* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation:
** Mecha Rogue X. Is it a prototype for Craniamon that went, well, rogue? There is evidence to suggest this. Not only does Mecha Rogue X look an astonishingly [[https://wikimon.net/images/a/af/Mecha_rogue_X_form1.jpg a lot]] [[https://wikimon.net/images/6/62/Craniummon_cs.jpg like Craniamon]], but [=LordKnightmon=] is also one of it's allies, implying that [=LordKnightmon=] was to guard Mecha Rogue while Yggdrasil perfected the formula for Black Digizoid from which to implement exclusively into Craniamon in the same year as ''Digimon World 4''[='s=] release. Also, what convinced [[Anime/DigimonAdventure Apocalymon]], [[Anime/DigimonAdventure02 MaloMyotismon]], and [[Anime/DigimonFrontier Lucemon]] to willfully work with Mecha Rogue?

* DifficultySpike: The difference between difficulties is shocking the first time you experience them, specially when you've just beaten Normal Mode and went to Hard Mode, where even the Goblimon enemies have craploads of HP, are much stronger, and much more durable.
* EpilepticTrees: Mecha Rogue X's uncanny resemblance to Craniamon is so spot on that some have taken notice of it and began to question what was ''really'' going on with Mecha Rogue X's mere existence.
* GameBreaker:
** Guns. They're very powerful, let you snipe at enemies from a distance, and if you have one with mods, you can equip Elemental Chips on them, turning them into Elemental Magic blasters that don't cost MP. The only downside to them is that MoreDakka doesn't apply to them, so you can't spam attacks like you could with melee weapons, but it's a small price to pay.
** Also, while the Digivolutions are generally way more powerful than the starter Digimon, [[spoiler: [[InfinityPlusOneSword Susanoomon]]]] takes the crown, even if it's [[PurposelyOverpowered on purpose]]. Not only does he have the best stats of the game, his magic techniques are also good. [[GameplayAndStoryIntegration Makes sense, however, since he's one of the most powerful Digimon that existed at the time the game was released]].
** Buff techniques such as either Power Up or Speed, which boots your melee capabilities and accuracy/evasion respectively. The former is always helpful considering how much punishment enemies can take as the game progresses, and the latter is, again, always helpful especially if you're facing enemies which normally otherwise have a much higher speed stat than your own, thus making them harder to hit under normal circumstances. Goes hand in hand with the likes of [=WereGarurumon X=], who can actually learn '''both''' of these techniques.
** One of the GoodBadBugs variety is that one of the side quests that can allow the player to unlock stronger Digivolutions requires the player to survive to the end of the dungeon at either 1 HP or full HP. If you level up as soon as you defeat the boss of the dungeon, naturally your HP and MP are are refilled to your new maximum values. This will actually trick the game into thinking you've gotten through the entire dungeon without taking a single hit, and thus allow you to unlock the Digivolution of that respective side quest. However, doing this can be a bit tricky, since in Hard Mode and Very Hard Mode, the enemies encountered give different amounts of experience, so one has to properly calculate and anticipate how much experience they'll gain in doing this side quest to ensure you'll level up immediately upon defeating the boss of the dungeon.
* SoOkayItsAverage: It's good as an action-adventure RPG game, but not as good as a Digimon game.
* ThatOneBoss: Lucemon Shadowlord Mode. The Mecha Rogue X, a SequentialBossFight, also qualifies.
* ThatOneLevel: Dread Bridge in Venom Jungle. It's not uncommon for players to spend hours trying to get through this one. And then there's [[ThatOneBoss Lucemon]] to be fought at the end...
* ThatOneSidequest:
** Most of the side-quests in this game are really hard to accomplish. It's even more difficult when you're trying to get a Digivolution, which generally requires the completion of the side-quests but with more demands, such as exiting the dungeon with only 1 HP left[[note]]And no, walking into an HPToOne trap after clearing out all enemies [[NoFairCheating doesn’t count]].[[/note]] or defeating all enemies.
** Special mention must got to the Signature Weapons since if you want to earn one, you must beat every boss in Hard Mode in the right sequence '''without turning the console off'''[[note]]You can still save the game, but if you ever turn the console off, you must restart the sequence[[/note]]. Just taking out all the bosses generally takes 5+ hours, for '''one''' weapon. And if at anytime a blackout occurs, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YX2IQG4wTCE well...]]
* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: It has a ''way'' different gameplay style than the other games in the series, so it's a given most people complain about it. Considering that it's also different from [[Anime/DigimonXEvolution the anime]] it's supposed to be based on...
