''Boomer Express'' is a humorous UsefulNotes/{{Furry|Fandom}} comic that focuses on the adventures of two young adult kangaroos and their encounters with various characters, both magical and mundane.

Jared and Vikki are two delivery personnel for the titular logistics company Boomer Express, working stiffs trying to make ends meet. Unfortunately for them, fate has other ideas in store and what follows is encounters with mad scientists, sorcerers, demons, [[{{Kaiju}} giant kaiju death monsters]] and [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking annoying LARPers.]] Thank goodness Jared can transform into a dragon and Vikki is a magic user, otherwise those might be serious problems.

The comic is frequently loaded with [[MacroZone macro]] and [[TransformationComic transformation]] themes. [[http://www.boomerexpress.com/ Check it out here.]]

----
!!''Boomer Express'' provides examples of:

* AllGirlsWantBadBoys: Gender inverted. When Tiamat (the first Precursor in the comic) starts smashing through Pah'Slute, one of King Montifort's knights develops a crush on the female Kaiju and asks another knight if the creature is single. After Jared defeats Tiamat in the fights climax, the knight is seen walking away, visibly bummed out that his crush got obliterated.
* AnimalStereotypes:
** Michael Iakan (an anthro skunk in the second book) is portrayed as smelly, albeit friendly to his roommate.
** Mr. Dogfire, an anthro dog customer seen in the beginning of the webcomic, barks at the delivery kangaroos (Jared and Vikki) when they show up at his house and chases their van as they drive away.
* ArtisticLicenseBiology: Jared is shown eating corned beef various times throughout the comic or craving it, despite the fact that kangaroos are herbivores. Jared's parents [[spoiler: or to be more accurate, just Jared's mother]] also mention having a filet mignon dinner ready for them at home during one point in the comic.
* ArtisticLicenseLaw: Basically how the law works in "The Terrorists" arc. After Gary and Mrs. Knight [[spoiler: get mistaken for terrorists on the roof of a local hospital, a device that emits a video screen is brought out by the SWAT team, with a Judge speaking from the other end. Before Gary can even say a word in defense, the judge just identifies him and Mrs. Knight as the culprits who were caught in the act red handed and sentences them to die by lethal injection before cutting the transmission, forcing the two kangaroos to try and get out through other means while darts full of potassium chloride are fired at them.]]
* ArtShift: The webcomic started off with a basic black and white sketch design. The newest issues are in full color with more detail to the background and characters.
* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever: Jared can become giant-sized when he taps into his dragon powers, which is helpful since most of the monsters he fights are of the {{Kaiju}} variety, too.
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: Jared is prone to being easily distracted, especially if food is involved.
* AuthorAppeal: Dragons, kangaroos and macro characters galore!
* BadassBoast: Jared will usually issue one when a villain has pushed him too far.
* BadassLongcoat: [[spoiler: Gary Dill, Jared and Vikki's boss,]] wears one in book two.
* BaitAndSwitch: Early in the comic, Jared and Vikki stop by at a drive-thru for some fast food. At first, it looks as though the duo are ordering at UsefulNotes/McDonalds (due to the M arch and the millions served sign). However, it's revealed to the audience and Vikki that the place is really [=McDonegal=]'s, a place that sells the best Irish fast food in town (according to Jared).
* BarefootCartoonAnimal: Most of the main characters go shoeless.
* BerserkButton: Jared has two: Don't go making fun of McDonegals (his favorite Irish fast food restaurant), and don't eat anything from his secret corned beef stash in his apartment.
* BigDamnHeroes: Literally in Jared's case, as he turns into a several hundred feet tall dragon when he needs to protect people.
* BigEater: Jared, especially when it comes to corned beef.
* BoundAndGagged: Only the former half of the trope is played out on the group of hero's during the "Preparing the Ceremony Arc". After he keeps shouting and throwing a tantrum however, Prince John has the full trope play out on him, courtesy of an annoyed Kyominara.
* BreakTheHaughty: Happens to [[spoiler: the two destructive, petty and sadistic Precursors (Tiamat and Typhonis) right before they are permanently defeated by Jared (with some help from Isa and Isaac on the sidelines) and Vikki respectively.]]
* BullyingADragon: [[spoiler: Up until the moment where he loses the ability to turn into a dragon in book two]], Prince John literally does this to Jared repeatedly, with the kangaroo occasionally retaliating.
* BunglingInventor: Vikkis father, Stephen Havencroft, is one (with any idea he works on literally blowing up in his face).
* ButtMonkey: Out of all the kangaroos (and other species) in the comic, Jared is the most likely to have a joke play out at his expense, both in the comics canon and in the fan art section.
* CasanovaWannabe: Jared's character bio mentions that he tries to act like a hotshot to impress the ladies, but it often doesn't work out as intended. Adam Barrett, the kangaroo's LARPer friend, also has traces of this, as seen during some of his scenes with Vikki.
* CassandraTruth: When Vikki gets to the hospital with Jared severely injured and bound in spider webbing, a medic asks what happened. Vikki then starts to give an abridged version of [[spoiler: the events at Dr. Von Harris's mansion, involving a mad scientist experiment gone wrong and a giant spider]], [[LampshadeHanging before realizing that the story, while accurate, would be too outrageous for anyone else to believe]] (with the medics outside starting to think they're being set up for a joke).
* ChildhoodFriends: According to their character bios, Jared and Vikki have known each other since second grade, and thus they relate with each other pretty well in the current day.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Despite the fact that he's the comics main ButtMonkey, Jared ends up proving he can kick ass and save the day in epic fashion when it really matters, as shown in his battle with the Precursor Tiamat during book one.
* DamselInDistress: This trope is directly [[http://www.boomerexpress.com/2010/05/05/611-the-damsel/ stated word for word by Gary towards Mrs. Knight (Jared's mom)]] after getting in the middle of a MistakenForTerrorist situation.
* DiseaseBleach: After she defeats Typhonis in book two and separates from the dragon, [[spoiler: Vikki returns to her bodies natural form with her dark hair a much lighter color (though unlike most examples of the trope, it looks more blonde than white). The same thing happens to Ryan Bellcamp, an anthro river otter whos brown head fur also turns blonde once the dragon orb essence leaves his body.]]
* DudeNotFunny: Vikki's reaction to Jared's joke of [[spoiler: pretending to run into something dangerous when he enters Dr. Von Harris's ominous, abandoned looking mansion alone.]]
* EpicFail:
** Early in the webcomic, Jared crashes his motorcycle while trying to get a girl off screen to notice him, prompting Vikki to joke that he wiped out in front of every girl in town (To add insult to injury, the off screen girl tells Jared he sucks, though Jared is happy she noticed him).
** Vikki ends up getting one herself later on, when Adam Barrett beats her in a mock sword duel 3-0, even after the kangaroo uses some magic in an attempt to give herself an advantage.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Prince John and his cruel nature are immediately brought up in his introduction scene. When Vikki, Isa and Jared (who has the dragon spirit inside him) arrive in his throne room, the Prince impatiently asks for his dragon. Then, after it's explained to him that he can no longer host the creature and is told why someone else has it, Prince John orders Jared to death without a second thought. Isa and Vikki's shocked and weak objection easily infuriates him, leading the bratty royal to accuse the duo of [[InsaneTrollLogic "treason" and being a part of a conspiracy with Jared that involved stealing his dragon, earning them death sentences as well.]] When a DeusExMachina saves the kangaroo trio, Prince John responds by getting all whinny and mopey.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: After being defeated by Vikki in book two, the Precursor known as Typhonis asks in a confused tone why she chose to stay and risk her life fighting back instead of taking an easy option to flee elsewhere (as Arroyo conjured up a doorway to another world). Vikki's response (along with a previous comment that she didn't want to leave millions to die at the hands of the Kaiju creature)[[spoiler: is that a friend of hers did the same heroic act for her and another world earlier.]]
%%* EvilOverlord: The Mastermind.
* FateWorseThanDeath: It's implied that being a soulgem for a precursor monster is one, [[NervousWreck with Vikki and Early's reactions after being freed making it all the more obvious.]]
--> '''Vikki (after being freed from the precursor that possessed her)''': "Oh, Isa! It was horrible! I cast the right spell, but it somehow backfired and everything started to get really dark and I couldn't move...and it was so...terrifying...I...uh..." [[note]] After Vikki says this, Jared (in his dragon form) accidentally darkens the room from outside, prompting Vikki to have a panic attack while saying "Happy thoughts" quickly and repeatedly. [[/note]]
* FauxAffablyEvil: Kaminovo and Kyominara, despite being demons, have a sense of humor about their work. However, there are many points in the comic where the duo pose as a legit threat to the main hero's, nearly succeeding in killing them or leaving them at their mercy more than once throughout the story.
* ForcedToWatch: After Kaminovo and Kyominara prep a sacrifice ceremony to bring a Precursor monster back to life in "Preparing the Ceremony", they levitate a bound Jared towards the alter to carry out the kill. Vikki and all of Jared's allies in the room, also bound, can only watch helplessly from where they are at that moment.
* FromBadToWorse: At one point during the "Royal Pains" arc in Book 1, Vikki and Isa walk in on Prince John, who is trying to kill Jared so he can finally get the dragon for himself. Isa blasts the prince with a spell and knocks him out cold...moments before the guards come in and see the aftermath of what happen. The three kangaroos then find themselves in the dungeons for attacking a member of the royal family (thanks to a poor offscreen explanation by Jared) followed by them escaping and being pursued in a nearby forest.
* GettingTheBoot: Implied this is how Prince John ended up in Jared and Vikki's world during book two after [[BlatantLies telling an over the top story as to how he ended up in Jared's apartment.]]
--> '''Jared:''' ...Hold up. By "eliminate a hundred knights" you mean "got pushed into the portal because I'm a whiny brat and everyone hates me", right?
--> '''Prince John:''' I don't like how you commoners define things.
* GiantSpider: Winfred. A very polite, well-refined giant spider at that.
* GilliganCut: After Isa knocks out Prince John to save Jared at one point in the story, the nearby guards come in and see the state of the royal, prompting Jared to say he can explain everything. The next panel shows him, Isa and Vikki locked in a dungeon, implying that Jared really messed up telling his groups side of the story.
* GravityIsAHarshMistress: Jared had some trouble learning to fly when first transformed into a dragon.
* GrowingWings: [[http://www.boomerexpress.com/2002/09/05/40-that-must-sting/ Quite the painful episode]].
* HateSink: Prince John, both In-Universe and Out-Universe, thanks largely in part to his whining and aggressive cruelty towards almost everyone, as well as his habit of being an UngratefulBastard who orders many disproportionate retributions at those who did little to no wrong.
* HeroicBsoD:
** Vikki ends up going through three of them in the course of both books:
*** She gets the first one after [[spoiler: being freed from the role of a soulgem to a Precursor, with her barely pulling through and surviving the ordeal.]]
*** The second example happens after [[spoiler: Jared gets injured during a delivery and is placed in a hospital with most of his body in a cast (even though the only things broken were both legs and an arm). Seeing her best friend like that makes Vikki upset that she couldn't save him earlier or do more for him in the present.]]
*** The final example is after [[spoiler: she beats the second Precursor in the series and departs the dragon spirit, waking up naked and curled up in fear on the forest ground with her black hair turning a lighter shade of blonde.]] The fact that [[spoiler: Kyominara]] shows up afterward to taunt her doesn't help.
** Jared goes through his own after [[spoiler: he defeats the first Precursor creature and sees Vikki laying on the ground, freed from being a soulgem but unconscious and dangerously cold. It isn't until he's informed that Vikki is alive and okay that he starts to calm down.]]
* HopeSpot:
** During the "Further Preparations" arc it looks as though the main antagonists, Kaminovo and Kyominara, are about to sacrifice Jared to a Precursor and win, with none of the other bound hero's being able to do anything to stop the ritual. Out of nowhere, [[spoiler: Tim, a Gholem who was an ally to the two main characters and taught Vikki how to do magic, shows up and pulls a BigDamnHeros move. He manages to save Jared from being impaled and unbinds Vikki and Isa.]] Vikki then manages to free Jared from the alter amid the chaos and tries to use a spell that Tim taught her to put a permanent stop to the threat. [[spoiler: However, it's soon revealed that Tim was working with the two demons and had intentionally mislead Vikki into casting a resurrection spell, [[FromBadToWorse unleashing a menacing monster into the world with Vikki herself serving as the unwilling lifeform fueling it.]]]]
** A humorously cruel example in book two: [[spoiler: Jared, who ends up injured in a hospital, winds up getting [[ArchEnemy Prince John]] as a roommate through a series of events, with the hostility between them quickly escalating to the point where a fence has to be put in between them. After the doctor informs Jared later on that Prince John is discharged and won't need to share a room with him anymore, the kangaroo is ecstatic. However, the doctor then reveals that the annoying royal will be staying at Jared's apartment since the hospital somehow got papers that say he's the kids legal guardian, leaving Jared in a nearly stunned state of speechlessness.]]
* ImStandingRightHere: During one point of the story, Isa and Vicky talk about King Montifort (who they haven't met at this point), with the former insulting him by labeling him a brat and coward like his son. [[OhCrap Cue the King himself emerging from the library the duo were passing by]], where he harshly yet wittily gives Isa a piece of his mind. [[spoiler: The trope is later averted, as it's revealed that the King that spoke to Isa wasn't the real King Montifort but actually Kaminovo posing as him. The real King Montifort was locked in a dungeon at the time.]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Early Ashton, a giant 30 foot tall rabbit [[spoiler:(with her height courtesy of one of Dr. Von Harris's experiments gone wrong three decades ago)]] introduced in book two. During her introduction scene, she gives Vikki some not too subtle death threats and enjoys watching her squirm at the mention of other people she made disappear in sadistic glee, but after [[spoiler: she is freed from being a soulgem and returned to normal size, it's revealed that she used her giant height to help several others who were in need of aid (like some kids escaping their homicidal father in 1978 being one example) before dropping them off a state or two away.]]
%%* KangaroosRepresentAustralia
* KarmicDeath: After [[spoiler: betraying everyone to the demons and helping them resurrect and empower the Precursor Tiamat in book one, Tim ends up getting betrayed himself by Kaminovo and Kyominara and is left behind to die in an immobile and magic-less state (being told by the former that he outlived his usefulness to them). Seconds later, Tim then gets flattened by Tiamat (whos soulgem was being powered by Vikki, who he personally tricked into reviving the monster).]]
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: Tim, the backstabbing Gholem, and the Precursor creature known as Tiamat in book one. Another Precursor, Typhonis, is destroyed near the end of book two.]]
* {{LARP}}: Adam Barrett is into roleplaying and once bested Vikki at a Renaissance Faire fencing tournament.
* LaserGuidedKarma: In his introduction scene, Prince John [[http://www.boomerexpress.com/2003/03/21/121-angus-to-the-rescue/ orders Jared to be strung up and left for the ravens to pick clean]] alongside Isa and Vikki for [[BlatantLies "stealing" the dragon spirit that was meant to be his.]] Later on in book two, after coming to his world and pushing Jared too far one too many times with his aggressive behavior, Jared leaves the rotten royal stuck atop a flagpole. [[http://www.boomerexpress.com/2004/10/22/368-are-you-done-with-those/ A raven then flutters down and asks the prince if he can have his eyes once he's dead, giving Prince John an epic freakout.]]
* LeeroyJenkins: At one point in the comic, Kyominara enters a dungeon to collect all the captured hero's for the [[spoiler: revival ceremony of the Precursor Tiamat. As she opens his cell door and taunts to him on how Vikki will be sacrificed, Jared snaps and charges to the demon (against his dragon essences warning), only to get blasted back by a spell.]]
* LikeAnOldMarriedCouple: Whenever Jared and Vikki get into a verbal argument, everyone else observing them seems to see them as this.
* LionsAndTigersAndHumansOhMy: The majority of the cast is made up of anthro animals, with humans (who don't even exist in the main characters world) making up the "Oh my!" part of the trope,[[spoiler: as Vikki and Jared's reactions indicate when they first get a glimpse of the species in pages 693 and 792 respectively.]]
* LotusEaterMachine: Early at one point in the story, Jared's dragon essence takes over the kangaroos body and speaks for him, prompting Vikki to ask where the real Jared is. It's revealed via. a thought bubble that Jared is happily enjoying a corned beef sandwich elsewhere (which he considers a definition of heaven).
* MadScientist: Dr. Von Harris is one, but he's more of the absent-minded fun variety then the take over the world type.
* MakeItLookLikeAnAccident:
** While in the hospital, Jared tries to get Vikki to help him go through with a plan that involves throwing Prince John (who has ended up becoming his roommate and has been giving him a lot of his usual grief) out a twelfth story window. Vikki and another doctor dismiss it with a bit of humor.
** Earlier in the webcomic, Jared brings up an incident where a poodle named Samantha Jenkins was injured and left with amnesia near Dr. Von Harris's mansion, with a rumor of foul play behind it. While Vikki dismisses it as a stunt gone wrong, Jared lampshades the trope and believes that the explanation is what Dr. Von Harris wants everyone to believe.
* MikeNelsonDestroyerOfWorlds: Jared was not meant to be host for the dragon orb and a lot of drama (and humor) comes from people being terrified of what he can do.
* MistakenForTerrorist: Gary and Mrs. Knight end up being accidentally labeled as terrorists who carried out an attack on a local hospital [[spoiler:(when in reality it was Kaminovo)]] in the middle of book two. The Feds who respond are determined to gun them down, forcing Gary to improvise on an escape plan.
* OhCrap: Many characters give off this expression throughout the story. Several notable examples include [[spoiler: the Precursor Tiamat right before she is defeated by Jared and his group in book one and Vikki every time she runs into Winfred (a giant spider who keeps triggering her arachnophobia).]]
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: Dragons are orbs that merge with a mortal and grant them the ability to transform into a dragon.
* PrinceCharmless: Prince John is the polar opposite of his father, a spoiled, self-centered brat with no respect or regard for the needs of commoners.
* ProductPlacement: Jared delivers a box full of Twinkies to Dr. Von Harris in book two. [[spoiler: It turns out that the doctor needed the one's with green colored creme to power a growth ray he developed.]]
* PutOnABus: Basically anyone who is a Gholem or a resident of Pah'Slute (except for Prince John) in book two. A few mentions and flashback cameos of the absent characters are brought up every once in a while though.
* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome:
** After arriving back home in her own world (where it's revealed that less than an hour passed since Jared and Vikki left to make their fateful delivery), Vikki uses some of the magic she learned to save her mom from having a heavy toolbox slam on her head. Rather than being grateful, Mrs. Havencroft (who, along with almost everyone else in this world, has never witnessed such a display of power) ends up freaking out that her daughter apparently knows witchcraft.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Jared's dragon essence gives one to Vikki, providing a long list of times she's been tricked as reason why she's not worthy of bonding with a dragon.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: More like "white, pupil-less eyes with ominous black fog smoking around them take warning" in regards to Kaminovo and Kyominara. It's especially prominent in the colored-in panels (whether the duo are in their standard appearance or mimicking someones look), though the aspect of the trope still perfectly fits.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: King Montifort is a decent ruler who works to make sure his realm is peaceful and just.
* {{Sadist}}:
** Kaminovo and Kyominara (more often displayed by the latter) whenever they carry out an evil plan towards someone.
** Prince John has his moments in the comic, usually towards [[BullyingADragon Jared.]]
** Early Ashton, an anthro 30-foot tall giant rabbit introduced in book two, seems eager to give Vikki some not too subtle death threats when the duo first meet in the woods and darkly implies with glee that she remained undiscovered due to carrying out said threats on others who ran into her. [[spoiler: It's later revealed that some of the people who "disappeared" in her section of the forest were escaping unpleasant situations (like a pair of siblings trying to run away from their pursuing homicidal father), and that [[PetTheDog Early helped them survive by intervening and secretly dropping them off several states away, with her "victims" then staying under the radar from that moment on.]]]]
* SchizoTech: The parts that take place on Earth look like modern day, except for the hover vehicles and other items like a police robot that's beyond our current technology levels.
* SkewedPriorities: Many jokes in the story involve characters focusing on something unimportant during a major or intense event, with the amount of comedy and/or drama varying in each example.
** When Jared and Vikki escape Kaminovo through a portal and end up in another alien world, Jared doesn't seem to fully grasp how serious the situation is until Vikki tells him his favorite fast food joint isn't anywhere to be found.
** After Jared ends up in the hospital with several severe injuries [[spoiler: thanks to Dr. Von Harris's growing ray experiment gone completely wrong]] his parents show up for the first time onscreen. Rather than show concern for their sons state of well being, the duo not so subtly berate Jared for not following through their high expectations they'd set in life for him. [[spoiler: It's later downplayed since Kaminovo (one of the main antagonists) was really posing as Jared's father in an attempt to kidnap the kangaroo, with Jared's mother forced to go along with it, else something terrible will befall the real Mr. Knight (though based on Jared's reaction, it's not that much of a stretch that his parents would've acted the same if they visited without any demons being involved).]]
* SpoiledBrat: Saying that Prince John is one is a gigantic understatement.
* StuffBlowingUp: Vikki causes quite a lot of explosions (and by extent, damages) during her time spent learning magic in the Gholems world. Isa lampshades this after Vikki wraps up her training.
--> '''Isa (referring to some "records" Vikki broke during her training time)''': "Biggest explosion, Most blasts in one period, Best chain reaction blasts, Most property damage..."
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Corned beef for Jared. It's such a favorite of his, that eating some puts his mind in a state of LotusEaterMachine quality.
* UngratefulBastard: Prince John has a fair share of these moments towards Jared, [[SpoiledBrat simply because he's fully convinced the kangaroo stole the dragon that was meant for him (disregarding the outside circumstances of the "theft" already explained to him).]] The most notable example could be seen in book two, where Jared lets the exiled Prince stay in his apartment despite their past animosity and the fact that Prince John totally wrecked the place earlier. Rather than appreciate Jared's kindness, Prince John starts to threaten Jared when given some tight but fair rules on how to behave.
* UnresolvedSexualTension: Jared and Vikki show signs of this towards one another at various points in the comic. Both their mini bios on the sites character sheet also mention that while they just see each other as friends, they secretly feel something more deep down.
* UnusuallyUninterestingSight: Played with. After Jared [[spoiler: is severely injured thanks to Dr. Von Harris's growth ray experiment gone array and wrapped in spider webbing by Winfred (in an attempt to make his condition more stable)]], two reporters drive by Vikki, who is speeding towards the nearest hospital with Jared in the passenger seat. One of the reporters notices the [[spoiler: kangaroo wrapped like a mummy and mentions it, but the other doesn't care, as she's rushing to the sight of the blown up Von Harris mansion to get the news scoop first.]]
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Often averted with all the major and secondary characters [[PutOnABus (even the ones that are not around in book two)]], as the character sheet has a status update for everyone involved in the plot, regarding how much they've contributed onscreen thus far.
* WhyCouldntYouBeDifferent: Based on Jared's reaction to his parents visiting him in the hospital and berating him for not following their high class, snobby lifestyle, it's pretty obvious he experienced a lot of this trope in his life from them. [[spoiler: Even though Jared's father was actually Kaminovo in disguise, it's also safe to assume the real Mr. Knight would've reacted the same.]]
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Vikki has a fear of spiders and shows signs of nervousness at the mere mention of them. [[RunningGag The fact that she keeps encountering Winfred (a jumping spider that Dr. Von Harris unintentionally grew and made intelligent) every time she goes near Dr. Von Harris and/or his home probably doesn't help.]]
* WithFriendsLikeThese: In the very first issue of the comic, Gary questions why Jared still considers Adam Barrett (a local raccoon LARPer who knew him and Vikki since High School) a friend, given how rude he is to him on the job whenever he delivers a package (with Jared also noting in annoyance that Adam is quite forgetful).
* WorstNewsJudgementEver:
** Subverted. After the conclusion to the terrorist crisis at the Ferrington Hospital, the local news crew covering the event learns they didn't air the story on their station as intended. Instead, they aired a Tori Spelling expy video on their network, thanks to a new interns incompetence.
** The trope is later averted, since the same news crew finally end up reporting the hospital story in book twos epilogue.
* WrongGenreSavvy: When Jared, Vikki and Isa encounter some guards in King Montiforts castle, Jared assumes they are like the ones seen in England (as in, never moving no matter what). [[http://www.boomerexpress.com/2003/03/18/118-definitely-not-england/ Turns out they are not.]]
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: Tim, the backstabbing Gholem who tricked Vikki and worked with Kaminovo and Kyominara to awaken a Precursor is RewardedAsATraitorDeserves by the two demons. As he leaves the area, Kaminovo basically tells Tim this trope word for word.
* YourSoulIsMine: Precursors need a soul to inhabit their soulgem in order to achieve full power. [[spoiler: Vikki ends up getting tricked into becoming a soulgem in book one and Early Ashton, an anthro rabbit, becomes another precursors soulgem in book two.]]
