* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Since TheReveal changes absolutely everything about the film, it makes one question what they know/perceive about the characters. For example:
** What is the deal with Kale and Cleo? Are they genuinely as sinister as they are framed? Or is that a result of Rocky's paranoid, drug-fueled mind? Kale definitely seems to suspect something is up with Cliff, and calls him out on the man lying. Is that why he is rude and intimidating towards Cliff, as well as being insistent that Cleo not speak to or be near the couple? Are they following the couples? If so, than why? Or is it genuinely a coincidence?
*** Similarly, Cliff's behavior towards Kale makes more sense after TheReveal. [[spoiler: He is actually a SerialKiller and therefore would both not want people too close. Additionally, as Kale is much larger and more muscular than him, Rocky likely sees him as a threat.]]
** How much does Nick (and Gina, for that matter) suspect about Cliff? Upon rewatch, Nick definitely seems to be poking at Cliff and testing his reactions. That or scare him off. On the other hand, Nick does let himself be caught unaware by Nick [[spoiler: when it is revealed that he and Cydney are a pair of SerialKiller]].
** How much of Nick's crazy stories are true? He is definitely a badass and DOES genuinely have metal plate in his head, so it is possible it is all true? It is also possible some of it is true, and Nick embellised the rest to [[spoiler: scare Nick/Rocky and Cydney off]].
* CatharsisFactor: [[spoiler: Gina kicking Rocky in the head is pretty satisfying when one bears in mind, she's doing this on behalf of all those innocent people he killed and assimilated. Those victims had lives outside of being Rocky's latest persona-of-the-week, among them being the real Cliff and Cydney. Her line "Well you ain't [my husband]" lends a certain thrill of ShutUpHannibal that lets Rocky know he messed with [[MuggingTheMonster the wrong power couple]].]]
* CompleteMonster: [[spoiler:Cliff, real name Rocky, appears to be a nice, jovial husband on a honeymoon trip to Hawaii, but is actually one half of a SerialKiller duo alongside his partner, Cydney. In the past, he seduced a woman and took her to the lake, where he revealed that he [[BadPeopleAbuseAnimals hanged her neighbor’s Labrador]], threatening to kill her if she were to ever tell anyone. Living a life of crime due to feeling alienated by society, Rocky manipulates/[[DomesticAbuse abuses]] his partner into helping him murder and take the identities of multiple couples, while also collecting their teeth and cutting off their fingertips, planning on taking 100 different lives to continue his killing spree. Their most recent victims, Cliff and Cydney, cause them to have to hide from the police on a remote island. Discovering that cops are searching the island for them, Rocky decides to [[FrameUp frame]] a couple for the murders and kill another one so that he and his partner can avoid detection. When Gina discovers who he really is, he tries to kill her, gleefully murdering four people who were trying to help her. When Nick and Gina reunite, Rocky tries to have the cops shoot Nick, attempting to kill them himself when his plan fails]].
* HilariousInHindsight:
** Creator/ChrisHemsworth plays a suspicious aggressive liberal character who is [[spoiler:a RedHerring as a psychotic serial killer]], then cut to ''Film/BadTimesAtTheElRoyale'' where Hemsworth does get to play an actual psychotic killer who is a Charles Manson-like cult leader.
** Creator/TimothyOlyphant's character self-describes himself as a [[Franchise/StarWars Jedi]], then comes when Olyphant joins the cast of ''Series/TheMandalorian'' for its second season.
* LesYay:
--> '''Nick:''' Gina can take care of herself.\\
'''Cliff:''' I meant Cydney.\\
'''Nick:''' Oh. Well Gina can take care of her too...
* TearJerker: [[spoiler: When one thinks about, it's sad to think about the fates of the ''real'' Cliff and Cydney. They had just gotten married, on their honeymoon and on the verge of living together, HappilyMarried. ...[[ShootTheDog Then Rocky murders them]]. He and his girlfriend quite literally steal their lives and reduces them to unidentifiable victims in a long slew of serial killings. They were about to have a happy marriage, and they were robbed of that, all because Rocky [[LackOfEmpathy wanted a little excitement]].]]
