy=], [=Kevin/Edd/Eddy=].
* PortmanteauCoupleName: Kevedd (Kevin/Edd), Nazarie (Nazz/Marie).
* RefugeInAudacity: Even for this show, some moments and implications are so cartoonishly violent that they go from DudeNotFunny to CrossingTheLineTwice. Some examples: the Kanker sisters setting up an elaborate trap to marry the Eds using a toy train and a haunted house in "Honor Thy Ed," the house collapsing after Ed breaks the support beam (because he's tied to it) in "Rent-A-Ed," and Sarah taking Nazz out with a car (as in "She picks up an actual-sized car and throws it at her").
* RonTheDeathEater:
** Jimmy gets this most of the time. While he has some BitchInSheepsClothing tendencies (like most characters at some point), he is for the most part just a sensitive, gentle little boy. Yet fans still demonize him mostly because of the infamous "If It Smells Like An Ed" episode.
** Eddy gets hit with it a lot. Granted, he isn't exactly a saint, but lots of fans demonize him to make Edd look better in comparison. Also, Kevedd writers usually portray him as a homophobe.
** Lee, being the least liked Kanker, gets hit with it as well, usually being portrayed as outright abusive towards her sisters, or at the very least worse than them. Marie is hit by this as well whenever May's the fic's protagonist.
** In [[SturgeonsLaw 90%]] of Edd/Marie fics Nazz is portrayed as either [[ReallyGetsAround a slut,]] an AlphaBitch, or both.
** Kevin, who gets derailed into a flat JerkJock whenever he isn't shipped at the moment.
* RootingForTheEmpire: Eddy is disliked by pretty much everyone InUniverse for his scams and bullying (at least until the movie, when the other kids found out that Eddy's brother was worse than him in terms of bullying others). Yet many fans support him as opposed to the kids.
* SelfFanservice:
** The main trio get a lot of this, especially [[ChickMagnet E]][[MrFanservice d]][[LauncherOfAThousandShips d]].
** The Kankers sometimes, especially [[EvilIsSexy Ma]][[EnsembleDarkHorse rie]].
** Surprisingly Kevin is also getting this treatment recently.
** Sarah and Jimmy get this in many deviantart works, despite not being liked that much in the fandom.
* ShipMates: Edd/Kevin and Marie/Nazz shippers tend to get along pretty well.
* ShipsThatPassInTheNight: Nazz[=/=]Marie is the most popular girl[=/=]girl shipping, despite those two hardly interacting with each other. Kevin[=/=]Edd also could qualify.
* ShipToShipCombat: Edd[=/=]Marie vs Kevedd. Supporters of the former have a very negative opinion about the latter.
* TakeThatScrappy:
** We have Ed (in a seriously bad mood due to [[spoiler:a rock in his shoe]]) throwing everyone out of his garage. When Sarah yells at him:
-->'''Sarah:''' You can't kick me out! I live here too!
--> {{Beat}}
-->'''Ed:''' '''SO MOVE!'''
** Also many people liked Ed beating up Sarah when he thinks she's a vampire in "Boo Haw Haw". Same for the other kids. It would have been a good special if Edd and Eddy didn't get unfairly punished at the end.
** In "Once Upon an Ed", post-radioactive-potato-eating May (who's about 200 feet tall) steps on the ground and causes Sarah to fly away.
** A livid Ed beats up Kevin in "Little Ed Blue" for [[BullyingADragon deliberately pitching a baseball off his head repeatedly to annoy him.]]
* TheScrappy:
** Sarah, for being unnecessarily cruel to the Eds and receiving almost no comeuppance for her wrongdoings.
** Lee is the Kanker who gets the most hate and is generally considered the ugliest of the trio. Both her sisters, especially [[EnsembleDarkhorse Marie]], are more popular, see DracoInLeatherPants above.
** Jimmy sometimes gets this for acting "sissy & girly" and for his infamous scheme he pulled on the Eds. Also, it doesn't help that he was flanderized with occasional jerkass ball moments in the later seasons causing him to be on this list.
** Don't forget [[JerkJock Kevin]]. He is disliked for being a total {{Jerkass}} to the Eds even when they aren't doing anything to him ("Your Ed Here", "Smile For the Ed"), as well as being a real KarmaHoudini and treated as a JerkSue by the other kids. Granted, he usually has a [[JerkassHasAPoint good reason to hate the Eds]], but other times his [[ForTheEvulz cruel tendencies]] is cranked UpToEleven.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: The thought of Jimmy getting revenge against Eddy and devising a wonderfully complex plan to do so in "If It Smells Like An Ed" admittedly was a pretty cool concept, combined with the interesting detective elements. The main problem with the episode was that his revenge [[DisproportionateRetribution went way too far]], as well as the fact that ''all three'' of the Eds were victimized.
* UglyCute: Everybody is this to some extent due to the art style, but May is the most evident example.
* UnpopularPopularCharacter:
** While his [[LethallyStupid nearly-lethal idiocy]] annoys nearly everybody in-universe and it's implied that not even his family [[TheUnfavourite likes him that much]], Ed is loved for being so stupid and providing a lot of memes and comedy.
** Zig-zagged with Double D. He's the most liked Ed in fandom, but in-universe as well: the other kids only apparently dislike him because he hangs out with Eddy, but still respect him more than the other Eds. He's also the biggest ChickMagnet in the show and of course he has plenty of fangirls in real life.
** Eddy is the most straight-up example of the three. Nearly everyone in the show hates him, yet a lot of fans like him or at least sympathize with him.
** [[EnsembleDarkhorse Marie]] is this as well. While everybody but her sisters fears or loathes her, she's one of the most popular females in this show. And despite her AbhorrentAdmirer status on the show, plenty of male fans find her more attractive than the resident hottie [[HelloNurse Nazz]]. The same applies to May, to a lesser extent.
** Jonny also qualifies, because even though he is liked more than the Eds, he is still not liked as much by the other kids either.
** Inverted with Kevin, though. Kevin, InUniverse, is very popular with the Cul De Sac kids , but is the third most [[TheScrappy despised and unpopular character in the fandom.]]
* UrbanLegend: One surfaced as early as 2001 about an infamous MissingEpisode known only as "The Scarecrow Boy Episode." The story goes Sarah puts on a play - her own version of ''Film/TheWizardOfOz'' - casting herself as Dorothy, Jimmy as the Tin Man, Eddy as the Cowardly Lion (apparently he was also tied to a chair the whole time because he kept trying to walk out on Sarah so much), Ed as the Scarecrow, and Double D as the director. Sarah becomes outraged with Ed continuously blowing his lines, and ends up kicking and locking him out of the house (while still in costume); when Kevin and other kids in the cul-de-sac see Ed roaming around, they keep calling him "Scarecrow Boy," which somehow causes Ed to grow stiffer and stiffer everytime he hears the name. Eventually, the episode ends with Plank nestled into the ground, and Ed standing ontop with his arms straight out, as if he has become a real Scarecrow Boy. There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that remotely proves such an episode exists, though many fans swear to have seen it, and that it only aired once, which gives it its UrbanLegend status.
** Another lesser-known one has it another MissingEpisode dealt with Ed getting a new pet turtle, that turns out to be possessed. Interestingly, one of the show's storyboard artists had actually posted a series of doodles involving Ed with a turtle and said turtle attacking him on Website/DeviantART, but the artist has since put the deviation into storage.
* {{Wangst}}: Eddy's middle name.
** Edd and Sarah overreacting over their lost items in the first episode... and finding them at the end.
** Sarah bawling over her lost earring in "High-Heeled Ed."
** Ed being in a bad mood over a pebble in his shoe.
** Jimmy bawling and whining as if his foot was broken...When it only got slightly grazed by a clothespin in "Cry Ed".
* WhatAnIdiot: [[WhatAnIdiot/EdEddNEddy Enough to deserve its own page]].
* TheWoobie:
** Ed has to put up with his little sister's crap. He also has to deal with a father who doesn't give a care about him, and a mother who spoils said little sister rotten while treating Ed like crap. Not only that, but despite Ed being clearly too dumb to tell the difference between right and wrong, his mother still punishes him just for being too loyal a friend to not go along with Eddy's scams. Meanwhile, she lets Sarah, who routinely beats up other kids, including Ed himself, get off scot free.
** Edd, compared to the other two Eds, is polite, meek and sensitive, but usually suffers no less. Although his parents seem to be relatively normal, they're never there for him, communicating exclusively through sticky notes and leaving him to do all the houserwork while they're off doing their jobs, presumably. He is also often given penalties along with Ed and Eddy, even if he hasn't done a damn thing to deserve it.
** Eddy becomes a full-fledged Woobie in the movie (see IronWoobie above). Before [[WesternAnimation/EdEddNEddysBigPictureShow the BPS]], he was a JerkassWoobie.
** Jimmy, the youngest, most [[FragileFlower delicate and sensitive]] character, is the biggest ButtMonkey and slapstick magnet on the show and also gets a few BreakTheCutie moments. At least Sarah is always with him.
** Jonny sometimes becomes this like in the pilot episode and "Dear Ed." Even more so after watching [[spoiler: the end of the movie...]]
** Rolf in "Wish You Were Ed". He's also a WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds in "No Speak Da Ed", as he gets a ton of traumatic flashbacks of some awful feud that happened in his childhood.
* {{Woolseyism}}: In "Fa-la-la-la Ed", Ed thinks it's Christmas in the middle of July, and everyone is surprised at his calculation. In Swedish, Christmas is "Jul" and July is "Juli", with the same pronunciation on the "jul" word ("you-l"). So, it's ''really'' fitting in the Swedish dub, where instead of confused, they seem to rather understand Ed's calculation from the words, and just thought it weird but expected from a random guy like him.
