* AwardSnub: Body Count was nominated for a Grammy for "Best Metal Performance" in 2018 for the song "Black Hoodie". Like with many past awards, name recognition would usually play a huge part as many metalheads predicted that Body Count would earn the Grammy solely because Ice-T is the band's frontman. Unfortunately, that was not the case as Music/{{Mastodon}} won the award instead.
* CreatorBacklash: Ice-T wasn't too happy with how ''Murder for Hire'' turned out, saying that it was rushed out the door. No tracks from the album have been played live since its release.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: While they aren't universally respected like, say Iron Maiden or Slayer, they are quite a bit more popular among metalheads than one might expect. It's to the point that many have criticized the highly elitist website Metal Archives for not adding them to their database solely because their frontman is a rapper, as despite featuring rapping on some songs (mostly in later albums), their music itself has no hip-hop influences whatsoever.
* GatewaySeries: To HeavyMetal and PunkRock for rap fans and vice-versa.
* HilariousInHindsight: Ice-T has gone from singing about killing cops to [[Series/LawAndOrderSpecialVictimsUnit playing a cop on TV]].
* {{Narm}}: Ice-T's BigNo in "The Winner Loses".
* SignatureSong: "There Goes the Neighborhood" or "Cop Killer"
* TearJerker: "The Winner Loses" from ''[[Music/BodyCountAlbum Body Count]]'', in which a crack addict dies.
