* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic:
** Many of the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAdm9ssE6gk trailers]] have parts of "The Sun's Gone Dim And The Sky's Turned Black" by Johann Johannson as their soundtrack.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TICioLTs1Nw For Home, Family, And Country]], which is the music that plays while the Marines are flying over LA. And also [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26cDgJN5XxA Main Titles]] and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlT0tCQKvIA We Are Still Here]].
** "Marines Don't Quit" from the scene where Nantz tells Lockett that he remembers that TheDeadHaveNames.
* ClicheStorm: A group of Marines, one about to get married, one trying to gain citizenship, one two days from retirement, one with a baby on the way, one a fresh-faced rookie, one struggling to cope, and one who lost his brother, use the power of teamwork and MoreDakka to defend the United States from an AlienInvasion.
* CriticalDissonance: The movie was lambasted by critics but enjoyed a modest box office success and audience response. It's mostly ''Film/BlackHawkDown'' with aliens and enjoyment of the film pretty much depends on whether or not you can get into that.
* FanNickname: The aliens are never really named (though the soldiers seem to settle on ants) -- there are lots of nicknames. Some call the aliens "[[FunWithAcronyms BLAAs]]" for "Battle Los Angeles Aliens". Another nickname for them is Land Sharks.
* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: When Nantz decides to [[spoiler: go after the drone control center]] alone, the other Marines come along, despite his orders to stay behind, as well as knowing that it's most likely a suicide mission.
* ParanoiaFuel:
** The aliens can hide anywhere where's enough water, including ''in your pool.''
** Aliens dragging you off to do ''God knows what''.
* TheProblemWithLicensedGames: The ''Battle: Los Angeles'' game is a mediocre FPS with below-average graphics that came and went.
* RetroactiveRecognition: Creator/MichaelPena as Mr. Rincon.
* ScifiGhetto: Mixed reviews, but the scifi fans seem to enjoy its realistic depiction of how an alien invasion could go. In particular, aspects that have been lauded in other films were less so in this one because it wasn't 'real', such as the faux-documentary style that involves JitterCam.
** The director himself said he didn't want to make a science fiction movie but rather a war movie in which the enemy happens to be aliens.
* SoOkayItsAverage: The main consensus, with many viewers and critics admitting it still does plenty of intriguing things regarding the AlienInvasion genre but still doesn't live up to its awesome previews.
