* EpicRiff: "Shine", "December" and "Heavy" all qualify.
** Same goes for "Where the River Flows."
* ImpossiblyTackyClothes: Ed's current getups. He seems to be going for the most garish looks he can get away with.
* MemeticMutation: The obligatory "Yeah!" shout in "Shine".
* {{Mondegreen}}: From their debut album, the track “Wasting Time”: “Just take your heart, just take your soul, just get your ''cell phone'' outta here…”
* {{Narm}}: On the first four or five recordings, Ed Roland had a tendency to add a "W" sound to the first word of almost any line that began with a vowel. It sounded like he was either inserting ad-libbed "Whoa..." or "Well..." but slurring it into the first word of the line, such as "She doesn't care/what the prophets say/w'anymore" or "w'all the words that I need to hear". Whatever the case, it made for some unintentional comedy, especially as one line that began with the words "I believe" became "Why believe that love comes round and round." He got better at not doing that around the point of "Blender", but one occasionally still slips in.
* ReplacementScrappy: To some fans, the band lost all its magic by getting rid of Ross Childress. To these fans, Joel Kosche and Jess Triplett are poor substitutes, placeholders only, and the band can be clearly marked as going downhill after Ross's departure. Considering the circumstances under which Ross left, the idea of him ever returning is a pipe dream, but you'll still hear these fans dedicated to the idea that Ross should return. One of them shouted these sentiments to Ed Roland at a concert, earning a tongue-lashing from the usually cool, calm and collected Ed.
* SignatureSong: "Shine", of course. To lesser extents, "December" and "The World I Know".
