''Alfdis & Gunnora'' is a grayscale webcomic hosted on Platform/ComicFury. It revolves around the burgeoning romance between two bearded women dwarves. Lady Alfdis is a noble – but Gunnora is a mere soldier. Although stupidly in love, they have never actually met.

The webcomic ran for twelve chapters but went on indefinite hiatus in December 2018 due to the author getting "sick of the story." You can read it [[http://alfdisandgunnora.thecomicseries.com/ here]].

!! Alfdis and Gunnora contains examples of:

* AlmostKiss: Alfdis and Gunnora spend a [[http://alfdisandgunnora.thecomicseries.com/comics/24 whole page]] almost-kissing.
* [[AloofBigBrother Aloof Big Sister]]/[[BigBrotherMentor Big Sister Mentor]]: Alfdis's sister Gamela seems to waver between the two of these.
* AltText: Every page has Alt Text, which is usually either additional dialogue, or the author’s comments on the page or to the characters.
* ApronMatron: Gunnora’s grandma, given the way she apparently slaps her grandkids around when they swear.
* ArrangedMarriage: Although technically Alfdis has the final say, it's clear that her parents expect her to get married to a powerful noble, rather than [[MarryForLove marry someone she loves]].
* BigNo: [[spoiler:Alfdis, when Gunnora tells her that her brother Sigfried is likely dead.]]
* BraidsOfAction: Gunnora, the soldier, wears her hair in two braids.
* BridalCarry: [[spoiler: Gunnora carries Alfdis this way when she gets out of breath climbing the stairs.]] [[spoiler:Gunnora]] likes it so much she gets [[DistractedByTheSexy distracted by the sexy!]]
* ChekhovsSkill: [[spoiler:Gunnora's ability to pierce flesh with her pike comes back in Chapter Four when she skewers the goblins attacking Alfdis.]]
* ConfusedQuestionMark: Alfdis's brother, Sigfried, "speaks" only in this and exclamation marks.
* CourtlyLove: It does have themes of “love from afar” but the plot quickly takes Alfdis and Gunnora away from the standard version.
* CurbStompBattle: When Gunnora fights her opponents in the tournament. Specifically referenced in the AltText on [[http://alfdisandgunnora.thecomicseries.com/comics/63/ this page]].
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Of a very dark nature. [[spoiler:The scene in which Alfdis is attacked by goblins is enough like a rape scene that the author put a warning up before releasing the comic.]]
* [[spoiler:DoomedHometown: Alfdis and Gunnora's home city, Elekhuz, is blown up.]]
* DopeSlap: Delivered by Gunnora's grandmother to Gunnora - more for swearing than for being a dope.
* EpunymousTitle: Chapter Two’s title “Clan-Destiny” is a pun on clandestine.
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: Although we don’t actually see it, according to one of the characters in the story, Gunnora recently changed the way she styled her hair to match some of Alfdis’s braids. This is a significant change in dwarf culture, and represents falling in love.
* FantasticGenderAndSexuality: It mostly tells the love story of bearded lesbian dwarves, but also shows the different attitudes to gender in the fantasy setting (note the military) and the fluidity of it (everyone has beards).
* FantasticRacism: There appears to be a bit of it going on between humans and dwarves.
* GenderIsNoObject: Although difficult to tell with dwarves, it appears that the dwarf army has no gender restrictions.
* GirlsWithMoustaches: All dwarves apparently have facial hair – Alfdis in particular has a long braided moustache.
* GrannyClassic: Gunnora’s grandmother (except for the beard, of course)
* HandSignals: Alfdis's brother, Sigfried, is deaf, and communicates with Alfdis primarily through hand signals.
* HeldGaze: When Alfdis drops the ribbon.
* HeroicBSOD: Alfdis has one [[spoiler: after she is attacked by goblins.]]
* IntergenerationalFriendship: Alfdis and Lord Frey, who seems to be as much a friend as a mentor.
* {{Jerkass}}: The human knight Gunnora battles.
* TheJinx: Gunnora appears to think she is this.
* LadyAndKnight: With Alfdis as the Lady and Gunnora as the (female) Knight.
* TheLadysFavour:
** Alfdis drops a ribbon from her window – Gunnora wraps it around the handle of her pike.
** [[spoiler: Taken further in Chapter Three, where the two exchange hair beads. Important enough that the comics depicting it [[http://alfdisandgunnora.thecomicseries.com/comics/46 had]] [[http://alfdisandgunnora.thecomicseries.com/comics/47 color]].]]
* LongingLook: Both Alfdis and Gunnora give these to each other, while assuming the other is oblivious.
* MentorArchetype: Lord Frey.
* MultigenerationalHousehold: Gunnora's family, which includes herself and her (adult) siblings, her father, and her grandmother.
* NeverLearnedToRead:
** Gunnora can’t read, but is trying to teach herself. This becomes a bit of a problem when Alfdis sends her a message.
** [[spoiler: Becomes quite the sting when Alfdis's father decides he can't hire Gunnora because she's illiterate.]]
* NoWomansLand: Implied to be the case with humans.
* OurDwarvesAreAllTheSame: Of the “bearded women” variety.
* OurGoblinsAreDifferent:
** Somewhat lizardlike with large ears, which are often pierced. They also either wear some sort of war paint or have tattoos.
** [[spoiler:Notable in that they are a bigger threat to our protagonists than the orcs.]]
* OurOrcsAreDifferent: Extremely tall with flat-looking faces and large horns.
* PaintingTheMedium: [[spoiler:When Alfdis is attacked by goblins, she drops a lamp, which breaks. The next page is in high contrast, and the panels look like shards of glass.]]
* [[spoiler:ParentalMarriageVeto: Although he doesn't know it, when Alfdis's father tells her she can't marry a commoner, he effectively shoots her down.]]
* QueerRomance: The main plot of the story is a romance between two women.
* SpeechBubbles:
** Different "fonts" of the author's handwriting represent different languages, and sometimes a speech bubble's shape can indicate mood/tone.
** Additionally, {{SpeechBubblesInterruption}}s occasionally occur.
