* ArcFatigue: One of the biggest complaints about the comic is how long the story takes to move things along. (reminder that this has been going on since ''2009'' and we haven't even gotten to the quarter finals of the tournament.)
** The Bra vs Cold fight ended up lasting over an entire chapter and when it looked like it was wrapped up at the beginning of ch.55 [[spoiler:Cold is revealed to be actually Ginyu in disguise, and steals Bra's body, leading to most of ''that'' chapter being about the attempt to undo the switch with no break for the next fight.]] Not helping matters is that the special chapter between ch.53 and ch.55 also had focus on Bra and both it and ch.55 only updated twice a week as opposed to the usual 3 times. At this point most readers just wanted to get to Gast vs Raichi.
** Gast vs Raichi also fell into this issue, not helping it is that it also had only 2 pages a week and a double special put into the middle of it, it only got worse when [[spoiler: Hachiyack appeared due to most pages involving him being splash pages]]
* AntiClimaxBoss:
** For all the build-up towards who Captain Ginyu was, [[spoiler:along with the dramatic plot-twist that he was in King Cold's body followed by him stealing U16 Son Bra's body, his easy defeat feels like a complete letdown. Vegito and Gohan immediately figure out Ginyu was in Bra's body, with Vegito able to trick Ginyu into swapping back with Bra with no difficulty and a very short battle.]]
** [[spoiler:Hatchiyack, Raichi's ultimate trump card only lasted 8 pages before Gast kills him. To make it worse he only did two things throughout his appearance, scream, and fire the revenger cannon.]]
* AssPull:
** Future Gohan's victory in the "Mirai" special is only made possible by a series of complete and utter asspulls. [[spoiler: First, Gohan somehow manages to avoid being killed by Dabura by showing far superior speed and reflexes to characters that are canonically way faster than him, including Buu Saga Piccolo and the main timeline Gohan. Oh, and he also somehow survives a punch from Dabura, when it's repeatedly shown that if a fighter that strong even light taps someone that weak, they can make said someone EXPLODE. Then he gets teleported onto another planet with Yakon, a monster who can easily kill him via energy drain. Coincidentally, just Yakon is about to drain Gohan, Yakon's sister, a new character who was never even implied to exist in the source material, shows up and starts screwing around, keeping Yakon distracted long enough for Gohan to to start blasting holes in the ground and making vague threats at Babidi. Then, for no reason at all, Babidi transports Gohan back to Earth rather than leave him to rot in nowhere space. Oh, and he doesn't bring Yakon back for some reason. However, Dabura's still there, so Gohan still has no chance, right? Well no, because then the crowning moment of ass-pullery occurs: Babidi drains Dabura of the vast majority of his power right before telling him to face Gohan. We're talking a huge drain, over 95% of the guy's power. Why? Because he almost killed Gohan, keeping Babidi from getting energy. For some reason it never occurs to Babidi to "punish" his mind controlled slave AFTER Gohan is dealt with. Or just to take less energy. Finally, due to this awfully convenient turn of events, Future Gohan is able to beat a guy dozens of times stronger than him and save the day.]]
** Bra vs. King Cold is just full of out-of-nowhere twists:
*** Cold having a [[spoiler: 6th form at all is something of an asspull as well, with an equal lack of foreshadowing behind it. While him having a 5th form can be justified on the basis of his son Cooler having one, it is important to remember that Cooler's 5th form works in a way that is extremely unnatural to how Frost Demon transformations otherwise work (i.e., their 4th form is actually their ''original'' form, with the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd forms being power ''limiters''). For King Cold to have a 6th form, we have to presume that 1) despite his 4th form vastly outclassing that of his sons and thereby making him overwhelmingly the strongest being in his universe, he decided to train anyway; 2) despite the 5th form being extremely unnatural to his race, he managed to attain it anyway; and 3) having achieved a form that makes him ''even more powerful'', creating a gap that Frieza and Cooler could almost certainly ''never'' bridge, he decides to ''keep training anyway'' and discovers a hitherto, out-of-the-blue, monstrous 6th form that makes him around as powerful as Perfect Cell]]. Somewhat [[JustifiedTrope justified]] by the reveal that [[spoiler: Cold is actually Ginyu, and is much more likely to train and push his body to its limits]].
*** After accepting a handicap that she can't turn into a Super Saiyan for the hell of it, [[spoiler: Cold powers up to two augmentation forms and ends up beating her half to death. Then, ''out of the freaking blue'' with no foreshadowing or even the vaguest hint, she reveals that she had some senzu beans hidden in her glove and eats them, regaining her strength and flying out of the way of the four energy disks Cold had thrown her way to end the fight. First of all, how was she able to eat them when she looked as if she was half dead and didn't move an inch when she was prone on the ground, never mind the fact that she's under a thousand times normal gravity? Second, why would she even bother to have the beans if she thought the match was just going to be little more than a bit of training? Third, why wasn't the Senzu crushed since she punched King Cold with that hand? Not to mention she had just coughed up blood, and continued bleeding presumably from internal injuries on the ground. There's no way she would be able to put the bean in her mouth.]]
*** [[spoiler: After the last two examples, Bra suddenly has the ability to create after images. Okay, a perfectly common technique. Wait, they're solid and break when hit? That's unusual and doesn't make a lot of sense, but whatever. Not a big deal. Wait, those shattered after-images somehow turn into solid blobs that weigh down the person that hit them... somehow? [[FlatWhat What.]]]]
* SugarWiki/AwesomeArt:
** Chapter 29 Special has been praised for having a better art than the rest of the special chapters. It was drawn by a new artist on the team, and has made this special probably the best received so far. [[http://www.dragonball-multiverse.com/en/chapters.html?chapter=29 Here it is.]]
** [[http://www.dragonball-multiverse.com/en/page-909.html Chapter 41]] takes on a very different, more realistic style. Despite being another filler chapter, nobody really minds, because the art is both amazing and visually distinct, and Gast is a walking collection of awesome.
** Despite the controversy throughout, few argue about the sheer impressiveness of Chapter 53's art. Namely because [[spoiler:King Cold's 6th form is absolutely flooded with immense detail and nonstandard shapes]], but is still drawn consistently throughout '''an entire chapter''' with lots of movement and action thanks to Asura's artistic talent. In fact, pretty much the webcomic in general became this when Asura stepped in. The series always had nice and recognizable art, but Asura had been able to really flourish since his start and has been impressing the fanbase with each page after ever since.
** Any of the colored specials are particularly impressive, especially [[http://www.dragonball-multiverse.com/en/page-1224.html Chapter 54]] and [[http://www.dragonball-multiverse.com/en/page-1270.html 56]]-[[http://www.dragonball-multiverse.com/en/page-1292.html 57]].
* BaseBreakingCharacter:
** Pan: She is a fun case. Her haters are usually people who despised her Dragon Ball GT counterpart, and transfer that hate to the DBM Pan. Ironically the two characters are drastically different, with Multiverse Pan lacking many of the complaints of GT Pan such as her [[BrattyHalfPint brattiness]] and is truer to her Z personality. Her supporters are quick to point this out and like how her character arc involved her accepting her role as one of Earth's protectors and transforming into a Super Saiyan.
** XXI: He was a very anticipated character that fans universally wanted to see. Once he actually appeared a small number of people were a bit disappointed. After his match against Vegetto he split the fandom. There was a surprising number of fans who agreed with Vegetto and U4 Buu that XXI cheated. They reasoned that XXI's technique transported Vegetto into a dimension where time runs much slower than the outside world let him win by default thanks to the 30 count. They feel he abused a technicality, and violated the spirit of the tournament format. They wanted a rematch between Vegetto and XXI as much as Vegetto and Buu did. There are people who felt XXI's move was legal and that it was a good strategy. This belief is shared by U16 Gohan. He pointed out had the match been a real fight the technique would have still allowed XXI to achieve his objective before Vegetto could even break out of it. His [[spoiler: victory over #18 by using the remote deactivator]] has split fans even more. One camp enjoys that he's using tactics and wits to outsmart his foes. The other feels it ruins the spirit of Dragon Ball, which favored straight-forward combat.
** [[spoiler: King Cold's [[SuperMode augmentation forms]]]] created an unprecedented number of comments, both positive and negative. Some think [[RuleOfCool they look awesome]], others think [[CoolButStupid the awe factor is outweighed by how stupid they look]]. Some say [[spoiler:that it makes total sense for Cold to have two augmentation forms, while others point out that the augmentation forms were supposed to have only been discovered by Cooler, and question how he could have found ''two''.]] Worse, they managed to stir up arguments about Son Bra.
* BetterThanCanon:
** ''Multiverse'' was made specifically to be a better sequel to ''Anime/DragonBallZ'' than ''Anime/DragonBallGT'', and going by the fan reception, it succeeded in its goal. Some also consider it to be better than ''Anime/DragonBallSuper'' to the point of forming a FandomRivalry.
** An in-series example would be Minicomic #57; where instead of Vegetto divorcing Chi-Chi and marrying Bulma, Bulma and Chi-Chi steal his earrings and fuse together to be his wife. Going off the comments, lots of readers thought this version was more heartwarming and prefer it.
** Many fans prefer Multiverse's retellings of several Toei films, such as the first two Broly movies and the first Cooler film. Cooler's Revenge is particularly notable, since Cooler actually puts up a terrific fight in the DBM version instead of [[CurbStompCushion only having a shot with his Supernova]] against Super Saiyan Goku.
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment:
** The beginning of the tournament's second day is celebrated with a musical performance by the ''Film/StarWars'' [[Film/ANewHope Cantina Band]]. Pan and Tapion enjoy the musical interlude, Bra, Frieza's Family and Babidi do not. [[spoiler: Zen Buu thought it was so bad that he demanded that they give their instruments to him so he could play.]]
** The literal MarySue character was actually created by Salagir [[TakeThat in response to Bra being called a Mary Sue by fans]]. Said Mary Sue is a complete JokeCharacter with no connection to anyone else or any impact on the plot.
** Beerus and Whis' [[http://www.dragonball-multiverse.com/en/page-1164.html#h_read cameo appearance]] as spectators, with Beerus asking random members of the audience if they've heard of the Super Saiyan God. Keep in mind, there is '''no''' way ''Multiverse'' and ''Super'' can coexist together. It doesn't really add anything to the plot and is never brought up again. It's almost like it was done as an in-joke to fans repeatedly saying how Beerus and Whis would never appear in ''Multiverse''.
* BrokenBase:
** The specials. Are they good side stories to have while the main tournament fights are being drawn and helps flesh out characters with no screen time, or are they a waste of time and most prefer to wait longer from a chapter instead of reading the specials. Another group like the idea behind the specials, but think they're being wasted with the [[TheBadGuyWins villain win stories]], instead of more interesting stories like how did Cell beat Buu in the universe where he won, or how he dealt with Bojack.
** The art in the specials. Some like that different artists do them in their own unique style instead of trying to copy Toriyama's artwork, while others dislike it since the quality widely varies.
** The overall length of the series. There is a group of fans who believe that the comic has gone on too long and have lost a lot of its luster, especially since it can't incorporate material from ''Battle of Gods'', ''Resurrection 'F''', and ''Super'' since it doesn't fit within the story of ''Multiverse''. Others think the length is fine and ''Multiverse'' is better off not including material from the TheNewTens.
** The entire Bra vs. King Cold fight. The sheer amount of {{Ass Pull}}s and NewPowersAsThePlotDemands has divided the fanbase between those who think the fight is very good, and all of Bra and King Cold's techniques are justifiable, and those who think this is the most contrived match in the series. Not helped that Bra is a very [[BaseBreakingCharacter polarizing character]] because of her [[SmugSuper cocky]] personality and her ability to get away with anything without being punished for her arrogance.
** The overall treatment of Frieza and his family is a bit of a sore spot for their fans, as unlike other villains they have neither gotten any character development (Like the potential redemption of Piccolo and the androids or the BlueAndOrangeMorality of Zen Buu) or have gotten any stronger over time (like Cell, King Vegeta, and again Zen Buu) and have instead become one of the main [[ButtMonkey butt monkeys]] of the comic with King Cold being the only one to actually get stronger and have a fight where he wasn't being curb stomped [[spoiler: at least until his fight with Bra, and even then he wasn't even the actual King Cold.]] Some fans are OK with this pointing out that they would never actually train due to their massive egos and that them being the weakest overall opposing force is a nice bit of irony considering how much fear each of them at one point gathered throughout the universe. Others point out that there are plenty of things left in the galaxy that they would inevitably have to deal with at some point, like Babidi and his cronies and that other characters with mile high egos were able to get stronger so it wouldn't have been that much of a stretch to apply that to Cooler and Frieza.
* CanonDefilement: The series violates all levels of the canon at various points.
** Salagir openly admits that he ignores the guidebooks and substitutes his own fan theories for them, even though they're official material and approved by Akira Toriyama himself.
** Salagir has stated that all Saiyans [[LackOfEmpathy lack empathy]] which was how they could be mass-murdering {{Space Pirate}}s. This goes against the manga where Nappa shows some empathy towards Raditz by wanting to wish him back, was shocked that Vegeta killed a Saibaman, and was shocked again when Vegeta chose to kill him instead of helping him. Using material from the anime, you have Bardock being upset that his crew was brutally murdered. Overall, Saiyans do show empathy, just not for [[FantasticRacism anyone who wasn't a Saiyan]].
** King Cold seems weaker than Frieza, and states anyone stronger than them would automatically be seen as the strongest in the universe (excluding Cooler of course, as he's anime only). In DBM, Salagir gave Cold two massively powerful forms he was never stated to have. This has been a long point of contention for fans of the original series, since Frieza stated his final form was his original one it would logically follow his father would resemble said final form, unless he was himself transformed. Frieza and Cooler's reactions in-comic suggest that Cold had the same problem as Frieza when it came to controlling himself in his original form only worse, enough so that he almost never bothers to transform. The fans who accepted these new forms were less than impressed when Cold revealed [[spoiler:two forms even more powerful than his "true form". Particularly notable since, not only did these not exist in canon, they conflict with a mini-comic which stated that Cooler was the only frost demon with such augmented forms (actually to avoid spoilers).]]
** According to the guidebooks, only Namekians of the same clan can fuse. The only reason why Piccolo and Kami are able to fuse despite Piccolo being a Warrior-type and Kami being part of the Dragon Clan is because they were originally the same person. In DBM, this restriction is lifted, making the existence of Gast Carcolh possible.
** In the manga, Babidi couldn't drain his own minions for use in the resurrection of Buu. He states that only "good" (morally) energy can be used for Buu's resurrection, and all of his minions are evil (Edit: actually, no source says that). If he could, he would've just drained Dabura over and over until the meter filled. In DBM, not only can Babidi do that, but he uses it as a PUNISHMENT, draining Dabura of nearly all of his power before sending him off to fight Future Gohan. The author admitted that he did this because even he couldn't see a plausible way for Gohan not to get killed in one hit.
** Salagir is also very open about the fact that he "allows himself" to change non-manga materials as he pleases, i.e. the movies. In particular, almost everything about Broly, from his power to the story of his second movie, because Salagir [[CreatorsPet thinks he's cool.]]
** It's stated in ''Multiverse'' that Super Saiyan 3 drains a user's power more quickly the stronger they are. There is nothing in canon to suggest this. In fact ''GT'' Goku seems to infer that a weaker body has a harder time handling [=SSJ3=], while in ''Super'' Goku has no trouble with [=SSJ3=] at all despite his immense power at this stage.
* CreatorsPet:
** Universe 20 Broly. Salagir exaggerates Broly's power, moving him from "extremely powerful" to "invincible" while in his Legendary Super Saiyan state. Additionally, he gets a lot of focus despite being an ultimately unimportant character (his fight with Vegetto being the BatmanColdOpen of the entire series). This occurs because he thinks Broly's awesome. Broly is pretty unpopular with the hardcore ''Dragon Ball'' fanbase due to overexposure, so this blatant favoritism doesn't go unnoticed. Salagir himself regularly takes to the comments to argue that Broly is interesting and justify his favoritism which mostly falls on deaf ears.
** Universe 16 Son Bra. Being the daughter of Vegetto, the most powerful character in the original ''Dragon Ball'', you'd think we wouldn't even need [[CharacterShilling Goku from the manga universe gushing on how powerful she is]] and having [[SpotlightStealingSquad two specials focusing on just how awesome she is]]. There's also the whole [[KarmaHoudini disobeying her father's order not to kill her opponent and getting out of it with not even a mild admonition]] on top of being an insufferable SmugSuper who mocks anyone weaker than her. It also doesn't help that Salagir keeps comparing her to Vegeta, ignoring what made Vegeta work such as him starting as a villain and suffering several BreakTheHaughty, {{Humiliation Conga}}s, and {{Laser Guided Karma}}s, as well as suggesting that some criticism towards Bra were just sexism. Even then, she had her fans...until the King Cold fight where she went from a BaseBreakingCharacter to TheScrappy. [[spoiler: Her getting her body stolen by Ginyu was met with much [[TakeThatScrappy praise]] because of how unlikable she is to the fandom]].
* DesignatedHero: U16 Bra is infuriatingly arrogant, never passes up an opportunity to mock other fighters for being weak, is a complete {{hypocrite}} (she calls anyone who uses magic/technology to fight a coward and a cheater, but has no problem eating some instant-healing senzu beans when a fight doesn't go her way or using putty clone afterimages to shackle her opponent), is as bloodthirsty as many of the villains (she was literally ''smiling'' at the thought of making Zangya suffer in order to get back at Bojack for killing Pan) and doesn't take her promises seriously. She's so unlikable that many fans would rather [[RootingForTheEmpire root for Space Hitler]] (King Cold) than her and were immensely pleased by [[spoiler: Ginyu stealing her body]]. And that's not even taking into account the novelization. Case in point: when Eliem threatens to use carbonite which could potentially kill everyone in the audience if she doesn't forfeit, what's her reaction? Concern for innocent lives? Outrage over the callous threat? Nope! She just laughs to herself and thinks "Like I care." And apparently, she wasn't much better even as a child, given that she was willing to risk destroying the planet (or at the very least causing severe destruction) in order to beat Gohan in a sparring match. The way she looks giving her apology for that makes her appear as if she couldn't have cared less if she had.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: The villains steal the show.
** Kakarotto for being psycho and hilarious.
** Cell. Just as badass and [[AwesomeEgo smug]] as the main series Cell, except with a nice helping of CrazyAwesome on top of it.
** Zen Buu, a FauxAffablyEvil MagnificentBastard with many funny and awesome scenes. A lot like the original Super Buu, except more intelligent and civilized. Comes with a helping of CreepyAwesome.
** Hanasia, due to being Goku's mother and just ''awesome in general''.
** If Gast wasn't on the list before, he certainly earned his spot when he effortless stopped U4 Buu's rampage and saving everyone from being absorbed by him.
** U13 Vegeta for his absolutely awesome battle with Raichi, even though he lost.
** Raichi for being a much [[AdaptationalHeroism more sympathetic character]] than he is in canon, and showing genuine care and friendship towards Tapion.
** King Cold, being an AdaptationalBadass and showing off not one, but ''two'' augmentation forms (both of which were beautifully drawn by DBM's current artist Asura). [[spoiler: He only improves after the reveal that he is actually Captain Ginyu, since he nicely puts [[TheScrappy U16 Bra]] in her place.]]
** Captain Ginyu [[spoiler:in U16 Son Bra's body. More liked than the real Son Bra, with a personality that doesn't annoy the majority, and accompanied by an amazing plot twist. Many were disappointed we didn't get to see more of this Ginyu, and the real Bra got restored to her body shortly after.]]
* FandomRivalry: The more vocal parts of the ''Multiverse'' fandom have an intense rivalry with ''Anime/DragonBallSuper''. It is so bad that going into the comments section and saying that you like ''Super'' in anyway can get you mobbed by fans claiming that you have poor taste and that ''Super'' stole ''Multiverse's'' ideas. It's to the point that saying you like ''GT'' more than ''Super'' will get you a less violent response. Things had only gotten worse since ''Super'' caused a influx of new fans to start reading ''Multiverse'' and they're left wondering why the webcomics 'leave out' stuff from the show like Beerus, Whis, Zen'o, and [[spoiler: Vegetto having an one hour time limit]], ticking off the older fans.
* FunnyAneurysmMoment: In the middle half of the three-part Universe 8 special, we see Jeice dreaming about Ginyu stepping down as leader and making him in charge of the new "Jeice Force". At the end of the special, Ginyu will die taking the blame for Frieza's men, thus making Jeice (as the second in command) the new leader of the Ginyu Force.
* HarsherInHindsight:
** In Universes 1 and 10, the Supreme Kais decided to forsake their oath of non-intervention, killing Broly, Frieza and his family, and Bibidi before they could become threats, all in the name of the 'greater good'. ''Super'' introduces Zamasu, a Supreme Kai-in-training who adopts a similar philosophy...but takes it '''much''' further, [[spoiler:developing into a KnightTemplar, OmnicidalManiac who wants to kill ''all'' mortals since he believes they'll never be anything more than violent savages.]] For bonus points, Zamasu ''also'' comes from Universe 10, just Toriyama's version of it.
** A very early April Fool's joke had [[http://www.dragonball-multiverse.com/en/bonuses/pictures5.html page 104]] drawn by Salagir, with the explanation that the comic's artist Gogeta Jr. had decided to leave the project. This joke became a lot less funny when, a little over three years later, Gogeta Jr. actually did [[http://www.dragonball-multiverse.com/en/strip-46.html#h_read quit drawing DBM]], causing the project to be without a main artist for several months until Asura stepped in as a replacement.
* HilariousInHindsight: ''Multiverse'' is so old that material created by Toriyama in TheNewTens gives us plenty of examples:
** Salagir stated that Goku and Vegeta hasn't gotten much stronger since the Buu Saga despite twenty years passing and that Ultimate Gohan is way above them in terms of power. In the material from TheNewTens almost all the powerhouse characters took [[TookALevelInBadass several levels of badass]] since the Buu Saga with Goku and Vegeta specifically becoming {{Physical God}}s, Gohan getting his Ultimate form back and is stronger than ever, and Future Trunks getting his own Super Saiyan form.
** Frieza's ButtMonkey status is particularly hilarious given the ''Anime/DragonBallZResurrectionF'' movie where he's Post-''Battle of Gods'' Goku's level. As in, ''Resurrection 'F''' Frieza would mop the floor with the entire tournament, being stronger than a Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegeta in terms of raw strength at the time of his resurrection. Even funnier since everyone in the web comic was shocked that King Cold [[spoiler: could become as strong as Perfect Cell]] and it took him decades to become that powerful. Frieza only took four months.
** During the tournament, Goku is stunned when he feels Bra's power as a Super Saiyan, proclaiming her stronger than Vegeta and him. With ''Battle of Gods'', ''Resurrection 'F''' and ''Dragon Ball Super'', this line comes off as unintentionally funny since Goku and Vegeta's base forms are stronger than Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks and ''that'' was during the Champa Saga.
** U16's Vegito being seen as a beneficent god who has no equal in his universe comes off as hilarious since he would be little more than a flea compared to the Gods of Destruction and their [[spoiler: angels]]. And let's not even get into Zen'o who can wipe out universes at a blink of an eye.
** Goku said that he didn't teach Pan the Kaioken because it would be useless to her since she would eventually learn Super Saiyan. In ''Super'' [[spoiler: with Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan, it's possible to combine the Kaioken with a Super Saiyan form]].
** In general, most of the characters from ''Anime/DragonBallSuper'' could stomp the entire tournament outside of maybe Vegetto at his max power, U20 Broly, Gast, and Zen Buu, and even they would be crushed by the god-tier characters like Hit, Goku Black, Toppo, and especially [[spoiler: Fusion Zamasu]] who was a Potara fusion like Vegetto.
** In ''Multiverse'', Goku's mom is a hardcore Saiyan warrior who was the strongest Saiyan alive. Goku's canon mother is the exact opposite, being a weak, soft-hearted person who wasn't cut off for battle. And then, ''Super'' introduced Caulifla, a female Saiyan from Universe 6 who actually looks and acts more like the ''Multiverse'' version of Goku's mom and even fulfills the criteria of being one of the strongest Saiyans from her universe.
** Years after being a fan premise, [[spoiler: ''Super'' is making a "inter-universal battle" a reality. It's made even funnier when, just like Multiverse, the main universe in Dragon Ball averts TheEarthPrimeTheory]]. Even more hilarious, [[spoiler: [[TopGod Zen'o, the King of Multiverse]], wants to hold his own tournament with all 12 universes instead of just U6 and U7. Champa even calls his tournament the warm-up with Zen'o's tournament being the main event]].
** Also funny, Vegeta specifically asked for a written test so mindless monsters wouldn't be allowed to fight, probably because he's thinking of Kid Buu. The Vargas really could've used such a test instead of just throwing Broly into the ring.
** In a more specific example, [[spoiler:both stories have an alternate universe where we see what the Saiyans would be if Frieza hadn't existed. ''Multiverse''[='s=] Universe 10 shows them as barely better than cavemen and so ridiculously weak that even turning into Great Apes can't help them, while ''Super''[='s=] 6th Universe shows them as becoming a race of noble heroes who have evolved beyond the need for tails, and one member is powerful enough to impress his universe's God of Destruction. Cabba, the Saiyan from U6, is strong enough to fight evenly against Vegeta in his base form, ''after'' he has been training with Whis. For reference, in ''Super'', base form Vegeta is stronger than Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks to the point that he can [[NoSell no sell]] hits from him and takes Gotenks down in a couple of attacks]]. Then the Universe Survival Saga made it even funnier by revealing that Universe 6 has its own Legendary Super Saiyan, although ''Super's'' version was called Super Saiyan Berserker.
** Also related to Frieza and his clan's ButtMonkey status, U6 has a GoodCounterpart ([[spoiler:[[BitchInSheepsClothing although we find out he's just as evil as Frieza]]]]) to Frieza in Frost. He's even ''stronger'' than Frieza even after he trained, although he lacks Frieza's golden transformation.
** Before the release of ''Resurrection 'F''', ''Multiverse'' had a short script of Piccolo finger flicking Frieza and causing his head to explode, making fun of the idea of Frieza's revival given how weak he would be compared to the rest of the cast. In the retelling, Frieza kills Piccolo with one Death Beam, in his weakest form, while sitting in his hover chair.
** How the multiverse works in the web series is vastly different from Toriyama's version. For one, the "multiverse" isn't just different timelines, they are their own physical universes with only the twin universes sharing the same planets and species. So Future Trunks' timeline is part of Universe 7 and not its own universe. Second, there are only seven official timelines as of this writing (two that were created during the Future Trunks Saga by Beerus and Whis). Instead of endless timelines being created through 'what ifs', time is linear unless it is altered by outside forces, which causes a new timeline to be form.
** The controversies surrounding the "Mirai" special (see AssPull above) got thrown into pretty sharp relief when [[spoiler:''Super'' handled the same plot point without getting nearly as complex: the Supreme Kai warns Future Trunks about Babidi, and gives him tips to defeat Dabura and Babidi before they could revive Buu.]]
** Future Trunks in ''Multiverse'' is very powerful, but he never achieved Super Saiyan 2. Instead, he mastered his Ultra Super Saiyan form to be used in small bursts, giving him the power of a Super Saiyan 2 without losing speed. In ''Super'', [[spoiler: Trunks can become a Super Saiyan 2 and is at least as strong as Super Saiyan 2 Goku and Vegeta from the Buu Saga since he was able to deal with Dabura by himself]]. In the manga, [[spoiler: Trunks is evenly matched against Super Saiyan 3 Goku]]. It then goes a step further when Trunks [[spoiler: achieves Super Saiyan Rage, a form that seems to be just shy of Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan in power]].
** While sparring with Vegeta, Future Trunks uses his Ultra Super Saiyan form after Vegeta reveals his Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan form. Vegeta becomes upset at Trunks for using a slow, obsolete form, and charges him, only for Trunks to suddenly go back to [[spoiler: Super Saiyan 2]] and attack. This is similarly to how Trunks was able to keep up with Super Saiyan 2 Vegeta during their match in ''Multiverse'', using Ultra Super Saiyan to attack and then reverting to a normal Super Saiyan so his speed doesn't decrease. In ''Super's'' case, Trunks only used Ultra Super Saiyan to catch Vegeta off-guard.
** ''Dragon Ball Super'' reveals that [[spoiler:non-Supreme Kais can only stay fused for one hour if they wear the Potara Earrings]]. This casts the whole of Universe 16 into a much funnier light. For one, the Kais considering Universe 16 Vegito's existence "blasphemy" makes even more sense when this plot twist means [[spoiler:he shouldn't have existed long enough to father Bra into her late teens]]. There's also the matter of Universe 16 Bra, as her specific characterization and life only differ from canon Bra's because of Vegito being her father. It also makes the Kais sound even more like Zamasu since they actually said that mortals fusing is a sin, and the mortals should stop trying to copy the gods. One seriously wonders how Salagir would have chosen to make Universe 16 different from the canon universe if the [[spoiler:one hour time limit]] had existed before ''Multiverse'' began.
** The entirety of U13 became hilarious with the release of ''[[VideoGame/DragonBallHeroes Super Dragon Ball Heroes]]'', whose first few expansions included versions of Vegeta, Nappa, and Raditz who had achieved not just Super Saiyan, but Super Saiyan 3 before they ever came to Earth.
** During the Universe Survival Saga, there's a scene where Goku comes up with the idea of Team Universe 7 using Senzu beans mid-battle, only for Whis to shoot it down by saying it'd be against the rules and would just piss off Zen'o. Now recall all the controversy over Bra using Senzu hidden in her gloves during her fight with King Cold...
** In ''Multiverse'', Future Android 17 and 18 are revealed to have become defective and less powerful after going years without a tuneup. When 17 showed up in ''Super'', he's revealed to have been training and has managed to hit god-tier all on his own. It helps that according to the official guide books the Androids are still mostly human with biological enhancements and their only mechanical modifications being their infinite energy power sources[[note]]plus the self-destruct bombs which were wished away at the end of the Cell Saga[[/note]]. Of course, these are the very same guidebooks Salagir will ignore if he doesn't agree with the contents, so...
** U19's characters are all named for appliance manufacturers, like Phipsil (Philips) and Magsuns (Samsung). In ''Super'' we have Universe 10's Pride Troopers, whose names come from the appliances themselves, like Jiren (range) and Dyspo (disposal).
* InternetBackdraft:
** In a case of FandomRivalry, bringing up ''Anime/DragonBallSuper'' in any positive way is a strict no-no.
** These days any naive fans attempts to defend U16 Son Bra is a ticking timebomb which will spawn a torrent of flamings from a large portion of the fandom.
** Related to above, the last few pages of the Bra vs Cold fight. The comments section broke records in terms of sheer number of replies, and the majority of them were from fans expressing their utter outrage for the senzu bean debacle and the ignominious defeat of King Cold, essentially accusing Salagir of [[CreatorsPet blatant favoritism towards Bra]]. His attempts to explain how it happened only made matters worse, as many of those same fans regarded his explanations as both condescending and completely illogical. Some of this has cooled down a little after [[spoiler: Ginyu takes Bra's body since he was play acting King Cold the entire time]]. And then it started back up again when that plot line ended up going nowhere.
* MagnificentBastard:
** U4 Buu, even more so than his original counterpart. He's basically running the entire tournament, and the Grand Supreme Kai is either his accomplice or puppet.
** To a lesser extent, [[spoiler: U8 Ginyu]] could qualify as well, considering that [[spoiler: he successfully and secretly took over the body of the strongest person in his universe, kept the rouse up for years to the point that not even his body's sons knew his father had been replaced, trained that body to incredible levels, and then successfully pulled off a body-swap with U16 Bra using the announcer's talking to cover what he did]].
** Babidi can now assume this title as well with his coup now in full swing. He first began Magjinizing evil people from both the contestants and the audience, taking care to hide the mark that they bear after being subverted. Then, once he had every evil person he can get under his thrall, he teleported all the contestants he couldn't control to a planet billions of parsecs away from the arena with a toxic atmosphere, eliminating potential enemies (for the moment, anyway). A Majin Frieza destroyed the tower that allows the Vargas to send people back to their own universes, likely on his orders, so there's no help coming from there. And he's now trying to use Bardock's visions of the future to further aid his goals. Needless to say, Babidi is putting his canon self to shame.
* MemeticLoser: Raditz's usual portrayal as this is played with here. Besides losing on the first round on the main storyline, [[http://www.dragonball-multiverse.com/en/strip-49.html a minicomic]] was published which made fun of the concept.
* MoralEventHorizon:
** Bojack [[spoiler: snapping U16 Pan's neck]]. Cell's [[KickTheSonOfABitch beatdown]] on him was ''very'' satisfying.
** Bra crosses it in the novelization, when Eleim threatens to use the carbonite and potentially kill the entire audience in the hopes of making her give up. She apparently couldn't care less and indeed, she seemed to find his threat amusing in that he believed that she'd make the "noble choice."
* {{Narm}}:
** [[spoiler:Zen Buu's punch to the West Kaioshin]] in [[http://www.dragonball-multiverse.com/en/page-735.html page 735]] was deemed similar to those from cartoons.
** The Kaioshin's rather direct way of dealing with upcoming dangers, like killing Frieza and Cooler when they were children and Broly when he was an infant, in the Universe 1/10 Special was noted to be too violent by fans.
%%** Last panel of [[http://www.dragonball-multiverse.com/en/page-382.html page 382]].
%%** Android 16's fight is quite narmy.
* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap:
** To many, Pan, who was redesigned from her [[Anime/DragonballGT counterpart]], being given more similarity to child Goku.
** While chapter 14, 16 and '''especially''' 18 have been panned by pretty much everyone (as you can see below), the next special, despite being even longer than all of them, as it lasted for ''two'' chapters, was received well enough for most readers to be again interested in them. The Universe 7 special was well received as well.
** [[InvertedTrope Inverted]] for U16 Bra, who went from BaseBreakingCharacter to TheScrappy. See TheScrappy section for more details.
* RootingForTheEmpire: As a result of many of the villains being much more likable, CrazyAwesome, and charismatic than they were in the main timeline, and Vegetto and Bra being far less likable while receiving greater focus (the most out of any of the universes so far with now three specials and a novelization), it's not uncommon to see people cheering for the villains. The most standout example being the King Cold Vs. Bra fight where people were rooting for King Cold to win, who's basically space Hitler, and [[spoiler: cheered when Bra got her body stolen by Ginyu]].
* SilentMajority: Non-posting readers.
* TheScrappy: Son Bra of U16 was once a very firm BaseBreakingCharacter, with some thinking she was one of the best characters in the setting, while others regarded her as an overpowered, arrogant, SpoiledBrat, who had no respect for anyone other than her father and a handful of others (and even they weren't exempt from being insulted by her). However, over time her unlikable qualities became more blatant, along with the fandom's hatred for her. After her fight with King Cold, it's very hard to find anyone still defending her character, and she now appears to have been promoted/demoted to [[TheScrappy scrappy]] status. During the controversial fight, she somehow manages to eat some senzu beans and recover (see AssPull above). Many readers declared that not only does it make her seem like a complete hypocrite in the face of her earlier confidence when facing him, it cheapened the entire fight and made Cold's transformations entirely pointless. Moreover, if Bra has those beans stashed away all the time, how are the readers supposed to feel any tension when she can just eat them and be completely healed? There is also the fact that it's against the Saiyans' honor code. When Cell offered Goku a senzu bean in the middle of their match, Vegeta says that any pure-blooded Saiyans would rather die than take that offer. Although Bra is a half-breed, she tries to act like an aggressive, smug pure-blooded Saiyan.
** [[spoiler: Hachiyack has very few fans due him having a boring fighting style, no personality and the fact that he could be completely cut from the story and nothing would change.]]
* TakeThatScrappy: U16 Bra [[spoiler: getting her body stolen by U8 Captain Ginyu, who has been playing the role of King Cold for ''years'' [[MagnificentBastard without anyone realizing it]], is seen as the most satisfying LaserGuidedKarma for Bra. After acting like a SmugSuper, SpoiledBrat who [[KarmaHoudini seemingly gets away with anything for most of the tournament]], having her soul trapped in a body she beat up and gloating over has elicited much rejoicing within the fandom]].
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter:
** [[ButtMonkey Freeza]] gets the short end of the stick in EVERY universe he appears in. The one version of Frieza taking part in the tournament has had no increase in power, when he could have had a 5th form or some other kind of interesting transformation.
** His older and more competent brother Cooler doesn't fare much better, despite having several reasons to get stronger. The version in the tournament got stomped by Future Trunks and is always left speechless when he sees the power of those stronger than him, which doesn't match how he was portrayed in his movies.
** The U19 Tech Warriors are the most unique fighters present in the whole tournament. Thus far, they have either been casually beaten in battle, or in the case of Eleim he only won by a tiny margin. [[spoiler: And now they've been knocked out of the tournament entirely after having the faintest hints of their backstory explored.]] Thankfully this is finally starting to get subverted. U19 is getting its story told in novel/fan fiction form that is on the DBM site.
** U9 was also sold short. This is the universe were the only defenders Earth had were Yamcha, Krillen, Tien and other humans. They all have nifty abilities, Yamcha is an android and they all had to contend with the likes of Frieza and his ilk. They've also been knocked out of the tournament and so far, they haven't had even a single special dedicated to them.
** If you ask any fan of the comic, most of them will say a lot of characters are being wasted. Uub probably qualifies. Like his ''GT'' counterpart, his role in the overall plot has been small. Another small, but vocal part of fandom don't like that Goten and Trunks of universes 16 and 18 are just as childish as they were as kids and feel Salagir wasted two promising characters by reducing them to joke characters who are even shallower than their canon counterparts. The girls from U6 have been getting complaints. Fans feel they are unnecessary since their backstory hasn't been explored yet nor have their characters made any impact on the tournament besides being fodder for stronger characters. Many felt U6 special should have told the girls story instead of showing Bojack and his gang kill the Z-fighters.
** Many think the main universe, U18, in general fell into this since they get little spotlight despite them supposedly being the 'canon' universe. Goku and Vegeta only seemed to get lines when it's related to [[SpotlightStealingSquad U16]], especially [[CreatorsPet Bra]], U13, or [[CreatorsPet Broly]]. Piccolo has little to no presence, Gohan is so laughably similar to his U16's counterpart that the web comic even made a joke about it, and Pan is knocked out early by U13 Kakarotto. It doesn't help that all of Goku's matches have the RunningGag of being a SingleStrokeBattle.
** While U16 as a whole is a SpotlightStealingSquad, that universe's version of Piccolo seemed to only exist to be Bra's tailor. Pan from the same universe also doesn't get much focus since [[spoiler: she died to Bojack and just came back]] and only appears to adore [[CreatorsPet Bra]], which is a shame since she's one of the few characters from that universe aside from Gohan who isn't a jerk.
** Raichi was considered to be a massive improvement over his canon counterpart, being a flesh-out and sympathetic AntiHero instead of being a cliche mad scientist and his fight with Gast was hoped to be not only exciting, but also heartfelt as it was a duel between two opposing ideals: revenge (Raichi) and peace (Gast). Instead, Raichi gets killed off unceremoniously and his trump card (Hatchiyack) lasted only for a few pages before being destroyed with one shot by Gast. Worst of all, apparently Raichi was a ghost as well, and so it's likely he's been permanently killed. What was the point of improving his character so much just to have him get killed off without any closure?
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot:
** Some longtime ''Dragon Ball'' fans think the entire webcomic became wasted the longer it went on. Instead of writing more UltimateShowdownOfUltimateDestiny WhatIf fights like Cell vs. Dabura and Nail vs. Recoom, it shifted to using more and more OCs in the plot and tournament.
** Fans love the concept of multiverse with various universes, different from the main DB universe, but some feel its being wasted for a tournament. Many fans feel the specials as a whole are wasted because most of them retell how canon events went except with the villains winning instead of exploring the repercussions of the villains' victories. The U6 special got a lot of complaints because it showed Bojack and his minions killing all the Z-fighters and never even showed the girls in U6 at all.
** The U17 Special was disliked for similar reasons. What, Cell killed the Z fighters in his universe? Naw, ya think? Plenty of fans were wondering why they didn't show, say, how Cell dealt with Babidi.
** The Future Majin Attack special. The special was better received than most of the others, but there was still outcry from fans on how forced the plot was to make Future Gohan win against Babidi and Dabura. See the AssPull section for more details. Instead, the special could have been centered around Future/U12 Trunks and 16, and how they dealt with Babidi and Dabura coming to Earth to revive Majin Buu, which is [[HilariousInHindsight exactly]] what ''Anime/DragonBallSuper'' did, minus Android 16.
** A minicomic revealed that U8 Paragas and Broly are still around, but chose to live in peace instead of attacking Freeza and his PTO, who are still dominant in the universe. What would have been an awesome special in itself, it has been decided it is not worth exploring, let alone other universes where multiple evil factions would still be around.
** Some fans saw the fight between U16 Bra and U8 King Cold as a chance for the former to [[CharacterDevelopment learn to be less arrogant]] by losing to the latter after [[spoiler:agreeing to fight without Super Saiyan and King Cold [[AssPull having two new transformations]]. She did seem to be losing at first, but after [[AssPull some senzu beans and some improbable techniques,]] [[CurbStompBattle she defeats King Cold easily]] and not only does she fail to learn anything, she becomes even more smug over her capabilities]]. Some feel this has been corrected with [[spoiler: Ginyu stealing Bra's body, leaving her crippled and bleeding on the arena floor in King Cold's body]]. Though some feel this trope applies to [[spoiler:Vegito's group instantly finding out Ginyu body jacked Bra rather than everyone being in the dark about it, and Vegito immediately ejecting Ginyu from Bra's body.]]
** After years of build-up, Ginyu is revealed! And fans love him. Aaaaaand he's promptly defeated in the most obvious way possible in 15 pages, resulting in him back in his old body, [[spoiler: Bra]] back in hers, and no one having learned any lessons or CharacterDevelopment. What could have been an excellent ongoing arc basically has as much importance as that episode of ''DBZ'' where Goku gets a driver's license.
** Gast vs Raichi was a highly anticipated matchup, due to a combination of conflicting ideologies despite their similar origins, and the potential of a fight between a warrior who has been hyped up to be [[PhysicalGod on par with Vegito and Zen Buu]] fighting a BadassArmy of Super Saiyans, Frost Demons, Space Pirates, and a Kaiju. [[spoiler: In reality, Gast and Raichi barely talk to each other and the only two ghosts that Raichi uses are U13 Vegeta and [[CreatorsPet Broly]] which also ends up revealing that Gast is only on par with [=SSJ3=]s and is only able to beat Raichi with pure luck. Furthermore, when Raichi transforms into Hachiyack, the only thing he ends up doing is screaming and firing a ki blast every 15 seconds until Gast kills him.]]
* WhatAnIdiot:
** The Vargas who decided not to bother [[spoiler: sending Broly back to his universe]] after the Broly vs. Vegetto fight. DumbassHasAPoint: As far as they knew [[spoiler: Broly]] wasn't a threat anymore and in the long run it would be safer to leave him in the lifeless universe the tournament is taking place in rather than send him back to his populated home one.
** Better question, who thought it was a good idea to put Broly in the tournament? As one of the Namekians pointed out, he's a maniac and Vegetto even states Broly would attack the audience and be disqualified. So there was no point of having Broly fight since it would only end in needless deaths. It's about as reckless as inviting Kid Buu. Even better, why did they bring a person in an ice cube that they weren't even sure was still alive?
** Yes, Freeza, go ahead and try to kill the loyal soldier who has the ability to change body's while leaving the task of actually making sure he's dead to some random unidentifiable mook. [[SarcasmMode This can in no way go wrong.]] [[spoiler: Just ask your dad..... oh.]]
** Freeza from U3 is also an idiot. He saw a bunch of Great Apes heading for his ship, the worst case scenario being a Saiyan Rebellion. How does he respond? Going out himself and taking care of the problem since even a lower class Saiyan gets a massive boost from the Great Ape form? No, he sits in his chair and sends his low class grunts to fight them and then acts surprised when almost all of them get killed in minutes. By the time he finally decides to do anything, he has dozens of Great Apes firing blasts at him.
** The Grand Supreme Kai being willing to let [[spoiler: U4 Buu]] compete after his rampage was a relief to fans who felt it was too soon for him to exit the story, but the fact is that he allowed him to still compete is still foolish. While it is true they have him contained at the moment, the fact of the manner is that since he learned how to overcome the Vargas' technology and manipulate it, it means he is resourceful enough that overcoming the technique used to contain him is not out the realms of possibilities. U16 Gohan already told the Kais everything about him, meaning that the Grand Supreme Kai already knows just how dangerous he can be. However, as of Chapter 42, East Supreme Kai seems to think that he is actually being controlled by him.
** Bra vs Cold starts out with Cold manipulating Bra's ego so that she wouldn't be able to go Super Saiyan in their fight. While this is clearly not an intelligent move on her end, it can be forgiven due to the fact that, even in her base form she was still stronger than Cold by a decent margin [[spoiler:at least until he used his 6th form]], what's not as forgivable is that [[spoiler: when Cold proved to be more powerful, ''she still held back'' by not using her other GameBreaker abilities until she was beaten to a point where she couldn't even stand and had to use senzus to continue fighting, nearly causing her death and U19 having one less fighter that's willing to use a wish on them]]. To make it worse, she's cocky like she planned to let Cold beat her from within an inch of her life.
** Universe 8 Gohan is commonly seen this way after it didn't even occur to him to use the dragon radar to search Frieza's ship, frantically checking every room instead.
** Ginyu's loss to Vegito. Now granted, there's not a lot of ways to win against Vegito, but [[spoiler: using his "Change!" technique on him was hopeless and more or less guaranteed to fail. This is particularly the case since the fight ''began'' with Ginyu firing a mouth-beam and Vegito using Instantaneous Movement to teleport them both before he fires it. He's just doing the ''exact'' same thing that didn't work once, but with higher stakes]].
** Raichi during his fight with [[spoiler: Gast after seemingly incapacitating him, decides to have his Vegeta ghost stay halfway across the arena while not bothering to summon other ghosts as emergency bodyguards in case Gast sneak attacks him.]] You have three guesses on what happens, and the first two don't count.
