''[[http://sodiumeyes.com Sodium Eyes]]'' ([[http://sodiumeyes.com/2007/11/08/damning-evidence/ first strip]]) is a SliceOfLife {{Webcomic}} centered on the day-to-day activities of four girls living in a CityWithNoName. Like many SliceOfLife series, it's not ''about'' anything in particular, but rather simply jumps from one SeinfeldianConversation to the next, with occasional short story arcs. The main characters are:

* '''Kaela Paulsen''', a masseuse and a part-time model. Extremely empathetic and insightful, and her status as TeamMom lends her an air of maturity and sophistication. Kaela is also the only one of the girls who seems to have a job. (The rest were college students for the duration of the first part of the comic.)
* '''Lumina Rosendahl''', a sweet, innocent artist-girl with [[{{Meganekko}} glasses]] and [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair green hair]]. In one of the few artistic liberties the author has allowed himself, Lumina is a literal FriendToAllLivingThings, and early in the comic made the decision to stop eating meat. She went to high school with Kaela, since which time she [[spoiler:has harbored some not-so-secret feelings for Kaela (see previous comments regarding Kaela's empathy and intuition)]].
* '''Miya Chapman''', a wordsmith and verbal fencer of the highest caliber. Some might find her speech patterns eerily similar to those of [[Webcomic/PennyArcade Tycho Brahe]]. She's a quick thinker and is always ready with a joke, no matter the topic of conversation. Miya is also an {{Otaku}}, with a particular fondness for ''LightNovel/HaruhiSuzumiya''.
* '''Neiko Sayuki''', the last of the girls to join the main cast, is an introverted and [[DeadpanSnarker sarcastic]] girl of Japanese ancestry. While at first seemingly reluctant to admit to anyone (including herself) that she was actually coming to consider the other three friends, she's since come out of her shell a bit and softened up a bit. Neiko's good with computers and is something of a gamer.

Other characters gradually joined the cast and added slightly different perspectives, broadening the main cast's relationships out beyond one another. These include Miya's little sister Sherry, some of the other girls' neighbors and classmates, and the staff of a local diner.

This webcomic went on hiatus in July 2011 for the author to work on a game called [[http://logigun.com Logigun]], which can be also be found on UsefulNotes/{{Steam}} [[http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=92951081 Greenlight]].

As of November 2013, the series has since come back out of hiatus, but with a slightly different structure and a noticeable shift in the art. It is now focused mostly around Miya and Neiko, with a half-monochrome, half-colored style that is somewhere between the fully colored art of the earlier comic and the less time-consuming looser strips common before the hiatus. WordOfGod is that pre-hiatus and post-hiatus strips are related but that the two comics will be "quite different" from each other, ultimately.

!!This webcomic provides examples of the following tropes:
* UsefulNotes/AmericanAccents: Sherry has a Southern accent; Miya deliberately excised hers to avoid preconceptions about her level of intelligence.
* {{Animesque}}
* ArtEvolution: Although the art has always been quite good, the style has evolved and changed over the course of the comic. The return from hiatus saw a noticeable shift, though mainly in that the characters' heads are now more circular and "shorter" than before.
* BuffySpeak: Despite Miya's GrammarNazi tendencies, she loves manipulating language until she's technically speaking proper English, but sounds almost nonsensical. She'll also gladly make up words but resents what she considers inelegant or poorly-crafted neologisms.
* CityWithNoName: Other than the fact that it's located somewhere north of the DeepSouth, and that it's probably somewhere in the continental US, nothing about the setting is really known.
* DeadpanSnarker:
** Neiko, also TheSnarkKnight.
** Miya, when she's not a LargeHam.
* FriendToAllLivingThings: Lumina
** Though she does [[http://sodiumeyes.com/2010/01/22/the-expected-response/ have]] [[http://sodiumeyes.com/2010/01/25/luminal-verocity/ one]] BerserkButton.
* GenericCuteness
* GrammarNazi: Miya. She apparently got Kaela to stop using "txt spk" in text messages.
* HalloweenEpisode: For a few strips around Halloween, the characters are dressed up, often in [[ShoutOut referential costumes]].
* HeadPet: [[http://sodiumeyes.com/2008/08/04/curiosity-and-the-cat/ Rao]]
* HookedUpAfterwards[=/=]OffScreenBreakup: During the TimeSkip[=/=]hiatus, turns out [[spoiler:Miya and Lumina got together... for less than a week, as Lumina dropped everything the second Kaela called up to invite her to move to France. Miya was even left saddled with Lumina's dog]].
* HumansAreFlawed: Lumina is haunted by certain neurological flaws in humans, as regards things like art - basically that our brains don't handle left and right equally, which results in inescapable mistakes for any artist. Neiko meanwhile has become jaded by humanity's flawed nature, wavering toward HumansAreBastards during her more cynical moments.
* InherentlyFunnyWords: [[http://sodiumeyes.com/2009/09/25/easy-crowd/ "Diaper."]]
** Miya later on criticizes this approach to humor, considering it generally lazy and uncreative.
* LargeHam: Miya, during some of her rants.
* LocalHangout: The Lucky Star cafe. {{Lampshade|Hanging}}d, as the cast ''specifically'' goes looking for a local coffee shop to serve as a "designated meeting place."
* {{Meganekko}}: Lumina
* {{Otaku}}: Miya
* PutOnABus: Late in the first run, Kaela eventually moved to France for her career. [[spoiler:It turns out during the hiatus, she invited Lumina to come out with her.]]
* SeinfeldianConversation: The comic mostly jumps from one to the next.
* SesquipedalianLoquaciousness: Miya sometimes approaches this, but hasn't really crossed the line. She does have a distinctly educated way of speaking, though.
* TeamMom: Kaela
* TechnicolorEyes: Red, green, yellow, blue, and purple. It's even in the title.
* TimeSkip: While the hiatus ran for about two and a half years, in-universe it's confirmed as only about one year.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Miya and Neiko, at first. It was really more "finally, a WorthyOpponent" than anything else.
