* EpicRiff: No shortage of these.
* EveryoneIsJesusInPurgatory: Due to the band's professed Christian faith, someone will inevitably claim that a given song is related to Christianity, even when its not. "The Clincher", in particular, was thought by many to be about the crucifixion (its chorus goes "Could we have known/Never would I/Have helped to nail down"), even though WordOfGod says it's about claustrophobia.
* FauxSymbolism: The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43pDBP9HgAw music video for "Mia"]] is pretty rife with a mix between Christian imagery and a little {{squick}}.
* HarsherInHindsight: [[DysfunctionalFamily The subject]] of "Family System" is a lot more awkward now that some ''actual'' familial dysfunction among the band resulted in Joe leaving (either fired or quitting voluntarily).
* SignatureSong: Probably "The Red", although "Send the Pain Below" is their highest-charting single.
** "Jars" and "Face to the Floor" also are very well-known.
* TearJerker:
** "Send the Pain Below". If you can get past the [[WordSaladLyrics odd lyrics]], it's actually from the perspective of someone being emotionally abused.
** "One Lonely Visitor", "Bend the Bracket", "Saferwaters", "Twinge", and "Endlessly" all qualify as well.
