The fifth direct-to-video installment of the [[Franchise/ScoobyDoo Scooby-Doo franchise]], ''Scooby-Doo and the Legend of the Vampire'' was produced by [[Creator/WarnerBros Warner Bros. Animation]] along with including copyright for [[Creator/HannaBarbera Hanna-Barbera Cartoons, Inc.]] and [[WesternAnimation/KryptoTheSuperdog directed by Scott Jeralds]]. Oh, wait sorry, wrong {{western animation}} with talking dog.

Anyways, it reunites Creator/FrankWelker, Creator/CaseyKasem, [[RoleReprisal Heather North]] and [[RoleReprisal Nicole Jaffe]] from ''WesternAnimation/TheNewScoobyDooMovies'', with the sole exception of Creator/DonMessick who passed away five years prior.

Join Scooby and Mystery Inc. as they vacation in the [[UsefulNotes/{{Australia}} land Down Under]] where they attend a music festival held at Vampire Rock. Unfortunately, a mystery rises when they learn a legendary Australian creature called the “Yowie Yahoo” is kidnapping musical acts and turning them into vampires. Masquerading as a [[HeavyMetal heavy metal band]], the gang must survive a trio of [[RockAndRoll rock-and-roll]] vampires if they want to crack the mystery surrounding [[TitleDrop the legend of the vampire]].

* ArtShift: This movie marks the first change in the series. Starting here the films go for a flatter old-school revival art in the process departing from the darker shading and effects used previously. It also abandons the more modern cast designs used by the first four movies.
* CallBack: The return of the Hex Girls from ''[[WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooAndTheWitchsGhost The Witch's Ghost]]''. The gang mentions that they've met before, likely referring to the events of the movie.
* LighterAndSofter: It’s the first to return to the lighter tone than that of the previous four movies. It's especially noticeable with The Hex Girls. Their demeanors are lighter and Thorn was redesigned to be less 'scary'.
* MsFanservice: Daphne's seen in a bikini a couple of times, one of which is when she and the rest of the gang are hanging out at Bondi Beach in Sydney.
** HelloNurse / DudeMagnet: Some Australian lifeguards take notice of this and start flirting with Daphne, which makes [[ImpliedLoveInterest Fred]] jealous.
* MusicalNod: The movie brings back a lot of the soundtrack and sound effects from the older shows, which the franchise hasn't since repeated.
* MythologyGag: In [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPYtizXOlMI the opening sequence]] introducing the gang, several shots from [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2kuLBEghyI the original 1969 opening]] are recreated.
** The Gang pose as a band to enter the contest as a ruse for their investigation, and one of the other bands' members snarkily asks who'd ever heard of a band with a ''dog'' in it. Early concepts for the original ''ScoobyDoo'' cartoon depicted the Gang as a traveling rock group, with a bongo-playing sheepdog as their TeamPet.
* RoleReprisal:
** Creator/CaseyKasem went back voicing Shaggy for the rest of the [[WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooDirectToVideoFilmSeries Scooby-Doo direct-to-videos]] series until [[WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooAndTheSamuraiSword the thirteenth installment]] and both Heather North and Nicole Jaffe reprised their roles of Daphne and Velma, respectively. Fred and Scooby still have the same [[Creator/FrankWelker voice actor]].
** The Hex Girls return, with Jennifer Hale, Kimberley Brooks, and Jane Wielden once again voicing Thorn, Dusk, and Luna .
* ScoobyDooHoax: [[spoiler:The first to return to the first format with guys in masks. It's also played around with a little bit.]].
