* AwardSnub: They were nominated for the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame for the eighth time in 2013.
** While Nile Rodgers was selected to receive the Award for Musical Excellence, they're now up to eleven nominations (and, possibly, counting).
* EpicRiff: A few, but most epically of all, the much-copied bassline from "Good Times".
** There's also "I Want Your Love".
* SampledUp: Although it's a session remake rather than a direct sample, "Rapper's Delight" by Music/TheSugarhillGang effectively did this to "Good Times"... briefly. Though now the two songs are probably about equally well-known, not least because the rip-off is so infamous. Rodgers and Edwards actually liked "Rapper's Delight" and incorporated bits of it into their own live performances later on; they just didn't like not getting paid for it. It was all sorted out in the end.
** Never forget Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five's "The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash on The Wheels of Steel".
** Another, odder example of this trope regarding "Good Times" is the song's ''bassline'', which to casual music listeners is better associated with Music/{{Queen|Band}}'s "Another One Bites the Dust" than with the Chic song that inspired it. The Queen song's bassline isn't an exact match apart from the first three notes, but the similarity is close enough to make the association instantaneous for most.
** Also "Soup For One", known to the rest of the world as Modjo's "Lady (Hear Me Tonight)".
** "Soup For One" was effectively RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap by the success of "Lady", and just like "Good Times"/"Rapper's Delight", it's now unthinkable that they would play "Soup For One" ''without'' segueing into "Lady".
** Alcazar's "Crying At the Discotheque" covered up "Spacer". According to Music/PetShopBoys' Chris Lowe, "they took the backing track and wrote a better song over the top".
* SignatureSong: "Le Freak". They were also responsible for the signature songs of two other acts: Sister Sledge ("We Are Family") and Sheila & B. Devotion ("Spacer").
