* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: Popular enough in France, which was among the first countries outside of Japan to have it published, that they bothered to do a dub for all seasons. There was a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ql-6gcGudws big convention event at Japan Expo]] in collaboration with TV Tokyo to promote the 2016 series, which was featured in an episode.
* {{Moe}}:
** Chi is ridiculously cute, being a wide-eyed, tiny, baby-talking kitten who just wants to cuddle up to her family.
** Yohei is a sweet, playful toddler who becomes close friends with his new kitten.
* SugarWiki/SweetDreamsFuel: Seeing an adorable baby kitten find her home with a family is guaranteed to tug at the heartstrings.
* ViewerGenderConfusion: It's not immediately clear what Chi's gender is, not helped by Mr. Yamada calling her a boy early in Volume 1. Easily justified in the story as the female Chi is only a few months old and gender identification can be difficult at a young age.
%% ** Also [[spoiler: Cocchi, who is male,]] from the manga and OVA.
* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids: ZigZagged. The series is about a cute little kitty cat and it's in a...seinen manga magazine. There is nothing actually inappropriate for young kids in the series though (indeed, the anime aired on preschool channel [=JimJam=] alongside such fare as Franchise/HelloKitty and WesternAnimation/AngelinaBallerina), so how the heck a manga as child friendly as this ended up in a seinen magazine will be a RiddleForTheAges. (FridgeLogic suggests that the staff of the magazine probably thought Chi's Sweet Home would serve as a palate cleanser for the readers in case the seinen mangas got too violent for their taste). The animated series on the other hand was marketed towards children, which gave it a morning time slot. This isn't even the first family friendly cat manga to be published in Weekly Morning, as there was also ''What's Michael'' in the 80s, though its more of a gag comedy than the candy cute ''Chi''.
