* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: TropeMaker and [[WebVideo/TheNostalgiaChick indirect]] [[TropeNamer namer]], named after the weird, random musical scene with King Gator.
** CommonKnowledge: Ironically, while King Gator's out of place music number sticks in people's mind, they generally forget that [[spoiler: King Gator ''does'', in fact, [[ChekhovsGunman return to defeat Carface and]] ''attempt'' to save Charlie (who dies from losing his life watch, nevertheless).]] The musical number is so distracting that it's also easy to forget that the whole thing started out as an homage to Film/KingKong.
** Carface having access, however, to ''an actual laser pistol'' can be a bit odd as SchizoTech.
** Belladonna's part of ''I Always Get Emotional At Christmas Time''. It really has nothing to do with the plot and kind of comes out of nowhere, as the musical number is Killer's until she shows up and her part is mainly just to make it longer. [[TropesAreNotBad Not that its a bad thing]], it works very well as a VillainSong.
* ContestedSequel: While most fans of the first movie consider the second to be inferior because they say that it mostly lacks everything from the original, some say that it's a superior followup to the original because it's [[LighterAndSofter not depressing]] and it has a good story and catchy songs.
* CriticalBacklash: While the film has retroactively gained a loyal fanbase and good reception, the films initial release was widely panned by critics, so much so that Bluth's american tour to promote the film was ended very early, according to his online biography.
* CryForTheDevil - Ghost Of Christmas Past in ''The Christmas Carol'' reveals that Carface had a rather tragic past that certainly makes one feel sorry for him.
* EarWorm: [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-g710mN4YNw "What's mine! Is yours! What's yours! Is mine! The more your share! The more the sun will shine!"]]
** Many reviews cited songs like this as the key reason why ''Disney/TheLittleMermaid'' pwned this movie.
** "You Can't Keep A Good Dog Down"
** ''It feels so good to be bad ! So delicious to be a despicable cad ! It's just so thrilling and so fulfilling to give somebody the worst time they've ever had ! It feels so good to be bad !''.
*** The [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdWCzO9GR78 Castilian version]] would also count. Bonus points for being the same actor that sang [[Disney/TheLionKing Scar]].
** [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWbGm-P5PUY Clean Up Your Act]].
** And, ''Let's make music together! Let's make sweet harmony! Ohhh!''
* EnsembleDarkhorse: The Grand Chawhee.
** A more straight example would be King Gator, for [[MemeticMutation obvious]] [[BigLippedAlligatorMoment reasons]].
* EvilIsCool: Some people says that Red the demon cat from the second movie is even better than Carface.
* HarsherInHindsight: Learning [[TearJerker what]] [[OffingTheOffspring happened]] to the voice actress for Anne-Marie can definitely make certain aspects of the first film seem like this.
* HilariousInHindsight: One of the supporting characters in ''Disney/ThePrincessAndTheFrog'' is a musically inclined, New Orleans [[BigLippedAlligatorMoment big lipped alligator]].
** Also, Ken Page voices a [[WesternAnimation/TheNightmareBeforeChristmas big fat green overacting character who was about to eat one of the heroes.]]
* TheProblemWithLicensedGames: The game on Amiga and DOS is just a collection of poorly programmed mini-games tied together with cutscenes.
* WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids: This undoubtedly has to be Creator/DonBluth's darkest film. It has relatively small "kid-friendly" scenes in between the controversial themes of gambling, first degree murder, theft, drinking, terrifying images of {{Hell}} and {{Satan}}, and the real clincher, [[spoiler:Killing the main protagonist at the end]], which is unheard of in Western animation for children.
* TheWoobie: Anne-Marie. The RealitySubtext on the main page doesn't make it any better.
** Itchy, after his run-in with Carface near the end of the movie.
** Charlie, though he can border on JerkassWoobie at times also counts. After being put through hell and having to say goodbye to Anna Marie with tears rolling down his face, he most definitely needs a hug.
