''[[http://teamfourstar.com/series/dragonball-z-abridged/ Dragon Ball Z Abridged]]'' is an [[TheAbridgedSeries Abridged Series]] of ''Anime/DragonBallZ'' created by Creator/TeamFourStar, beginning production in 2008. The series quickly set itself apart from others of its kind for featuring a SuperGroup of Abridged Series [[AllStarCast content creators]], and is far and away one of the most popular on the internet.

Compared to most of its abridged brethren, ''DBZA'' is notable for having very character-driven, CallBack heavy humor, making a genuine effort at faithfully adapting ''Dragon Ball Z'''s plot, and containing almost no [[BreakingTheFourthWall fourth-wall breaking]]. (Well, [[EarlyInstallmentWeirdness after the first season, anyway.]]) That said, it does still have plenty of LampshadeHanging and in-jokes relating to the franchise as a whole, and some of the jokes in question are obscure enough that they would probably go over the head of even the most die-hard ''Dragon Ball'' fans. Essentially, ''Dragon Ball Z Abridged'' is what would happen if you put ''Dragon Ball Z'' and ''WesternAnimation/{{Archer}}'' in a blender.

The series is also notable for its voice acting, which some have compared favorably to the official dub. Notably, Creator/ChrisAyres praised Creator/LittleKuriboh's performance as Freeza, and several members of Team Four Star were hired to do voice work in the ''VideoGame/DragonBallXenoverse'' series.

The first two seasons, covering the Saiyan Saga and the Namek/Freeza Saga respectively, have been completed, along with several specials and a majority of the movies. The third season -- covering the Android/Cell Saga -- is nearly complete with a three-part finale in development. While a fourth season covering the Buu Saga has been in the planning stages for some time, [=KaiserNeko=] has also stated that the series ''may'' have to end at the Cell Saga due to unspecified changes in circumstances; fans have speculated that Creator/ToeiAnimation[='s=] [[ScrewedByTheLawyers copyright-strike happy]] nature towards their Creator/{{YouTube}} channel may have been a catalyst in this.

The series entered hiatus following the release of the penultimate episode to the third season due to a number of external factors, but Team Four Star have resumed development, and compensated fans with additional content elsewhere. Regardless of whether or not the sixtieth episode marks the end of the series, the creators have stated that there will likely be a break between the finale and a potential fourth season as Team Four Star expands to work on original projects.

The series has [[Recap/DragonBallZAbridged a recap page]], currently under construction. For a similar concept executed differently, see ''WebVideo/AlternateRealityDBZ''.

''This list includes tropes from videos of two ''Dragon Ball'' movies made with most of [=TeamFourStar's=] cast, but pre-dating [=TeamFourStar=], for convenience's sake.''
