* EveryoneIsJesusInPurgatory: The general agreement among viewers is that the story's message is "true beauty is [[spoiler:unreachable]]". Others believe it's an allegory for our society's incredibly high beauty standards. Either theory is plausible, and indeed, both of them might be.
* NightmareFuel: This video makes ''putting on lipstick'' look painful.
* TearJerker: The ending.

** To ''Series/CrazyExGirlfriend''. Both have similar set-ups, where the main character isn't happy in her life (not being in love / just recently dumped) and decides that her life needs to change. For Rebecca in ''Series/CrazyExGirlfriend'', she follows an ex-boyfriend to West Covina; for Jules in ''Series/{{Dollface}}'', she tries to reconnect to her old girlfriends. They also both have fantasy sequences, Rebecca's being musical numbers, with Jules' generally involve a Cat Lady or some metaphor-turned-literal. The only ''significant'' difference between the two shows (aside from one being a musical) is that Rebecca has serious mental health issues, while Jules doesn't.
** The shows even have two actors in common: Vella Lovell (who played Heather in ''Series/CrazyExGirlfriend'' and Alison S. in ''Series/{{Dollface}}'') and Esther Povitsky (who played Maya on ''Series/CrazyExGirlfriend'' and Izzy on ''Series/{{Dollface}}''.
