->"My name is Optimus Prime, and I send this message: Though we did not choose to be of Earth, it would seem that we are here to stay. If you approach this planet with hostile intent, know this: We will defend ourselves. We will defend humanity. We will defend - our home."

Transformers Prime is a SixtyFiveEpisodeCartoon in the Franchise/Transformers franchise. The series tells the story of a skeleton crew of Autobots left to defend Earth in case the Decepticons return, which, of course, they do.

Accidentally caught up in the action are three humans: Jack, Rafael and Miko, who befriend the Autobots. They act mostly as Naive Newcomers as they watch the robots battle it out, though they do prove useful in their own way due to the limited number of Autobots.

The first season details the renewal of the Autobot-Decepticon war, while the Autobots bond with their new human friends. Meanwhile, Starscream's life falls apart as he continuously fails to usurp the recently returned Megatron. A shocking revelation in the season finale forces Optimus and Megatron to work together, and the reprecussions launch an arms race throughout the second season over relics from Cybertron. The second season has a literally explosive ending and a major upheaval of the show's status quo, and the third season, subtitled Beast Hunters deals with three arcs - resolving the reprecussions of the second season finale, a plot by Megatron to clone a new army of Predacons, and a final struggle over the fate of Cybertron. The series would conclude with a GrandFinale three-part "movie", in which the lingering threads of the MythArc are resolved and the seeds of the future are planted.

The show is animated in CGI but carries a bit of a 2-D flair. Here is the opening sequence for the series. The overall look and tone of the show follows closely with the live-action films (with Optimus, Bumblebee and Megatron having similar designs) while it continues to take inspiration from many other Transformers incarnations, and it has inspired a new MMO game, TransformersUniverse. Though criticized for its' plotting and generous use of [=MacGuffins=] and StatusQuoIsGod, the show has nevertheless accumulated not only good ratings, but has become one of the most highly-praised incarnations of the franchise for its high production standards in both writing and animation.

According to Hasbro, Prime is a part of a greater continuity called the Franchise/TransformersAlignedUniverse and is intended to link up with other Transformers fiction such as VideoGame/TransformersWarForCybertron. Because it is being worked on by different creative organizations, the individual works are are considered to be part of a "continuity family" in much the same way as the G1 cartoon and comics series share the same themes but not a strict line of continuity.

WesternAnimation/TransformersRobotsInDisguise, a sequel series, has been announced to air in 2015 which will combine Prime's artstyle with that of Rescue Bots.
