I '''CONJURE''' THIS INTREPID FANTASYSCAPE WITH TEARS BLED FROM THE WISDOM-WEARY EYES OF FIFTY THOUSAND IMAGINARY MAGICIANS. I PULL HEAVY DRAGS FROM THE BRUMES OF INSPIRATION WITH ENCHANTED BELLOWS MARAUDED FROM A GUILD OF CHURLISH MYTHICAL DWARVES. VAST BULBOUS RIDDLESPIDERS PUSH THE SILKEN STRANDS OF PURE WHIMSY THROUGH HIDEOUS ABDOMINAL SPINNERETS AND IT IS THAT WITH WHICH I WEAVE THIS AUDACIOUS COCOON OF EXQUISITE LIES. A peculiar sort of InteractiveComic/Flash game hybrid. '''''[[http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6 Homestuck]]''''' is the fourth and latest series of ''Webcomic/MSPaintAdventures'', a series of web comics done in the style of old [[InteractiveFiction text-based]] {{adventure game}}s, written by AndrewHussie (and the fans - through [[AudienceParticipation fan suggestions]] and [[AscendedFanon speculation]]). Homestuck started like the others, with every update prompted by a user suggestion, but it soon shed its suggestion box when the plot outgrew it, and has since become a multimedia ''[[MediumBlending thing]]'' which has grown to be truly enormous.

A young man stands in his bedroom. [[TheHerosBirthday It just so happens that today, the 13th of April, is this young man's birthday.]] Though it was 13 years ago he was given life, it is only today he will be given a name!

[[HelloInsertNameHere What will the name of this young man be?]]

...It will be Zoosmell Pooplord... er, sorry. It will be John Egbert. Our chief protagonist is one of four thirteen-year-old friends -- the other three being Rose Lalonde, Dave Strider, and Jade Harley -- who are fated to play Sburb, a widely-hyped multiplayer video game with real-life effects. Sburb allows players to manipulate and modify each other's environments in real time, in a way reminiscent of ''VideoGame/TheSims''. But as it turns out, the consequences of playing Sburb [[TheGamePlaysYou are significantly further-reaching than they initially appear to be]], and what begins as a series of amusing domestic struggles and game-mechanics goofs quickly [[SerialEscalation spirals into a succession of events]] far beyond the expectations of its participants.

''Homestuck'' began on April 13, 2009, only one month after the end of the highly successful ''Webcomic/ProblemSleuth''. It rapidly rose in popularity for many reasons, but primarily for its [[JigsawPuzzlePlot intricate]] [[KudzuPlot multi-timeline]] [[TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt apocalypse-centric]] plot, [[OneManArmy an insanely fast update schedule]], [[note]]It updates with 5.5 pages a day on average; that means a veritable torrent of updates, unless Andrew's [[AnimationBump making a Flash animation]][[/note]] a [[ArtEvolution visual upgrade]] from the style of ''Problem Sleuth'', [[AnimationBump Flash animations and games]] accompanied by [[Music/{{Homestuck}} a massive soundtrack]], and its [[TropeOverdosed incredibly high trope density.]]

The [[http://mspaintadventures.wikia.com/wiki/MS_Paint_Adventures_Wiki MS Paint Adventures Wiki]] [[TheWikiRule is maintained by fans]], and tends to be an invaluable source of assistance when reading ''Homestuck'' for the first time, though the content there should be taken with a grain of salt, as its userbase has a tendency to occasionally post speculation as fact. Hussie used to use Formspring as a means of communicating with readers; he eventually ditched it[[note]]for those interested, the content has been archived [[http://www.mspaforums.com/showthread.php?42662-Formspring-Archives here]][[/note]] in favour of [[http://mspandrew.tumblr.com his Tumblr account]], though that too has been seemingly abandoned.[[note]]An archive of some of the deleted posts, including Q&As, can be found [[http://mspaintadventureswiki.tumblr.com/tagged/archive here]].[[/note]]

''Homestuck'' also has a completed [[http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/14293468/homestuck-adventure-game Kickstarter]] for a full fledged AdventureGame, set [[GaidenGame within the universe but not following the main canon]]. The Kickstarter has raised roughly $2.48 Million (out of [[UpToEleven $700,000 minimum]]), an impressive feat that originally placed it in the [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kickstarter#Top_projects_by_funds_raised Top Ten Kickstarter Projects]] by total funds raised, according to TheOtherWiki; other projects have since pushed it off the list. The final figure has yet to be disclosed.
%% When it reaches funding, we'll do two things. A) Make a seperate subpage for it if enough tropes are around for the game and if that happens B) Move Homestuck to the mainspace as it now officially transcends genre. Until then, don't do anything major. As it stands, so little information exists about the game that there's no reason to do so yet.

On October 17th 2013, ''Homestuck'' was placed on indefinite hiatus. Hussie is using this time to create the rest of the story in its entirety so that he can make changes and rewrites if something isn't working, so there will be no more serial-format updates. The rest of the story will be released as one massive update when it's finished.

On April 13th 2014, five years since ''Homestuck''[='=]s inception, Hussie launched an online webcomic anthology, ''Webcomic/ParadoxSpace'', which will be hosting new comics about the world of Homestuck, as drawn by other artists. You can check it out [[http://paradoxspace.com/ right here.]]
