* HilariousInHindsight: In the film, Ryer's apartment features not one, but ''two'' [[UsefulNotes/MajorLeagueBaseball Chicago Cubs]] pennants, indicating World Series wins in 2022 and 2046. The Cubs finally won the World Series in 2016.
* SpecialEffectFailure:
** Apparently, the film version was released when the FX weren't completely finished due to the production company's bankruptcy. Notable is that the CGI city of the future looks an awful lot like [[ToyTime Toy Land]].
** A scene where two characters are shown walking down the street has the CGI scenery behind them move at a ''different speed'' than the characters' walking speed, making them look like they are walking on a treadmill.
** Three words: Creator/BenKingsley's [[https://cache.moviestillsdb.com/i/500x/qn65wwbb/a-sound-of-thunder-lg.jpg wig]]. Not only can you see the boundary between his skin and the wig multiple times, but the fake hair's quality and styling look more akin to something you'd find in a cheap Halloween costume, with some even comparing Kingsley's appearance to [[Film/ThisIslandEarth Exeter]].
* SugarWiki/NoProblemWithLicensedGames: The Game Boy Advance game based on the film is a fun shoot-em-up with decent multiplayer.
* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: The movie unwittingly makes humanity ''as a whole'' this by implying the future is full of bloodthirsty psychopaths. After all wild animals were eradicated, hunters proceeded to attack and eradicate captive animals in zoos and wildlife parks for trophies and fun. And when functioning time travel is invented, instead of using it for peaceful means or to correct tragedies, it is instead used to send people back in time to kill ''even more'' animals. By the end of the time waves, a lot of viewers considered it karma that humanity was wiped out and replaced.
