* NarmCharm: Some of the death cries are tragically hilarious, particularly Admiral Benson's cry from the skirmish mode, "Commander, you left us high and dry you [[CurseCutShort sorry shi...]]", as well as Blackwell from the campaign, "Come and get me... [[PunctuatedForEmphasis insect... BASTARDS]]!"
* StockFootageFailure: Missions 13 and 16 use the exact same cutscene for the NonStandardGameOver. The player kills Smirnoff at the end of the former mission and thus he shouldn't be present in the latter.
* ThatOneLevel: "Mission 7: Supply Lines" is a long and and grueling slog through a mostly linear map. To add insult to injury, this mission has next to no dialogue or plot development, making it come off as {{Filler}}.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter:
** The Hero Units: Blanus, Joule, Procyo, Thripid, Mordalla, Clone Azkar and Queen Ver'Lak are total non-entities in the campaign. The details given about them in the Manual are completely wasted: Procyo is said to have awakened specifically to fight the Mantis, which makes his absence in the story hard to justify. Ver'Lak is by far the most egregious case since she's allegedly supposed to be the BigBad.
** Ker'tak disappears for several missions before officially leaving with the flimsy excuse of "it's unsafe" (''How?''). Halsey, rather than force her into line by reminding her that this was ''her'' war she dragged him into, lets her go with an "oh well, can't be helped". What's especially dumb is that the game's heavy use of EnemyExchangeProgram means the humans end up fighting alongside rebel Mantis anyways, so her leaving was totally pointless.
