* FauxSymbolism: It's amazing how Marvel got away with publishing a Science Fiction version of The Crucifixion in one of their comics.
** The Church of Universal Truth, an evil religious alien organization that Adam battled, also has Christian trappings.
*** A lot of this was AuthorAppeal at the time. Jim Starlin is an atheist and was a very strong opponent of organized religion. This would also explain the second sequel to ''Comicbook/TheInfinityGauntlet'' called ''The Infinity Crusade'', which had very strong religious overtones that were specifically handled in a negative way. Starlin would later admit he was a little {{anvilicious}} in his earlier stories.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Bringing back this relic meant the more interesting Warlock from ''X-men'' had to die, because two characters can't have the same name.
* UnfortunateImplications: Apparently "Him" was supposed to look "perfect" which is why he looks like a blonde, golden-skinned man.
