''[[http://devilmaydance.co.uk/index.php?date=2006-03-26 Devil May Dance]]'' is a {{Crossover}} fan doujinshi between ''VideoGame/DevilMayCry'' and ''VideoGame/SpaceChannel5''. Starring the protagonists of both games, [[HalfHumanHybrid Dante]] and [[DanceBattler Ulala]], Devil May Dance features a plot that sees DMC's [[PhysicalGod Mundus]] strike a deal with [[CorruptCorporateExecutive Chief Blank]], Space Channel 5's villain, to ensure their plans are not foiled by the [[YouMeddlingKids other protagonists.]] Falling victim to [[MacGuffin 'soul swappers']], Ulala and Dante's souls are swapped into each other's bodies, and therefore, each other's adventure.

Devil May Dance has been on-going since 2006 and is very well written. Full of laughs, a great representation of both games's universes and nicely drawn, it can't come highly recommended enough. Currently up to chapter 10 and is set to be finished on December 26th 2012.

!!''Devil May Dance'' provides examples of:

* AlternateUniverse: Mundus witnessed Ulala and Dante's triumphs in these. In the "real universe", ''Space Channel 5'' is called ''Space Channel 6'', and ''Devil May Cry'' is called ''[[TitleDrop Devil May Dance]]''. [[spoiler: These universes are actually simulations Bathnarzle created, in order to not only test Mundus's plan, but also find someone who could perfectly match Dante despite being in an entirely different genre. This ended up being Ulala.]]
* BackForTheFinale: Seeing as the events of Space Channel 5 were starting to wrap up, it would only make sense for Blank to return. [[spoiler: However, Dante soon catches on that Blank is NotHimself...]]
* CallingYourAttacks: Dante has to do this, else he will lose. For Ulala, it's more a force of habit due to her world.
* TheCameo: Purge's Robos from Space Channel 5 Part 2 appear in Chapter 10.
* TheChessmaster: [[spoiler: Bathnarzle]] orchestrates a lot, if not nearly ''all'' of the events throughout the story.
* CryForTheDevil: [[spoiler: Blank.]] Considering that in every time loop he's destined to fail and that even the author feels bad for what happens to him, you can just tell that he's had it pretty rough thanks to Mundus.
** ThrowTheDogABone: He gets the Soul Swapper later on. [[YankTheDogsChain Too bad he doesn't know how the Soul Swapper actually works...]]
* '''DancingTheme'''
* DanceBattler: Too many to count.
* DealWithTheDevil: Although Blank makes a deal, it's not his soul that's up for grabs, but rather [[spoiler: the entire galaxy.]]
* DramaticIrony
* [[EvenEvilHasStandards Even Evil Doesn't Want to Cause Time Paradoxes.]] Mundus takes some VERY calculated steps to prevent time paradoxes.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: [[http://devilmaydance.co.uk/index.php?date=2006-04-11 The first chapter's cover]] makes a lot more sense at the end of [[WhamEpisode Chapter 9.]]
** The code that [[spoiler:the person in Pudding's body uses to escape]] from Dante and Jaguar is the same code [[spoiler:Blank gives you to help win in ''Space Channel 5 Part 2''. This foreshadows [[spoiler:Blank being the one inside Pudding's body.]]
** Dante gets a feeling he and Jaguar have met before when they first encounter one another. [[spoiler: Because they're the same ''person''. Jaguar is Dante from 1999 in disguise who came to prepare for the final battle against Mundus after replacing violence with dancing.]]
%%* GrandTheftMe: [[spoiler: Blank]] attempts this on [[spoiler: Mundus]]. It fails ''spectacularly''.
* ItemFarming: Hilariously [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] by Trish when Ulala discovers the red orbs she's been gathering can be used to learn new attacks.
-->Trish: "Such skill! Such...persistance. Such...blatant orb farming."
* OhCrap: Ulala gets this when Phantom takes out her whole entourage and Nevan.
** Also when she first tries to take on the Marionettes by dancing and quickly realises that's not how things are done in 1999.
* PrecisionFStrike: Ulala pulls one of these. Justified in that she [[spoiler:gets stabbed with a ''sword'' through her torso.]]
* SequelHook: TheStinger reveals [[spoiler:that Blank (in Pudding's body with an Evila suit) Trish (in Blank's body) have met up with Vergil, who after Bathnarzle's purging process is looking suspiciously like Purge from Part 2 of ''VideoGame/SpaceChannel5''.]] Despite this, the writer admits he has no plans to do a sequel as of this time.
* ShoutOut: ''Where to start?''
** [[VideoGame/DeadOrAlive Helena]] and [[VideoGame/GuiltyGear Johnny]] appear in Chapter 0 as judges for Ulala and Dante's dance.
** Numerous variations of DDR arcade machines cameo during Chapter 0 and Dante's training montage.
** Dante gets forced into a costume changing montage. All but one of them are from various video games, including [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Princess Peach]], [[Franchise/StreetFighter Chun Li]] and [[VideoGame/SoulCalibur Ivy]]. The one not from a video game is [[Franchise/StarWars Princess Leia.]]
** [[VideoGame/ParappatheRapper Parappa]] appears during Dante's training montage. He even asks Dante "What'choo gotta do?" Dante responds with [[CatchPhrase "I gotta believe!"]]
** Dante does eventually get a male outfit during the end of the training montage. It's an [[VideoGame/EliteBeatAgents Elite Beat Agent suit!]]
** One of the fights has Ulala and her entourage of DMC baddies fight against the Blades and Griffon in the style of [[VideoGame/TheWorldEndsWithYou The World Ends With You]]'s battle system. They even unleash a Fusion Attack!
** [[VideoGame/PokemonRedAndBlue "Ulala used Stinger! It's super effective!"]]
** One of the gag comics raises the question of whether VideoGame/{{Bayonetta}} or Ulala in devil form would win in a fight, complete with an image of them battling. Even Barthnarzle admits it's a tough call.
* ThePollyanna: Ulala has shades of this. Her reaction when she figures out she has been body swapped is ''surprisingly'' cheerful.
** Though when she meets Dante through the portal she is '''sure''' to remind him that her [[SeriousBusiness career is at stake.]]
* WhamEpisode: [[http://devilmaydance.co.uk/index.php?date=2012-05-02 The latest page as of this edit.]] As any Space Channel 5 fan will tell you, that's not what Blank's dimension looks like, implying that Mundas is the ManBehindTheMan...or [[DemonicPossession something even worse.]]
