Vinesauce is a livestreaming group of gamers, with an emphasis on variety, hilarity, and [[CrossesTheLineTwice crossing the line twice]]. While there is no particular schedule for when each streamer streams a game, the group's creator, Vinny, usually streams late at night (typically around 9 PM EST to around 1:30 AM EST) on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, while Joel streams mainly on Fridays and the weekends (though is much less consistent about it than Vinny). Some of their most well-known streams include Vinny's corruption, ''VideoGame/TomodachiLife'', ''VideoGame/SuperMarioBrosX'' level contest, and ''VideoGame/AnimalCrossing'' streams, Joel's ''[[VideoGame/TheSims Sims]]'', bootleg game, Windows destruction, and ''Facade'' streams, and Rev's 24-hour ''WesternAnimation/{{SpongeBob|SquarePants}} Boat-O-Cross'' marathon.

The group is also known for its annual charity marathon, "Vinesauce is HOPE", a three-day event every July where the Vinesauce streamers and associates play games to raise money for the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation. The marathon started in 2014, and as of 2019, it is managed under the nonprofit organization Variety is Hope, run by former Vinesauce member Hootey. The first Vinesauce is HOPE event to be conducted under Variety is Hope's management took place in 2020. 2021 would be the last one however, due to the event taking a long time to set up.

They are not to be confused with ''WebVideo/VSauce'', another collective of [=YouTubers=].

!!These videos contain examples of:
[[foldercontrol]]

[[folder:Tropes A to M]]
* [[invoked]]AbilityOverAppearance: Vinny [[DiscussedTrope discussed this trope]] in "Super Mario Maker 2 (PART 17)", in regards to why Wrestling/CaptainLouAlbano-- who played the titular character of ''Series/TheSuperMarioBrosSuperShow''-- wasn't hired to play the part in the ''[[Film/SuperMarioBros1993 Super Mario Bros.]]'' movie. While Lou might have been the face and voice of the character up until Creator/CharlesMartinet started voicing him in the games in 1995, Vinny argues that he simply didn't have the acting talent to hold up for a feature-length film, as evidenced by his PerformanceAnxiety on camera.
* AccentuateTheNegative:
** It doesn't make up the majority of their content, but Vinesauce is particularly well known for mining comedy out of what can best be described as "trash"--with the edited videos especially focusing on this type of content. For Vinny, "Sunday stream" has become synonymous with shovelware, bizarre amateur games, and corruptions. Likewise, if a game presents an opportunity to add his own content, he'll always default to something ugly and/or bizarre. Following on from this, Joel has his OS destruction videos and bootlegs, and Rev streams those creepy Flash games starring kids' cartoon characters.
** On a rather brief CNN spot, Vinny [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=551CRcASqJA claims]] that intentionally bad games like ''Trombone Champ'', the game CNN was showcasing, gel well with his sense of humor.
* AccidentalMisnaming:
** The name of Vinny's ''VideoGame/{{Skate}} 3'' character, Bub Skebulba, was originally one for Sebulba from ''Film/ThePhantomMenace''.
** Vinny referred to Prince Richard as "Sigmund" and "Siegfried" during a corruption stream for ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaLinksAwakening'' (Link ended up outside Kanalet Castle due to the physics being messed up and Vinny referred to the castle itself as "Sigmund's Castle" and "Siegfried's Castle" because he forgot the name of the castle and its owner).
** During a corruption of ''VideoGame/DonkeyKong64'', Vinny referred to Tiny Kong as "Dixie" on at least one occasion. Justified, as the former in an {{expy}} of the latter and Vinny was too terrified to remember the right name at that point.
** From Vinny's ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask 3D'' streams:
*** As he had gone about 14 years without playing ''Majora's Mask'', he forgot several details of the game and initially mistook Mutoh (the head carpenter) for the mayor.
*** When in the Great Bay region, he mistook Tijo (the drummer for the Indigo-Go's) for Evan (the keyboardist and bandleader for the same band).
*** When he was going through the Oceanside Spider House, someone in the chat asked Vinny to do an impression of "Gordon Ramses"[[labelnote:Context]]Vinny had worn his voice out at PAX East earlier that day and thus generally had trouble doing impressions, which led viewers to request impressions to see which ones he could still do[[/labelnote]] and he mentioned it, saying that this particular misspelling amused him because Ramses was a pharaoh in ancient Egypt and that isn't what Creator/GordonRamsay is. Not long afterward, he entered a room that contained sarcophagi.
----> '''Vinny:''' ''[using a Gordon Ramsay impression]'' "Beautiful, Egyptian.... This fucking meal is so raw, it's biting the sphinx! This meal is so raw... a scarab could eat it!" ''[in his normal voice]'' "I dunno, I gotta think of some Egyptian Gordon Ramsay puns."
----> '''Vinny:''' "Hey, are those sarcophagi? Timely, considering our chat."
*** When facing Gekko again in the Great Bay Temple, he forgot his name and listed "Gerk", "Greg", and "Gherkin" as possible names for him alongside his actual name. Not long after a viewer corrected him, he parodied this by referring to him as "Greg" again after getting frustrated by the fight.
** Parodied when Vinny repeatedly refers to Creator/MikeMatei as "Mike Matinée" while streaming ''VideoGame/SuperMarioBros3Mix''.
** When streaming submitted levels for the 2015 ''Super Mario Bros. X'' contest, Vinny ended up in a boss battle with [[Manga/JojosBizarreAdventure Dio Brando]], calling him "[[Franchise/DragonBall Goku]]". Joel didn't take it too well.
---> '''Joel:''' ''[in chat as "Vargskelethor"]'' "vinny i swear to fucking god if you call dio goku one more time [[BowelBreakingBricks i will shit a house]]"
** While it may not have be entirely accidental, Rev butchers the names of several ''VideoGame/{{Undertale}}'' characters in his "I don't know anything about [X]" video on it. He calls Mettaton "[[Franchise/{{Transformers}} Megatron]]", [[spoiler:Gaster]] "[[WesternAnimation/BeautyAndTheBeast Gaston]]", Napstablook "Napster", and Muffet "Muffin".
** From Vinny's streams of ''VideoGame/KirbyPlanetRobobot'':
*** The subject of E3 came up during one stream and he accidentally confused ''Breath of the Wild''[='=]s title with that of ''Franchise/BreathOfFire''
*** He accidentally referred to WesternAnimation/{{SpongeBob|SquarePants}} as "[=SkungeBob=]" during the sixth stream of ''Planet Robobot''.
** During Vinny's streams of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTheMinishCap'':
*** He mentioned that he once encountered a guy who thought his name was "Mitt" when he was on a skiing trip.
*** During the final stream, he read a chat message discussing Reggie Fils-Aimé showcasing the Platform/NintendoSwitch on ''Series/TheTonightShow with Jimmy Fallon'' and almost referred to ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaBreathOfTheWild'' as "The Legend of Zelda: Best of the Worst" when the subject of ''Breath of the Wild''[='=]s framerate came up.
** Vinny's old band, Davy's Grey, was subject to frequent misnamings, with Vinny giving "Gravy's Day" as one such example.
** At one point in ''Meme House'', Joel accidentally calls [[VideoGame/DonkeyKong64 Funky Kong]] "Funny."
* AchievementsInIgnorance:
** Towards the end of ''VideoGame/ConkersBadFurDay'', Vinny manages to avoid triggering the cutscenes where Conker says goodbye to Rodent before heading into the remains of the hollow tree. One person in the chat commented that he'd discovered a new speed run tactic, but it turned out this was a known exploit.
** While playing ''VideoGame/Sonic3AndKnuckles'' with Imakuni, Vinny managed to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Q9SXJZRNCE clip through the wall and ceiling]] in the first part of Hydrocity Zone Act 2 because he couldn't figure out how to spindash away from the [[AdvancingWallOfDoom crushing wall]].
%%* ActionDuo:
%%** Studyguy and Studygirl.
%%** Rev and Joel, during their ''VideoGame/DayZ'' streams.
%%** Limes and Direboar to their ''VideoGame/ResidentEvil5'' streams.
%%** Vinny and Darren in their ''VideoGame/{{Rust}}'' streams.
%%** Joel and his "clone", Jolyene.
* AddictionPowered: Vinny compared the blue orbs in the [[spoiler:Meta Knightmare Returns]] mode in ''Kirby: Planet Robobot'' to a drug when discussing the speed-boosting power-up they can provide and suggested that [[spoiler:Meta Knight]] was addicted to them.
* AffectionateParody: At least two Vinesauce streamers have made parodies of Did You Know Gaming?'s videos.
** Rev has his "I Don't Know Anything About" series, which consists of him talking about subjects he knows little about.
** Vinny made a "Did You Know Vinesauce?" video on Sponge, chronicling his history and appearances. This was made about two years after Vinny first thought of him during a stream of ''VideoGame/SuperMario3DWorld'' (after Direboar suggested the creation of another Mario Brother), and during those years he went from having few traits other than his appearance to having a more fleshed-out personality and backstory.
* AIIsACrapshoot: GPM's (former) Twitter ebooks bot quickly gained notoriety for its... ''distressing'' messages.
--> '''GPM_ebooks''': You guys are awesome, only two days and we're only 10 away from [[CallAHumanAMeatbag my mortal flesh coil]]
* AlliterativeName: The stream has been referred to as '''V'''inesauce '''V'''idya (which was the basis for the main site's old URL) and '''V'''ideo '''V'''inesauce.
* AlliterativeTitle: '''S'''hovelware '''S'''howcase and the '''S'''hit '''S'''how, both series by Vinny covering bad games (the former deals primarily with console games, while the latter is primarily about computer games). '''P'''lug & '''P'''lague was later added to the repertoire, where Vinny plays games from bad "plug and play" consoles. "'''G'''rabbag '''G'''arbage" and "'''T'''rio of '''T'''rash" both got used for terrible game streams (some shovelware, some Android), while "'''T'''rio of '''T'''reasures" got used for a collection of games that at first appeared to be the usual Android asset flips but were surprisingly competent, original, and fun.
* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: In-universe, Vinny's impressions of the animated Mario and Luigi depicting Luigi as a terminally ill drug addict living off Mario's livelihood.
* AluminumChristmasTrees: Happens in-universe (as far as in-universe goes for livestreams) during one stream of ''VideoGame/{{Blasphemous}}''. Vinny goes off on a tangent about silver as some sort of [[AllNaturalSnakeOil catch-all home remedy]]. Some members of his Twitch chat then tell him about [[AmazingTechnicolorPopulation people turning blue]] due to excessive exposure to silver, otherwise known as argyria. Vinny [[https://youtu.be/yxncC6Ecz4Y?t=875 laughs in disbelief]] at the concept, then he hits up good old Google...
--> '''Vinny:''' Are you-- [[YouHaveGotToBeKiddingMe you're kidding me]]. You-- you're joking. This is not-- this ''can[='=]t'' be real. I don't-- ''([[https://www.reddit.com/r/WTF/comments/2wy3ri/man_turns_blue_after_self_medicating_colloidal/ This image]] shows up on screen)'' Eternal life, but at what cost? You live as a [[Franchise/TheSmurfs Smurf]] for the remainder of your days.
* {{Angrish}}: Vinny playing Mario Kart surely guarantees this, or causes him to go into [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQweGnO7rwQ&t=49m08s enraged-duck]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQweGnO7rwQ&t=50m12s mode]]. He also tends to do this if he dies or fails at something in other games, in a very stupid way.
** Vinny also unleashes some interesting strings of words under duress, such as [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66TaO8R-K38&feature=youtu.be&t=2330 this]] tidbit from one of his randomizer runs.
---> '''Vinny:''' NNUOOGHHUSHHCUH FUCK COCK! GUH-- I, I... fuckin'...
* AnimalMotifs:
** Some streamers and viewers alike represent themselves with an animal icon, including Hootey (an owl), Limes (a baby harp seal, [[MeaningfulName with a lime]]; she's also uploaded several [=YouTube=] videos of her pet ferret), and Direboar ([[ShapedLikeItself a... well... boar]], though his test image for the Booru was a photo of a ferret and not a boar). Former streamer Studyguy was associated with pigs.
** Vinny is often associated with ducks or raptors thanks to his {{Angrish}} noises, though he can't stand geese.
* AnthropomorphicPersonification: Twitch Chat is often personified in video thumbnails as either a gray and purple humanoid with the [[NonHumanHead Twitch logo for a face]] or as a PerpetualSmiler with the face of Twitch's default emotes.
* AntiClimaxBoss: In-universe, Joel's Duane Armageddon ''VideoGame/{{MUGEN}}'' stream has him facing [[VideoGame/EarthBound1994 Giygas]] as the penultimate opponent. It took eight minutes for ''[[LethalJokeCharacter the Duane]]'' to win the EpilepticFlashingLights-filled match. The final enemy? ''[[Franchise/{{Castlevania}} Dracula]]'', who fights the Duane [[CurbstompBattle just as well as any normal character]].
* AprilFoolsDay:
** In 2012, KY [[HostileShowTakeover hijacked the Vinesauce website]] and turned it into "Kings of KY", where he was the only streamer allowed. "King KY" jokes persist to this day (for example, KY's current Twitch avatar wears a crown and he later changed his Twitch username from "livebyfoma" to "kingky"). %%I think this was 2012, but I might need to confirm it.
** In 2015, Joel did an entire stream in Swedish[[note]]which would become a yearly tradition afterward[[/note]], Imakuni had her mother impersonate her briefly, and Vinny did something... [[AlienInvasion odd]] with ''Tomodachi Life''.
** In 2016:
*** Ima pretended to be a little kid, redrawing her starting stream slate in a StylisticSuck fashion and playing [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Pico Sega Pico]] games with facecam on. It culminated in her using an art program to design a ''Sonic'' OC, "Hotled the Fox".
*** GPM and Joel switched roles and channels; "[=JeePM=]" did a bizarre "Miiverse Is Hell" stream, while "Geoell" did a "Hardcore Friday" stream of ''VideoGame/MarioPaint'', following along with [[Series/TheJoyOfPainting Bob Ross]] like Joel has done before (albeit with ''much'' more StylisticSuck). Later in the day, Joel did another Swedish stream on his own channel.
*** Rev uploaded the first part of "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knhuppMVhHw ASMR/Relaxation Tape]]", where he reads a story that he wrote. The story switches from being extremely calming to being SophisticatedAsHell several times.
** In 2017:
*** Rev announced that he was going to shift his content to purely [[TopTenList "Top 5" videos]], and would be uploading at high speeds to keep up with [=WatchMojo=].com. The three videos (which can be found [[https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDJDj9uVjxKGZzvDm8mh5f3SMfGGCwDiu here]] along with an unrelated one) get increasingly bizarre and meta.
*** Vinny did a surprise stream on his Red Vox Twitch account where he messed around for about fifteen minutes. He also [[SubvertedTrope subverted the whole thing]] by having an actual new episode of [[WebVideo/VinesauceTomodachiLife Tomodachi Life]], which ended up being far more straightforward than the stream of the same game he did two years prior. %%To do; add the VOD of the Red Vox stream when/if it is released.
* ArtificialStupidity: The AI in the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtxhSQiduMk Super Mario Kart Corruptions]] gets changed so that they would do really stupid things like drive into walls the entire time.
* AscendedFanon: In-universe, Vinny's question about whether a ''Super Mario Bros. [=3Mix=]'' graphical glitch he encountered in his third stream of the game could be called a "Vinesauce bug" led to Southbird responding with "Sure, why not?" in a caption in his shortened version of the stream. This was followed by Southbird applying the "Vinesauce bug" label to an issue with later levels' gravity mechanics that went undiscovered during testing but showed up during one of Vinny's streams.
* AscendedMeme:
** Vinny lampshaded Joel's [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lidl Lidl]] obsession (and confusion as to whether or not it exist in America) by [[https://youtu.be/1tEn2vHdd9Q?t=115 addressing him]] when he finds a Lidl store located in America while browsing Google Maps. Joel still insists it's not "the real Lidl" as he's familiar with all the weird Lidl-branded merch his local Swedish store sells.
** The [[https://youtu.be/gQMMs9WRr0o highlights video]] for Joel's ''VideoGame/SignalSimulator'' streams has a low-res 3D alien dancing to Nunca Me Faltes edited into the clip of Joel [[spoiler: freaking out upon seeing an alien peering through the bathroom window]], referencing Zeurel's memetic fan animation "[[https://youtu.be/T5mdFk-Xsc0 Joel checks the bathroom]]".
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4T7YyTcHz4 Vinny's response]] to a RunningGag from fans making fun of his [[NinetiesHair resemblance]] to [[Franchise/ResidentEvil Leon Kennedy]] was to film himself doing commentary in an impromptu cosplay [[HypocriticalHumor while denying the similarities]].
* AuthorAppeal:
** Joel is a huge fan of ''Manga/FistOfTheNorthStar'', ''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure'', and HeavyMetal music, and likes anything relating to skeletons. Expect these things to come up a lot in his streams.
** Vinny has admitted that ''WesternAnimation/RickAndMorty'' is an obsession of his, and it's almost guaranteed that he'll reference it at least once during every stream (well, every stream after the show's debut). Like Joel, he's a music buff (albeit for art rock or prog rock artists like Music/DavidBowie and Music/PinkFloyd, respectively, compared to Joel's obsession with metal), and writes and plays for the band Music/RedVox alongside his streaming. Vinny also has a fondness for ''Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda'' series (though he isn't fond of ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSpiritTracks Spirit Tracks]]'') and tends to stream new installments when they're released, in addition to revisiting older games occasionally (such as ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime Ocarina of Time 3D]]'' in 2014 and [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaI the first game]] and ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTheMinishCap The Minish Cap]]'' in 2016). While he has stated that the ''Franchise/{{Metroid}}'' series is his favorite series and ''VideoGame/ChronoTrigger'' is his favorite game, the ''Zelda'' series has seen far more releases since Vinesauce's founding than the ''Metroid'' or ''Chrono'' series.
* AvantGardeMusic:
** Someone in the chat jokingly asked Vinny to cover ''Music/MetalMachineMusic'' by Music/LouReed during a stream of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask 3D''. His attempt involved turning his compressor off to produce loud static, which he explained as the microphone attempting to reroute a nonexistent audio signal.
** ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNdRdnMcsgA HotStart]]''. It's an album Rev (under the name "Bees [=McBees=]") made by slowing dishwasher noises down to 3 BPM.
** During one of Joel's streams of ''VideoGame/TheSims4'', his [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Waluigi]] Sim had his head replaced with a boombox, which plays [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdkLZNyEMVU a "song"]] composed of the Rainbow Ride theme from ''VideoGame/SuperMario64'', the Loud Nigra scream, people screaming out of fear of angry bees, and a guy saying "magic missile" repeatedly.
** During Vinny's playthrough of ''VideoGame/SuperMarioSunshine'' the music for Bianco Hills glitched and the first note played continuously, leading to him joking that the background music was a "one-note remix" of the original.
* BackAlleyDoctor: During Vinny's streams of ''VideoGame/KirbyPlanetRobobot'', he frequently joked about Kirby's credentials when using the newly added Doctor ability, particularly mentions of random prescriptions, surgeries, and STD diagnoses.
* BearsAreBadNews: When ''Miitomo'' asked Fred what kind of animal would make him quickly run in the opposite direction, he said bears.
* TheBeastmaster: A while after Vinny obtained the Bee Badge in ''The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds'', he joked that Link appeared to be commanding an army of bees after multiple bees came out of cut grass and trees that were rammed into and started attacking enemies.
%%* BerserkButton: "SAY [[VideoGame/SpaceKids 'DOODLE DIP']] AGAIN, MOTHERFUCKER, I DARE YOU!" (Zero-Context Example)
* BittersweetEnding: In the finale of Joel's ''VideoGame/DwarfFortress'' Megastream [[spoiler: most of the military squad, which included a few Hammer Lords, excluding a few lucky ones get stuck in a glitch while outside the fortress, preventing them to get back [[ShootTheShaggyDogStory despite all of Joel's desperate attempts to try and get around the glitch.]] However, one of the original members of the military, Fatgunn, named after a chat member, survives the glitch and returns to the fortress, and proceeds to do a CurbStompBattle against a cyclops with ''their bare hands''. Plus the fort didn't fall into ruin after over 10 straight hours of misadventures, that alone can be considered sweet.]]
* BigWhat:
** Vinny regularly shouts a loud, astonished "What?!" in a wide variety of contexts, ranging from amusement to shock to anything outside and in-between. This is particularly pronounced during corruption streams thanks to the unpredictable surrealness of them.
** Even for Joel, Russian bootlegs (in contrast to Chinese ones, which tend to just be silly and weird) seem to be so bizarre that he often goes into repeated variations of "What is this?" but he absolutely loses his mind when he gets a game over in the ''Felix the Cat'' Russian bootleg and is [[https://youtu.be/zchFyYv3oPk?t=29m19s greeted]] by a screen showing Felix tearing his own face off.
* BilingualBonus:
** Vinny's ''Majora's Mask 3D'' overlay says "This honestly looks like a banan" in ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTwilightPrincess Twilight Princess]]'''s form of Hylian text.[[note]]''Twilight Princess'' used a cipher for English as the basis for its Hylian text, in contrast to how previous games' Hylian was based on Japanese.[[/note]] It's referring to the appearance of the in-game clock's moon icon (which is displayed when it's nighttime), which appears next to the last line of that bit of text.
** Joel's company in ''VideoGame/GameDevTycoon'' is called "Kusoge Games". Joel actually explains at the outset that "kusoge" "literally means 'shit game' in Nipponese."
* BitingTheHandHumor:
** Twitch donators in general, particularly for Vinny and Joel. The main reason either of them usually give is that they [[SelfDeprecation don't believe themselves worthy]] of ''any'' money because of [[AccentuateTheNegative their usual content]], but they also believe that donators on Twitch [[AttentionWhore donate for the wrong reasons]] (this is also the reason why neither of them call out subs or donations).
*** [[https://youtu.be/TVfF-kO91R0?t=8135 Joel in particular]] was pretty pissed off when Twitch forcefully enabled Bits for every channel on the service.
*** Vinny was [[https://youtu.be/5ZDPajIN06Y?t=540 similarly annoyed]] when a Twitch integration mod for ''VideoGame/{{Noita}}'' started displaying subscription notifications on screen (accompanied by a pile of fragile, star-labeled purple boxes that block spells for every notification).
---->'''Vinny:''' I mean, thanks, but also... you know... ''[sighs]'' that's not why I do this!\\
'''Twitch chat:''' years of not acknowledging subs has finally come back to bite you in the ass\\
'''Vinny:''' It doesn't come from a place of... non-appreciation. It comes from a place of not, like, wanting to put that stuff on my stream. You know that. Like, I'm playing ''VideoGame/ChronoTrigger'' and a particularly emotional or interesting moment happens, and then like... "[[AtrociousAlias FartsOnHisOwnBalls69420]] has re-subbed for 4 months". It's like... ugh.
** Certain Vinesauce fans. There are two kinds that get mocked often: those who spam the chat in order to get the attention of the streamer (''especially'' if they're doing it to ask when another streamer, usually Vinny or Joel, is streaming), and those who idolize Vinny and/or Joel by taking everything they say seriously and ignoring other streamers (which can lead to the aforementioned chat spamming). Vinny ended up creating a caricature of his idolizers in the form of Tucker, a teenage loser who takes everything Vinny says as advice regardless of the consequences. In a more joking, self-deprecative way, it's a common joke that being a Vinesauce fan automatically means you're a meme-loving loser.
** Twitch itself became a big one for Vinny in 2020 following the site's doubling down on copyright enforcement and simultaneous implementation of shallow accessibility measures to try and save face. The fact that these measures resulted in Vinny having to delete all of his previous [=VODs=] and clips with less than 5,000 views for fear of getting a copyright strike from one of them particularly frustrated him, and since then he'll frequently take shots at the declining quality of Twitch's policies and how they're enforced.
* BlackComedy: Vinny consciously averts this when looking through mobile game ads when one depicts a mother [[EpicFail accidentally]] [[DeathOfAChild putting a baby in her washing machine and killing it.]] He immediately declares it the worst ad there for the joke being the death of a child before immediately moving on, even worse than the blatant fetish-based ads shown before.
* BlackSpeech: Regular text-input in [[https://youtu.be/MQ9V10MrSzw?t=347 Façade Corruptions 2]] somehow turns into a translator for Satanic language.
--> Summon the Ender One = '''GAMAGG THA AAAAR OGA'''
* BodyHorror:
** Happens in most of the Nintendo 64 corruptions, but [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzQiQ1pVlN8 Sesame Street Corruptions]] takes the cake, with Big Bird, Grover, and Ernie morph in almost AlienGeometries to go with their scrambled voices.
** Mario's face tends to become very distorted during corruptions of ''VideoGame/SuperMario64'' and Link's face once had mouths for eyes while the lower part of his face was glitched. The latter became the avatar of Weinerless Steve, who provides several of Vinny's corruptions.
** "Stream 0" of Imakuni's ''The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time'' streams encountered graphical glitches with Princess Zelda's face, with her mouth becoming part of the Deku Shield and her eyes becoming Link's face. Imakuni assured viewers that she wasn't even corrupting the game when this happened. After the conversation with Zelda was over, the game crashed.
* BreadEggsMilkSquick: In "The Coin Game (Mall Update)", when asked about what Vinny would like for {{pirate}}-themed food:
-->'''Vinny:''' Bottle of rum... crabs... [[UnconventionalFoodOrder parrot meat]]...
* BreakingTheFourthWall: The 61st level from Vinny's 2015 ''Super Mario Bros. X'' contest ("Contest Entry" by [=Blop202=]) was ''VideoGame/{{Captain Toad|TreasureTracker}}''-themed and featured one Toad explorer saying he could have stayed home and watched Vinny's ''Super Mario Bros. X'' contest. At the end of a level, a Toad wished Vinesauce a happy fifth anniversary while another Toad had no idea what he was talking about.
* BrickJoke: Invoked accidentally by Vinny during his ''VideoGame/{{EarthBound|1994}}'' stream. In Summers, the game asked him to input his name, and he wrote in “Binyot.” This made its way back to him when he streamed the game again a few days later.
-->'''Vinny:''' (reading a Tenda’s dialogue) Hey, you! I have a happy little question for you. Binyot... Biny- ...[[FlatWhat what?]]
* BrokenRecord:
** One corruption of ''Super Mario Bros. 2'' repeated "WORLDSPREAD BEFORE" on most of the lines in the game's intro text.
** When Vinny played ''VideoGame/WeHappyFew'', a combination of a glitch and the obtaining of a rubber duck caused Arthur Hastings to continually repeat the line [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxUrPCtgWmY "That is a terribly charismatic duck. Hmmmm... that gives me an idea."]]
--->'''Vinny:''' "Stop saying that. You need to stop that, right now. I can't deal with this duck shit, but, my character is like me in real life, obsessed with ducks. All right, maybe the obsess--maybe not an obsession, but, like, there's a fascination, there's an interest, for sure."
** GPM_ebooks is prone to repeating things, such as in a tweet which read:
--->"i got an email from a video to a playlist added a video to a playlist added a video to a playlist added a"
* BrokeTheRatingScale:
** After Vinny plays a particularly bizarre level from his 2015 ''Super Mario Bros. X'' contest, his response is "On a scale from 1-10, I give it an apple." Another bizarre level earns a "negative starfruit" rating.
** At the end of Vinny's ''VideoGame/{{Hylics}}'' ''2'' playthrough, he [[VerbalBackspace catches himself]] almost rating the game a five before changing it to an "H to a Z out of ten" to match the game's bizarre nature.
* BrownNote: Vinny declares some scrambled music in his ''Binding of Isaac'' corruptions a "yellow note" after he needs to go take a piss in the middle of playing. He very kindly left the viewers to listen to said song for a full minute while he left.
* BuffySpeak:
** When Vinny was playing his second randomized ''Super Mario World'' ROM, he used the phrasing "You have to use one of those and then you can steal the thing" to describe the act of throwing a block at Lakitu to gain the use of his cloud.
** Vinny referred to the Cane of Pacci from ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTheMinishCap'' as "the Cane of Flippy-upside-downy" during his third stream of that game.
* ButtMonkey:
** Vinny and his friends have joked about Gamby, an old friend of theirs, since before the streams began and Vinny has mentioned that there are various stories involving him (though Vinny didn't witness all of them firsthand); for example, Vinny has mentioned that Gamby once said he was "a floating brain" after getting stoned and Vinny once misattributed the AccidentalMisnaming of Ganondorf as "Crenando" to him.
** The user Turtls gets blamed for a lot of stuff, and gets [[RunningGag jokingly kicked a lot]], such as when Fred was streaming ''VideoGame/{{Ys}} Origin'' and Turtls was kicked for jokingly calling the game bad.
** Joel [[http://vargskelethor.bandcamp.com/album/the-revnarok made an entire album of metal songs dedicated to how much Rev sucks]].
** Vinny tends to suffer frequent failures whenever he plays multiplayer games. ''VideoGame/MarioKart8'' is a good example of this.
** Joel once played ''VideoGame/TheSims3'' using Sims based on Vinesauce streamers. Fred (or rather, Frooby) in particular ended up being the butt of many jokes due to his Sim's bizarre behavior and the situations he ended up in.
** KY is the butt of jokes in one of Rev's PAX South videos, which portrays him as being obsessed with a pickle and features bystanders making sexual jokes about it.
** Vinny frequently makes fun of Toad from ''Franchise/SuperMarioBros'', particularly because of the voice Nintendo gives him in games released from the Platform/GameBoyAdvance[=/=][[Platform/NintendoGameCube GameCube]] era onward.
** Vinny frequently mocks and belittles Gau during his playthrough of ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVI'', even going so far as to rename him to "[[SpellMyNameWithAnS Capus(s)i]]" after a recent meme.
%%** Rose in Limes' ''VideoGame/TalesOfZestiria'' streams.
* CallASmeerpARabbit: When playing ''Super Mario Bros. [=3Mix=]'', Vinny accidentally referred to a Paratroopa as a "bird" after mistakenly defeating one that had to be jumped off to reach a [[GottaCatchThemAll Star Coin]].
-->"Aw, shit, I needed that bird. [{{beat}}] '''Bird.''' I called it a bird. Holy crap."
* CallBack:
** Vinny's ''Mario 64'' corruption video has one to the finale of the SNES corruptions.
--->"Luigi, I got terminal seven. ''This is what it looks like, Luigi!''"
** In Vinny's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EG6uerh6WKo#t=423 Half-Life 2 corruption stream]] (referring to the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzQiQ1pVlN8 Sesame Street corruptions]]):
--->"This is not an underwater adventure. This is not an underwater adventure, this is pain!"
** During Vinny's final ''Ocarina of Time 3D'' stream, he mentioned looking for "the head" when he was a teenager after hearing about it but not knowing what it meant. When a viewer asked if he ever got "the head" since then, he gave "I never waap alone" as his answer, referencing a ''Majora's Mask'' corruption stream.
** During his otherwise mostly properly read full stream of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask 3D'', Vinny reads the Happy Mask Salesman's "important mask" line as "iipootaat maak" from his old corruption videos of the original, as well as doing the same with the carpenter.
** Vinny gave Link the name "Lint" during his stream of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTheWindWaker Chaos Edition''. During his first stream of ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTwilightPrincess Twilight Princess HD]]'' he started to type "[=LinT=]" (with a capital T this time) as Link's name but ended up reverting it back to the default.
** During Vinny's streams of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTheMinishCap'', Vinny frequently referred to Mutoh (the head carpenter) as "the mayor" as a reference to when he mistook him for the mayor during his streams of ''Majora's Mask 3D''. Similarly to ''Majora's Mask'' and unlike ''Ocarina of Time'' (which first featured the character in question, albeit unnamed), an actual mayor appears in ''The Minish Cap''.
** During one of his ''VideoGame/Bayonetta3'' streams, happening a couple of weeks after his ''VideoGame/CrisisCore'' remake playthrough, Vinny [[https://youtu.be/-LhE9sVjWLg?t=511 showed]] a fan remake of one of his earliest videos -- a YouTubePoop of [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akGp-Qqo-cI the scene]] where Zack and Cloud talk about their hometowns.
* TheCameo: Of all people, one wouldn't expect Creator/SteveBlum or [[WebVideo/RedLetterMedia Mr. Plinkett]] himself to drop in and record a few promo videos for them.
* CantUnHearIt: [[invoked]] A level from the 2015 ''Super Mario Bros. X'' contest tried to cause this effect with some of its text, but Vinny didn't know he was supposed to read it in a "shitty Creator/MorganFreeman" voice until the very end of the text.
* CassandraTruth: The first part of Vinny's ''VideoGame/DevilMayCry3DantesAwakening'' stream has a random Twitch chat member inform him of a Washington state alert system hijacking that was specifically done to advertise Vinesauce. Vinny thought such a thing was too ridiculous to be real, so he started engaging in his usual SelfDeprecation, telling people not to subscribe. It wasn't until another chat member later confirmed the story on Twitter (and again [[https://www.reddit.com/r/Vinesauce/comments/f77k71/emergency_alert_system_in_washington_state_was/ on /r/vinesauce]]) that he seriously addressed it.
* CelebrityImpersonator: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHOtBrBPBkc Vinny received an odd email]] claiming to be from Creator/KieferSutherland. It read like the email he received from Fantabuloso that advertised ''VideoGame/LeFantabulousGame'', especially since both emails misspell Vinny's name ("Viney" for Fantabuloso's and "Viny" for "Kiefer Sutherland's").
* CelebrityResemblance:
** During a UsefulNotes/{{Shovelware}} Showcase stream, Vinny fiddled with the avatar creator of one game and unintentionally made Music/RingoStarr.
** When Vinny got to the Hokulani Observatory in ''Pokémon Moon'', he thought that Molayne looks like Creator/StephenMerchant.
** When Vinny was streaming ''VideoGame/{{EarthBound|1994}}'' he thought one of the NPC sprites resembles Creator/SatoruIwata, who he knew worked as a programmer for the game, and thought that Orange Kid looks like Stephen Merchant and further compared Apple Kid to Creator/RickyGervais and Ness to Creator/KarlPilkington. Vinny also acknowledged the various unnamed [=NPCs=] who look like Creator/MrT.
* CharityMotivationSong: After [[https://twitter.com/Rev_Scarecrow/status/696820357173383168 Rev decided]] to donate the proceeds from his ''[=HotStart=]'' album to people affected by the water crisis in Flint, Michigan, [[https://twitter.com/Rev_Scarecrow/status/696820744471228417 he tweeted]] that a second Bees [=McBees=] album would be a charity album dedicated to helping the dwindling bee population, though this ended up not being the case when a second Bees [=McBees=] album (''☻☻☻'') actually was made.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}:
** A lot of the streamers straddle the line, but Joel embraces it.
** Limes seems to do this, although she still keeps herself focused on her objectives.
** The emails Vinny received from Fantasticaneer advertising ''VideoGame/TheFantasticGame'', Fantabuloso advertising ''VideoGame/LeFantabulousGame'', and a thinly veiled Kiefer Sutherland impersonator completely randomly in 2016, were rather "out there" and nonsensical.
* CluelessAesop: "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLoqt-IhY4s Anyway, don't give your ferrets crack...]]" Note that it's clueless in that Rev ''quite literally'' spouted it at random.
-->"[[LampshadeHanging ...where did that come from...]]"
* ComicallyMissingThePoint: Vinny hates Malo from ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTwilightPrincess'' and knew what he was getting into when mentioned a "Malo sword" during one stream of the HD version, but one piece from the ensuing wave of fan art invokes this trope by depicting a ''[[VideoGame/SuperMarioRPG Mallow]]'' sword instead.
%%This could use a Booru link if one exists
* CompanionCube:
** KY once played a challenge run of ''VideoGame/{{Spelunky}}'' which involves finding a rock and carrying it with you for the whole game. He ended up buying a camera to take photos of himself together with the rock, naming it [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pI025oACY_c Havel the Rock,]] and playing [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyX To Xanarkand]] over the image of his dead player character and the rock to symbolise their friendship.
%%** The Magic 8-Ball in Rev's stream of ''VideoGame/Facade2005''.

* ContinuityPorn:
** The [[spoiler: [=VineMEMZ virus=]]] from the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFlP3K7Zoow Windows 10 Destruction encore]] in 2016 makes an insane number of references to the previous Destruction streams [[spoiler: (including [=BonziBUDDY=]!)]], as well as references to other Vinesauce memes such as Fuck Bees, Grand Dad, and the Felix the Cat Game Over screen. Joel was thoroughly impressed.
** In 2017, Leurak cooked up a special virus just for Joel's Windows Vista destruction stream, and it gets shown off at the end of the first part. Its name is [[PuppeteerParasite Bonzify]], and its antics (namely hijacking every single process and program it can find, plus referencing countless Vinesauce in-jokes) manage to redeem Bonzi Buddy's reputation as a meme, if but for a moment.
--->'''Bonzify''': ''[[KilroyWasHere Bonzi was here.]]''
* TheCorruption:
** Corruption streams, started by Vinny and in which he uses a data munging tool from Zophar's Domain (later dropped in favor of the in-house developed Vinesauce Corruptor, with more features, which was eventually replaced with the Real-Time Corruptor (RTC)) to inject noise inside a game's ROM, in an attempt to create insanity.
** Eventually taken to the next level with the NES Hardware Corruptor, a specially modded NES designed to directly corrupt game data from an NES cart using an actual NES (in contrast to using emulation), using knobs installed in the system.
* CouchGag:
** One short-lived video intro used on the Vinesauce [=YouTube=] was a collage of Vinesauce-related words, with Vinny reading them aloud. Each time it was used, the last two words are [[BreadEggsMilkSquick much dirtier]] (such as "dildonics" in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLsTRUqKjBg&index=4&list=PLHmR7c8zbVZTS_DuekJeWwWZ4BknInJ6X "Ralph Finds a Girlfriend"]]) and cause Vinny to derail.
** The modern video intro is a 3D model of the word "Vinesauce" slamming onto the ground with a [[VideoGame/SuperMario64 Thwomp]] grunt, followed by the Vineshroom dropping in with the ''Super Mario Bros.'' 1-up jingle[[labelnote:*]]As of 2017, the jingle often gets reversed[[/labelnote]]. Variations on this usually change the Thwomp sound to something else (such as [[WeAreExperiencingTechnicalDifficulties breaking glass]] for corruption highlights), though it also happens to the 1-up noise; it gets replaced by Vinny grunting "Dyuck!" (a cross between "dick" and "duck" Vinny came up with during the original stream) for the ''VideoGame/WeHappyFew'' video.
%%* CrazySurvivalist:
%%** Joel quickly falls into this when he and Rev play ''VideoGame/DayZ''.

* CreatorBreakdown: [[invoked]] Joel sees one unfold in front of him at the end of the ''[[VideoGame/PokemonGoldAndSilver Pokemon Dark Graystone]]'' [[GameMod beta]], where the creator rants about how he isn't going to continue working on the project because no one gives it any attention. This is followed by a credits sequence that [[ClusterFBomb childishly insults]] the people that worked on ''VideoGame/PokemonGoldAndSilver''.
* CringeComedy:
** Exposing Vinny to any sort of quirky works whose target audience is mainly {{Otaku}} usually turns him into a gold mine for this type of comedy. For example, really crappy low budget {{visual novel}}s featuring [[https://youtu.be/UqkHVOK_YiI?t=3302 stray cat]] or [[https://youtu.be/IMMjrgo0pB8?list=PLlc94szfcNDFl0yBP6TXEMqXRa7rJkaNG&t=560 dog]] [[LittleBitBeastly girls]], or games like ''VideoGame/GalGun''.
** Much to Vinny's dismay, a weird work having a budget still doesn't prevent him from cringing a lot, as he found out the hard way with ''Puyo Puyo Tetris 2''[='=]s story mode. He barely gets ten minutes into the story before sounding like he's laughing and crying at the same time and skipping dialogue.
--->'''Vinny:''' Chat, I'm bleeding internally.
** Corruption Stockpile #55 brought an unexpected game to the lineup: ''VideoGame/RumbleRoses''. He spends the whole segment on edge due to its {{Fanservice}}-y women's wrestling premise, finally losing it when he [[https://youtu.be/n5bCIzHZbcU?t=3740 hears an out-of-context line of dialogue]] about a wrestler's sheep having "more magnificent teats" (which, of course, the corruption [[SensoryAbuse amplifies to deafening levels]]).
--->'''Vinny:''' ''[audibly panicked]'' What is this game!? [[PunctuatedForEmphasis What. Is. This. Game!?]] What is this gammmme-uh? That wasn't a corruption, that was an actual line of dialogue! [[OhCrap Oh, we are playing with fire!]]
* CripplingOverspecialization:
** Vinny describes the J-Bomb from ''VideoGame/BlastCorps'' as such:
--->"The purpose of this [[HumongousMecha mech]] is to destroy buildings. There is literally no other reason for this thing to exist, other than to destroy as many things as possible. It has [[{{Flight}} one primary function]] and [[GroundPound one primary move]]."
** He remarks that the Sideswipe from the same game is "a very, very specifically-used vehicle", designed to knock down parallel building by ramming them with its hydraulic sides.
* {{Crossover}}: Vinny [[TheCameo cameoed]] [[https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=vinesauce+cinemassacre a few times]] on Creator/{{Cinemassacre}}'s channel, which is best known for their WebVideo/AngryVideoGameNerd videos.
%%* CutenessOverload: Limes' common reaction whenever she plays a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFGpl61L9Rs&t=2m12s Mamegoma]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c756wCwMDFQ&t=1m44s game]].
%%** Joel's reaction to the aforementioned CuteKitten.
* DamnYouMuscleMemory:
** During Vinny's second stream of ''VideoGame/SuperMario3DWorld'', he found himself trying to merge into walls because he was playing ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaALinkBetweenWorlds'' around the same time.
** Defied when Vinny alternates between ''VideoGame/KirbyTripleDeluxe'' and ''VideoGame/MarioGolf: World Tour'' in 2014. He initially isn't confident in his ability to do the goal game in ''Kirby'' properly, but he later discovers that improving his golf swing timing in ''Mario Golf'' also improved his goal game timing in ''Kirby''.
** Most of Vinny's streams of ''VideoGame/Splatoon1'' featured the multiplayer mode, so he's had to remind himself that he doesn't need to splatter ink everywhere when starting a single-player level, with ink in single-player mode simply being used either as an attack or as a way to move around.
* DemBones: Joel has a strange fascination with skeletons, and they come up a lot in his streams.
* DesignatedHero: In-universe, Vinny considers the protagonist of ''Torrente 3'' to be one. The main character is incompetent, wastes the player's time with ToiletHumor, and repeatedly says offensive things that somehow manage to top each other each time.
* {{Determinator}}: The streamers aren't taken to giving up, ever.
** Joel took at least ten minutes of a stream to beat [[VideoGame/IncredibleCrisis a Japanese arcade minigame where he had to avoid cars while riding a stretcher down a highway]]. He only quit when he played a minigame that required the ability to read kanji.
** In an infamous incident from the stream's early years, a guest streamer spent ''six hours'' on the fight against Ridley in ''VideoGame/MetroidZeroMission''.
** Fred persevered in beating ''VideoGame/{{Ys}} Origin'' on its highest difficulty setting, despite being visibly frustrated by how hard the boss fights were. When the game crashed during the credits, he restarted the game and beat the final boss a second time.
*** During a very early playthrough of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime'', Fred spent a few hours trying to catch the Hylian Loach before finally succeeding.[[http://vinesaucevidya.blogspot.com/2011/01/hylian-loach-acquired.html]]

* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu:
** Whenever Joel uses a mod to kill people in ''The Sims'', Death comes to reap their souls. As it turns out, even ''he'' can be killed.
** Within the span of a week, Vinny, across [[VideoGame/{{Miitopia}} three]] [[VideoGame/RockOfAges different]] [[VideoGame/{{Cuphead}} games]], defeated Jesus, God, and Satan.
* DisguisedHorrorStory:
** Japanese indie game ''innyume'', a game Vinny played on [[https://youtu.be/d6TPyTqu6Yw?t=3519 one of his Spooptober streams]], initially presents itself as this, opening with a cutscene that references several [[Website/FourChan 2ch]] memes, one of which is the "Smile Ghost", [[https://en.everybodywiki.com/Smileghost_(Innyume) ostensibly]] the profile picture of a user whose Japanese reading comprehension wasn't exactly up to snuff. The pretense is dropped fairly quickly, though, as Vinny finds himself dropped in the middle of a dark building immediately after the cutscene ends and promptly getting chased around by several copies of the Smile Ghost, which now have [[{{Cephalothorax}} unsettlingly human arms and legs attached to them.]] The game left such an impression on Vinny that [[https://youtu.be/CzkGyf3ZRwE?t=853 a brief Smile Ghost cameo]] in ''VideoGame/MariosMysteryMeat'' managed to scare him again.
--->'''Vinny:''' ''[Smile Ghost comes into view]'' ...[[FlatWhat What?]] '''''OH GOD!''''' ''[hyena laugh]'' Oh god, no! Get these fuckin[='=] emojis away from me, please!
** A {{Retraux}} remake of ''innyume'' called [[https://youtu.be/251wTEjIlh4?t=13110 innyume-doom]] also has a similar setup and elicits similar reactions from Joel. Instead of recreating the original game's intro, the map starts off with a low-effort title screen featuring a brightly-lit Smile Ghost and default DOOM music. Joel naturally reacts to it with fake horror at first, only to start shitting his pants mere seconds after starting to actually play the level. A faithful recreation of the red Smile Ghost that sprints after the player near the end of the game manages to send Joel into full-on panic as he races for the level's exit while [[InelegantBlubbering inelegantly blubbering]].
---> '''Joel:''' This is actually scary. ''[runs into a Smile Ghost]'' Oh go- ''[starts whimpering]'' ...I absolutely hate this.
** ''[[https://moyahorror.itch.io/sauna2000 Sauna 2000]]'' starts off as the Finnish sauna simulator it's advertised as, with Joel repeatedly [[ForeignCussWord dropping "perkele" and "vittu"]] between fits of laughter and Vinny absentmindedly engaging in small talk with chat like he usually does. The "horror story" part comes into play when [[https://youtu.be/KJAzNWFAoXM?t=666 the local demon]] [[https://youtu.be/eRwq6jY5_0Q?t=2646 drops by]] after the sauna is set up. After the DeliberateVHSQuality gets turned up to OminousVisualGlitch levels, the game dives straight into SurrealHorror as the protagonist finds himself in increasingly glitchy scenery after his sauna session.
---> '''Joel:''' Get the fuck ''in''! Get the fuck ''in''! ''[nervous laughter]'' What the fuck's going on!?
* DisproportionateRetribution: Joel doesn't think Norway is as awesome as Sweden, so he drops 5,000 nuclear bombs on the country in ''VideoGame/ShadowPresident''. He wanted to do the same to Texas simply because that's where Rev is from.
* DontExplainTheJoke: After streaming ''The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D'', Vinny showed a piece of art attributing the death of [[spoiler:the Cucco Lady's brother]] to the Deku Tree Sprout, after which Vinny analyzed the art aloud and eventually felt that he may have ruined the joke by deconstructing it.
* {{Doorstopper}}: During Vinny's playthrough of the ''VideoGame/SuperMario64'' GameMod ''Waluigi's Taco Stand'', people in the comments section have made various claims about the length of the fanfic it was based on, ranging from 100 to 500 chapters.
* DramaticIrony: Vinny {{lampshaded|Trope}} this in his playthrough of ''VideoGame/MegaMan8'', when he noticed the chat was suddenly "memeing" about something he was unaware of. It turns out they were referring to the subsequent - and infamously difficult - snowboarding segment.
* TheDreaded: During "Stream 0" of Imakuni's ''The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time'' streams, which was her first time playing the game, she says "Oh no..." before the earlier scenes with Kaepora Gaebora because of his very long [[MrExposition exposition]] and the fact that it's easy to accidentally choose the option for him to repeat what he says.
* DrosteImage: The finale of Joel's Windows 10 corruption has [[spoiler: the MEMZ.exe program corrupt his virtual machine's screen this way, forcing the PC to repeatedly take screenshots of the entire desktop, including when the preview window is open.]]
* DudeLooksLikeALady: Vinny mistook Yuga for a woman during his first stream of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaALinkBetweenWorlds''. He was corrected during his second stream when Osfala referred to him as male during the cutscene at the entrance of the Eastern Palace.
* EarlyGameHell: Vinny's streams of ''The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD'' got off to a rough start, as a combination of the small amount of health at the beginning of the game, the increased damage and decreased amount of ways to restore health in Hero Mode, and the fact that Link can only use potions in human form led to multiple deaths after Link first became a wolf.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness:
** Earlier in Vinesauce's life, Joel's [=YouTube=] channel was used as a general Vinesauce channel and still contains highlight videos for streams from streamers other than Joel, such as Vinny's streams of ''VideoGame/AnimalCrossingCityFolk'' and Fred's drunk ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOracleGames The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons]]'' stream.
** In the early days of Vinny's [=YouTube=] channel, stream highlight videos were edited by Vinny himself. The difference in style and humor between that era and later ones is quite noticeable. Going back even further than that, to the channel's beginnings circa 2010, Vinny's channel was used as a place for Vinny's music, miscellaneous videos and general shitposts. He also used to upload clips from a [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public-access_television public access TV]] show called ''Up 2 Late'', where Vinny and some of his old friends performed random skits on their local television station.
** Vinny's famous corruption streams started off fairly humble. Before the fan-made [[https://redscientist.com/rtc Real Time Corruptor]] gave Vinesauce fans the ability to submit their own corruptions, these streams often consisted of Vinny himself doing the corrupting, spending most of his time fiddling around with third-party RAM editors. Interesting corruptions were few and far between, and when they happened, they were often fairly short events. Vinny has mentioned on occasion in his Corruption Stockpile streams how the RTC has drastically streamlined the viewer experience, shifting the focus away from corruption process solely to the results.
* EdibleThemeNaming: ''VideoGame/PokemonVietnameseCrystal'' names some Pokémon after food and Joel thought that Venonat being named "Corn" was particularly odd during his playthrough of the game.
* TheEeyore: Vinny's ebooks Twitter bot [[https://twitter.com/vinny_ebooks/status/763249762598543360 claims to have never had an awesome time]], [[https://twitter.com/vinny_ebooks/status/763196916431777794 seems unsure about his future]], and [[https://twitter.com/vinny_ebooks/status/763068573384400897 seems unsatisfied in general]].
* EldritchLocation: Vinny created a story about a kingdom named Fanoth early on in the Mario corruption streams. The closer one gets to Fanoth, the more the land becomes corrupted, and a giant barrier blocks any from entering. That is, until the 2015 Super Mario Brothers X contest, where one of the entries shows exactly what lies beyond the barrier. [[spoiler:As it turns out, Fanoth is related to SEN.]]
* EmoTeen: During a stream of ''Super Mario Bros. [=3Mix=]'', Vinny comments that he accidentally sounded like one when he said "there is beauty to be found in the darkness" to sum up his opinion of why he thinks depressing music can be appealing. The fact that he was in a [[BigBoosHaunt ghost house]] level when he said it led to one piece of art joking that "Emo Vinny likes depressing music and ghost houses."
* EnsembleDarkHorse: In his playthrough of the ''Anime/GregoryHorrorShow'' game, he considers [[ATeamFiring Cactus Gunman]] to be the best character in the game, mainly due to his GratuitousSpanish.
* EpicFail: During one of Vinny's streams of ''The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild'', he was fighting a Guardian on Death Mountain and failed to parry its beam, resulting in Link being propelled down the mountain, which caused him to lose all of his hearts, followed by having some hearts restored by a fairy and completely losing the small amount of health the fairy restored. Vinny found this game over to be so over-the-top that he found it more amusing than annoying, which led to its appearance in a highlight video on Vinny's main [=YouTube=] channel.
* EpilepticTrees: [[invoked]] Parodied when Vinny says during a stream of ''The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds'' that he thinks that the DarkWorld of ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaALinkToThePast A Link to the Past]]'' became Lorule over time, followed by adding that he was joking and is well aware that ''A Link to the Past''[='=]s Dark World is the result of Ganon corrupting Hyrule's Sacred Realm.
* EyeScream: [[invoked]] [[https://youtu.be/9gsHo89xyzE One]] of the bizarre girls' Flash games Rev played is an eye doctor game. It was as gross as it sounds and Rev said it reminded him of a scene in ''VideoGame/DeadSpace'', a ''horror'' game. Rev sat {{squick}}ed through it.
* FaceDeathWithDignity: [=BonziBUDDY=], in Joel's Windows XP Destruction Stream. With the destruction of the virtual machine assured after spouting off his FacingTheBulletsOneLiner, Bonzi puts on his sunglasses and simply ''waits'' for Joel to delete [=System32=] without saying another word.
* FacialHorror: An occasional consequence of the streamers' corruptions of games. Vinny, himself, has a nickname for this: "terminal 7".
* FailedASpotCheck: Vinny's habit of missing things that are right in front of him--as much to his own frustration as the viewers'--spawned its own emote, "[=VineBlind=]".
* FailureIsTheOnlyOption:
** Vinny usually fails at ''VideoGame/{{Bayonetta}}'' once per boss fight. ''Mario Kart 8''[='=]s multiplayer follows suit, with Vinny tending to stay in last place for most of the race. Even if he manages to get within the top 3, he won't hold the position for long.
** Almost every encounter Vinny has had [[VideoGame/FarCry4 with a rhino]] has ended badly.
%%** Fred's streams usually end with him failing. [[YouCantFightFate Badly]].
* FauxSymbolism: [[invoked]] Played for laughs when Vinny discusses where to get Platform/NintendoSwitch pre-orders during his fifth ''[=EarthBound=]'' stream and he mentions that Amazon recommended an assortment of Jesus-related items for unexplained reasons, questioning what led their algorithm to produce those results.
* FinalSolution: Joel plots to do this to the [[AnimalWrongsGroup the elves]] in his ''VideoGame/DwarfFortress'' streams.
* FlatWhat: Vinny occasionally does one, ranging from the understated and serious one he did during a strange bit of early audio distortion while playing ''Mario's Time Battle'' to the exaggerated and comedic one he did while playing ''VideoGame/MetroidSamusReturns'' upon being informed by chat that WebVideo/TheCompletionist had already beaten the game 10 times a mere two days after it had been released.
* FleetingDemographicRule: {{Subverted|Trope}} in Vinny's compilation streams; whenever he plays a game he's already covered in a previous stream, it's because he himself doesn't remember playing that game until the chat points it out to him. Whenever this happens, he keeps his time with the game short before moving on to a fresh new game.
* FluffyTheTerrible: When playing ''CHKN'', Vinny created a [[MixAndMatchCritter giraffe-octopus-snake-crab]] monster with a deadly attack and a tremendous appetite. While initially dubbing it a "Jerokto Snakrab", he decides to name it "Jerome" after a chat member requested it.
* FollowTheLeader: [[invoked]] After the success of ''The Fantastic Game'', Vinny got [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEIlxdPXJUY a suspiciously similar e-mail and game]] from a Fantasticaneer knock-off. [[SanitySlippage It didn't]] [[BerserkButton go well]]. Ironically, Vinny would later play the game's update, actually enjoying it after quite a while of ignoring the "egg-like" genre due to repetitiveness.
* FoodPorn: Parodied when the subject of Italian food came up during one of Vinny's streams of ''The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap''. Vinny proceeded to give a highly detailed description of cannoli that was peppered with mock-{{Freudian slip}}s that involved using disgusting-sounding words followed by "correcting" himself and saying something more appetizing, followed by making himself hungry for cannoli and realizing that talking about food would probably make viewers hungry and doing so late at night would be a bad idea, because nobody would want to go out and buy cannoli at 1:30 AM.
* ForcedTransformation:
** Joel's mods of ''The Sims'' allow him to modify already existing Sims, such as when a random guy was transformed into a deformed Pikachu man.
** Vinny is surprised when a glitch causes Shy Guys to turn into clouds in ''Super Mario Bros. [=3Mix=]''. He follows this up by joking that Nintendo was angry about the hack and caused the glitch.
--->"Same thing with the videos on my channel--oh, oh God... did they just turn into clouds? Nintendo's mad. They glitched my ROM hack."
** Parodied when Vinny joked during a ''Super Mario Bros. [=3Mix=]'' stream that his voice sounded hoarse because he was turning into a bug. (It was actually because he wore his voice out talking at PAX East 2015.)
* ForeignCussWord:
** Joel once mentioned that he went to a Christian school that considered English-language cuss words to be more severe than their Swedish counterparts, in contrast to the common tendency for people to consider profanity to be less severe if it's not in their native tongue.
** Vinny encountered a level called "Kuso! Cavern ?" in the second ROM he played during his first randomized ''Super Mario World'' stream. After someone told him that "kuso" means "shit" in Japanese, he mentioned that the level lived up to its name due to its difficulty (the level was an underwater fortress that began with a very narrow passageway containing Bony Beetles).
* FranchiseOriginalSin: [[invoked]] Joel mentions in his gameplay footage of ''VideoGame/ShadowTheHedgehog'' that the original ''Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog'' games suffered from camera problems, that because the screen was presented in 4:3 as opposed to 16:9, the player is prone to crashing into enemies and obstacles if they weren't familiar enough with the level layout. Notably, this is from the perspective of someone that was never even a fan of the franchise, and thus wouldn't know how prevalent camera issues would be in the 3D games.
* FreakOut: Joel was genuinely startled and upset when his Xbox 360 started dying. Some viewers apparently didn't believe that it happened (this was before he started archiving his streams), because [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ncaxPS5CYD0 Piergaming's upload of the incident]] contains a NotMakingThisUpDisclaimer in the description (though this may partially be because a previous, shorter upload signaled the console's approximate "time of death" by displaying a demonic-looking Xbox logo, which was edited in by Piergaming but isn't present in the unabridged video).
* FreudianSlip: When Vinny was going through the Great Bay Temple in ''The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D'', he attempted to assure viewers that he got a Stray Fairy from a jar but mistakenly made it sound like he said he got high by phrasing it as "I did the pot."
* FunnyForeigner: Joel sometimes invokes this by putting on a fake Swedish accent that sounds far from his usual speaking voice and acting confused over concepts from other countries.
* FreudWasRight:
** When Vinny works on a treasure room in ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaALinkBetweenWorlds'', he thinks that a combination of a rectangular platform and two crystal switches looks like a penis and testicles when they're next to each other. He then tries to erase that image from his mind by saying they look like [[Franchise/TheMuppets Gonzo]]'s nose instead.
** Vinny thinks a combination of two P buttons, a bridge, and a square platform in ''VideoGame/SuperMario3DWorld'' looks suspiciously phallic.
--->'''Vinny:''' "Hey, wait a minute. Who designed this level? ''[beat]'' '''Who designed this level!?''' I am not OK with this! ...PP. This is... this is just wrong."
** Vinny comments that he thinks the Like Likes in ''The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D'' look like male sex toys and adds that the Four Giants use them that way (due to their size).
** Vinny's response to seeing the Great Plateau Tower rise from the ground in Master Mode in ''The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild'' is to say "Me when I first played ''Zelda''."
** At the end of ''VideoGame/MarioTennis Aces''[='=] story mode, Vinny thinks the hat Mario is drawing looks phallic before it's finished, and is relieved when it turns out to just be Mario's hat.
** In ''VideoGame/PaperMarioTheOrigamiKing'', Vinny [[https://youtu.be/acQIHzjrKkA?t=6391 finds a collectible sculpture for the museum sidequest]], which is labeled as number [[{{LOL69}} 69]]. The statue is of a tower shaped like an extremely tall Toad, which has a mushroom-shaped head. And it's found in a dimly-lit hotel bedroom. Vinny is amused by the [[AccidentalInnuendo implications]].
%%* GameBreakingBug: A novel feature in many streams.
%%* GloriousMotherRussia: [[https://youtu.be/bUS5RYUfW9g?t=40s Joel]], on occasion.
* GoMadFromTheRevelation: Vinny during his ''VideoGame/SuperMarioKart'' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=FtxhSQiduMk#t=293 corruption stream]]:
-->'''Vinny:''' Was it [[AllJustADream all in his head...]]?\\
The next race has [[spoiler: eight Marios in place of every racer.]]\\
'''Vinny:''' It was ALL IN HIS HEAD!!! [[{{Angrish}} *HRGGNWHAT BARKHBRAINMARIO*!!]]
* GoneHorriblyRight: During Joel's Windows 10 destruction he installs a bad real virus called 'memz' which really destroys the poor thing, which was already hurting from toolbars and fake antivirus software.
* AGoodNameForARockBand:
** When a viewer asked Vinny how he came up with the name Music/RedVox for his band, he said it came to him in a dream and he decided to use it, as he hadn't decided on a name prior to that.
** After Vinny repeatedly turned the 3D on his 3DS on and off during his sixth ''Ocarina of Time 3D'' stream, he said that watching the 3DS do that is "ocular suicide" and then said that "Ocular Suicide" sounded like a band name for edgy 16-year-olds.
** During a round of Multi-Man Smash in his eighth stream of ''[[VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosForNintendo3DSAndWiiU Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS]]'', Vinny fights Miis of UsefulNotes/{{Jesus}} and Music/TheBeatles and jokes that he thinks that "Jesus and the Beatles" sounds like a band name, then further jokes that "the Beatles" part of that name is already taken.
** During his stream of ''Super Metroid'', Vinny talks about how he came up with the name "Especially Onions" for a hipster trash band. Later on he mentions that he thinks that "Strange Assumptions" would be the name of their first album.
* GoryDiscretionShot: Hilariously and accidentally invoked in Vinny's playthrough of ''VideoGame/LuigisMansion3''. Luigi is snapped up by Dr. Potter's ManEatingPlant, and for some reason, the camera pans up and away ''just'' as the plant starts chomping on Luigi. Vinny isn't sure why.
* GratuitousForeignLanguage: During a destruction stream, Joel installs a piece of Polish malware that displays the text "kup teraz"[[note]]"buy now"[[/note]], which he ends up repeating. In a later stream, he referenced this by describing Poland as "the country that brought us 'kup teraz'".
* GratuitousGerman:
** During a ''Majora's Mask'' corruption stream, every instance of "the" in the game's text was replaced with "das", even within other words (such as "then" becoming "dasn").
** Vinny pointed out an example from ''VideoGame/CastlevaniaSymphonyOfTheNight''. After he successfully farmed for a Runesword [[spoiler:(which he lost because he died without saving his post-farming progress)]], he points out how the slashing animation displays the text "verboten" (the German word for "forbidden").
* GratuitousJapanese: After the Star Roads were changed to "Kuso Zones" in one of the [=ROMs=] from Vinny's second randomized ''Super Mario World'' stream, he frequently referred to what he perceived as cheap shots as "kuso" (Japanese for "shit") during that stream.
* GratuitousSpanish:
** Joel said "Dios mío" ("my God") during part of his long-winded, over-the-top reaction to the title screen of ''Super Mario 7''.
** When Frog introduces himself by saying "La frogs" in ''Kronos Trigger'' (a text-obfuscation hack of ''VideoGame/ChronoTrigger''), he randomly uses the feminine word for "the" in various Romance languages. Vinny found this line to be funny due to how random it is compared to what he said in the original game.
* HairTriggerTemper: Vinny joked that the first randomized ''VideoGame/SuperMarioWorld'' ROM he streamed was mad at him for insulting its ice physics after the emulator crashed while he was playing a level with said physics, further adding that the secret referred to by the name of the previously completed "Pepperoni Secret" level was that the ROM was ''always'' mad.
* HellIsThatNoise: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=jHVc-BMy5IY#t=520 Joel's stream of]] ''All Dogs Go to Heaven'' quickly goes downhill after the title screen thanks to the abysmal sound compression and mismatched clock speed, which results in the game belting out extremely loud sound clipped to hell and back. The harshness of it results in Joel screaming in agony the entire time, jokingly dubbing the game ''All Dogs Go to Hell''.
* HeWhoMustNotBeSeen: Most, if not all, of the Vinesauce team make it a point to not use facecams.
* HelloInsertNameHere: The streamers enjoy messing with naming systems.
** Vinny is known for naming his characters bizarrely, often inserting vulgar terms and InherentlyFunnyWords like "foreskin" and "fungus". He has a particular preference for the "sk-" sound (seen in the name of his ''Skate 3'' character, Bub Skebulba, and in ''[[WebVideo/VinesauceTomodachiLife Tomodachi Life]]'' with the name he gave Witch, Sklort [=McFungus=]). During a corruption of ''VideoGame/ChronoTrigger'', he gave Crono the name Broco. However, Vinny has also gone with a much simpler and less weird option multiple times by naming his characters Vine, such as in ''VideoGame/AnimalCrossing'' and ''[[VideoGame/PokemonSunAndMoon Pokémon Moon]]''.
** Infamously, when Joel was doing his "Windows XP Destruction" stream and [=BonziBUDDY=] asked for his name, he entered "Expand Dong" instead of an actual name.
** When playing ''Life and Death'', Joel named his doctor "Dr. Pepper" after a famous soda brand. When he played the sequel, he typed in "dr pepper is back", which resulted in the other doctors calling him "Dr. dr pepper is back".
** In ''VideoGame/KittyPowersMatchmaker'', Rev named his character "[[BeeAfraid Bees McBees]]". He would later use the name for his ''[=HotStart=]'' album, which was inspired by a joke he made while streaming the game. When he played ''Punch Club'' a few weeks later, he followed it up with "Bees [=McKnee=]" (there was a character limit).
** Vinny gave Link the name "Lint" when streaming ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTheWindWaker Chaos Edition''. He started to type "[=LinT=]" during his first stream of ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTwilightPrincess Twilight Princess HD]]'', though he ended up reverting Link's name to the default before starting the game.
** Imakuni names Link "THIEF" in "Stream 0" of her ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime'' streams, which is what [=NPCs=] call Link in ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaLinksAwakening Link's Awakening]]'' if he steals from the shop.
* {{Hipster}}: Rev's character in ''VideoGame/KittyPowersMatchmaker'', Bees [=McBees=], is an elderly hipster. Rev jokes that his favorite genre of music is the sound of a dishwasher slowed down to 3 BPM.
* HopeSpot:
** During a stream of ''Tekken Tag Tournament 2'', Joel's Xbox crashed and began to Red Ring, with all efforts to restart it causing it to make a strange "zap" noise. After pleading with it for a few minutes, it becomes functional again long enough for him to restart the game - only to hear that same telltale "zap" sound again, making it obvious that the Xbox really was going to die after all. An uncut clip of the moment can be seen [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ncaxPS5CYD0 here.]]
** In Vinny's stream of ''VideoGame/{{B3313}}'', Vinny comes across the [[spoiler:Faceless Mario room]] by complete accident, then spends a chunk of time trying to retrace his steps to get back to that room. After successfully navigating through the game's [[MindScrew esoteric]] HubLevel, Vinny finally makes it to the room preceding the event... and just gives up and turns around, as though he didn't recognize the room and thought he had lost the trail. Thankfully, he successfully find the event again later in the stream.
* HostileShowTakeover:
** The Vinesauce website has been jokingly taken over twice: Once by KY for the "Kings of KY" AprilFoolsDay event, and once by Turtls when Vinny made a bet to him with ownership of the site at stake and lost said bet.
** Joel was the subject of a rather controversial (albeit ultimately harmless) one in November of 2015. Due to an [=XSplit=] password leak, an InternetJerk managed to get ahold of Joel's [=YouTube=] channel and mock him through several videos, before deleting all of Joel's material to try and intimidate the fans. Since the incident started on a Saturday, when Google's employees are inactive, the hijacker managed to hold onto Joel's channel for six days before Joel was finally able to take it back and restore his own videos. While the hijacker turned out to be nothing more than a short-tempered {{troll}}, he ''did'' manage to get a significant rise out of Joel's fans, to the point where the whole Vinesauce crew now acts as if the whole debacle never occurred. As Joel put it, "Well that was fuckin' stupid, wasn't it?"
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckxueZjxg9g&feature=youtu.be Vinny's alter ego]], a character of his named [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-ZO2AMnFSc V-Dub]] who "took over" his channel in late 2015 and streamed ''Call of Duty: Black Ops''. He is a parody of both stereotypical gamers and the person who hijacked Joel's channel around the same time.
* HotterAndSexier: GPM_ebooks claims to have "found out that ''Mario 64'' actually has fucking" in one tweet.
* ICantBelieveItsNotHeroin: During some of Vinny's ''VideoGame/Splatoon1'' streams he's joked about people injecting ink like a drug and has joked about an "inking" subculture built around it.
* IdiosyncraticEpisodeNaming: Rev named each episode of his off-stream ''VideoGame/{{Undertale}}'' playthrough after parts of the poem "[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Masque_of_Anarchy The Masque of Anarchy]]". Considering that the playthrough is a PacifistRun, and that the poem is about nonviolent protest, it fits rather well.
* IDontLikeTheSoundOfThatPlace: When Vinny was still developing the goofy voice he uses when reading Gorons' dialogue in ''Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda'' series during an ''Ocarina of Time 3D'' stream, Dodongo's Cavern became "Bunghole's Cavern" when Darunia was speaking to Link for the first time.
* IfYoureSoEvilEatThisKitten: While playing through the ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVIIRemake'' Vinny sarcastically commented that the cartoonishly-evil Heidegger was too subtle, and suggested that if the developers really wanted to establish his villainy, they should show him [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVFQSiGTtjk&t=11243s "crushing a rat with his dick."]]
* IKnewIt: [[invoked]] Vinny said at the beginning of his first stream of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTwilightPrincess HD'' that the only time he had played any version of ''Twilight Princess'' before then was when he played the Platform/{{Wii}} version around its release and that he had previously thought about streaming the [[Platform/NintendoGameCube GameCube]] version of the game. However, when he heard rumors about an HD remaster coming to the Platform/WiiU, similar to what happened with ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTheWindWaker The Wind Waker]]'' in 2013, he decided to hold off on it and the rumors turned out to be true.
* ImageBooru: This streaming channel, in particular, receives such a large amount of fan art that they set up [[http://vinesauce.booru.org/index.php their own]], so that viewers can upload their fan art and link easily on chat. However, not everyone was content with it and Southbird eventually [[https://booru.vineshroom.net replaced it]] with another.
* InherentlyFunnyWords:
** "Karnov", at least InUniverse. "Trash" and "quality" are treated the same way in-universe, while Rev treated "pickle" this way in one of his PAX South videos, due to the food itself being phallic in shape and KY's alleged obsession with it.
** From Vinny's streams of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaALinkBetweenWorlds'':
*** He ends up finding the word "foist" oddly funny after Yuga uses it during a cutscene and uses it himself multiple times afterward.
*** He ended up finding the word "behoove" to be amusing in the sixth stream after Hilda used the word in question when introducing Link to the Sanctuary area of Lorule.
** Vinny said that he thought "gourd" is a dumb word after saying it multiple times during streams of ''VideoGame/KirbyTripleDeluxe''.
** Vinny noted a comment from a viewer of his fourth ''Ocarina of Time 3D'' stream saying that they couldn't stop laughing at the phrase "throat meat" after Vinny claimed that Lord Jabu-Jabu's Belly contained what looked like either tofu or throat meat.
** Joel has a laughing fit while playing a Russian ''VideoGame/MortalKombat4'' bootleg when the announcer goes [[https://youtu.be/WSwZvGjkihQ?t=403 "SMYET!"]] after a Fatality. It's [[BilingualBonus doubly funny for a Swede like Joel]], since an identically-sounding Swedish word means "to smear".
** Whenever Vinny hears [[VideoGame/DevilMayCry3DantesAwakening Vergil's "Scum!"]] line in combat, he almost always immediately makes fun of it (by pronouncing it "Shkummm-uh!" in a [[Creator/WilliamShatner Shatner-esque]] accent) and has trouble stifling a laugh afterward.
* InnocentInnuendo:
** After all the intentionally questionable drawings in Vinny's ''Game & Wario'' stream (including one that's obviously a sock on a penis that even Vinny predicted would be the end), what got him banned?
--->"It's a spear. The Shy Guy is holding a spear!"
** [[https://youtu.be/y8mVtyGjmvs?t=2m34s "Dusting off the Wii U"]] shows an image of Donkey Kong on the eShop that has the caption "Expand your collection." Vinny made a comment referencing the "Expand Dong" image.
** In [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6D0az4KvFU Rev's PAX South 2016]] video (AKA "Playing with KY's Pickle"), missing audio was replaced with a conversation that took place while KY was eating a pickle. There was some intentional sexual humor from other people present (such as a mention of deep-throating the pickle), but everything said by KY himself was merely about the pickle he was eating.
* InSeriesNickname:
** Vinny refers to Dampé from ''Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda'' series as "Dampy" when playing games that feature him. This originated as an in-joke between him and Mike.
** While streaming ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTheWindWaker'' Vinny referred to the King of Red Lions as the "Mexiking" after he randomly decided to voice his dialogue with a Mexican accent. This carried over to his streams of the HD remaster when it was released a couple of years after the original version was streamed.
** Vinny referred to Yuga as "Yogurt" during his fourth stream of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaALinkBetweenWorlds''.
** Vinny referred to a Magikoopa as a [[Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda Wizzrobe]] during a stream of ''Super Mario 3D World''.
** The title screen of ''Super Mario 7'' (which refers to it as ''7 Grand Dad'') led to the use of the name "Grand Dad" for various characters. This most commonly refers to the OffModel version of Mario on said title screen, but it's also been used for the game's protagonist (who has Fred Flintstone's body and Mario's head) or even [[https://booru.vineshroom.net/post/view/27533 a combination of both]].
** Vinny referred to Kracko as "Cloud Bro" during his third stream of ''VideoGame/KirbyTripleDeluxe''.
** From Vinny's streams of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime 3D'' and ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask 3D'':
*** He referenced another Vinesauce streamer by referring to Kaepora Gaebora from ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime'' as "Hootey" while streaming the Master Quest portion of ''Ocarina of Time 3D'' in 2014, also using this nickname while playing ''Majora's Mask 3D'' the following year.
*** He referred to Nabooru as "VideoGame/{{Shantae}}" during his 13th ''Ocarina of Time 3D'' stream.
*** He referred to Anju's grandmother as "Granny Yam-tits" during his first stream of ''Majora's Mask 3D''. Since he was at the very beginning of the game and thus had yet to get the Ocarina of Time back from Skull Kid, she came up because she and the scarecrows are the only way to skip through time without using the Song of Double Time.
*** In the second stream of ''Majora's Mask 3D'', the "Granny Yam-tits" nickname is reused for Koume instead of Anju's grandmother.
*** A stream of the Ikana Canyon region of ''Majora's Mask 3D'' saw the use of the nickname [[PunnyName "Gary"]] for a Garo on top of Ikana Castle and later the race in general, such as during the fight with the Garo Master in Stone Tower Temple.
** Vinny referred to Bowser as "Koop" during the first battle with him in ''Super Mario Bros. [=3Mix=]''. He would later refer to Bowser Jr. as "BJ" after the fight with him at the end of World 3.
** During a stream of ''Kirby: Planet Robobot'' Vinny gave the nickname "Waddle Friend" to the Bandana Waddle Dee(s) from that game, ''[[VideoGame/KirbysReturnToDreamLand Return to Dream Land]]'', and ''Triple Deluxe''.
** Vinny has a tendency to refer to [[Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda Ganondorf]] as "Crenando" when playing games that feature him, with this nickname also being referenced during Imakuni's streams of ''Ocarina of Time''. The nickname originated from when some of Vinny's friends were playing ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosMelee'' on a small TV and one of them misread Ganondorf's name (Vinny himself wasn't present and heard about it from someone who was). He also uses this nickname to refer to Ganon even when playing games that only contain his beast form (despite the previously misread name, Ganondorf, only referring to his human form), such as during his quick playthrough of [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaI the first game in his home series]] and when visiting the ''VideoGame/AnimalCrossing'' pig villager based on and named after his beast form (who was added in ''New Leaf'''s ''Welcome amiibo'' update, with said update inspiring Vinny to stream the game more frequently).
** Vinny and his friends jokingly use "Louis Cuck King" as an expanded version of Creator/LouisCK's stage name.
** Vinny jokingly referred to Chargin' Chuck as "Football Sam" during his randomized ''VideoGame/SuperMarioWorld'' playthrough.
** Vinny referred to the Photo-Man from ''VideoGame/{{EarthBound|1994}}'' as the "Spin Rabbi" because he thought his clothing (which consists of a dapper black suit and hat) and large beard made him look like a rabbi.
** From Vinny's streams of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaBreathOfTheWild''
*** The streams saw the use of "Nutboy" to refer to Koroks after he read an online post that referred to them as such.
*** Revali ended up being called "Ravioli" after someone in the chat [[AccidentalMisnaming accidentally called him that]].
*** The Yiga Clan earned the nickname of "Banana Fucker(s)" because of their obsession with Mighty Bananas.
*** Vinny sometimes refers to Ganon as "Gan" in addition to using his older "Crenando" nickname.
* InsultBackfire: When Vinny was at the end of ''VideoGame/Splatoon1'''s single-player mode, he thought that [[spoiler:DJ Octavio]] insulting his character by calling her a "slimy little hipster" was more funny than insulting because it was ridiculous and coming from a LargeHam.
* JokeAndReceive:
** While streaming ''[[Franchise/MastersOfTheUniverse He-Man: Defender of Greyskull]]'', Joel makes fun of the ''Franchise/StarWars'' ExpandedUniverse by talking about "the ''He-Man'' books where He-Man and Skeletor have sons", and Skeletor's son is named "Skeleson". In the ''Masters of the Universe Classics'' continuity, He-Man and Skeletor do have sons, Skeletor's being named "Skeleteen".
** During Joel's ''VideoGame/{{Undertale}}'' playthrough he wonders if there are any other skeletons in the game, and jokingly names off 'Helvetica' and 'Wingdings'. ''{{Webcomic/Helvetica}}'', a webcomic about skeletons named after fonts, was actually the inspiration for Papyrus and Sans. As for Wingdings, [[GlitchEntity well...]]
* KaizoTrap:
** Encountered by Vinny in ''The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D'', of all games. When streaming that game's Master Quest mode, he obtained a Skulltula Token on the bottom floor of the Bottom of the Well and managed to get caught by a Wallmaster ''before'' he advanced past the text saying he got the token. Usually the world around Link comes to a halt when he obtains an item that displays notification text after being obtained, but that turned out not to be the case with Skulltula Tokens.
** In level 59 from Vinny's 2015 ''Super Mario Bros. X'' contest ("Underwater Airships" by [=Allx360=]), near the end of the level was a ''VideoGame/SuperMarioBros3''-style battle with Bowser. Since the brick platform was smaller than in that game, the fight was harder, and Mario fell into the pit that was under the platform just as Bowser was defeated.
* KnightTemplar: Parodied during Vinny's final ''Ocarina of Time 3D'' stream when he commented on a request from Music/RingoStarr for people to stop sending him fan mail, which was uploaded several years before the stream, with Vinny saying Ringo sounded like he was threatening his fans with [[CatchPhrase peace and love]].
* LamePunReaction:
** Vinny came up with a drinking game that involved taking a shot for every sea creature-related pun in ''VideoGame/Splatoon1''. After he came up with this idea, he added that he considered the game's usage of "squidnapped" to be worthy of finishing the whole bottle.
** Vinny joked that ''VideoGame/KirbyPlanetRobobot'' was punishing him when he took damage shortly after saying "Is this Wheelie happening?" while using the Wheel ability.
** When Vinny was fighting three Mad Ducks and a Noose Man in his fifth ''[=EarthBound=]'' stream, someone in the chat made a pun based on the enemies present and Vinny's response was "Duck, duck, noose? Really?"
* LanternJawOfJustice: Fred is known for having a particularly large chin. Vinny has mentioned it when talking about other streamers.
* LecherousLicking: Vinny's "Speed Luigi" Miiverse Sketch character (who ended up becoming a RunningGag) has a tendency to creepily lick whatever/whoever else is in the drawing.
* LetsGetDangerous: You wouldn't think ''Limes'', the one streamer that gets nervous during terror/suspense streams, would be the one who went on to curbstomp everyone else while playing ''VideoGame/TheHiddenSource'' during the Multiplayer Block of the Charity Marathon.
%%Which charity marathon was this? Just so the year can be added.
* LoopholeAbuse: An unwritten rule of the stream is, if it's been gifted, it must be streamed, no matter what. Wave giftings of games like ''VideoGame/BadRatsTheRatsRevenge'' and ''VisualNovel/MagicalDiary'' weren't unheard of. Eventually, "[[ObviousRulePatch unless it has been streamed recently]]" was tacked on.
* MadnessMantra:

** When Joel streamed ''Super Mario 7'' (actually a bootleg version of the game ''VideoGame/TheFlintstonesTheRescueOfDinoAndHoppy''), he couldn't stop screaming "grand dad" after seeing the title screen (which refers to the game as ''7 Grand Dad'').

** [[VideoGame/TheNeverhood Everybody]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8k3NM0U_AY Way Oh!]]
* MaliciousMisnaming:
** Joel claims Rev's full name (Colin Mullin) sounds like "colon muffin" on his ''Revnarok'' album.
** During Vinny's second ''Ocarina of Time 3D'' stream, he kept trying to get the Piece of Heart in the fenced-in area in Impa's house by gliding to the doorway using a Cucco, and once he finally got over there he referred to the carpenter on the wooden beam he was gliding from as "Jabroni-butt [=McFuckface=]" after he kept knocking Link off said wooden beam.
** Vinny isn't as familiar with the ''Mario'' [=RPGs=] as he is with the platformers, so when characters from ''VideoGame/MarioAndLuigiSuperstarSaga'' appeared in the 25th ''Super Mario Bros. X'' level ("Kuntz's Veil" by [=SlyAsACooper=]), he insulted Dragohoho by calling him "[[Music/FlightOfTheConchords Albie the Racist Dragon]]" during a segment taking place in the Beanbean Kingdom.
* ManOfAThousandVoices: Joel, Vinny, and Hootey are all known for their wide range of voices and impressions, mainly using them for humor.
* MascotWithAttitude: The first half of Joel's second "Sega Genesis Madness" was dedicated to these, with him playing ''VideoGame/{{Bubsy}}'', ''VideoGame/RadicalRex'', and ''VideoGame/RocketKnightAdventures''.
* MesACrowd:
** Seen at the end of [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtxhSQiduMk this]] ''VideoGame/SuperMarioKart'' corruption, when all of the racers turn into Mario.
** A few ''Mario Kart 8'' online multiplayer streams with Vinny, where everyone except/including him is playing as Link.
* MindScrew:
** Vinny's corruptions lend themselves to this due to messing with the games' internal logic with strange results. Even when he screwed with ''Super Mario 64'' using the more mundane method of [=GameShark=] codes, and the results were still strange. The presence of signs where they shouldn't be (including [[DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment in front of other signs]]) had him reacting to it in a similar manner to the "Sen" corruptions of ''A Link to the Past''.
** The entirety of ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-C7F-ZQS_8 Super Mario 64 Chaos Edition]]''. Highlights include Mario becoming a black hole, Mario speeding up and jumping super long, the music being changed to a cappella versions sung by Mario, and the return of ''the signs''. Later "Chaos Editions" of games that Vinny plays only up the ante.
** Played for laughs during Vinny's stream of ''Ocarina of Time 3D'', which features the Master Quest mode. Vinny saw that Jabu Jabu's belly is filled with cows, most of which are in the walls, followed by seeing that the cows act as switches to shoot with the slingshot, followed by saying he was losing his mind.
** Level #31 from Vinny's ''Super Mario Bros. X'' contest ("[=Pastaquest64=]" by [=Vulcan64=]) ends up having utterly nonsensical text and bizarre graphics, leading Vinny to wonder if its creator was on drugs. When a naked man with a flag saying "It's a boy" wedged between his butt cheeks flies by (which MakesJustAsMuchSenseInContext), Vinny loses it.
** Vinny ends up being confused by level 60 from his ''Super Mario Bros. X'' contest ("Vinception" by EPM), which features a staticky background, random images placed throughout the level, doors that send Mario to seemingly random locations (including dead ends), and background music that combines clips of Joel losing it with Music/ModestMussorgsky's "The Hut on Fowl's Legs" (the result of which is called "The Hut Out Joel's Ass" by its creator).
** Mind screwing is the name of the game for ''VideoGame/BabaIsYou'', at least where Vinny's [[SelfDeprecatingHumor self-proclaimed stupidity]] is concerned, since the game revolves around changing the rules of the game with keywords that double as [[BlockPuzzle blocks]]. His confusion comes to a head when he [[https://youtu.be/eSR3XHZMqsg?t=4423 discovers the keyword "Level"]] and its power to change level markers on the world map into playable objects. The confusion gets multiplied tenfold when he [[https://youtu.be/eSR3XHZMqsg?t=5281 turns another level into a flag]], "beats" the world map, then ends up on a completely different world map.
---> '''Vinny:''' ''[after moving to the second world map]'' Uh... excuse me? Excuse me, ''what?''
* MisterSeahorse: Joel has been using a [[GameMod male pregnancy mod]] in ''VideoGame/TheSims3''. Combine this with his [[BodyHorror usual forte]] along with stuff like SiblingIncest and InterspeciesRomance and you have [[EldritchAbomination very interesting results]].
* MondegreenGag:
** Vinny misheard two [[SpeakingSimlish gibberish]] lines from the curator in ''VideoGame/ChibiRobo Photo Finder'' as "'Nuff wanks" and "I'm going to honk you." In Vinny's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_91AVIqO9s "Tea Bag Condom" video]] he says the former after he finally accepts a picture of the titular condom-wrapped teabag.
--->"Oh, well, this guy said, ''Nuff wanks.' So, 'nuff wanks. He was like, 'That's it, enough wanks. I want my condom back.'"
** Vinny thinks Kirby sounds like he says "ew!" when a level is completed in ''VideoGame/KirbyTripleDeluxe'' and thus sounds more disgusted than happy. When the same voice clip was used in ''[[VideoGame/KirbyPlanetRobobot Planet Robobot]]'' about two years later, Vinny reacted the same way.
** Vinny used mods to play ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoV'' as an elderly Korean man, who frequently swears in his native tongue. This didn't stop both Vinny and the viewers from hearing his single line as either "You know chaingun?" or "You know chain[[WebVideo/VinesauceTomodachiLife jahn]]?"
** Vinny initially misheard "imposters" as "pastas" in a DJ Khaled video Reg sent him during a ''Super Mario Bros. [=3Mix=]'' stream.
** Vinny thought his ''VideoGame/Splatoon1'' character sounded like she was saying "Frooby" during one stream, resulting in a semi-unintentional shout-out to Fred.
** Vinny misheard "Buzzy Beetle" as "pussy eater" when he selected the enemy in question while designing a level in ''VideoGame/SuperMarioMaker''. He had a bit of an OhCrap reaction when he considered the possibility of Nintendo getting the Full Sauce upload taken down due to this moment.[[note]]This happened around when Nintendo was continually issuing copyright strikes against videos of ''[[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Mario]]'' [[GameMod ROM hacks]], a factor that led to Southbird moving his ''VideoGame/SuperMarioBros3Mix'' development videos to a separate, non-Vinesauce-related channel and setting his highlight videos of Vinny's streams of it to private (though he eventually undid the latter after the copyright strikes appeared to have slowed down).[[/note]]
* MonsterClown: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLGS8wNLsYw One of Vinny's stories]] involved a comic called "The Book of Clowns" his cousin made when they were younger, which attempted to scare Vinny by depicting zombie-like clowns invading his hometown and turning people into clowns, with even the Statue of Liberty becoming a clown.
* MoodWhiplash:
** Vinny's ''Super Mario 64'' [=GameShark=] stream featured strangely placed signs and creepy, corrupted music, which freaked him out. The [=YouTube=] video ends with a humorous montage of the signs featuring the song "Signs" by Tesla.
** In Vinny's seventh stream of ''The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds'', he went from repeatedly insulting Lorule's Rupee Rush minigame and its owner to briefly becoming addicted to the minigame in question.
* MotorMouth: Rev in his "I don't know anything about [X]" videos, managing to squeeze quite a lot of information into a few minutes this way.
* MythologyGag:
** Joel has revisited the "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLll5X0uI4s Space Reaper]]" scene a number of times, such as while replaying ''VideoGame/{{Shadowgate}}'' [[AprilFoolsDay in its Swedish dub]], and in the Kickstarter remake.
** When Vinny corrupted NES games in 3D, he ended up encountering one of the unused dice games in ''VideoGame/SuperMarioBros3'', though its graphics were corrupted to the point where it was barely recognizable. Southbird, who shortened the stream, made a note of this, as [[https://tcrf.net/Super_Mario_Bros._3/Unfinished_bonus_games he had previously helped document]] the game's unused bonus games on The Cutting Room Floor after discovering them while disassembling the game in question.
** Vinny referenced his ''Kronos Trigger'' stream by joking that his fourth ''VideoGame/{{EarthBound|1994}}'' stream was actually of "[=KronosBound=]" and that the text was going to be obfuscated.
** When Vinny streamed ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaBreathOfTheWild'', the name of Hyrule's Akkala region reminded him of the name of Akala Island from ''VideoGame/PokemonSunAndMoon'', leading to references to his streams of ''Pokémon Moon'' (someone in the chat later pointed out that the names of the islands in ''Pokémon Sun and Moon'' are derived from [[BilingualBonus the Hawaiian words for colors]]).
** Upon encountering the ancient oven Cherry at the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab in ''Breath of the Wild'', Vinny commented on how its name is identical to that of an ''Animal Crossing'' character who's popular among viewers of the WebVideo/MayorVine streams, joking that the character in question followed him into the ''Zelda'' series.

* NightmareRetardant: InUniverse examples:
** Vinny comments on the ridiculously tiny face a Big Boo has in one of the levels in his ''VideoGame/SuperMarioBrosX'' contest (level #44, "Spooky Boardwalk" by Phoba).
** Invoked during the 2015 charity stream when Jen messed with ''VideoGame/SilentHill1'''s code, which resulted in characters sliding around instead of walking normally.
* NonIndicativeName: During the first stream of Vinny's randomized ''Super Mario World'' playthrough, after going through multiple oddly named levels (such as "Wounds of Clouds 3" and "Hype World 1") he ended up playing a level that simply borrowed the name of the Soda Lake level from the original game (though it wasn't in the same location)... and it wasn't actually Soda Lake. During the second stream, he encountered a "Yellow Switch Palace" that was actually green and a level that was called "Waluigi Land" despite Waluigi not being in the game.
* NoodleImplements: One corruption of ''Super Mario World'' resulted in Mario and Yoshi becoming two eggs, a hammer, and the head of a Chargin' Chuck. Part of this was accompanied by what Vinny thought sounded like a circus remix of the "athletic" level theme.
* NoodleIncident:
** During the ''VideoGame/SuperMarioGalaxy Repainted'' stream, Vinny shows a graph showing search activity for "bee sex" on Google and sees that there was a huge spike during the stream[[labelnote:Context]]the hack used the remix "Fuck Bees" by [=YouTube=] user Happening.tv in the Honeyhive Galaxy[[/labelnote]], followed by commenting on how there were several smaller spikes prior to the stream, leading Vinny to find said smaller spikes' existence questionable.
** After Vinny played ''The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild'' after its first DLC pack was released, he turned on the Hero's Path mode of the map and was baffled by what was shown in certain locations, as he had gone without playing the game long enough to have forgotten a lot of what he did in the game, with a lot of his gameplay being done completely offscreen and thus not archived on The Full Sauce channel. In particular, he often wondered why he moved in certain patterns in certain locations and was confused when some portions of the path were completely disconnected from the rest.
* NothingIsScarier: ''[[VideoGame/CaveStory Cave No Story]]'' has [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xE0YbX96oto nothing]]. It gets scarier when the first music track that kicks in when Vinny gets the Weapon is "Quiet", the Abandoned Mimiga Village theme. Humorously, Vinny's only reaction is mounting annoyance that nothing is happening.
* NotMakingThisUpDisclaimer:
** Vinny showed multiple pieces of corruption art after his 13th ''Ocarina of Time 3D'' stream (he had previously skipped the art from the corruption stream in question) and assured viewers that a ''[[VideoGame/PokemonRubyAndSapphire Pokémon Emerald]]'' corruption actually did result in Brendan being upside-down while riding a bicycle that ''wasn't'' upside-down.
** Imakuni assures viewers that the numerous glitches from her first attempt to stream ''Ocarina of Time'' are completely unintentional and not the result of the game being corrupted.
** Vinny assured viewers that [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLGS8wNLsYw his story]] of two odd clowns he saw when he went out to eat with friends in March 2016 was as weird as he said it was, even showing footage of the incident in question.
* NukeEm: Joel's goal for his first playthrough of ''VideoGame/ShadowPresident'' was to nuke anyone and everyone he could, starting with Norway. [[VideoGameCrueltyPunishment It was a very short playthrough]].
* NutritionalNightmare: After Vinny started one of his many food-related discussions during a stream of ''Kirby: Planet Robobot'', the subject of the [=McRib=] came up and Vinny ended up joking about UsefulNotes/McDonalds making a burger containing various random and/or disgusting ingredients.
* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome:
** The fact that Vinny streamed ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime 3D''[='=]s Master Quest mode combined with the fact that those streams were his first time streaming any version of ''Ocarina of Time'' (though it was only ''his'' first time streaming it; it had previously been streamed by others) indicates that he played the game's standard mode offscreen, as finishing it is required to unlock Master Quest.
** Vinny played some of ''The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild'' offscreen and did the Thyphlo Ruins Shrine Quest offscreen, not anticipating that it would be as eventful as it was; he had to fight a Hinox to unlock the shrine and a Blood Moon rose while he was there, with the latter event having screenshots shown during a stream.
* OhCrap:
** Joel accidentally opens a portal [[https://youtu.be/ZLll5X0uI4s into deep space]] and meets the Space Reaper.
** Joel loathes Arch-Viles in the ''Franchise/{{Doom}}'' games thanks to their BossInMookClothing nature, being able to set Doomguy on fire from afar and revive slain enemies. Accordingly, not only does he regularly freak out whenever they show up during the ''Doom'' Mapping Contest, but he also reacts with dread when he spots one in the trailer for ''VideoGame/DoomEternal''.
** Vinny, streaming ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaALinkToThePast A Link To The Past]]'', absentmindedly claimed that he would give the stream to Turtls if he couldn't beat the final dungeon in under 20 minutes. * OneDegreeOfSeparation: Vinny played ''VideoGame/SuperMarioBros3Mix'' after seeing Creator/MikeMatei's video on it. The fact that it was made by a Vinesauce fan is a coincidence. A coincidence that landed Captain Southbird an editing job.
* OneHitKill: One ''Super Mario World'' corruption produced a gray block that killed Mario instantly.
--> '''Vinny:''' What killed me? ...Ah, the gray block. That son of a bitch.
* OurProductSucks: The Vineteam tend to use "quality" to sarcastically describe stuff that's anything but. This extends to themselves, with Vinesauce's slogan being "A Quality Stream."
* OverlyLongGag: The 13th level from the 2015 ''Super Mario Bros. X'' contest ("[=Frustr8TOR's=] Entry" by [=Frustr8TOR=]) started with a ''Super Mario World''-style world map mostly consisting to a long path to the actual level. It left Vinny {{corpsing}} and his laughter gradually got harder by the time Mario reached the level itself (which was titled "A long way from home").
* OverlyNarrowSuperlative: Vinny commented during a stream of ''[[VideoGame/PokemonSunAndMoon Pokémon Moon]]'' that he's always been fascinated by the moon and enjoys looking at it, but then adds that staring at the sun (referencing ''Pokémon Sun'') isn't exactly a good idea.
-->'''Vinny:''' "The moon has always been something I've been fascinated by. I like to look at the moon. You can't look at the sun, really. I mean, I guess you could, but then you won't look at anything else, ever."
* OverusedRunningGag: After Vinny mentions Lakitoad (a cross between Lakitu and Toad that attacks with infernal noises) during a stream of ''Super Mario Bros. [=3Mix=]'', he ends up going through several pieces of art of the character. It gets to a point where he says "Do I need to explain further?" when showing one piece, though that didn't stop him from showing more Lakitoad art.
** Vinny has occasionally given a tired reaction to people asking/pushing him to do his "Speen" voice.
* PacManFever:

* PanelShow: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TxS_9DiDnk Too Many Games 2016]]. The convention holders wanted it to be just about Vinny, but he didn't want to do it alone as the other streamers are important to the stream and to him as well.
* PaperThinDisguise: In Vinny's 2015 ''Super Mario Bros. X'' contest, Mario encountered a character who went by "Cup Drinker" (a reference to Vinny's "Drinking Out of Cups" song). Even before he said that wasn't his real name, "Cup Drinker" made no effort to hide the fact that he's actually Kappa, as in the Twitch emoticon.
* ParanoiaFuel: In-universe, after a mosquito landed on Vinny during the 2015 ''VideoGame/SuperMarioBrosX'' contest he commented that he became paranoid that any subsequent itchiness was caused by a mosquito, especially when the inside of his nose became itchy.
* PasteEater: Vinny once knew a kid in school who ate glue and expected that there would be a "[[VideoGame/SuperMario64 Super Mario 65]]". Vinny also mentioned that he thought there would be a "VideoGame/{{Paper|Mario}} Zelda".
* PerfectlyCromulentWord:
** During a stream of ''Majora's Mask 3D'', Vinny accidentally pronounces "remove" as "roove" and jokingly tries to justify his mispronunciation by saying that replacing "remove" with "roove" in the English language would save time when speaking. This was followed by him noting a chat comment saying that the time it took for him to justify his mispronunciation was significantly longer than the time saved by using the mispronunciation itself.
** A message in the 31st level of Vinny's ''Super Mario Bros. X'' contest ("[=Pastaquest64=]" by [=Vulcan64=]) instructs Mario to collect his "guff" and "fisculate" into the pipe. Vinny ends up seeing more {{word salad|Humor}} later in the level, which confuses him even more and leads to a [[BrokeTheRatingScale rating of "apple" on the contest's 1-10 scale]].
* PhraseCatcher: Vinny has a number of catchphrases, with "crust" (anything of low quality) and "japes" (trolling or being pranked) being the two most prominent. He also uses "piss" in lots of creative ways. But every once in a while, he'll come up with something that sticks around even long after the game he was streaming when he came up with it is over.
* PissTakeRap: Vinny did an [[StylisticSuck intentionally bad]] rap to the beat of the ''VideoGame/SuperMarioBros3'' underground theme during a stream of ''VideoGame/SuperMarioBros3Mix''.
* PlayerPunch:[[invoked]] Vinny gets hit with one in his playthrough of ''Good Night, Knight'' when he sees whether or not he could actually kill the dog in the beginning sequence. Not only does the game subvert his expectations and let his character slash through the dog, but [[{{Autosave}} it immediately saves afterward]] so that he couldn't undo his action without starting a new save file.
* ThePointsMeanNothing: Subverted during Vinny's 2015 ''Super Mario Bros. X'' contest. Despite jokingly saying he was subtracting large amounts of points during the contest and giving a couple of bizarre levels [[BrokeTheRatingScale nonsensical ratings]], he said during the end of the final stream that he was actually grading the levels on a scale from 1-10 and listed the levels that got a rating of at least 9/10, followed by listing the top three levels.
* ProphetEyes: Corruptions of ''VideoGame/SuperMario64'' often distort Mario's face on the title screen. Some of the corruptions in question remove his pupils and irises.
* PuttingThePeeInPool: When Vinny was streaming ''Super Mario Bros. [=3Mix=]'', he encountered a pool of yellow liquid that turned out to be harmless, though Vinny joked that it was actually urine and that Toad (his current player character and a frequent butt of his jokes) enjoyed that. This was followed by a comment that a younger cousin of Vinny's once said "pee pool" to him while the two were in a pool, which freaked him out once he found out why he was saying that.
* QuestForSex: Joel once told [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ws2s0eSWANg#t=233 a story]] about how his male childhood cat ran away from home. When he returned two years later, Joel and his family noticed that every female cat in the neighborhood was mysteriously pregnant, leading them to conclude that he ran off just so he could have as much sex as possible.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech:
** Vinny gives one directed towards Data Design Interactive when streaming [[https://youtu.be/VKvvVRbcOys?t=16m55s Rock 'n' Roll Adventures]].
** Vinny called out certain [[GameMod ROM hackers]] during [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZK3VKRmeH14 his third stream]] of ''VideoGame/SuperMarioBros3Mix'', saying that he liked that hack because its difficulty level was more akin to that of [[VideoGame/SuperMarioBros3 the original game]] and felt that hackers shouldn't assume that players must know every detail and advanced technique from a game just to enjoy a hack based on it (Vinny had previously stated that he isn't fond of NintendoHard ROM hacks when streaming ''[=3Mix=]'').
** Vinny called out people he called [[http://i3.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/001/039/725/5be.png "the worst kind of Vinesauce fan"]] after they got mad at him for not doing anything when Joel's channel was hijacked, even though there ''wasn't'' anything he could do other than continue streaming and wait for Google to sort everything out.
** When the streamers started using separate Twitch channels, it had the side effect of causing some people to feel the need to advertise when another streamer has gone online. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGzrb_n3n9k Joel would later call out people who do this.]]

** Vinny has come across misspelled Miiverse Sketch requests in ''Game & Wario''. For example, "GOMBA" and "YOSHL" prompted him to draw bastardized versions of a Goomba and Yoshi, respectively.
** During one of Joel's Windows 8 destruction streams, the Softonic software used a text-to-speech program to explain what the software does and the fact that the script misspelled "tutorials" as "tutorals" amused Joel.
* RunningGag: Vinesauce picks these up a lot. See [[RunningGag/{{Vinesauce}} the Running Gag page]] for examples.
* RunningGagged: After the [=BonziBUDDY=] jokes had run their course, Joel responds to a request to draw him in ''VideoGame/MarioPaint'' by writing "NOT FUNNY" instead of actually drawing a picture, followed by refusing to even try to see if the program runs on Windows 8 during his "Windows 8 Destruction" stream (in contrast to how he reluctantly downloaded it during his "Windows 7 Destruction" stream and it eventually worked when he tried running it as an administrator).
* SanitySlippage: While speedrunning ''VisualNovel/MajorMinor'', Rev goes from being sarcastically gung-ho about playing it to eventually begging for the game to end.
* TheScapegoat: When Joel's channel was hijacked in 2015, the hijacker tried to pin the blame on Bastrin (a [=YouTuber=] with a bone disease) by using pictures of him as well as using his name in videos' titles.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere:

[[SubvertedTrope However]], he regains his composure and reloads his save to properly [[spoiler:face off against the Arch-Vile]]. To his relief, it attacks the player with a less frustrating, yet more elaborate attack pattern.
* SceneryPorn: After Vinny's fourth stream of ''Ocarina of Time 3D'', Vinny commented on a particularly detailed piece of art depicting Kaepora Gaebora perched over Lake Hylia (as well as [[https://booru.vineshroom.net/post/view/11935search=ocarina_of_time a revised version of it]]), which led him to reminisce about when he once spent time in the Poconos in Pennsylvania in the summer, followed by describing a summer night by a lake that resembled the art he was showing.
* SchmuckBait:
** Multiple viewers told Vinny to use Bomb Arrows on Death Mountain in ''The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild''. As Vinny had already seen that regular arrows ignite when drawn on Death Mountain, he immediately deduced that Bomb Arrows would explode in Link's face.
** There's the .exe files masquerading as music files or porn video files in Joel's "Destruction" streams. Seeing as he's intentionally trying to break his computer (actually a virtual machine) as much as possible, he knowingly goes for the bait.
* ScunthorpeProblem: Vinny discovered that ''VideoGame/MarioKart8''[='=]s filter ignores spaces when he tried unsuccessfully to set his tournament's greeting to "Getti'''n Ig'''y With It".
* SensoryAbuse:
** A lot of the music and noises on Vinny's corrupted runs are '''extremely loud'''. Made all the worse that they pop up at random with no warning. In addition, the same streams also produce visual effects that could cause problems for people with epilepsy. This one reached an epitome during the ''Toad Games'' stream (which had plenty of these all of its own), when an apparent impostor sent a romhack that began with [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEbQnvTqnwI&feature=youtu.be&t=869 a headphone-killing electronic screech]][[labelnote:WARNING]]Tone the volume all the way down[[/labelnote]] that made Vinny's own screaming ''barely'' audible, and startled several watchers out of their skin.
** During Corruption Stockpile 11, Vinny played a corrupted version of a ''VideoGame/MaddenNFL'' video game. The resulting corruption produced an ''insanely'' loud and distorted wall of crowd noise when he selected "Ask Madden," which startled Vinny. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADJPuluiGZM&t=802s See it here]][[labelnote:WARNING]]Tone the volume all the way down[[/labelnote]] Said corruption became unintentionally funny when [[spoiler:one of the football players made a shushing gesture, which caused the audio to turn back to normal.]]
** This is what makes [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=jHVc-BMy5IY#t=520 Joel's encounter]] with the ''WesternAnimation/AllDogsGoToHeaven'' DOS game so "memorable" -- [[spoiler:it plays an ''extremely'' loud (and badly clipped) version of "You Can't Keep a Good Dog Down" without warning, startling both Joel and the viewers]].
** During one of his streams of ''VideoGame/PlanetCoaster'', Joel at one point mumbles into the microphone with unusually distorted audio, "You're gonna upgrade your PC to stream shitty sharewares? Yes." At first, it appeared that this was a TakeThat at the people suggesting he upgrade his PC to play ''Planet Coaster''; however, Joel was confused when he saw the reactions of his viewers in the chat box, and upon listening to the audio himself, was just as surprised as they were.
* SequelDifficultyDrop: Discussed in-universe. Vinny mentioned the fact that ''The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess'' is one of the easier ''Zelda'' games when streaming the HD version, so he chose to play the HD version on Hero Mode right off the bat because it doesn't need to be unlocked (in contrast to how it was only possible for him to stream ''Ocarina of Time 3D''[='=]s Master Quest mode without streaming the standard mode because he had previously played the standard mode offscreen).
* SeriesMascot: The so-called "Vineshroom", a ''Franchise/SuperMarioBros'' 1-Up Mushroom with a V-shaped decal on it. Some streamers use edited versions of it as channel avatars; for example, Rev has one wearing a gas mask, Joel has a skeletal one with horns, and Jen has one wearing the ComicBook/HarleyQuinn-esque outfit she's generally associated with.
* [[invoked]] ShallowParody: [[StylisticSuck Deliberately so]] with Joel's ''VideoGame/GartenOfBanban'' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5PX0FM5JWk song]], which, despite the title, references several unrelated MascotHorror characters, and was made without any knowledge about ''Garten of Banban'' beyond the names mentioned in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdFXs1XuNjs this edited video]].
* ShockSite: Briefly discussed in Vinny's "Super Mario Maker 2 (PART 25)", where he mentions how VulgarHumor can still be [[RuleOfFunny funny in its own right]], but doesn't find shock sites or their [[{{Troll}} intended purpose]] funny anymore.
* ShoutOut: [[ShoutOut/{{Vinesauce}} Has its own page.]]
* SiblingIncest: One of the most common jokes on Vinesauce is that Mario and Luigi are in a gay/incestuous relationship. Joel actually made this happen in ''VideoGame/TheSims3''... with a [[MisterSeahorse male pregnancy]] mod installed.
* SignificantReferenceDate: As Joel [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jy2GTEoIiy4 reveals]], the last time he played ''VideoGame/TheSims1'' was on [[spoiler:[[UsefulNotes/TheWarOnTerror September 11, 2001]]]].
* SillySimian: In 2022, Joel started a segment called Monkey Mondays dedicated to ridiculous games about primates.
* SimpletonVoice: Vinny has given the Gorons from ''Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda'' a stupid-sounding voice in several of his streams of that series, primarily because he thought their rock-like composition makes it harder for them to talk.
* SinsOfOurFathers: Vinny, in his stream of ''Thief Simulator'', reads a comment in the chat room that claims to have had a father that was once a convicted burglar, who stated that "The 'Number One' rule of burglary is that you don't park your car directly in front of the house you're robbing". He reacts with this comment:
--> "Well, you know [[DisproportionateRetribution I'm gonna have to ban you for the sins of your father]], for one. And two, [[HypocriticalHumor that's really good advice]]."
* SirSwearsALot: Out of all the streamers, Joel probably can't make a stream without saying at least one swear, while Darren is frequently described as a foulmouthed potato for a reason.
* SitcomArchnemesis: Vinny is audibly disgusted whenever [[VideoGame/DragonQuestBuilders2 Britney]] [[TotallyRadical opens her mouth.]] [[EveryoneHasStandards He still can't bring himself to build her a crappy house,]] though it ''is'' a good distance away from the nearest settlement.
* SophisticatedAsHell: Vinny's ebooks Twitter bot (Vinebooks/@vinny_ebooks) has a tendency to tweet things that sound oddly sophisticated despite containing profanity.
-->'''Vinebooks:''' "[[https://twitter.com/vinny_ebooks/status/763789574199992320 Was awesome to meet up is a waning crescent moon, holy shit.]]"
-->'''Vinebooks:''' "[[https://twitter.com/vinny_ebooks/status/763427187554918401 I look outside and your first words are an exasperated "fuck this."]]"
%%* SoundtrackDissonance: Corruptions often keep playing the original games' cheerful music in the background while the world turns into chaos. Other times Vinny encounters intentional examples that still seem to take him off-guard, [[https://youtu.be/GLGL-ozwlrw?t=459 like a Mario fangame in which a city on fire is shown while the Apotos Day theme plays.]]
* SpiritualAntithesis: Vinny referred to ''VideoGame/Splatoon1'' as a "Reverse ''[[VideoGame/SuperMarioSunshine Mario Sunshine]]''" during his first stream of the ''Global Testfire'' demo. As noted on the TV Tropes page for the former game, this isn't an uncommon sentiment among fans.
* SpoofAesop: In one of Vinny's "The Adventures of Mario and Luigi" videos, Mario has a talk with Luigi about diversity and sums up what he says with "It takes all colors to make a rainbow! ''[beat]'' Except black. There's no black in a rainbow."
* SpringtimeForHitler:
** Joel's streams of attempting to follow Bob Ross's ''Series/TheJoyOfPainting'' using ''VideoGame/MarioPaint'' instead of a canvas. He started them promising that it's going to look "like ''shit''" only to grow an increasing combination of confusion and annoyance as his paintings turn out to be decent, in an "old DOS adventure game" way as he and most of the comments put it.
--->'''Joel:''' Huh, he did it again. He duped us again, he duped us again. God damn it, Bob. Wow, when I add the purple pause menu it fucking looks ''great''! Look! Fuck, holy fuck, dude! I did that? What the fuck, man?
** In Vinny's second ''[=WarioWare=] Gold'' stream, he gets bored of the level he's currently playing and starts trying to lose minigames so he can run out of lives and exit the game. This works at first, but once he gets down to one life, he starts winning the next couple minigames completely by accident.
* StealthPun: During Joel's 2019 Windows 98 Destruction stream, he's watching a video demo for a video editing software, when the video shows a circulating metal fan. Joel responds, "I'm a huge metal fan, too," by which he means an enthusiast of the HeavyMetal genre. While this detail would be obvious to any regular viewer of his content, because he delivers the pun so nonchalantly, and isn't generally known for subtlety or making puns, it could easily slide by more unattentive viewers.
* StraightManAndWiseGuy: Vinny's co-op playthrough of ''VideoGame/Sonic3AndKnuckles'' with Imakuni unintentionally turns into one because of the contrast between an experienced Sonic player and someone who has never played a Sonic game before. At one point, Imakuni ends up having a minute-long laughing fit over a situation Vinny has gotten himself into.
* StylisticSuck: Vinny apparently likes to stream fangames of very dubious quality for their comedy value, a trend that started with ''VideoGame/TheFantasticGame'' ([[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqxmLFdcWxU seen here]]), made by resident {{Cloudcuckoolander}} viewer Fantasticaneer. He ended up referring to that game and similar games as being of "the egglike genre" due to that specific game's abundance of eggs.
* SurrealHorror: Among other things, the stream of ''Active Worlds'' gets close to it. Vinny plays on an empty server and discovers another player, Hitomi Fujiko. Things go downhill after that [[spoiler:(namely, Hitomi [[YouBastard accusing Vinny of killing all of the other players]] and then calling him by name [[ParanoiaFuel when he hadn't mentioned it once]]).]]
* SympathyForTheDevil: In his ''Hollow Knight'' stream, Rev already says he feels bad about beating up the PatheticallyWeak Zote, but he feels even worse after he reads Zote's mind and discovers his hidden FreudianExcuse.
-->'''Rev:''' Um, I feel bad about this. Um... ''[he manages to hit Zote with the Dream Nail and reads the text]'' "I'll kill a thousand more...[[WellDoneSonGuy Will that be enough, father?]]" Aw, that's sad. [...] That's not funny, that's sad! Now I feel even worse!
* TakeThat:
** Vinny's "V-Dub" persona is a jab at stereotypical "gamers" (and, to a lesser extent, facecam streamers). Usually does copious references to Mountain Dew and Doritos, while praising every ''VideoGame/CallOfDuty'' game he plays.
** After the announcement of ''[[VideoGame/ConkersBadFurDay Young Conker]]'' in early 2016, Imakuni made an emote of the redesigned Conker's face. The name of the emote? "[[StealthInsult imaMistake]]".
** Joel has a few music-related ones. NuMetal is unsurprisingly mocked, especially Music/LimpBizkit. {{Vaporwave}} and {{nightcore}} (well, the stereotypical versions of them) have also become this, partially due to Joel's Windows 8 Destruction stream. One genre that particularly sets him off is freeform {{Jazz}}, which he [[https://youtu.be/28FhfA6TCCk?t=10495 spends several minutes ranting about during his Commodore 64 stream]].
** It pops up rarely, but it's rather obvious that [[https://youtu.be/TrixALKtbNk?t=2h36m18s Joel]] [[https://youtu.be/4vJNLhLeNkk?t=2h36m46s doesn't]] [[https://youtu.be/CHpwThdisgw?t=3m24s like]] [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic bronies]]. On his ''[[VideoGame/PokemonRedAndBlue Pokémon Blue]]'' playthrough, he calls the Pokémon Fan Club Chairman one, and [[https://youtu.be/vPFW2keNCAg?t=22s says he needs psychiatric evaluation]].
** Vinny makes a lot of casual jokes at the expense of ''Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog'' and various stereotypes about its characters and fanbase. Most of his ''Sonic'' videos involve parodies like ''VideoGame/SonicDreamsCollection'' and terrible fan games rather than the games themselves. He admits that he's been a bit too harsh on it in the past due to his Nintendo bias and personal preference, and that he actually likes the 2D games but is obligated to take shots from having been on the SNES side of the console wars as a child. In 2017 he finally streamed his first official Sonic game: ''VideoGame/Sonic3AndKnuckles'' with Imakuni.
*** Among the rest of the site, including even Ima and Southbird, the designated ''Sonic'' fans, expect people to mock the series' more recent games often, such as during Southbird's streams of ''VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2006''.
** Jabs are often taken at [=YouTube=] celebrities like LetsPlay/PewDiePie and WebVideo/{{Markiplier}}, such as [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNQAgr6WnKQ this video]], mocking the exaggerated stylings of LetsPlay/PewDiePie and his many imitators.
** Vinny is prone to taking jabs at DJ Khaled (who was subject to jabs during a stream of ''VideoGame/SuperMarioBros3Mix'' and a stream of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask 3D'') and other celebrities he perceives as egotistical, particularly {{Glam Rap}}pers.
** Vinny and Joel often mock Todd Howard during some of their streams, mostly in their ''VideoGame/TheElderScrollsVSkyrim'' and ''VideoGame/TheElderScrollsIVOblivion'' streams respectively and like blaming any glitch and mechanic oversight on him.
** ComicStrip/{{Garfield}}, due to what they believe to be his overstayed longevity, decline in quality, and ridiculous voice, among other things.
** Vinny sometimes takes shots at conspiracy theorists, most frequently Flat Earthers and people who genuinely believe that space is fake. Ironically, he's expressed interest in "tinfoil hat"-like subjects in the past on stream, such as [=UFOs=] and top-secret government projects like MKULTRA. In his playthrough of ''VideoGame/{{Area 51|FPS}}'', he [[https://youtu.be/4rLU9W4Zkf8?t=1292 blames his waning interest]] of TheGrays squarely on the - as he puts it - "wacko" side of the alien conspiracy "community", mostly because of everyone having conflicting information.
** For Joel, pretty much anything milder than ThrashMetal is prone to getting lambasted on his streams. Makes sense, as he plays in a DeathMetal band. He's particularly fond of making fun of NuMetal and AlternativeMetal and often calls music from these genres "skunga gunga music". He also sometimes slips into the role of a moody teenager who hates homework, the sort of person Joel assumes listens to these genres.
--->'''Joel:''' Unga bunga ga ga ga doodogaga '''[[Music/{{Disturbed}} SEECKNEEES]]'''
** ''VideoGame/{{Undertale}}'' is prone to these for the people on Vinesauce who haven't played it yet, which is unsurprising given how notorious its fanbase is. For Vinny in particular, it's to the point where he'll [[https://youtu.be/CzkGyf3ZRwE?t=1372 audibly groan in frustration]] if he so much as hears music from it. This is mostly because he's heard things about how nasty certain fans will get for not playing the game in a ''very'' specific way, not to mention his general disinterest in playing it.
** Vinny often takes potshots at anime. He doesn't specifically ''hate'' anime, but much of his exposure to anything anime-related was from {{Otaku}}-pandering weirdness during his Sunday streams, unfortunately coming to [[AllAnimeIsNaughtyTentacles conflate the two things]] over time. He also [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBSa993rPxU explains]] in his review of the film adaptation of ''Manga/{{Akira}}'' that his anime bias was like that of his bias against Creator/{{Sega}} in that he simply didn't know anyone that was really into the hobby when he was a teenager. At best, his friends weren't interested in anything more niche than ''Anime/DragonBallZ'', ''Anime/CowboyBebop'' and ''Anime/GhostInTheShell''.
* TheTapeKnewYouWouldSayThat:
** A [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdRs8YNk1pI corruption]] of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaI'' seemingly answers Vinny's rhetorical question at one point.
** In one of his ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime Ocarina of Time]]'' Randomizer streams, Vinny [[https://youtu.be/97eFNJdz5NE?t=872 finds]] a piece of a Heart Container that, when picked up, [[PowerupLetdown turns into a stick]]. [[FiveSecondForeshadowing A split second]] after he starts winding up to comment on how useless the stick is, he notices the text box calling the stick "Dead End".
* TemptingFate:
** While creating Miis using the Wii U's camera in one of his streams, Vinny repeatedly had problems getting Miis to look like whatever/whoever was in the picture being scanned and tried to experiment by scanning a picture of another Mii instead. As he scanned the Mii's picture, he said "This is foolproof, there's no way it can screw this up...." The end result looked ''nothing'' like the original Mii.
** Zig-zagged when Vinny speculated which of his sexually explicit Miiverse Sketch drawings would get him banned. He thought his drawing of Majora's Mask (which is covered with nipples) would get him banned, but what actually got him banned was a Shy Guy [[InnocentInnuendo holding a spear]], while the Majora's Mask drawing outlasted the Wii U.
** Limes making fun of a rhino's horn in ''Far Cry 4''. [[ForegoneConclusion It went as well as expected]]. Same can be said about Vinny, shouting "'''FUCK OFF'''" at a rhino, just because. In the same stream, she attempts to kill a caged tiger with a grenade... and freed it instead. [[spoiler:She manages to kill it anyway, with her bow and shotgun.]]
** Darren attempts to kill some soldiers in ''S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'' to get their gear easily and sell it to whoever lives. He then tries to set a gas can on fire and shoot it from a safe distance. To say the least, his second try earned him more distance.
** During Joel's ''VideoGame/PokemonVietnameseCrystal'' streams, someone in the chat mentioned how buggy the Pokémon Communication Center is after he got there, also noting that the tunnel under Goldenrod City has similar issues. Joel assumed everything was OK when he didn't encounter any problems in the Communication Center, but he was proven wrong when the game practically ''imploded'' when he got close to the other side of the tunnel.
** Joel tempts fate during his randomized ''Pokémon'' stream. He talks about how he has never liked Sandslash, and he almost immediately encounters them. He hopes that the trainers won't have Legendaries, and the first trainer he fights sends out ''Moltres''.
** After Zelda's face glitches in "Stream 0" of Imakuni's ''The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time'' streams, Imakuni begins to wonder if the incident inspired fan artists to draw disturbing renditions of what Zelda's face looked like.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: [[invoked]] This was Joel's opinion of ''VideoGame/PokemonSnakewood''; while he liked the ZombieApocalypse take on ''VideoGame/PokemonRubyAndSapphire'', he felt that it was too unfocused for him to really enjoy.
* ThinkOfTheChildren: The few stretches of time where Vinny isn't spewing {{Angrish}} at [[AdvertOverloadedFuture all of the ads]] in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dp0hvYQvrNc&list=PLlc94szfcNDFl0yBP6TXEMqXRa7rJkaNG&index=2 part 2 of Quality Android Games]] is otherwise spent pitying the generation of kids who think gaming is comprised of the trash he's currently playing.
* ThirdPersonPerson: During Vinny's second ''Ocarina of Time 3D'' stream he commented on how he liked [=AriZona's=] Soda Shaq but thought the concept (cream soda made by a company that mostly makes tea and fruit drinks) sounded ridiculous, followed by a skit featuring Shaquille O'Neal speaking to a company spokesperson about the creation of the drink, which featured Shaq referring to himself in third person.
-->"Shaq want... blueberry cream soda."
* ToughActToFollow: In-universe, after Vinny encountered a level called "Pepperoni Secret" during his first randomized ''Super Mario World'' stream and found it highly amusing, he never found another level name he considered as good as that, though he did think the name "Waluigi Land" was amusing despite the level's contents [[NonIndicativeName having nothing to do with Waluigi]].
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Joel frequently plays up his love of Pepsi and Mug Root Beer on stream, to the point where he has emotes based around the soft drinks.
* TranquilFury: During a stream of ''VideoGame/{{Ys}} Origin'', playing as Hugo on the highest difficulty mode, Fred was quite visibly frustrated during a boss fight, despite rarely saying anything because he was focusing his attention on the game. Things got worse when the game crashed after defeating the final boss.
* TraumaCongaLine: Vinny's "Memories of Sponge" level in ''VideoGame/SuperMarioMaker'' involves a continual series of traumatic events for Sponge. The fact that the path to the goal is only open for a brief moment before the player has to go back to the entrance and repeat the level adds to the effect.
* {{Troll}}:
** Vinny trolls ''VideoGame/SecondLife'' players as Ralph Bluetawn, who happens to be [[AllTrollsAreDifferent a literal troll]].
** The vinny_ebooks account seems to [[https://twitter.com/vinny_ebooks/status/742412464143360000 enjoy angering people]].

* TrueArtIsIncomprehensible:

** [[https://twitter.com/Rev_Scarecrow/status/694993601919455232 Rev tweeted]] that he dreamed that his ''[=HotStart=]'' album became a huge success and drove people to tears, despite it consisting of slowed-down dishwasher noises.
* TuringTest: Vinny commented during a stream that his "Vinebooks" Twitter bot (AKA @vinny_ebooks) received a reply from Verizon after producing a tweet that randomly mentioned Verizon, leading to a conversation with the Verizon Twitter account. Someone in the chat commented that it passed the Turing Test due to this.
* TyopOnTheCover: Vinny ordered cards advertising Red Vox and either Autocorrect or the V and B keys being next to each other led to the cards giving "REDBOXBAND.COM" (which Vinny discovered to be occupied by a domain squatter) as the band's website.
-->"...But everyone, now, gets to go to redboxband.com. Got, uh, 200 of these bad boys. Yeah."
* VerbalTic: During Vinny's first stream of ''[[VideoGame/PokemonSunAndMoon Pokémon Moon]]'', many jokes were made about how Professor Kukui says "yeah" in large amounts of his dialogue, with Vinny usually reading it in a goofy way, such as either in his Sonic voice or in a voice that sounds like a hiccup.
* VideoGameCrueltyPotential: When Vinny [[https://youtu.be/wR3WRvuk1Ok?list=WL&t=427 shoots an innocent cat]] in ''VideoGame/Fallout4'' once, it's so cruel and mean-spirited for him to apologize. When he keeps shooting it right after apologizing, it's hilarious.
* ViewersAreMorons: In a rare moment where Joel takes a "game journalism" topic semi-seriously, he [[https://youtu.be/QQ_YXQ7E4qU?t=5764 outright says]] that the only reason why games like ''[[VideoGame/NBA2K NBA 2k20]]'' include gambling at all is because "people who buy these games are too stupid to criticize this gambling shit".
-->'''Joel:''' Like, they're gonna buy it and be like ''[with a fake lisp]'' "Oh cards! Sports! Basketball! Oh look the balls are-- [[AttentionDeficitOohShiny oh lookidat I can buy real moni!]]"
%%* VitriolicBestBuds: [[http://i.imgur.com/7GjD5.jpg Rev and Joel]], as well as Reg and anyone he interacts with (mostly Vinny, Jen, and Mike).
* VirtualYoutuber: As of 2023, half the team has either transitioned to Vtubing, or dabble in it on occasion with a professional rigged avatar (Limes, Rev, Imakuni, Dorb), which has led to jokes about Vinesauce becoming a Vtuber company.
** As a funny consequence, this has led to more collaborations with Vtubers from larger companies like WebVideo/VShojo or {{WebAnimation/Nijisanji}} that specifically already knew about Vinesauce beforehand.
* VoiceClipSong:
** Joel made a highlight video of one of Vinny's ''Animal Crossing: City Folk'' streams[[note]]Joel made some highlight videos of other streamers' streams earlier in the site's life[[/note]] and ended it with a clip of Vinny saying "Scoot" being repeated to the tune of Kakariko Village's theme from ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaALinkToThePast''.
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJJdXOuclmA The Hut Out Joel's Ass]]" combines Joel's hamminess with Music/ModestMussorgsky's "The Hut on Fowl's Legs" and acts as the BGM for level #60 ("Vinception" by EPM) from Vinny's 2015 ''VideoGame/SuperMarioBrosX'' contest.
* WeirdnessMagnet: [[invoked]] Streamers tend to stumble upon {{Game Breaking Bug}}s far more often than regular people do, deliberately or otherwise. For example, Vinny encounters a fairly serious physics bug in ''Super Mario Bros. [=3Mix=]'' that Southbird didn't know about until after seeing it in one of Vinny's streams, while Imakuni's first stream of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime'' features a number of glitches that either mess with the graphics or crash the game, with said stream being labeled "Stream 0" on Imakuni's full stream channel because she ends up abandoning her playthrough on that copy of the game. The corruption streams are another common source of weirdness, particularly due to how graphics and sound are affected.

* WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids: Invoked and why Rev plays weird and, at times, even horrifying Flash games.
* WordSaladHumor:
** Joel stops making coherent sentences by the end of his drunken ''VideoGame/DarkSouls'' run.
--->"Ass wanks are Indonesian vampires that bananas and... uh... tree trunks. Banana."
** Vinny's ''VideoGame/SuperMarioMaker'' levels sometimes have completely random names that have nothing to do with the contents of the levels, like "Lando Lakes" (which [[NonIndicativeName isn't a water level and has nothing to do with]] [[Franchise/StarWars Lando Calrissian]] or butter) and "Daddy-Longlegs" (which is simply a name he came up with by pointing to a book with his eyes closed). An exception is "Field of Koopers 3", which was inspired by the StylisticSuck-filled ''VideoGame/SuperMarioWorld'' hack ''VideoGame/ChaosCompleXX''.
** Corruptions tend to produce nonsensical text. From ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaI'' alone, we have "spay me for the dooret" and "it's fuckedous to go alone".
** Vinny sent himself a nonsensical email while very tired at 8 AM and shared it during his 21st stream of ''Majora's Mask 3D''. He attributes some of the odd wording to his use of speech-to-text input on his phone without doing any manual proofreading.
---> "Written by beloved folk treasure dumping the company, this one is called across your nose and up your twat, this old man got a baseball bat"
** Vinny was amused by the weird level names produced by the ''VideoGame/SuperMarioWorld'' Randomizer, such as "Larry's Tower" (which is actually Yoshi's House), "Wounds of Clouds 3" (which replaced Yoshi's Island's water level and wasn't preceded by a first or second "Wounds of Clouds" level), and the infamous "Pepperoni Secret" (which replaced the first castle).
** Vinny played a hack of ''VideoGame/ChronoTrigger'' called ''Kronos Trigger'', which obfuscates the text to produce nonsense by running the script through a machine translator multiple times, producing an intentional TranslationTrainWreck. To give a couple of examples, Marle's time travel accident at the beginning of the game apparently involved her going to a villa in Tuscany, while the town of Porre is the home of an inn called the Porn Inn. Other hacks in the same vein include ''Finally Fantastic VII'', which does this to ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII'', and ''Beast Intersection 16'', which does this to ''VideoGame/AnimalCrossingNewLeaf'' and was played by Southbird, whose similarly titled "Beast Intersection" video series ended up shifting from text obfuscation to inserting [=YouTube=] comments into the game's text.
* TheWorldIsJustAwesome:
** Vinny commented during his tenth ''Ocarina of Time 3D'' stream that overly cynical thinking can lead to misery, and that's it's important to continue going on after unpleasant events in one's life (such as the death of a relative), adding that the world itself is quite full of good despite the bad things that happen. He does poke fun at himself afterward because these comments sort of came out of nowhere, however.
** Parodied by Vinny during a stream of ''Breath of the Wild'' when he said it's hard to take people seriously when they say the world is completely good when bodily issues like bone spurs exist.
* YourHeadASplode: Joel's interpretation of what PSI Rockin (which he named PSI Metal in his playthrough) does to enemies in ''VideoGame/{{EarthBound|1994}}''.
* YourPrincessIsInAnotherCastle: Vinny is baffled when he defeats Bowser in World 1-4 of ''Super Boy'' (a bootleg version of ''VideoGame/SuperMarioBros1'' for the Platform/{{MSX}}) and the trope-naming scene with the freed Mushroom Retainer is replaced with the text "SORRY NOTHING" on a plain black background.
