->''"I'm Caddy, and I do long stupid videos where I run over my head and drown myself."''
-->-- '''Current Channel Description'''

Jim Lazarus Caddick, better known by the pen name "Caddicarus", is a British Platform/YouTube personality who hosts a VideoReviewShow that reviews just about anything video-game related you can think of, though he has a strong affinity towards video games from and related to the Platform/PlayStation era of gaming. While he originally uploaded in-depth reviews of single games on a usually weekly basis, he switched to his current format of longer videos covering several different games of a similar category in 2020, which are the videos he is best known for.

These videos are filled with absurdist humor with dashes of influence from the likes of Creator/MontyPython and ''Series/MrShow'', flabbergasted reactions and eventful hunts trying to acquire some of the bizarre games needed for the episode, outside shots in creepy costumes that make you question why his neighbors haven't called the cops and, of course, a demonic kite with fingers and shoes who spontaneously appears to give out sponsorship information. All of this is the packaging of what are quick-paced reviews covering games ranging from commonly known to so obscure they only work on specific cell phone models from 2004.

Historically, his channel had tons of random secondary shows and miscellaneous projects. The channel, at one point, offered six different shows. Caddicarus (the main reviews), Top 10 Lists (self-explanatory), Current Quickies ([[MotorMouth rapid-fire]] modern game reviews), Caddy's Retrospectives (Caddy's opinions on the first three games of a franchise), Tinker Time (whatever Caddy feels like reviewing at the time), and Drive Thru Review (quick, casual reviews under three minutes with very little editing). In 2013, he opened a second channel called Caddy's Conundrums (now Caddy Plays) where he uploads videos that wouldn't fit on his main channel. Drive Thru Review started on Caddy's Conundrums and has since been moved to the main channel, while Puppicarus started on the main channel and has since been moved to Caddy's Conundrums. In 2017, Caddicarus announced he would replace Current Quickies with a new show called Caddy. Similarly, in May 2017, his Film Fridays series (in hiatus for three months) became Cinemaggots.

On February 10th 2016, Caddy announced that he would be heavily retooling his channel, removing most of the other side shows he does, with every Saturday (originally Sunday) being a standard Caddicarus episode or Top Ten and every Wednesday being a random video under the name "Caddy". This is being done out of Caddy's own belief that he had begun to suffer AttentionDeficitCreatorDisorder and lost focus on his channel. This would be followed by his retool to his current content in 2020, putting his full focus on the lengthy episodes of Caddicarus alone.

He was also a charter member of the (now-defunct) Hidden Block collective of reviewers.[[note]]He was the last of the six members to stop featuring the Hidden Block intro bumpers in his videos.[[/note]]

He also suffered from a major ScheduleSlip for the first few months of 2021 due to technical difficulties with his new computer, though he has begun uploading regularly again in April. Similarly, he was unable to post any videos for the first few months of 2022 due to coming down with a major case of hives.

In August 2022, Caddy finally surpassed the 1 million subscriber milestone, much to the exultation of his fans. Caddy made a promise ages ago that he would make a retrospective of the ''Franchise/SpyroTheDragon'' trilogy as his one million subscriber special, which was initially promised as three videos covering each game in the trilogy. Just before Christmas 2022, he released the milestone video, covering ''every Spyro game ever made'' and featuring over 60 cameos of Caddy's Youtuber friends.

----
!! ''Caddicarus'' provides examples of the following tropes:

* AbortedArc: Before becoming a reviewer, one project Caddy attempted was "Randasong" which was to be a series where he would sing a song about any subject in whatever genre viewers suggested - said series lasted for only three songs.
* AbsurdBrandName: A gag in the episode where Caddy covers a series of game reviews from the 1990s that have been re-named to "Gaming in the Clinton Years" where he says the acronym, "GITCY", sounds like a "Russian fizzy drink".
--> '''Caddy:''' ''(speaking with a Russian accent)'' Gitcy: it's good for your spleen!
* AbusiveParents: PlayedForLaughs. Whenever his stepdaughter, Amy is involved in some of his skits, Caddy always torments the heck out of her for no apparent reason. In fact, a few of them ended up with Caddy killing her. Turnabout is fair play, though; she's killed him just as often.
* ActuallyPrettyFunny:
** In the ''WesternAnimation/PeppaPig'' review, proudly admits that a joke made him laugh (Peppa begging not to be splashed by her very large dad as he dives off a diving board, only for his landing to produce a single drop of water instead of a massive splash), appreciating the buildup and execution of it.
** After saying how boring he finds the ''WesternAnimation/SouthPark'' game, Caddy promtly kills a deer, whose death is animated as falling onto its back and spreading its legs to the side, which he admits was kind of funny.
** In his negative review of ''WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooAndTheCyberChase'', he admits to being charmed by Shaggy [[Main/LampshadeHanging lampshading]] how he and Scooby are always teamed up together [[Main/LetsSplitUpGang whenever the Mystery Inc gang split up]].
* AddedAlliterativeAppeal: "Legendary, Limitless, Luscious Lorne Lanning" in his ''VideoGame/{{Oddworld}}'' retrospective.
* AlienGeometries: He's quick to call bullshit on a 20th Century logo that's somehow also a Fox Interactive logo on the other side.
--> '''Caddy''': Everything I know about space and matter is being questioned right now, do you get this? I hope you do, because I sure don't, let me tell you.
* AllForNothing: Caddy's attempt to track down a knock-off ''Crash Bandicoot'' slot machine he was informed of by a friend resulted in this at the end of the ''Illegal World of Crash Bandicoot Bootlegs'' video. As he stated he drove 3 hours to the bar it was located at only to be told by one of the employees upon asking that the machine had been changed out long ago.
* AlliterativeList: Describes Lorne Lanning as "Legendary, Limitless, Luscious" in his ''VideoGame/{{Oddworld}}'' retrospective.
* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Invoked with the ''VideoGame/{{Ratatouille}}'' game. Based on the [[MadeOfExplodium weaponized peppers]], glass so tough that Emile flying at it at high speed doesn't even leave a crack, and [[EscapeSequence the shotgun]], Caddy assumes Mabel (The old lady Remy steals the cookbook from) is a black market weapons dealer.
* AnguishedDeclarationOfLove: [[spoiler:The Parrot from the ''Fade To Black'' review]] does this to Caddy in ''Bratz: The Splatty Ratz That Are Gnatz Covered in Shatz''.
* {{Anticlimax}}: After a whole video hyping it up, Caddy's pick for his number one thing that scared him as a kid was acknowledged as such:
--> '''Caddy''': Have any of you ever heard of [[spoiler: Net Yaroze]]?
--> ''(the word "ANTICLIMAX" appears on a black background accompanied by droning music)''
* ArchEnemy: Rascal Racers.
--> '''Caddy''': ''Damn you, Rascal Racers''!
** Later replaced by ''Coronation Street: The Mystery of the Missing Hotpot Recipe''
** After that was [[Creator/DingoPictures Phoenix Games]], as a result of ''Dalmatians 3'', which he says is worse than ''Coronation Street''. HilariousInHindsight due to it being revealed that ''Bratz: The Splatty Ratz That Are Gnatz Covered in Shatz'' was actually the one meant to be the true worst game ever made, but he found out about ''Dalmatians 3'', and topped ''Bratz'' as the worst game ever made before he could make a video on it.
** ''WesternAnimation/PeppaPig'' shares this role with Phoenix Games, with Caddy frequently going up against it in various media.
** A human arch-enemy to Caddy is Ian, aka [=BrutalMoose=] in "The Poo Race".
** Jordan, from Jordan Underneath, could also qualify.
* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking: During the introduction of his [[Platform/{{Kinect}} Kinect games]] review, he lists some events that happened in 2010, namely, the [=BP=] oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, an Irish boy wrongly accused of stealing €7,500 worth of bags of chips[[note]]namely what is referred to as "crisps" in British English, not French fries[[/note]], Creator/MelGibson leaving a voicemail filled with racial slurs, and Microsoft releasing the Kinect for the Xbox 360.
* ArtEvolution:
** Caddy's 2D avatar had undergone five different redesigns over the years, and it's pretty easy to tell how old a video is based on the design used in the thumbnail. The thumbnails themselves have also evolved from simple photoshops to 100% original artwork.
** The original intro for Bandicoot Month is 2D-animated, while the 2022 version is CGI, complete with models ripped straight out of ''VideoGame/CrashBandicoot4ItsAboutTime''.
* AsbestosFreeCereal: When he displays the site where you can download ''The Zoo Race'' and the "virus-free" awards proudly displayed on the page, he points out that the fact that your game is free of viruses shouldn't be a selling point.
* AssholeVictim: Olly in ''Totally Fanny''. Yeah, he was pretty much ''[[TooDumbToLive asking]]'' to be shot at that point.
--> '''Olly''': [[BullyingADragon Who's a little girly-girl?]] [[TooDumbToLive Caddy's a little girly-girl!]]\\
''(Caddy quickly [[KarmicDeath shoots him]] out of annoyance)''
* AteHisGun:
** At the start of ''3, 2, 1, Derp!'', when faced with the titular game [[http://youtu.be/hDSq-A9cr4A?t=2m7s he tries this]]. But then he [[EpicFail chokes on the gun barrel.]]
** He also does this [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6nsVL_Rl7w&t=17m52s at the end]] of his Top 10 Games That I Don't Like But Everyone Else Does list, since he decides he's probably going to get crucified for his picks anyway.
-->'''Caddy''': I might as well just fucking get it over with- (SmashCut to closing jingle)
* AudienceAlienatingPremise: [[invoked]] This is [[DiscussedTrope pointed out]] in his review of a game based on ''WesternAnimation/{{George of the Jungle|2007}}'': [[TheProblemWithLicensedGames a poorly-coded licensed game]], based on a relatively obscure and unprofitable flash cartoon that couldn't keep [[TheOtherDarrin the same voice actor for George for both seasons]] and was released for the Platform/PlayStation2 at a time when the Platform/PlayStation3 was already out for a year and a half. The game never would have sold no matter how good it might have been.
* BackFromTheDead: [[spoiler: Scarfulhu]] gets revived by Caddy just in time to play ''V.I.P.'' with him.
* BaitAndSwitchComment: In "The Painful World of LEGO Games," Caddy has this to say about a ''Bionicle'' game after being less than impressed with the game at first.
-->'''Caddy''': And at the risk of further infuriating ''Bionicle'' fans out there, after this part of the game, it gets ''way''... ...better.
* BerserkButton: He seems to go through phases of what presses it and how.
** Rascal Racers caused him to have a fit every time it was brought up.
** ''Series/CoronationStreet: The Mystery of the Missing Hotpot Recipe'', which causes mild anger and resentment.
** The idea of reviewing the Coronation Street game had Caddy sitting in his garden ranting about the game, while smearing his face with whipped cream.
** When he showed a scene from ''Film/{{Casper}}: A Spirited Beginning'' because it had an advert for ''Croc: Legend of the Gobbos'', it made him at least ''really'' annoyed.
** ''Dalmatians 3'' takes it ''even further'' with him saying it's not even on the same level of badness as any of the previous games he's slaughtered, including the previously mentioned ''Rascal Racers'' and ''Coronation Street''.
** Any game with broken controls or poor draw distance.
** Lately, it appears to be [[invoked]]{{Obvious Beta}}s, as addressed in the Tony Hawk glitch countdown and ''VideoGame/SpyroEnterTheDragonfly''.
** He also ''hates'' children's media that is of poor quality, and he doesn't take too kindly to people telling him his opinions are invalid as he's not in the target audience. He's even showed some examples to his own kids, and their negative reactions turn out to prove his point that kids aren't stupid. One kid's show he particularly loathes is WesternAnimation/PeppaPig, especially for its [[NarratingTheObvious redundant narration]], simplistic artstyle, questionable morals and the lack of manners among the main characters.
** Acknowledging Caddy's pre-2020 videos in any way. This goes double if it's to defend them, or to say they aren't as bad as he makes them out to be. Caddy considers the videos an OldShame, saying that they're nowhere near as good as the defenders say they are.[[invoked]]
** For his streams specifically, if donating through Superchats, donations or whatnot, do ''not'' apologise for not giving more or say "This is all I can afford" or anything like that. It sets him off every time and he will lecture you on how he's grateful to get any donations at all and you shouldn't feel obligated to give him your money.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: Caddy's girlfriend tells him that she can't wait any longer for Caddy to review Spyro, and demands a video about it. He complies. Too bad it's ''VideoGame/SpyroEnterTheDragonfly''.
--> '''Cerys''': Yayyyyyyyyy(Caddy storms over to the camera, holding the game)-shiiiiiiit.
* BigShutUp:
** Caddy delivers one to [[Franchise/TheSmurfs Brainy]] when he gets annoyed with how Brainy narrates everything you do in the menus in ''3, 2, 1, Smurf''.
** Caddy delivers one to [[WesternAnimation/{{Rugrats}} Tommy]] in "Totally Fanny" after the game begins to irritate him more and more.
* BigWhat: Yells one ''in the middle of a field'' during "Classic Nursery Rhymes on VHS (Part 2)", after the Oranges and Lemons scene.
** Also yelled one out of his window when he looks for another game to look at online in "The Horrifying World of [=PSOne=] Games for Babies" and finds that "Blue's Clues: Blue's Big Musical" costs £350 on eBay.
* BilingualBonus: In the Rascal review, Caddy brings out a wine bottle that says "Faite avec amour par la Maison Secret de "Cyoar". En profiter, vous putain cooper". In English: "Made with love by the Secret House of Cyoar (A reference to his persona in the Current Quickies series). Enjoy it, [[MoodWhiplash you fucking whore.]]"
* BlackComedy: Exquisite ammounts! Becomes more salient on it as his reviews goes on.
* BlatantLies: When he gets caught reading the manual for ''Bratz: Rock Angelz'', rather than own up to it, he hastily claims he was "wanking".
--> '''Caddy''': [[LampshadeHanging Yeah, I'd say I got away with that one.]]
* BodyHorror: His evil twin brother Baddy, introduced in the ''VideoGame/CrashTwinsanity'' review, has his head completely upside down, though it's obviously edited in post-production.
* BoobBasedGag: [[spoiler: Scarfulhu]] grows some boobs in the intro of the ''{{Series/VIP}}'' review, after mentioning Pamela Anderson.
* BookEnds:
** The ''VideoGame/SpyroEnterTheDragonfly'' review begins and ends with Caddy digging in his garden.
** The full video version of Season Three of The Caddicarus Show begins with ''Top 10 Games That I Like... But No-One Else Does!'' and ends with ''Top 10 Games That I Don't Like... But Everyone Else Does!''
* BreadEggsBreadedEggs: {{Subverted|Trope}} during ''The Painful World Of Lego Games'' via LastSecondWordSwap.
--> '''Caddy''': Mario is a game... Lego is [[ShapedLikeItself Lego]]... (Text reading "Lego Game" comes on screen as Caddy talkes) Lego... Alligators.
* BreadEggsMilkSquick:
** Caddy says his childhood experiences with ''Crash Bandicoot'' were mainly "crying, screaming, kicking... [[AssShove shoving things up me bum..."]]
** One of the games he reviews in ''The Unholy World of Jesus Games'', ''VideoGame/TheYouTestament'', has loading screens that showcase spiritual quotes from prominent people like UsefulNotes/MahatmaGandhi, UsefulNotes/TheProphetMuhammad, Music/PharrellWilliams, Music/JayZ, Creator/BruceLee, Creator/OprahWinfrey, Music/JimiHendrix, [[Franchise/StarWars Obi-Wan Kenobi]], Music/TupacShakur, Music/KanyeWest, Music/{{Eminem}} and... '''UsefulNotes/OsamaBinLaden'''. That last one naturally causes Caddy to react in complete bewilderment.
* BreakoutCharacter:
** Puppicarus, a puppet modelled after Caddy's likeness, appeared in the ''BALLZ'' review, and proved popular enough to get his own spin-off, ''Do It With Puppicarus''.
** Spons. It started as just a joke where Caddy wore a sign with "Spons" written on it, then his face superimposed into the video, before conflating the character with the demonic sounding kite from his Pixar games video. Funnily enough, the first appearance of Kite Caddy did use the character to do the sponsor read. Spons in kite form became a mainstay for any time he needed to talk about a sponsorship, taking on the appearance of the weird kite from the Pixar games video. Spons's presence is now such a mainstay that he's literally ''contractually obligated'' to appear in every sponsored segment. Seriously, [[WordOfGod Caddy explained as much in his ''Making Of'' episode.]]
* BrokenAesop: Caddy often complains about children's media that uses loud and random sounds and imagery to entertain kids even though his humor is heavily reliant on loud and random sound effects and imagery.
* BrokeTheRatingScale: From ''3, 2, 1, Derp!'':
--> '''Caddy''': And [3, 2, 1, Smurf!] was also one of the only games ''in the world'' that Official UK Playstation Magazine gave a "'''FUCK OFF AND DIE'''" out of ten.[[note]]Actually, as shown on-screen, they gave it a 1/10[[/note]]
* TheBusCameBack: Jim's sister Rosie, a former DropInCharacter from his earlier videos, is one of the many guest creators to cameo in his ''Spyro the Dragon'' retrospective.
* CallBack: The ''VideoGame/SpyroEnterTheDragonfly'' review has two in the ending: Caddy demonically saying "That's how we do it in ''MY'' garden!" while [[spoiler: burying the game]], followed by a voice clip of [[spoiler: his girlfriend's daughters burying a disc]] from the ''Bratz: Rock Angels'' review.
** In his ''Bubsy 3D'' review, he uses the surprised WesternAnimation/ThomasAndFriends face from the ''Casper: A Spirited Beginning'' review.
** In ''The Horrible World of Kinect Games'', he reuses the "Lit's Git Fit with Caddickydick" quote from ''The Nightmare World of Dreamworks Games".
** In ''The Useless World of [=PS1=] Accessories'', he reuses the lemon spitting gag from ''The Unholy World of Jesus Games''. Not once but ''twice''.
** In a general sense, he'll reference previous videos when the ''X World Of Y'' series has him revisit games he reviewed before.
* CameoCluster: The long-awaited ''Franchise/SpyroTheDragon'' special features a multitude of cameos (68 in total) from folks across the internet, from previous collaborators like WebVideo/TheCompletionist, WebVideo/{{Brutalmoose}}, Creator/TomSka, and [=AntDude=], to new guest stars like WebVideo/{{Izzzyzzz}}, [[WebVideo/YourMovieSucksDotOrg Adum Johnston]], [[WebVideo/TheCosmonautVarietyHour Cosmonaut Marcus]], and WebVideo/LadyEmily.
* CaptionHumor: Many of his videos will feature him captioning a particularly important word or phrase, sometimes with added effects, intentional misspellings, or a FreezeFrameBonus.
* CarpetOfVirility
-->[On Mr. Domino] "But now that I'm a fully grown (and rather hairy) adult, I think it's about time I retried this forgotten gem for old time's sake, and give it a second chance."
* CatchPhrase
** At the start of every review up to season 10: "Greetings and salutations, my beautiful people, and welcome to the Caddicarus show, where I always have to do the dirty deed of deciding whether or not things[[note]]originally "video games", but amended as he began reviewing other forms of media too[[/note]] deserve to be slaughtered or salvaged!"
*** And at the end: "If it's your birthday while watching this video, then happy fricking birthday to you. And please remember to stay beautiful!" These both were retired after season 10 along with the announcement that he would no longer be slaughtering or salvaging the games he reviewed.
** "Jesus Christ on a bicycle!"
** "Cyoar!" in Current Quickies.
** During any "Caddy's Retrospective" at the end of any video he usually asks "Does (insert game here) hold up today?" while spinning the game's box into his hands displaying the front cover.
** In the same series, "Fun Fact: Did ya know?", said in a Scouse accent.
** At the start of every Tinker Time: "I've been having a tinker with (insert game here)...so can I PLEASE get an intro, '''NOW!'''"
** Spons has one with "HELLO! I'M SPONS!"
* CausticCritic: Averted. He'll quite readily point out a game's good points, refuses to attack a game just for a cheap laugh if he doesn't already know it's bad, and even reviews games he knows he likes. Gets a LampshadeHanging in his ''Jungle Book'' review where he "argues" with his (absent) viewers about being able to review things he finds fun sometimes.
* CensoredForComedy: In ''3, 2, 1, Derp!'', he has fun randomly bleeping out all the {{Smurfing}} to make the sentences sound dirty.
* ChekhovsGag: In the first part of the Max Payne review, Caddy tells the audience to remember that the developers are Finnish.
--> '''Caddy''': Also they were Finnish! Why was that important? Heh heh, you'll see later!
--> '''Caddy''': [[spoiler:But as far as the game looks as a whole, Remedy did have a lovely and extremely detailed ''Finnish'' to it. Haha, there was the important bit!]]
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: His review persona ''lives'' this to an incredibly comedic degree as he often features random cutaways, {{non sequitur}}s, [[LargeHam shouting]], mispronunciation of words, seemingly loony and zany references, and other wacky moments, usually delivered [[MotorMouth at a breakneck pace]].
* ClusterFBomb[=/=]ClusterBleepBomb: The first episode of ''Current Quickies''.
** Also, his interruption of the 50th episode's introduction to...vent about Bubsy 3D, complete with SoundEffectBleep.
--> '''Caddy''': Greetings and salutations my beautiful people, and welcome to the Caddicarus show where I always have to do the dirty deed of deciding -- '''I GIVE UP YOU FUCKING SHIT [[CountryMatters CUNT]] FUCK PIECE OF SHIT FLOATING IN A BIT OF COLD SOUP GARNISHED WITH EVEN MORE FUCKING SHIT FROM AN OLD OBESE MAN'S COCK!'''
** Caddy's reaction to encountering Satan in ''Jesus in The Matrix'' in ''The Unholy World of Jesus Games'', coupled with ineffective SoundEffectBleep
--> '''Caddy''': OH CHRIST! OH MY FUCKING JESUS MOTHER OF FUCKING MARY AND GOD'S FUCKING PANTS! GET ME OUT OF HERE RIGHT FUCKING NOW! HEEEE- E- E- E- E- ELP!
* CompositeCharacter: Spons used to be just Caddy with a name tag on his shirt. After he used a talking kite that appeared for a video on Pixar games to do the sponsorship on that video, the two characters were rolled together into the current Spons.
* CopiouslyCreditedCreator: Invoked in "I Spent $115 on the WORST [=PS4=] Games Ever", when he covers the Gilson B. Pontes trilogy of games and immediately introduces them by pointing out how many times said person credits himself. Highlights include Caddy adding credits for "Hair and Makeup", "Stinky Poo-Poo Wiping", and "Man Who Made My Sandwiches".
* CouchGag: His videos from 2019 onwards have two at the end: his social media plug (which uses a different tagline every episode) and Stan's Phrase of the Day (where he tells his dog a comment from a fan to see if he reacts to it).
* CountryMatters: Once knowing he's British, it becomes quite clear what he means when he calls [[WesternAnimation/{{Rugrats}} Angelica]] "a complete fanny of a person." But while the majority of his curse usage including the f-word goes uncensored, this particular swear is almost always bleeped out, and the only times he did say "cunt" uncensored were in "Santa Claus Saves The Earth", "Regarding... Punching The Pa-Pa-Pa-Paparazzi" and "Muppet Race-Mania" (Albeit it was Puppicarus who said it).
** An amusing {{Subversion}} happens in "The Awful World of Skateboarding Games":
-->'''Caddy (on [[Creator/LJNToys LJN's]] "Town and Country Surf Designs Pearl City Hawaii Wood and Water Rage"):''' Okay, this game is a massive C-word! And what's the word? Well, you know what they say: you can't say "country"... without [[LastSecondWordSwap "tree"]].
* {{Crossover}}: Taken to [[ExaggeratedTrope the extreme]] in "The Legendary World of Spyro Games," with a whopping '''''68''''' cameos.
* CurseCutShort: The repeated remarks in "Top 10 Things in Games That Scared Me as a Kid" about how something scared the Sh'''[[Series/BoSelecta MECKLES]]''' out of Caddy.
* CutenessProximity: Anytime he talks about ''VideoGame/YoshisWoollyWorld'', especially in his Drive-thru review of it.
* DamnedByFaintPraise: ''The Zoo Race'' does this to itself, with Caddy pointing out the games "awards" page that only says that the game isn't malware.
* DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment: His description of The Great Escape's gameplay.
--> '''Caddy:''' ''It's mostly just talking, waiting, {{fetch|Quest}}ing, [[SelfDemonstrating waiting]] and [[CaptainObvious repeating]] [[OverlyLongGag and]] [[RuleOfThree waiting]]''
* DesignatedHero: [[invoked]] {{Discussed|Trope}} in the segment covering ''VideoGame/LegoCityUndercover'' in his Franchise/{{LEGO}} games video, which Caddy describes as LEGO ''[[VideoGame/GrandTheftAuto GTA]]'', coming with a more kid-friendly version of VideoGameCrueltyPotential [=GTA=]-clones are known for, except you're playing as a cop, [[CowboyCop meaning you can basically get away with destroying stuff, car theft, reckless driving or pushing away pedestrians]], even worse still, you even get rewarded with LEGO pieces for doing such things; Caddy even suggests the villains you're supposed to capture did less damage to the city than you did.
* DoNotCallMePaul: He doesn't like his given name James, preferring to go by Jim instead. At the very beginning of 2022, [[https://twitter.com/Caddicarus/status/1477081386926358528 he even announced on Twitter]] that he was legally changing his name to "Jim Caddick". In the same tweet, he noted that the name James was "forced on [him] from a toxic family member", hence his reluctance to use it.
* DontExplainTheJoke:
** In ''Everything Can Stop Mr. Domino'':
--> '''Caddy''': So, Mr. Domino, let's see what ''effect'' you leave on me. (''{{beat}}'') Domino effect. (''beat'') It's a ''domino''—(''SmashCut'')
** In his look at ''Gaming in the Clinton Years'':
--> '''George Wood''': [''Buster Bros. Collection''] is...well, not worth busting your butt to get. Get it?
--> '''Caddy''': [[SarcasmMode No. I don't. Please explain.]]
--> '''George Wood''': Buster Brothers? Bust your butt?
--> '''Caddy''': Oooooh, thank you for that! [[BlatantLies I was really lost!]]
* DrivesLikeCrazy: Caddy drives by spinning his car. And not in the way you'd expect.
* DropInCharacter: Sometimes. Most often its his sister, Rosie. [[spoiler: Several people drop by for Caddy's 50th episode to convince him not to play ''Bubsy 3D''. [[{{Jerkass}} Except Rosie]].]]
* DrunkOnMilk: In "Rascal", Caddy gets drunk on a beverage labelled "Adult Juice" in comic sans.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness:
** The first two episodes (''Rascal Racers'' and ''Crash'm Bash'm'') were far lighter on the SensoryAbuse, and didn't have him deciding whether to slaughter or salvage the game.
** His opening CatchPhrase evolved a few times. ''Rascal Racers'' had "Greetings and salutations, my beautiful people, and I am Caddicarus!", while ''Crash'm Bash'm'' opened with a short skit and went straight to the review without a greeting. The line was tweaked a few times, with ''Fade to Black'', ''Lilo and Stitch'', and ''Totally Fanny'' all using different variations, and ''Lego Lego Racers Lego'' again going straight from opening skit to review. He finally settled on his usual opening in the ''Klonoa'' review.
** The SigningOffCatchPhrase didn't appear until ''Lilo and Stitch: Trouble in Phil Collins'', and wasn't used in ''Totally Fanny''. Finally, the "Subscribe" jingle was absent until ''My Top 10 Moments in Video Gaming I Couldn't Take Seriously!''
** The first five episodes also have a different logo sequence than the one used for most of the series' run. His name was said in a silly voice instead of sung, and the logo smacked into the fourth wall and broke it, instead of fading in with a fireworks effect (second logo) or spinning into place after a "channel changing" effect of two or three images related to the review (third logo).
** In Season 1, the way Caddy slaughtered (and to a lesser extent, salvaged) was done somewhat differently in each episode, whereas by Season 2, both of them (and the newly added "slauvage") had established animations, that were used throughout, barring special moments, usually when the game was too bad/good to deserve a simple slaughter/salvage.
** Spons, a kite who presents each video's sponsor starting in ''The Pitiful World of Pixar Games'', started off as a transition joke for the next game, did not have a name, and was originally speaking with a VoiceOfTheLegion. In all subsequent apparitions, he speaks with a normal voice, introduces himself as Spons, and is only present during the video's sponsor.
* ElmuhFuddSyndwome: Introduces his two-parter videos this way.
-->"PWEVIOUSWY ON THE CADDICAWUS SHOW..."
* EndOfAnEra: Invoked when he [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6jdg3x2m5M&t=1s announced]] he was cutting not only his catchphrases but also the slaughtering and salvaging review system, feeling the channel needed to evolve past that.
* EnforcedPlug: While Caddy has always been sponsoring ever since the good old days, it's not until Season 13 when he began using awkward segues into the sponsors midway through his videos (past seasons had him do his sponsors before the show proper). However, the sponsored segments are left out in the complete season collections and the Patreon versions of the videos. Starting in 2021, he added a new character that helps with the plugs, a sentient talking kite with small hands and tiny shoes named Spons. In his "making-of" video, Caddy even clarifies that it's written into any sponsor's contract that Spons will be the one doing the ad-plug, which the sponsor must agree to in order for the ad to go in. Caddy admits "that kite has more power than you can possibly imagine".
* EpicFail: His attempt at building a PC. Several parts came late or never shipped at all, he constantly had to take apart his PC and rebuild it because of minor tech issues, and even when he finally got it working, the computer started randomly crashing for no reason at all. As a final desperate attempt to fix the problem, he reformatted his hard drive; not only did this not fix the problem, but he lost eighteen hours of gameplay footage that he had recorded. By the end of the build, Caddy had no usable computers, half a script, and more than ten thousand American dollars worth of useless computer parts.
* EvenBetterSequel:[[invoked]] Caddy feels this way about a few different franchises:
** He feels that the [[VideoGame/Sly3HonorAmongThieves third]] ''VideoGame/SlyCooper'' game is the best, because it had better character interactions and tighter gameplay and writing than its predecessors.
** He also quite enjoys ''VideoGame/Uncharted2AmongThieves'', unable to find any real complaints with it.
** In "The Painful World of Franchise/{{LEGO}} Games", he reviews all three ''VideoGame/LEGOIsland'' games and finds the third one, ''Island Xtreme Stunts'', to be the best by far.
* EvilTwin: [[ParodiedTrope Parodies this trope]] in his review of ''VideoGame/CrashTwinsanity'', a game which not only has two main antagonists who literally call themselves "The Evil Twins", but also has a character named [[EvilDoppelganger Evil Crash]], after complaining about how stupid the concept of the latter one is, Caddy gets visited by his evil twin brother named [[PunnyName Baddy]], who has [[BodyHorror his head literally upside-down]]. He's also a rather pleasant individual, politely leaving when asked in the ''The Painful World of Lego Games'' after delivering Caddy the eponymous bricks. Additionally, he becomes somewhat of a recurring character ever since.
-->'''Caddy:''' Oh (madlibs reaction), it's my evil twin brother, Baddy!
* {{Expy}}: Caddy is basically the British equivalent to WebVideo/JonTron, due to the both being {{Cloudcuckoolander}}s, their style of {{non sequitur}}s, [[SurrealHumor surreal comedy,]] and the overall delivery. The fact that Caddy had admitted to being a huge [=JonTron=] fan and his first episode of his show was an "audition tape" to get into Jon's reviewing group [=NormalBoots=] should also say a lot.
* FaceHeelTurn: Puppicarus pulled one once his show was cancelled. [[IneffectualSympatheticVillain He's not very good at being bad though.]]
* FairForItsDay:[[invoked]] Caddy firmly believes that games released today should be judged by today's standards. He picks ''Superfrog HD'' and ''Putty Squad'' apart, both of them remakes of Amiga-era games, stating repeatedly that while they may have been considered good back then, gaming standards have evolved since then and the remakes don't deserve to sail through on nostalgia alone.
* {{Filler}}: In the video for the review of ''VideoGame/TheStanleyParable'', Caddy decided to give the game a score, without a proper review, so he wouldn't spoil it. The video's length is about 10 minutes with the review itself being only a minute, where as the rest of the video is a constant loop of a part of the games intro, because he didn't want to spoil anything. This caused the video to be the most disliked video of Caddy's.
* FollowTheBouncingBall: One of these comes up in the ''WesternAnimation/SouthPark'' review when he brings up the game's multitude of "~Veeeeery grumpy turkeys!~"
** Appears at the beginning of the ''Cheesy'' review, in a song about his friend Dazz giving him the game.
* ForWantOfANail: After spending over $10,000.00 on building and fixing a faulty computer, he eventually realises that he forgot to back-up his work (which was ''18 hours'' of gameplay and a script). So he was right back where he started and lost $10,000.00 building something that couldn't work.
* TheFourthWallWillNotProtectYou: Caddy slaughters the audience for requesting he play Bubsy 3D.
* FreakOut: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUmBtclqBfQ&t=13m40s Suffers one]] in part 3 of his ''VideoGame/MaxPayne'' Retrospective, where he's admiring Max's strength of character in shaving off all the hair on his head to signify a change in his life. Cut to Caddy's TraumaticHaircut within the same sentence.
-->"I'm an egg! I'm a fucking egg! *[[VoiceOfTheLegion Demonic]] [[TheScream Scream]]*\\
'''*[[WeAreExperiencingTechnicalDifficulties Cut to the show going off-air briefly]]*'''\\
[[foldercontrol]]

[[folder: [[Cluster F Bomb We'd love to fucking continue, but right now a fucking freak-out is currently in fucking progress. Fucking apologies for any fucking inconvenience caused, and we'll be fucking back fucking shortly ]]
. [[ThisIsForEmphasisBitch Fuck]].]]
* FreePrizeAtTheBottom: In ''Crash Bandicoot Merchandise'', he covers a couple of cereal box toys featuring Crash himself. He also laments that most cereals don't do this anymore.
-->'''Caddy:''' The toy was the tastiest bit! [Caddy eats a spoonful of cereal with a [[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Squirtle]] toy on top]
* FreezeFrameBonus: An upside-down paragraph of text appears in a joke in his ''Putty Squad'' video, in a book titled, "Mid-80s UK Game Developing Company Naming Theory", which reads:
-->''If you're on a desktop computer or watching this on a tv, you must look fucking ridiculous right now. And what was this all for? Nothing. Why would there be? I'm just about to explain what this silly theory is in my next spoken sentence, so why on Earth would I display it here as well? You've been had. And now I have your head upside down. Looking stupid. Yep. Sorry. There's NOTHING of any relevance here. You can unpause the video, now. Or you can take a break - your head must be very tired. Love youuuuuuuuuuuuu.''
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: Caddy becomes unamused whenever Spons the sponsoring kite shows up.
* GameBreakingBug: He finds a ''literal'' one with ''Dalmatians 3''; For some reason, the game made the Playstation 2's disk drive spin much faster than it usually does. Because of this, the disc got so hot that after he was done with the review, ''the [=PS2=] couldn't play it again.''
* GilliganCut: In "The Poo Race", when Ian claims to have stolen all of Caddy's possessions.
-->'''Caddy''': Oh, now that's just stupid. How could he have ''possibly''--\\
* cut to Caddy's old room, completely ransacked*\\
'''Caddy''': Well, shit.
* AGodAmI: Ian in "The Poo Race".
-->'''Ian''': ''I am GOD!''
* GratuitousFrench: The comic sans print on Caddy's bottle of "Adult Juice".
-->Faite avec amour par la
-->Maison Secret de 'Cyoar'
-->En profiter, vous putain cooper[[labelnote:translation]]Made with love by the Secret House of 'Cyoar'. Enjoy, you fucking cooper.[[/labelnote]]
* HaHaHaNo: In ''The Simpsons Skateboarding'', he laments the lack of any good music, and decides he could solve it by adding his own. Cue a Norwegian comedic song about recycling. His reaction is this trope.
* HollywoodHacking: Caddy hacking into {{WebVideo/Brutalmoose}}'s computer is shown as him typing random gibberish into a Windows command prompt.
* HongKongDub: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s32pkiZvuJE&t=5m55s Parodied]] in his video for ''Bratz: Rock Angels''.
* HypocriticalHumor: In his ''Bubsy 3D'' review, he expresses disgust when WebVideo/SomeCallMeJohnny admits to killing a man. This is coming from the same guy who frequently kills people on his own show, and at the end of the same video, he gives Rosie and [[TheFourthWallWillNotProtectYou the viewer]] the slaughter.
* IdiosyncraticEpisodeNaming: Beginning with Season 14, the videos have titles in the form of "The [adjective] World of [subject of the video]".
* InformedFlaw: He has an EvilTwin named Baddy, but from what we’re shown, the worst he does is acting mildly annoying and giving Caddy an innocent JumpScare by suddenly reappearing out of nowhere, coming off as a HarmlessVillain more than anything. Hell, he even [[PetTheDog gave him a Super Mario Lego set!]] This is likely intentional though, since Baddy is meant to parody the EvilTwin trope.
* IntentionalEngrishForFunny: He works a subtle one into his ''VideoGame/VibRibbon'' review. Upon stating that the game's music was made by the Japanese group Laugh and Peace, he briefly shows an obvious machine translation of their article on the Japanese-language Website/{{Wikipedia}}, which has such gems as "In this item, Music producer I am describes the unit."
* ImportantHaircut[=/=]TraumaticHaircut: In the ''Max Payne 3'' video.
* INeedAFreakingDrink: In "Rascal", Caddy decides to take swigs of [[DrunkOnMilk adult juice]] to cope with the atrocity that is ''Rascal'', even though he generally never drinks.
* InsultToRocks: He believes that trying to defend Dalmatians 3 by saying it's a kids game is more of an insult to said kids.
** In the ''Bubsy 3D'' review, WebVideo/{{Somecallmejohnny}} briefly appears to tell Caddy that ''[[spoiler: killing a man]]'' isn't nearly as bad as playing that game.
-->'''Somecallmejohnny''': [[spoiler:BUBSY 3D IS WORSE THAN MURDER!]]
* ItsEasySoItSucks:[[invoked]] Averted with the ''Rayman 2: The Great Escape'' review. Although he does point out that the game is incredibly easy, he praises the audiovisual aspects and finds it a welcome reprieve from the previous game, which he found [[ItsHardSoItSucks at the other end of the spectrum]]. However, he still gives the caveat that there are better ports of the game than the one he played.
* ItsHardSoItSucks: [[invoked]] Frequently zig-zagged, depending on how much Caddy is enjoying the game otherwise.
** Averted with ''No One Can Stop Mr. Domino!'' Although he pointed out a few moments of FakeDifficulty and admitted that he was unable to finish it, he also says that the game is very visually appealing and fun to play, and thus gives it the salvage.
** Caddy spends the first half of his review of ''VideoGame/{{Rayman}}'' praising the colorful levels and interesting gameplay mechanics. But as the game progresses, he finds that the levels get less interesting and much more difficult to the point of unfairness. As a result, he gives it the slauvage.
** Played straight with ''Tarzan''. While the overall review is somewhat mixed, pointing out a few good moments alongside some cheap difficulty and control issues, he settles on the slaughter after an extremely unfair boss battle that nearly insta-kills him.
** Discussed in his review of ''VideoGame/CrashBandicoot4ItsAboutTime''. He ''loves'' the main casual playthrough for its story, visuals, controls, and level design and thinks it's a great entry in his favorite series, but he declares it a complete nightmare in terms of 100% completion due to the stack of challenges in each stage being numerous, often intensely difficult, and frequently ruined by controls and mechanics that weren't tight enough, and thus requiring several playthroughs of each level for rewards that don't nearly feel good enough. Compared to previous ''Crash'' games, he points out the much higher amount of tasks and that higher ranks of challenges are required for a reward than previous games. His ultimate conclusion is that a small percentage of the game and total playtime is excellence, but questions then if the full game price is really justified when the total playtime of the game is 95% nightmare with unfulfilling rewards.
* JawDrop: When reacting to a clip from "Gaming in the Clinton Years" (already shown to have surreal, bizarre and offensive commentary) describing how while playing ''WWF Attitude'', George "had a lot of fun creating three fat black ladies fighting a skinny white turd", Caddy's jaw drops with a creaking sound effect.
* {{Jerkass}}: Not only is Caddy's review persona an [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} absolute wacko,]] but he can come off as cruel, at times careless, [[CuckooSnarker snarky,]] or even harsh in a rather comical way in some videos.
** JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Despite his review persona being a comical, zany and sometimes crackbrained wacko who can seem rude or abrasive in a jokey manner, there were plenty of videos such "Peppa Pig", "Yoshi's TEDIOUS World" (where Caddy's person shows affection for his dog Stan) as prime examples of showing hidden depths with revealing how nice Caddy's persona can be. Mainly because of [[OnlySaneMan the sanity]] overall.
* JesusTaboo: Averted '''''HARD''''' for his video on ''The Unholy World of Jesus Games,'' and not just because of the title. Everything Caddy does in that video is related to the theme of the video in some way or form.
* JokeAndReceive: Happens when Caddy is reviewing the Coronation Street game and he is instructed to find a rose - none of the roses in the vase register as an item, no matter how many times he clicks on them. He then jokes about how funny it would be if the picture of a rose was what he was supposed to find all along, clicks on it and... you can guess what happens next.
** In a more real life example, Caddy included a joke about how he was writing the script for a Stuart Little 2 (The Game) review during his Crash Team Racing video, assuming that nobody would care about that game. However, he got so many requests for it, he ended up making a review on it anyway.
** In his review for the Thomas the Tank Engine game, Caddy jokingly asks if the trains get sent to the scrapyard if they lose a race - he is then greeted with a picture of a train in that exact location.
--> '''Caddy:''' I was kidding!
* JumpScare: One of these occurs when Caddy reacts to ''VideoGame/{{Broken Sword II|TheSmokingMirror}}'''s [[NightmareFace box art]].
** Caddy himself tries to do this on Jordan Underneath during their review of ''Resident Evil 0''. [[NoSell It doesn't work]].
** Caddy pulls one in "Scooby-Doo and the Spindly Johnny", during an otherwise innocuous bit involving one scene's overuse of {{beat}}s.
** Downplayed in his video on Dreamworks games, when he gets a sense of NothingIsScarier from the opening cinematic of ''Over The Hedge: Hammy Goes Nuts''. He slowly lowers his DS and smiles at the camera, then after a long silent pause, he takes a breath and continues speaking.
* KarmicDeath: [[spoiler:After so many years torturing his guest stars, Caddy himself was killed by one]] in ''Resident Evil BILLY''.
** [[spoiler: Scarfulhu avenges his death in a previous episode by shooting Caddy in the head]] in the ''Series/{{VIP}}'' review.
* LargeHam: Caddy tends to be really loud and over the top for the [[RuleOfFunny sake of comedy]] and does this when warranted at the very least.
* LaterInstallmentWeirdness:
** Starting with Season 11, he has abandoned the "slaughter or salvage" gimmick entirely, along with his starting and ending catchphrases. He has also largely stopped making the video titles goofy puns on the names, and has focused more on modern games over late 90s-early noughties games.
** Season 14 shifted the focus away from singular video games to looking at a set of games connected by a single overall topic (i.e. Pixar games or games designed for extremely young audiences).
* LethalChef: His character [[PunnyName Sam Widge]] is a [[WhatTheHellIsThatAccent weirdly-accented]] insane chef who doesn't make any attempt to follow health and safety protocol (doesn't wash his hands, coughs into pans, etc) and makes "dishes" that aren't even made out of real food, such as a hand sandwich or a pizza disk that's just a CD with tomato sauce and grated cheese topping.
* LiteralMetaphor: In "The Illegal World of Crash Bandicoot Bootlegs", Caddy literally eats his words (as in, he eats a piece of paper with the words he typed on it).
* LoadsAndLoadsOfLoading: The video of ''Dalmatians 3'' not only pointed out the long loading times, but also the [[HellIsThatNoise incredibly loud whirring]] that the [=PS2=] makes while it loads. Both Caddy and Rosie thought the poor system would end up catching fire.
** ''Cheesy'' is shown to have long loading screens, which is made worst when Caddy makes a mistake leading to said loading screens appearing consecutively.
* LongList: Twice in ''The Ripoff World of Crash Bandicoot Merchandise'', where Caddy shows off a lot of the merchandise from the orange marsupial that he bought. Once at the beginning, which is for when you want to buy ''more'' merch, and another one at the end when he's going to America for the third time and this time want to bring everything he needs.
* LookslikeJesus: Throughout 2020 and 2021, Caddicarus continued to let his hair grow, and combined with his now bearded face, is often compared to Jesus. Invokes this deliberately as a gag in "The Unholy World of Jesus Games", where throughout the review he wears a white robe and a false beard to make him resemble Jesus even more.
* MakesJustAsMuchSenseInContext: Caddy says this about his compilation of quotes from ''Dalmatians 3'' near the end of the video:
--> '''Caddy''': Yep, I know - They'll be out of context. But even when they're in context, they make equal fucking sense.
** All of ''VideoGame/LSDDreamEmulator''. It gets to the point where he becomes openly frustrated about how the game makes absolutely no sense, and he just gives up.
* MajorInjuryUnderreaction: In his Irritating Stick review, he shoots himself with his slaughter gun to “slaughter the game from his memory”[[note]]This is because he had to emulate the game since [[NoExportForYou it wasn't released in PAL territories.]][[/note]]. Aside from a simple deadpan “Ow”, he barely reacts to this at all and carries on like nothing happened.
* MaliciousMisnaming: Whenever [[WesternAnimation/{{Rugrats}} Angelica]] appears in any of his videos, he'll almost invariably call her "Fanny" instead (which has a [[CountryMatters far ruder]] connotation in the UK than in the US), owing to his extreme dislike of her.
* MondegreenGag:
** In ''Dalmatians 3'', he mishears a line of dialogue as "swallow my bollocks".
** He has fun misinterpreting the Engrish lyrics to the songs in ''VideoGame/VibRibbon'', leading to things like "Sunny day, I wank my Wii / I wake up ass cheeks so fine day"
* MoodWhiplash: Occasionally:
** The ending to Fabuloso Sword II has [[spoiler:Caddy cause Scarfulhu's head to explode, followed by Caddy laughing maniacally as he pictures the destruction he could cause]]. Immediately after is the calm, normal "stay beautiful" ending. Lampshaded when Caddy glances around the room right as the video ends.
** In ''Rascal Racers''...
--> '''Caddy''': I mean, graphically I guess it looks alright- pffffffft...what is ''THAT''!? I picked the raccoon...not the ''boat'' with the smiley '''face''' drawn on it!
** This is discussed in the first part of the ''MORE Nursery Rhymes on VHS'' series, where he discusses the unusual sombreness and darkness of the Who Killed Cock Robin section, where the whole way through, Darren Day sounds like he's reading a eulogy... which is immediately followed up by Hey Diddle Diddle of all things. Caddy calls out how this doesn't work at all.
--> '''Caddy''': You can't '''DO THAT, MOVIE!!'''
* MotorMouth: Usually during his "Current Quickies" segments, for obvious reasons. Though ''VideoGame/AlienIsolation'' was frightening enough that it forced him to stop and catch his breath several times.
** Exaggerated in his Top 10 Games of 2014 video. Normally, his top 10 lists are part of his Caddicarus show, with a very informative focus and normal talk speed. This particular video is done in his Current Quickies format, so does an entire top 10 list in his rapid talk style.
** In the "Nursery Rhymes on VHS" video, he demonstrates that he can recite "This Is the House That Jack Built" at three times the speed of the original video.
* {{Narm}}:[[invoked]] Discussed InUniverse in his "Top Ten Moments In Gaming I Couldn't Take Seriously" video.
* NarmCharm:[[invoked]] ''Classic Nursery Rhymes'' gets the salvage for this reason. Although he gets quite a few laughs out of the [[NoBudget very cheap effects]], he also finds that the special was ambitious and sincere in its execution, lending it a timeless appeal in his eyes. This is driven home when he points out that his own children love it as well, and especially when he contrasts its rendition of "Tom, Tom, the Piper's Son" to a 2017 version he found on [=YouTube=] which has soulless CGI animation, banal unmemorable music, and {{bowdlerise}}d lyrics.
* NarratingTheObvious: He rips into ''WesternAnimation/PeppaPig'' for having this in spades, calling it insulting to kids.
** In the next episode, "The Simpsons Wrestling", Caddy finds that a narrator is doing just this to him; when he gets annoyed the narrator reveals that Caddy has caught the dreaded "Peppa-titis" from watching too many episodes of Peppa Pig.
* NegativeContinuity: Caddy repeatedly ends up maimed, mutilated, or dead in his videos, yet he's fine moments later. During the Disney Games video, Spons burst out of his chest, and Caddy was just fine when the segment was over. In another video, she shot his stepdaughter Amy to death, but she returned a few videos later and shot him in return. None of this has ever stuck.
* NightmareFace: His [[https://www.instagram.com/p/CJKek-ZB4YO/ superdeformed face]] from his [=PlayStation=] 5 review.
** On a similar note, in [[https://youtu.be/brq4waM3JUc?t=8611 the ending of "The Legendary World of Spyro Games"]] after making "Skylandars [[ItsPronouncedTroPAY Saus]]'''[[ItsPronouncedTroPAY ah]]'''[[ItsPronouncedTroPAY ge,]]" his face deforms, becoming overexposed and red with a wide grin and gaping eye holes. This is the work of [[WebAnimation/{{Xploshi}} Xploshi,]] who is known for making horror media, so it's not that surprising her cameo leans into this.
* NinjaPirateZombieRobot: In "Lego Lego Racers Lego", his character is "Lego Spaceman Super Future High Tech Lego Ancient Kung Fu Master Super Sonic Lego Ultra Beta V.01 Lego Pai Mei from ''Film/KillBill Vol. 2.''"
* NonIndicativeName: His pseudonym is a wordplay on his surname Caddick, and ''VideoGame/KidIcarus''. However, he never played any Kid Icarus game, let alone the original [=NES=] title, his channel is generally more focused around the [=PlayStation=] than on Creator/{{Nintendo}}, and he is a ''VideoGame/CrashBandicoot'' fan.
* NonIndicativeTitle: ''No One Can Stop Mr. Domino''. Caddy plays it and plays as the eponymous Mr. Domino believing that the game will be piss easy because of the title claiming no one can stop him.
--> "And..uhh..hmm...I think I'll go with Mr. Domino, purely because, well, the box says that "No One Can Stop Mr. Domino," so if I pick him I'll be unstoppable and he should make everything really fucking easy '''THE GAME LIED TO ME.''' Holy shit, I'm serious! No One Can Stop Mr. Domino? More like '''''EVERYTHING''''' Can Stop Mr. Domino! This game is a barrel of lies!"
* NonSequitur: He's quite good at them.
* NoodleIncident:
** In ''The Simpsons: Tony Hoax Skateboarding'', Caddy tries to pick up his [=PS2=], and fails, noting that he "glued it to the Xbox."
** Before playing Rascal (and after announcing that he'd 'better prepare'), he gives the following disclaimer:
-->"I'm a person who's never touched alcohol. Well, never touched alcohol since I was thirteen anyway."
** In the beginning of the ''V.I.P.'' review, Caddy investigates a noise, thinking that his girlfriend's daughters were playing with grenades. ''Again''.
** In "The Scary World of Viral [=YouTube=] Horror Games'', Caddy says that a game could be "viral" in the sense of it spreading everywhere and killing everyone, citing his copy of ''Madagascar'' on the [=GameCube=] that he filled with arsenic.
* NotMakingThisUpDisclaimer:
** Caddy has to put one on a collection of clips from ''Dalmatians 3'' that have no sound. "I didn't make this up. Seriously."
** Also pops up in the Tony Hawk glitch countdown. Apparently, the game really ''was'' moving that slow when [[spoiler: Nyjah Huston gets launched towards the ocean for no reason]], with no editing on Caddy's part.
** In the video about ''Series/GamingInTheClintonYears'', Caddy notes that what is ostensibly a review for ''Bloody Roar 2'' is actually a review of ''Marvel Super Heroes Vs Street Fighter'', with only a brief mention of the former in comparison to the latter. Caddy then says, "I'm sad that I lack the imagination to make this up."
** When the video on video game commercials has Spons show up, Caddy voices confusion given that he doesn't have a sponsor for the video. He then turns to the camera and clarifies that he's not joking; he really ''didn't'' have a sponsor at the time of filming.
* NotSoHarmlessVillain: PlayedForLaughs. Whenever Caddy's evil twin Baddy shows up, he only just [[TheGadfly annoys him]], but the second time he appears in ''The Useless World of [=PS1=] Accessories'', his head grows and swallows Caddy whole, who doesn't seem much bothered by it however.
* NukeEm: [[spoiler: WebVideo/{{Brutalmoose}} ends "The Spleenies" video by nuking Caddy's house ForTheEvulz.]]
* ObviousJudas: [[invoked]] In the review of ''VideoGame/LegoKnightsKingdom'', after seeing the ObviouslyEvil [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast Lord Vladek]]--who is [[RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver clad in red and black armor]] and ominously tells the main character that his skills will be needed in the days to come--be described as the king's most trusted knight, Caddy sarcastically expresses surprise when Vladek betrays the king.
* OnceMoreWithClarity: In the intro of the ''{{Series/VIP}}'' review, Scarfulhu uses the ending of "Fabuloso Sword II" to explain [[spoiler: how he [[SoulJar transferred his soul into Caddy's copy of the game]] seconds before [[YourHeadAsplode his head exploded]]]].
* OnlySaneMan: [[ZigZaggedTrope Zig-Zagged]] with Caddy's persona. While he is by no means a jokey, hysterically funny [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} loony]], he does show how intelligent & analytical he can be on his own (whether if Caddy scripted his persona to be rational or not).
* OverlyLongGag:
** According to "Fabuloso Sword 2", Scarfulhu has a ''really'' long phone number.
** Virtually the entirety of his ''VideoGame/TheStanleyParable'' Tinker Time video.
** From ''Spice World'': Really really really wanna zigazig ah!
* OverlyLongName: In "Rascal", Caddy quotes his name as "James Montgomery Winston Henry Charles Elizabeth Terrance Margaret Caddick".
* OverlyNarrowSuperlative: Mr. Domino.
-->'''Caddy''': He is also probably the cutest ''domino'' in video games... because he's the [[SmashCut only on-]]
* {{Padding}}: [[invoked]] He suspects that the slow movement speed in ''VideoGame/LegoKnightsKingdom'' was an attempt to artificially prolong the game.
-->'''Caddy''': Protip: if your game is only nine missions long, this is not how you make it longer.
* PercussiveMaintenance: In ''The Horrible World of Kinect Games'', Caddy resorts to pounding his Xbox 360 on his third attempt to get it to open the disc tray so that he may insert the Kinect demo disc that he got with his copy of ''Kinect Rush: A Disney Pixar Adventure''.
* PerfectlyCromulentWord: He insists on calling milk "miluk", to the point that it's a RunningGag (see below).
* PetTheDog: His evil twin, Baddy, returned in ''The Painful World of Franchise/{{LEGO}} games'' to deliver him a Super Mario Lego set.
* PluckyComicRelief: Caddy's persona because of being a hilarious {{Cloudcuckoolander}}.
** [[EvilTwin Baddie]] can count [[ZigZaggedTrope on many occasions]].
* {{Portmanteau}}: "Jim Caddick" + "''VideoGame/KidIcarus''" = "Caddicarus". Ironically, he mainly focuses on Playstation consoles and never played ''Kid Icarus'' itself.
* PretentiousPronunciation: In his "Top Ten Moments I Couldn't Take Seriously" video, he takes annoyance at hearing a guy in ''VideoGame/ThiefDeadlyShadows'' with a very fake British accent pronounce "Passage" as "PAR-sage" (Its actually more like "Pah-sage".)
-->''Caddy:'' Ah well, don't be [=ARngry=]. [=ARllow=] me to [=ARmply=] walk [=ARway=] and eat this [=ARttrARctive=] [=ARpple=].
* QuipToBlack: From the ''Rascal Racers'' review: "No multiplayer mode. Not even on the arcade mode?! What kind of racing game am I playing?! I'll tell you what kind…" (''puts on sunglasses'') "A bad one." '''''[[Series/CSIMiami YEEEEEEAAAAAHHHH!!!]]'''''
** He parodies this line with one of his own in his anniversary video.
* RapidFireComedy: There's barely a time where he goes one minute without sticking some sort of joke in.
* ARareSentence:
** "Two anthropomorphic dominoes" in ''No One Can Stop Mr. Domino''.
** In ''The Pitiful World of Pixar Games'', when he's shocked to not only find a legitimately great game, but ''which'' movie said game is based on...
--->'''Caddy''': Well done, ''WesternAnimation/Cars2''! Which is something I never thought I'd ever say!
** In ''The Demonic World of Disney [=PS1=] Games'', when he's talking about the weird, confusing camera angles from ''102 Dalmatians: Puppies To The Rescue'':
--->'''Caddy''': I couldn't handle it anymore when I got to Cruella De Vil pinball-- that's a sentence I never thought I'd say.
* RealLifeWritesThePlot: Most videos released during the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic revolve around Caddy being stuck inside due to the world "being turned to bricks", and thus finding ways to occupy his time whilst stuck indoors.
* RecycledINSPACE: His collaborative review with WebVideo/TheCompletionist on ''VideoGame/JawsUnleashed'' plays with a RunningGag over comparing the game to past titles, like ''VideoGame/ManHunt'' and ''VideoGame/PacMan'', "BUT WITH SHARKS!" (all while a guitar riff plays satirize how cool this is supposed to be).
** Gets a CallBack in his review of ''Bratz: Rock Angelz'':
--> '''Caddy''': So it's just like [=GTA=]. BUT WITH TWATZ!
* RefugeInAudacity: Caddy does plenty of audacious stuff as it is, but he takes it to an entire new level of absurdity in ''The Unholy World of Jesus Games,'' where he does the majority of the video '''''DRESSED AS JESUS!'''''
* RepetitiveAudioGlitch:
** Played with in ''Chicken Run'':
-->'''Caddy''': Ah yes, haven't seen this problem in a while. Yeah, these kind of things tend to happen when your [=PS1=] disc has a scratchscratchscratchscratchscratchscratchscratch—
-->(''[=dots appear in the middle of the screen as if the video is buffering=]'')\\
'''Caddy''': I got you, didn't I?
** ''The Tweenies: Game Time'' has "Bella's Fairytale-ale-ale-ale-ale-ale".
* ReversePsychology: How Caddy tricks [[WebVideo/{{Brutalmoose}} Ian]] into reviewing ''VideoGame/ZooRace'' with him. Ian's not happy about it.
* {{Retcon}}: After Jim dropped his formulaic style, with his catchphrases and review gimmicks, in favor of more broad and lengthy videos, he also went back and changed most of his old video titles to be more down-to-earth and to contain the actual name of the work he discussed, whereas before, the videos were usually named after the jokey version of the work titles he would come up with in the review and were more energetic in their phrasing.
* RoadTripEpisode: “The Illegal World of Crash Bandicoot Bootlegs” becomes one near the end, with Jim and Cerys driving three hours to a Manchester pub to find a (rather rare) Crash-ripoff slot machine called “Cash Bandiloot”. [[spoiler:Sadly, they arrive too late as the pub had already switched it out for another machine]].
* RougeAnglesOfSatin: The Email he received on ''The last episode ever...'' spelled the word "breasts" as "breats". He found this so hilarious that he turned it into a RunningGag on his channel.
* RuleOfCute: Part of the reason he likes ''VideoGame/{{Klonoa}}'' and ''VideoGame/VibRibbon'' so much.
* RuleOfFunny: The show frequently runs on this.
* RunningGag: Certain visual and audio cues used to emphasize his points come up repeatedly.
** The strange way he barks "What?!" at anything.
** Whenever Caddy 'slaughters' a game by shooting it, blood somehow spurts from the off-screen jewel case.
** "The Top Whatever Reasons This Intro Makes No Fucking Sense Whatsoever".
** In cross-over reviews on his channel, his intro plays as normal, then suddenly pauses with the other reviewer's logo popping up from the bottom as Caddy whispers "And, uh, [insert name here]."
** Also, the fact that [[TriggerHappy he shoots almost anyone]] that comes onto his show.
** [[TwoAndAHalfD TWOOOOOO POINT FIVE DEEEEEEEE!]] Originally a Running Gag from the Klonoa review, it leaked into two more Top Tens, where it got RunningGagged (presumably).
** Playing a funny/annoying soundbyte or clip multiple times before playing the last one louder with a strange effect on the footage.
** Sometimes, the reviews themselves get their own running gags...
** During the ''Jaws Unleashed'' review, he makes a habit of comparing the various gameplay mechanics to other games..."BUT WITH SHAAAHKS!"
** The ''Crash Bash'' review has the repeated joke of adding a suffix to both words of the title (Crash'm Bash'm, Crashy Bashy, and Crashley Bashley).
** In ''The Simpsons Skateboarding'', as a way of poking fun of the many shoddy attempts to appeal to the "hip" audience, he shows a picture of the cover with Creator/WillSmith's face plastered onto the logo playing the theme song of ''Series/TheFreshPrinceOfBelAir'', with Caddy saying "Make it more hip."
** A drawing of Jesus with a huge smile being shown whenever Caddy says "Jesus".
** During his Retrospective videos, anytime he tells us a "Fun Fact," he does so in a faux-Scouse accent, usually accompanied by an image of VideoGame/CrashBandicoot and the ''VideoGame/VibRibbon'' tutorial music.
** Caddy has a habit of starting his Retrospectives by rising up from the bottom of the screen and doing something completely random such as waving while Abe's "Hello." voice from ''[[VideoGame/{{Oddworld}} Abe's Oddysee]]'' plays, having a coughing fit, bellowing "[[VideoGame/{{Tekken}} FIGHT!"]], growling [[VideoGame/MetalGear "My god, its Metal Gear!"]] shouting "Brash Candicoot" and [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking holding up the wrong game.]]
** During his review of ''Evil Dead: Hail to the King'' on the [=PS1=]: "(points out a game mechanic full on taken from the ''Franchise/ResidentEvil'' games)...almost like ''Resident Evil.''"
** Teasing a ''Spyro the Dragon'' Retrospective.
** "Jade... I think?" in the ''Bratz: Rock Angelz'' review.
*** This also features a CallBack to the ''Jaws Unleashed'' review RunningGag, replacing the words "SHAAAHKS" with "TWATZ".
** "THIS IS [=PS4=]!" in the ''Putty Squad'' review. [[spoiler:Returns in the ''Tony Hawk'' glitch countdown. ''With a vengeance.'']]
** "Did I just say that out loud?" in Everything Can Stop Mr Domino.
** In the ''VideoGame/SlyCooper'' retrospective, he joked that the [[VideoGame/SlyCooperAndTheThieviusRaccoonus first game]] was renamed ''Sly Raccoon'' in Europe because "Cooper" is a very powerful curse word in European English. Since then, he's treated the word "Cooper" as if it were a curse word.
** The frequent use of the word "Shmickles" from ''Series/BoSelecta'' as an UnusualEuphemism in ''Top 10 Things in Games that Scared Me as a Kid''.
** The sound of churning gears being used to underscore a an infuriatingly annoying or disturbing moment.
** He does frequent {{Title Drop}}s in ''Blossom Blast Bastards'', each time [[{{Beat}} increasing the time]] between saying the last two words. Also, a clip of Caddy saying "That's how we do it in ''my'' garden!" pops up a few times. [[spoiler: He says it again at the end of the ''VideoGame/SpyroEnterTheDragonfly'' review, but in a more sinister manner.]]
** Whenever Caddy goes outside, he usually emits a different sound from ''[[VideoGame/{{Croc}} Croc: Legend of the Gobbos]]'' while leaping out the door.
** As of the ''R/C Scrub Copter'' video, Caddy's obsession with Milk. Or as he pronounces it, "miluk".
** Bad [=PlayStation=] games often tend to have the ''Santa Claus Saves the Earth'' overworld music playing in the background.
** Some episodes have a couple seconds devoted to the random name Caddy gave his save file for the game, often accompanied with him saying "obviously".
** Ever since ''The last episode ever...'', he uses the word "[[RougeAnglesOfSatin breats]]" to refer to absurdly large breasts.
** In some older episodes, he had a tendency to say this:
-->'''Caddy''': So make sure you put seatbelts/harnesses on your eyes... because I'm going to fucking plow them into the nearest tree.
** Referring to Rilla Roo from ''VideoGame/CrashBash'' as "Gorilla Monkey Anus Face."
** Picking the [[{{Gonk}} worst]] option in each category when CharacterCustomization is involved.
** Starting from 2019 onwards, at the start of his first video of the year, expect an annual skit of him... [[MakesJustAsMuchSenseInContext being half naked while wandering and screeching around like a maniac]].
** "Our hero, ladies and gentlemen!", in reaction to either an IdiotHero, or a DesignatedHero. [[invoked]]
** Water randomly pouring out of his mouth, usually accompanied by blubbering noises.
** References to "the policeman", usually accompanied by a stock image of a police officer.
** In his one-million subscriber special, ''The Legendary World of Spyro Games'', he managed to wrangle over 60 cameos of other popular [=YouTube=] gamers. They all unfold in the same fashion:
--->'''Caddy''': Isn't that right, [insert [=YouTube=] personality]?
--->'''[=YouTube=] Personality''': ''[startled while doing something not related to the video]'' ...what?
* RuleOfThree: In ''The Ripoff World of Crash Bandicoot Merchandise'', Caddy has to fly over to America three separate times (twice to get toys from American restaurants and again for a convention).
* SanitySlippage: The videos released during the COVID-19 pandemic see Caddy gradually GoMadFromTheIsolation, with an increasingly unkempt appearance and deranged hallucinations to boot. It eventually culminates in him [[MakesJustAsMuchSenseInContext getting married to a brick wall]].
* ScrewPolitenessImASenior: Angelica-- Er, [[RunningGag Fanny]]'s grandfather in ''Totally Fanny'':
--> '''Grandpa''': Sorry darling, I'm going to be brutally honest here: you look fucking hideous and I'm afraid I'm gonna have to give you a ''two'' out of ten for looking terrible and being a fanny of a granddaughter. ''Fuck you''! NOW WHERE IS MY POTATO SALAD?!
* SelfDeprecation: In ''The Pitiful World of Pixar Games'' Caddy complains about the low frame-rate of the ''Finding Nemo'' game by saying that the game's performance is worse than the last time he was in bed.
* SensoryAbuse: Pops up quite a bit, usually through extensive visual effects and suddenly increased volume.
* ShaggyDogStory:
** In ''I’m sorry.'', Caddy explained how he couldn't release a new video in early 2021 because he upgraded his home studio and built a new working PC, [[DisasterDominoes the latter of which led to an insane plethora of problems]]. His new equipment was faulty and spent literal weeks trying to fix all his issues. If that wasn't enough, his other computers in his home started to fail as well, meaning he couldn't progress on his work nor livestream. He was midway through the writing of his first review of 2021, which was already plagued with a buttload of technical issues, when he lost all gameplay footage of it due to formatting a hard drive, forcing him to scrap the video entirely and leaving it as an unfinished episode. On top of all that, his girlfriend's other PC started to die, which he also had to pay for because her kids need a laptop for long-distance school due to the UsefulNotes/COVID19Pandemic. In the end, Caddy had a PC that didn't work, half a script, and a ten-thousand American dollar-sized hole in his finances, which contributed to an insane amount of stress.
** In "The Illegal World of Crash Bandicoot Bootlegs", in order to seek out the whereabouts of ''Cash Bandiloot and The Temple of Treasure'' (a bootleg gambling machine), which he found out from a friend of his that saw at in a pub, Caddy and his friend ended spending hours in research to try and figure out which pub it was in and the city, leading them to find out it was on the outskirts of Manchester, which then leads to him calling the hotel that the friend was staying at the time to see if they still had it. After the hotel said yes, Caddy would then embark on a ''three hour'' drive to this pub in order to check the machine out. However, when he finally got there, it turns out that not only does the pub not have the machine at all, but according to the staff, because they change them out every six months, the pub hasn't had it in ages, making the whole endeavor a giant waste of time, much to Caddy's disappointment.
* ShoutOut:
** The beginning of "Lego Lego Racers Lego" takes heavy cues from ''WebAnimation/SaladFingers''.
** Using the 1980 Doctor Who theme in "Fabuloso Sword 2" as his car hurtles through space.
** In retrospectives, he plays the ''Vib-Ribbon'' tutorial music whenever he states a fun fact.
** A particularly unusual one in ''Santa Claus Saves the Earth''. In reaction to the terrible graphics, he uses a clip from a Creator/{{cs188}} YouTubePoop of Music/{{Nickelback}} that sentence-mixes the opening line of "Photograph" into "Look at this fuckin' shit!" This line comes up again in "Irritating Stick... Seriously".
*** Also in ''Santa Claus Saves the Earth'', he plays a theme from Final Fantasy 6 (16 bit) to deliver a harsh burn against the 32 bit midi music in the game by comparison.
** In "Rascal", during Caddy's TenMinuteRetirement, Caddy re-dubs himself [="MrCaddyPasta"=] as a reference to [[https://www.youtube.com/user/MrCreepyPasta MrCreepyPasta]].
** In "Destruction Derby Deux", when looking at the Wikipedia page, he mentions it being as large as Creator/TomCruise, or [[VideoGame/KatamariDamacy The Prince]], or "Something to do with video game midgets". While he says the last quote, an image of the titular character from the BBC game show ''Series/{{Raven}}'' appears.
** In his ''VideoGame/LSDDreamEmulator'' review he uses clips from ''WebVideo/MarbleHornets'' near the beginning (specifically from videos relating to ''totheark'').
*** Also in the beginning of this episode, he gives several fake introductions, all based off of intros used by other members of Hidden Block:
---->Hey, everybody, I'm WebVideo/PeanutButterGamer, and today-
---->Modern games, retro games, what's the difference? I'm here to review games-[[labelnote:*]]Balrog's Game Room[[/labelnote]]
---->[[{{VideoGame/Gauntlet}} I've not seen such bravery-]][[labelnote:*]]WebVideo/BrutalMoose[[/labelnote]]
---->Hey guys, what's up, it's Jimmy, and today-[[labelnote:*]]Jimmy Whetzel[[/labelnote]]
** The crossover review of ''Ballz 3D'' with Yungtown includes two ''WebVideo/JonTron'' references. First is a [[TakeThat light jab]] at Jon's infamously long breaks between videos with one of Luke's tweets at the start of the review being "I wonder if [=JonTron=] will have [=StarCade=] Episode 23 out by the time you watch my video," and then at the [[SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic rap near the end]] the lyric "...and then throw it against some walls" is accompanied by a small clip from Jon's ''Nightshade'' review.
** In his review of ''Irritating Stick'' he makes a surprise reference to WebAnimation/WTLNetwork:
-->'''Caddy:''' This is so unfair that even after countless retries and practice and after an admittedly flawless run, the game still demanded me to...
-->'''[[WesternAnimation/ThomasAndFriends Percy:]]''' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGLCI7F709s Hurry up FUCKface!]]
** In "The Legendary World of Spyro Games",
-->'''Caddy:''' [[{{Music/Gorillaz}} Gnorcs with guns, gnorcs with guns, easy does it, easy does it, I’m too small and I can’t reach that.]]
* ShowerOfAngst: In his video about [=PlayStation=] Magazines, an article about ''Crash Bandicoot'' cites that one of the objectives is to collect the [[CowboyBebopAtHisComputer apples]], causing him to do this while ranting about the fact that the fruits in question are actually called "Wumpa fruits" and more akin to mangos than apples.
** In his ''Banned Games'' video, he rounds out the video with this, bemoaning how people online complained about the ''{{VideoGame/Cuphead}}'' DLC featuring a female character.
---> '''Caddy'''(crying): Why does it matter? ''(beat)'' NOBODY WANTS TO FUCK A CUP!
* SigningOffCatchPhrase: For the first six years of his show, it was "If it's your birthday today when watching this video, then happy freaking birthday to you. And remember to stay beautiful!"
* SirSwearsALot: Caddy swears frequently in his videos, alongside using British slang words in his episode titles. This is heavily toned down come season 12, due to Youtube's increasingly strict monetization requirements, which also caused the slang-filled episode titles to be changed. This doesn't apply with any other website though.
* SkewedPriorities: In ''The Forbidden World of BANNED Games'', his reason for destroying his copy of ''The Guy Game'', more so than the game having underage nudity, is that its case spine doesn't fit with the rest of his [=PS2=] collection.
* SlowPacedBeginning:[[invoked]] Discussed in ''10 SH*T BEGINNINGS IN GAMES'', where he lists ten examples of games that he believes have this problem.
* SlutShaming: In ''the Insane World of Video Game Commercials'', Caddy angrily shoos out a [[Platform/GameBoyAdvance Game Boy Micro]] for its promiscuity after seeing an ad where one [[MakesJustAsMuchSenseInContext gets humped by a lab mouse]].
* SmashCut: Used and abused, usually to transition from a moment of eccentric talking or ranting to talking more formally about the game he's discussing.
* SoBadItsGood: [[invoked]]
** ''The Great Escape'' in his opinion, especially due to how broken the last level is.
** His review of Phoenix Games' ''Pinocchio'' has him constantly amused at the bad animation, voice acting, and storytelling.
** He also considers the ''VideoGame/HarryPotterAndThePhilosophersStone'' game on the [=PS1=] to be this due to a frenetic storyline and some hilariously OffModel interpretations of the characters.
** He says that as much as he makes fun of ''Series/GamingInTheClintonYears'', he enjoys the reviews for how bad they are.
* SoOkayItsAverage:[[invoked]] His opinion on ''Donald Duck: Quack Attack'' (or ''Goin' Quackers'' as it's known in the States). He doesn't find any major issues with the game, and even compliments it on a few things, but finds the gameplay highly derivative of ''VideoGame/CrashBandicoot'' and the audiovisual execution only passable. His conclusion is to give the game the slauvage and recommend just playing a ''Crash Bandicoot'' game instead.
* SomeDexterityRequired: Just looking at the controls for ''The Fifth Element'' [[VomitDiscretionShot causes him to vomit]], with how bizarre and complicated some of the inputs are.
--> '''Caddy''': When did this game become fucking '''[[VideoGame/{{Tekken}} TAKEEN]]'''?!
* SophisticatedAsHell: Prone to making random quotes about people, such as: In the words of [[UsefulNotes/MahatmaGandhi Gandhi]], "Let's get on with this shit". And when he was a child, he hated ''Totally Angelica'' so much he "Drowned it in '''wine''' many years ago."
* SoulJar: Caddy's copy of ''V.I.P.'' held [[spoiler: Scarfulhu's]] for almost three years before he inadvertently released him.
* SoundtrackDissonance: In his Dreamworks games video, he hangs a lampshade on it when he says the title screen music to ''Shrek Treasure Hunt'' makes it sound like the player is getting ready for Shrek's funeral. Subverted when he takes it back and claims it was quite appropriate, because in his words, "this game is dead on arrival."
* SphereEyes: When Caddy notices how everything in ''Croc: Legend of The Gobbos'' has large, disjointed eyes, he starts to wonder about the implications of this. Like how it feels to [[EyeScream grasp the back of your eyeballs]].
* SpringtimeForHitler: In ''Blossom Blast Bastards'', Caddicarus ended up creating the entire video because of his frustrations with a single level in the game - Level 114 - which had become ThatOneLevel for him. It was designed in such a way that Caddy felt it was impossible to beat without spending any money on for free turns, saying that he was going to give up on the game because of it. While recording footage for the video, however, he beat the level anyway, by sheer luck.
* StableTimeLoop: His collab with Brutalmoose. His half (''The Poo Race'') opens with him receiving an ultimatum from Brutalmoose, and ends with him hacking into the latter's computer. Brutalmoose's half ('Crisis City') opens with Caddicarus hacking into his computer, and ends with him getting the evil idea to send Caddicarus ''The Zoo Race''. [[note]]though it's never directly stated in either video, ''Crisis City'' ends on a cliffhanger and its description links to ''The Poo Race'' as a 'sequel'.[[/note]] It's never explained.
* StrangelyArousing: Parodied and inverted upon seeing the commercial for [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPHbdkbuUb4 Mr. Mosquito on PS2]].
--> MY PEEPEE GOT CONFUSED\\
AND IT FELL OFF
* StylisticSuck: His ''VideoGame/PuttySquad'' is a mild example, featuring no real introduction, a lampshaded NoEnding, and the whole video being even more rapid-fire than usual. He explains at the start he had about four days to make the video, and despite the rushed pace of the finished product, it's still got his usual production values.
** His ''10 SH*T BEGINNINGS IN GAMES'' video naturally has a dreadful post-intro sketch, with Caddicarus rambling incoherently while playing with a fidget spinner and wearing a [[VideoGame/MetalGearSolidVThePhantomPain Diamond Dogs]] hoodie the wrong way around.[[invoked]]
* SuckinessIsPainful: The truly bad games Caddy plays tend to have this effect on him, from bouts of depression, mania, and hair loss.
* SuddenlyShouting: Caddy tends to do this quite a lot, and it's usually edited to be even louder.
* SuicideAsComedy: See AteHisGun above for a couple of subverted examples. [[spoiler: He accidentally manages to slaughter himself at the end of ''Rascal''.]]
* SurprisinglyHappyEnding: Since his current videos are about looking at games that are most likely gonna be bad, it always comes as a surprise to him when he finishes a video on a game he considers to be good, such as ''VideoGame/DanceDanceRevolution Disney Mix'' or ''VideoGame/CrashMindOverMutant''[[note]]Which he still didn't find to be that good, but the improvements it brings to the gameplay and the writing makes him value it more compared to other post-Naughty Dog Crash games[[/note]].
* SurprisinglyImprovedSequel:[[invoked]]
** He isn't fond of the ''Franchise/AssassinsCreed'' series at all, finding them repetitive, boring and buggy. However he was surprised at how good ''Videogame/AssassinsCreedIVBlackFlag'' was.
** After finding the second ''Lego Island'' game terrible, he finds ''Lego Xtreme Stunts'' a surprising improvement on the second game.
** After finding ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfSpyroANewBeginning'' incredibly bland and its sequel ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfSpyroTheEternalNight The Eternal Night]]'' very frustrating due to its spike in difficulty, he was pleasantly surprised by ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfSpyroDawnOfTheDragon Dawn of the Dragon]]'' for greatly refining the combat system, introducing more exploration mechanics, and even letting him freely fly in many areas.
* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: After concluding that the Android mobile game ''Krash Bandi'' is too good for this Earth, he throws the phone upward in an attempt to give it to God. The phone doesn't make it far before crashing back onto the ground.
* TakeAThirdOption: Near the end of his ''Destruction Derby 2'' review, Caddy feels that the game wasn't quite good enough to be salvaged, yet not terrible enough to be slaughtered. Thus, the "slauvage" was born. ''Quack Attack'', ''VideoGame/TheGrinch2000'', ''Rosco [=McQueen=]'', ''VideoGame/JawsUnleashed'', ''VideoGame/Rayman1'', ''Franchise/ToyStory Racer'', and ''VideoGame/CrashBandicootTheWrathOfCortex'' got the slauvage as well. He also tried to slauvage ''The Great Escape'' for being SoBadItsGood[[invoked]], but the game's brokenness had him laughing too hard to carry on with it.
** For ''VideoGame/RidgeRacer'', which Caddy feels suffers from both TheComputerIsACheatingBastard and OnceOriginalNowCommon, instead of slaughtering or salvaging it, Caddy decides to put it back on his shelf due to the influence it had on gaming as a whole and for it being the first numbered PAL Playstation game.
* TakeThat: He says that the reviews by ''Series/GamingInTheClintonYears'' may be useless, but at least they're better than IGN.
* TalkativeLoon: His usual reviewing style has him constantly rambling off non-sequiturs.
* TenMinuteRetirement: In "Rascal", Caddy ends taking a hiatus due to how horrendous the game is, and takes his channel in a new direction: horror story narration (re-dubbing himself "[[WebVideo/TheMidnightSociety MrCaddyPasta]]").
* ThatRemindsMeOfASong: Subverted in his ''VideoGame/{{The Grinch|2000}}'' Review, when he notes that the episode is ending on a surprisingly happy note, and then decides to sing "[[Film/TheMuppetChristmasCarol Thankful Heart]]"... but only gets to sing the first two lines before ending abruptly due to copyright reasons.
* TheScrappy: [[invoked]]
** Caddy is not a fan of Chick and Stew from the ''Crash Team Racing'' subseries.
** Also surprisingly, Crash Bandicoot himself! Or at least his ''WesternAnimation/SkylandersAcademy'' version. That version is so [[AdaptationalIntelligence out of character]] to Caddy that he doesn't even consider him to be Crash Bandicoot.
--> '''Caddy''': [[HashtagForLaughs #NotMyBanooca]]
** His least favorite character from ''WesternAnimation/ThomasAndFriends'' is Gordon.
* TheProblemWithLicensedGames: Discussed InUniverse whenever reviewing licensed games. ''The Fifth Element'', for example, has him saying that by now, we should know not to get our hopes up for them. [[SugarWiki/NoProblemWithLicensedGames Except for]] ''VideoGame/SpiderMan2'', "...because that game was the ''fucking'' '''''TITS!'''''"
* [[TheTapeKnewYoudSayThat The Letter Knew You'd Say That]]: Ian's letter to Caddy in ''[[VideoGame/ZooRace The Poo Race]]''. Eventually lampshaded:
--> '''Caddy''': I'm having an argument with a letter, aren't I?
--> '''Ian (voiceover, reading the letter)''': Uh, yes, yes you are. (''beat'') A letter from ''GOD''!
** Pops up again in "The Spleenies: Shame Time", with Ian once again predicting Caddy's reactions to the letter.
* TheTeetotaler: Implied to be one in his 'Rascal' review, and later confirmed on Twitter.
* ThreateningShark: In the ''Jaws Unleashed'' review, Caddy keeps referring to the game as being "like [x]... BUT WITH SHARKS!", prompting a shark to jump from the side of the screen accompanied by a loud guitar chord.
* TitleDrop:
** Referenced and heavily lampshaded in the "Sly Cooper" Retrospective.
--->'''Congratulations, you just TITLE-DROPPED!'''
** Played straight in the ''Bratz'' episode.
** And again in ''The Insane World of Video Game Commercials''.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: In later episodes, he, for whatever reason, developed a love for milk (or "miluk", as he calls it).
* TriggerHappy: A RunningGag involves Caddy [[TheyKilledKenny shooting anyone who joins him.]]
** Instead of shooting [[spoiler:Scarfulhu]], he uses [[spoiler:his new-found psychic powers to make his head explode.]]
** The only people Caddy has never killed are [[spoiler:WebVideo/TheCompletionist]], [[spoiler:WebVideo/JordanUnderneath]], and [[spoiler:WebVideo/{{Brutalmoose}}. Scarfulhu later came BackFromTheDead and gave Caddy a KarmicDeath]].
** This is also how he "slaughters" games, by shooting them with a pistol. ''The Simpsons Skateboarding'' and ''Spice World'' got several shots.
*** Subverted a few times: [[spoiler: ''VideoGame/ZooRace'' didn't get shot because it was a computer program, so he just erased it; he accidentally shot something else besides ''VideoGame/LSDDreamEmulator'', setting off his fire alarm; ''Franchise/TheLionKing: Simba's Mighty Adventure'' didn't get shot because he was out of bullets at the time; he doesn't get the opportunity to slaughter either the ''WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooAndTheCyberChase'' game (he accidentally turned it into the movie) or movie (the music video "Shaggy and Scooby Doo Love to Eat" temporarily killed him), and he couldn't slaughter ''VideoGame/CoolBoarders 3'' because several people aimed AK-47's at him, and he refused to end the video until the guns were lowered. ''Rascal'' and ''Irritating Stick...Seriously'' end with Caddy slaughtering ''himself'', albeit under two completely different circumstances: He drunkenly shot himself in ''Rascal'', and slaughtered his memory of ''Irritating Stick'' since he didn't have a disk ([[NoExportForYou the game was never released in PAL territories]]).]]
* TrrrillingRrrs: Whilst not as prevalent as most examples of the trope, he tends to slip one in some of his lines. He also rolls the "R" in "Subscribe" during his closing jingle.
** He made fun of the overuse of this in the opening cutscene of ''Disney's Aladdin in Nasira's Revenge''.
--->"Okay, rrreally think about this for a second, game developerrrs. When wrrriting yourrr scrrript, did you serrriously rrrequirrre everrry 'rrr' in yourrr sentence to rrroll? It's rrrancid!"
* UnexplainedRecovery: In ''Santa Claus Saves The Earth'', [[spoiler:Caddy is forced to shoot his beloved [=PS1=], but it returns completely intact in "Voluptuous Raider"]]. However, this is eventually subverted (somehow) in "The Grinch", which continues the story of the former episode and justifies [[spoiler:the [=PS1=]'s return]].
* VideoGameCrueltyPotential: His own LEGOLAND creation, Floppy Brick, is chock full of this. From the Land of Fount, surrounded by trees to remind you that ''you can never leave'', to the Cacti Forest of Sin, only accessible from falling off the Space Tower and impossible to escape from, to [[SouvenirLand Buyshit Boulevard]].
* ViewersAreMorons: By Caddy's own interpretation, on occasion. Firstly in the ''Coronation Street'' "[[TheProblemWithLicensedGames game]]", where the hint system is more like, "Can't find it? Here it is, you twat!". The second time is the patronizing clown he uses to state the obvious in ''3, 2, 1, Smurf''. The third time is the sarcastic hints in ''Bratz Rock Angelz''.
** Games aimed at kids that treat the player as an idiot are a general BerserkButton for him. He points out "Kids may be easily amused, but they are ''not stupid''" and excessive hand-holding is just insulting to their intelligence.
** Comes to a head in his overview of ''Peppa Pig'', chastising what he sees as unnecessary narration operating on this.
* ViewerPronunciationConfusion: [[invoked]]
** Has problems with pronunciations in the "Klonoa: I Can't Pronounce This Game" review, struggling with "Klonoa" and "Huepow". During the review, he cycles between each pronunciation of "Klonoa".
---> "Is it Klonoa? Klone-ah? Klon-ow? Klon-oooooooooaaaaaaah?"
** In the ''Vib-Ribbon'' review, he repeatedly trips over the pronunciation of "[=NanaOn-Sha=]".
* VitriolicBestBuds: Caddy and Ian, at least until their feud becomes all-out war.
** Caddy and Jordan from Jordan Underneath also qualify, interrupting each other's videos frequently.
* VocalEvolution: His delivery has gotten deeper and more mature as of the 2014 episodes.
* VoiceOfTheLegion: Caddy often uses this effect to make a point in a comedic way.
* {{Wangst}}: His countdown of gaming's ''Top 10 Saddest Sads'' is one long tirade against video game characters who are insufferably miserable.
* WhyWontYouDie: [[spoiler:Jordan to Caddy]] at the end of the ''VideoGame/ResidentEvilZero'' review.
-->'''[[spoiler:Jordan]]''': ''Die. JUST DIE!''
* XtremeKoolLetterz
** When talking about ''Franchise/{{Bratz}}''
-->You don't know Franchise/{{Bratz}}? Consider yourself lucky. I mean literally; Bratz by name, brats by nature. And it has a Z[[labelnote:*]]he pronounces it "zee", not "zed"[[/labelnote]] in it: becauz itz coolz.
** Discussed when reviewing ''Lego Xtreme Stunts''. Caddy is a bit annoyed that the people who made the title started "Extreme" with an X but didn't end "Stunts" with a Z.
* YourHeadAsplode: Caddy's psychic powers allow him to do this to [[spoiler:Scarfulhu]] in ''Fabuloso Sword II.''
