Okay, so here's the pitch. It's the adventures of a kid and his talking pet snake. Not good enough for you? Well, how about we bring in the creators of the surreal 90s sitcom ''Series/TheAdventuresOfPeteAndPete'' and the man behind a {{nightmare fuel}}-filled dark comedy called ''WesternAnimation/TheMarvelousMisadventuresOfFlapjack'' as key producers? Oh, I see we've got your attention. Created by Jim Dirschberger, Andreas Trolf, and Jay Howell -- the latter of which worked as a character designer for ''WesternAnimation/BobsBurgers'' -- ''Sanjay and Craig'' is a Creator/{{Nickelodeon}} cartoon about a 12-year-old boy named Sanjay (Maulik Pancholy), his talking pet snake named Craig (Chris Hardwick), and the trouble they get into while running around their suburban town of Lundgren. Other main characters include Sanjay's Mom (a doctor) and Dad (owner of an electronics store), his best friends Megan and Hector, and his crush, Belle Pepper.

The show also likes to stretch its TV-Y7 rating. A lot.

NeedsWikiMagicLove on describing tropes.

!!Tropes present:
* ABoyAndHisX: Snake in this case.
* AbusiveParents: Mr. Noodman's father enjoys torturing his son with snakes, even when he's an adult.
** Must be a family tradition as Noodman's grandfather does the same thing to his dad, as well as his great-grandfather, and his great great-grandfather.
* TheAce: Remmington Tufflips
* AllBalloonsHaveHelium: "The Giving G"
* AmbiguouslyGay: Mr. Noodman, who possesses many flamboyant mannerisms.
* AnnoyingLaugh: A plot point in "Laugh Quake". Each of the title characters thinks the other has an annoying laugh, so they try to remedy it by going to a comedy club, where they are eventually kicked out. Later, both get crapped on by a bird, trying (and ultimately failing) to hold in their laughter, which eventually starts a chain reaction.
* ArtisticLicenseBiology: In "Day of the Snake" Sanjay tastes an extremely volatile drop of wing sauce, causing his tongue to turn to ash and fall apart revealing a bone frame. Later on Craig milks an obviously male falcon with an ''udder''.
* BigBad: Mr. Noodman.
* BigEater: Craig eats a whole plate of hot wings in one gulp.
* BodyHorror
** Craig turning himself inside out in "Unbarfable".

* GrossoutShow: Not too over the top but there are a few cases of this.

* ShapedLikeItself: "Doors are for people who use doors."
* SitcomArchNemesis: Noodman. Sanjay refers to him as such in one of the promos.
* ShoutOut: "Laugh Quake" opens with an ImagineSpot stylized like ''Anime/DragonBallZ''.
** The name of their town is Lundgren, after 80's action hero Dolph Lundgren (the Russian guy from ''Film/RockyIV'' and the live action ''He-Man'' movie).
** "Trouble Dare" serves as one big, sloppy love letter to Family [[Series/DoubleDare1986 Double Dare]], complete with Marc Summers and Harvey reprising their roles.
* SpitTake: Sanjay does one through his nose and ears ten seconds into "Brett Venom, M.D." after hearing one of his mom's nurse stories.
