* BrokenBase: Definitely one in the ''VideoGame/SuperMarioWorld'' romhacking community. While applauded for its creative use of ASM (custom bosses, level gimmicks, etc.) the hack has been criticized heavily for its poor level design, [[PlatformHell obnoxiously hard difficulty curve]], and over-reliance on said-ASM.
* HilariousInHindsight:
** The Cheep Demo (7.5) had you fight [[VideoGame/KirbySuperStar Galactic Nova]] inside a sidescrolling shooter-style level with Yoshi. [[spoiler: Skip ahead to ''VideoGame/KirbyPlanetRobobot'', where the true final boss is basically a Nova lookalike, even throwing its junk at you ... it's more of a first-person view this time though, similar to ''Franchise/StarFox'']].
** This game features the ''VideoGame/MegaMan7'' Wily Capsule turning out to be piloted by a [[ActuallyADoombot fake Wily]]. ''VideoGame/MegaMan8BitDeathmatch'' would do the same thing years later.
* ThatOneLevel: Titanic, mostly because of the ''extremely'' strict time limit that makes it a nightmare even with save states.
* {{Woolseyism}}: The English translation, unofficially done by a completely random SMWC user, more or less makes up all the dialogue based on what is happening rather than translating the Japanese text. A rare example of this not resulting in a GagDub, as the dialogue is actually often ''more'' serious than the original text, which was filled with pop-culture references. Also, Carol's English is probably more like IntentionalEngrishForFunny.
