* AlternateAesopInterpretation:
** Some people took away from this special that if you take drugs, all of your favorite cartoon characters will start talking to you -- granted, all they seem to be interested in talking about is what an idiot and a loser you are for doing drugs, but it ''would'' be at least a novelty.
** The subplot with Corey seems to have as its moral, "Be more attentive to your younger siblings and cognizant of how your actions can influence them." While the amount of grief Michael gets for pot is insane, his neglecting his younger sister and making her think she needs to get high to get his attention is a genuine fault and he ought to be setting a better example for her.
** ParentalNeglect has consequences. If that father wasn't so damned obsessed with beer, he probably would notice Michael's suspicious behavior.
* {{Anvilicious}}: There is nothing in the world more anvilicious than this special, except possibly flashing ''' "[[DrugsAreBad DRUGS ARE BAD FOR YOU]]" ''' for half an hour. It actually tries to drop multiple anvils at once: the anti-drug one, the one about talking to others if you know someone has a real problem with drugs and/or is engaging in self-destructive or criminal behavior because of them, and [[ParentalBonus one for the parents about watching your children like hawks for any sign of deviance]]. While the third is pretty groan-inducing as well, the Corey subplot actually makes the good point that confronting problems like this directly once you think it's become a problem, rather than just letting it fester and leaving your loved one alone, is usually the best way keep both individuals ''and'' families healthy, so [[AnAesop this one]] usually gets the fewest complaints.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMoments: Michael sending Smoke packing after he tried to hook Corey on weed is a genuinely uplifting moment. Michael shows is love for his sister is more potent than his addiction.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: "Wonderful Ways to Say No" is admittedly very catchy. It helps that it was written by Disney music legends Creator/HowardAshman and Music/AlanMenken.
* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: Pooh has some genuinely sweet moments in the special through his friendship with Corey and encouraging her to tell her parents about Michael.
* HilariousInHindsight: [[WesternAnimation/AlvinAndTheChipmunks Simon]] calling marijuana "an unlawful substance", considering that marijuana can be prescribed for medicinal purposes, and Canada and multiple US states have legalized it as of TheNewTwenties (though to be fair, it would still be illegal for Michael to buy it, as he's a minor).
* InformedWrongness: Michelangelo of the ''WesternAnimation/{{Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles|1987}}'' chastises Michael for trying to get his wallet back after it's stolen. Bear in mind that not 5 minutes ago, Michael was chastised for stealing a piggy bank, giving the impression that both stealing ''and'' getting your stolen things back are bad. It could be {{Hand Wave}}d as Michelangelo getting Michael to focus on one thing at a time.
* JustHereForGodzilla: Most modern audiences (and even a few kids that saw it when it originally aired) don't care about the special's DrugsAreBad message, and mainly watch it to see Bugs Bunny, Alf, the Chipmunks, Garfield, the Muppet Babies, Tigger, Pooh, and Michelangelo share a song together.
* {{Narm}}:
** There's an unintentional hilariousness to hearing Bugs Bunny and Simon Seville talk about joints and marijuana.
** It'd be one thing to hear Kermit talk about it. Hearing '''Baby''' Kermit talk about it is an entirely different experience.
* NightmareFuel:
** Despite the special's bizarre nature, there's a truly [[MindScrew mind-breaking]] dream sequence right about when Mikey hits rock-bottom.
** Occasionally, for a [[FreezeFrameBonus frame or two]], Smoke's face is replaced with a skull.
* RetroactiveRecognition: [[WesternAnimation/AGoofyMovie Max Goof]] is apparently doing drugs.
* SoBadItsGood: It's a [[TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot wasted opportunity for a truly memorable crossover]] (in the way audiences then were hoping), but it's still amusing [[CluelessAesop watching classic cartoon characters try to tackle a subject like drug abuse]].
* TearJerker: While the special is over-the-top, there are a few moments of genuine pathos.
** A very brief moment after Michael hurts Corey's arm. Even after he apologizes, she and Pooh slam the door on him and tears start pouring from his eyes. Even if it's a brief shot, it shows that he instantly regrets being a BigBrotherBully.
** It can be a bit heartbreaking to hear Winnie-the-Pooh and Tigger singing about how the viewer will [[GrowingUpSucks outgrow them]] and perhaps forget them - a concept that Disney would concretely explore a few decades later in ''Film/ChristopherRobin'' and on a smaller scale, ''VideoGame/KingdomHeartsIII''.
** The fact that Corey feels so neglected and alone that she almost gives in to Smoke's temptation to start smoking weed herself. Thankfully, Michael steps in and puts a stop to it.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: An official crossover starring popular characters from UsefulNotes/TheRenaissanceAgeOfAnimation ''and'' a few from ''UsefulNotes/TheGoldenAgeOfAnimation''. It's too bad this coincided with a preachy special about a teenager with drug problems. And even then, they had to make this a FakeCrossover by having the characters come to life from merchandise items, ''Franchise/ToyStory''-style, rather than admitting the characters were themselves.
* UnexpectedCharacter: For contemporary viewers, Series/{{Alf}}, given that his original live-action sitcom is far better known than the AnimatedAdaptation which this special based his appearance on.
* UnintentionalPeriodPiece:
** The tactics and arguments used in the special are ''very'' much dated it to the height of the UsefulNotes/TheWarOnDrugs. TheAggressiveDrugDealer, MarijuanaIsLSD, "Just Say No", and the fact that the only drug other than crack cocaine mentioned is marijuana all put it right in the early 90s. In the [=21st=] century, the complete lack of discussion of heroin or other opiates feels almost mind-boggling (and it's been occasionally noted that a lot of the imagery and even the heavy-handedness of the special would probably work better and feel more appropriate in the context of opiate addiction).
** Not to mention, marijuana has now become legal in numerous jurisdictions across the US. And many communities (even ones where marijuana is illegal) have stopped fervently policing the use of the drug. Mikey would probably get in trouble for being an underage user however.
** Including Series/{{Alf}} also instantly dates the special, since he didn't exactly prove to have the shelf life of the other characters involved in it.
* ValuesDissonance:
** In the early 90s, the cartoon was a standard "Just Say No" [=PSA=]. Nowadays, with greater understanding of the dubious (at best) effectiveness of these messages, on top of the growing unpopularity of the tactics used in the War on Drugs, the characters who preach to Mikey and yell at him over his use of pot come across as arrogant and holier-than-thou than helpful.
** Marijuana has not only since been legalized in many states (mostly for medical purposes but sometimes recreational), but it's been found to not be the life-destroying drug that groups like D.A.R.E. have hyped it up as, and in fact its status as a controlled substance has been alleged to be rooted in racism. The fact the film portrays every kid who does pot even once as transforming into a delinquent doesn't help matters. [[DownplayedTrope That being said]], Michael is still too young to legally take weed unless he had a prescription for it.
* WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids: Kids who grew up in the nineties will remember this ScareEmStraight anti-drug special as "the one that promised all your favorite cartoon characters in one place, then gave you BodyHorror nightmares".
