* AwardSnub:
** A rather significant chunk of people are willing to contest this film's UsefulNotes/AcademyAward win over ''Film/DoTheRightThing'', to the point where mentioning ''Driving Miss Daisy'' is a bit of a BerserkButton for ''Do the Right Thing''[='s=] director and lead actor Creator/SpikeLee. When Lee's later film, ''Film/BlacKkKlansman'', lost Best Picture to ''Film/GreenBook'' in the 2018 UsefulNotes/{{Academy Award}}s, many critics (and Lee himself) saw it as history repeating itself.
** Of the Oscars it was nominated for, shockingly, Music/HansZimmer's score was not nominated. Two of the nominated films, ''WesternAnimation/TheLittleMermaid1989'' (which won) and ''Film/TheFabulousBakerBoys'' had memorable ''songs'', but their scores are largely forgotten.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: Do you expect anything less from Music/HansZimmer? Zimmer played every note of the score himself on synthesizers and it's easily one of the best all-electronic movies scores ever.
* MisaimedFandom: The play and film weren't entirely about race relations, they were about growing old.
