-->-- The opening to all of his videos

Ian, otherwise known as [[http://www.youtube.com/user/brutalmoose brutalmoose]], is a video game reviewer on WebSite/YouTube and [[http://hiddenblock.com/ Hidden Block]]. He does reviews mostly of PC titles, though he occasionally does console games too. His style is more relaxed than most of the other comedic video game reviewers on [=YouTube=] with a notably more informative direction, although he does mostly do it for the humor.

He also does occasional Top 5 videos, which are usually his top 5 games for a certain category plus a guest pick, and the Lightning Round, where he only gets two minutes to review a game.

!!This show provides examples of:
* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking:
** Happens in his ''VideoGame/SonicShuffle'' review; he says there was a time when ''VideoGame/MarioParty'' and ''Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog'' were cool, before listing off several things such as Sonic's later games and listing them off by saying "that was before that and that and that and that...and ''that''..." ending on [[spoiler:[[VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2006 Elise kissing Sonic]].]]
** Also occurs in his ''Fatty Bear'' review, where he mentions games these days are typically labelled as "violent, mind-numbing, and God knows what else." While he says this, he also uses text to list the arguments, but for the last thing, he uses "delicious."
** In the ''Sociolotron'' review, he encounters an NPC whose description goes on for three sentences about how obese she is, then ends with "Her mouth looks normal."
** In his Crisis City review when he makes up a story about an egg in the game, he says that "Some of humanity's most evil people were inspired by staring at the magical rainbow egg for too long." it shows a picture of AdolfHitler, JosefStalin, and [[WesternAnimation/SpongebobSquarepants Plankton]].
* ArtificialStupidity:
** He demonstrates in ''VideoGame/{{Facade}}'' that he was able to get the best ending [[spoiler:by doing nothing except using the word "Yes" the entire time.]]
** In ''VideoGame/SonicShuffle'' he shows the computer characters getting hit over and over in the final minigame, in an area way far away from all the action.
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: He mentions this several times in ''VideoGame/{{Facade}}'', particularly whenever he tries to end arguments.
-->'''brutalmoose''': I don't want to talk about that [the sculptures].
-->'''Grace''': Oh... So, I just had to have these sculptures.
* BeingWatched: How he interprets the Buzzy button in ''Let's Explore the Airport''.
* CallBack: Any time a joke is made about a character flying off into space, they crash into the same satellite Fred did in his ''Flintstones'' game review, at the same time as Fred.
* CaptainObvious: "[[VideoGame/LEGOIsland Driving ain't like skateboarding]]." No Shit City, Population: Pepper Roni.
* CardboardPrison: Because he doesn't know how to make them, his first prison in ''VideoGame/PrisonTycoon'' is built ''without any fences''. Naturally, the criminals have no trouble escaping.
* CurseCutShort: Happens twice in the ''A Hat in Time'' prototype, you stupid bi-
* DidNotDoTheBloodyResearch: Mocked in his ''Spy Fox'' review; after WebVideo/{{Caddicarus}} uses stereotypical American terminology to mock Ian back, Ian responds with "Bloody wanker."
* DistractedByTheSexy: Happens accidentally in his ''VideoGame/LEGOIsland 2'' review, where during a normal conversation, Valerie Stubbins appears next to Nick Brick. He adds a StaggeredZoom onto her and drowns out everything else.
* DullSurprise: The radio host's voice in ''Crisis City'' when announcing that there will be both an earthquake and tsunami.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: Prior to ''VideoGame/FattyBear's Birthday Surprise'', brutalmoose never showed up on camera. Also, in his ''really'' early videos, his voice was notably much less enthusiastic.
* EverythingIsBetterWithSpinning: In most of his videos, the on-screen image is guaranteed to start randomly spinning with little-or-no provocation.
* FakeBrit: Pulls off one in his ''VideoGame/SpyFox in Dry Cereal'' review. WebVideo/{{Caddicarus}} is not amused about it.[[invoked]]
* FetishRetardant:[[invoked]] He finds the sexual content of ''Lula 3D'' unattractive due to the poor 3D animation.[[note]]Also, while it's not stated in-video, Ian is gay.[[/note]]
* FreezeFrameBonus: You might as well hit the pause button every 20 seconds in his videos.
* FreudWasRight:[[invoked]] In ''Space Dude'', he encounters a DamselInDistress who gets seized by a set of tentacles, and then a room full of balls.
* GameBreakingBug: He encounters a glitch in ''VideoGame/TheAmazonTrail II'' where the game will randomly stop and kick him back to the main menu at random points.
** Subverted in the ''Bad Milk'' playthrough: the first time around, the game crashes on the final puzzle, but when he reloads it, the game successfully continues from where he left off, and he completes the final puzzle without any problems.
* GuideDangIt: It takes him nearly the entire ''Space Dude'' review before he realizes that diagonal movement is done via the numpad.
* GuiltyPleasures: [[invoked]]The entire theme of one of his top 5 lists.
* HurricaneOfPuns: ''Bad Rats'' features a slew of "rat" puns, such as Alex Ratriguez and Rodent Hood.
* HypocriticalHumor: Happens at the beginning of his ''VideoGame/LEGORacers'' review:
-->'''brutalmoose''': If there was one thing we were taught as kids, [[TemptingFate it's that we should never give into peer pressure]]. ''(Various comments pop up pressuring him to review the game)'' So let's review ''LEGO Racers''!
* IncrediblyLongNote: "SIMTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-" (turns face towards camera) "-OOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWN!"
* {{Irony}}: He claims the removal of the apostrophe-s from the title of ''Tony Hawk: RIDE'' was a major change, while citing the control change as a minor alteration.
* LamePunReaction: His response to most of the puns in ''Spy Fox''. Also happens at the end of the video when he says "Spy Fax" about a fax machine.
* LogoJoke: Most of his videos use logos based on the game he is about to play. For instance, Humongous Entertainment game reviews typically have the logo formatted like the HE logo itself.
* MindScrew: The entire ''Bad Milk'' review, because of how free-association most of the puzzles are.
* NoPronunciationGuide: He has trouble pronouncing ''VideoGame/{{Chantelise}}'' at the beginning.
* PoliceAreUseless: Discussed in his ''VideoGame/LEGOIsland'' review:
-->'''brutalmoose''': But don't worry, though. Even though I just released the only criminal on LEGO Island, the police are basically like, "Oh, s'all good."
-->'''Infomaniac''': So we need someone to race over there! Someone who can use a vehicle that can travel on roads and paths, over ramps, and in a jiffy!
-->'''brutalmoose''': Oh, you mean a motorcycle.
-->'''Infomaniac''': A skateboard, perhaps!
-->'''brutalmoose''': [[FlatWhat What?]] There are two people on motorcycles right there! [''arrows point at Nick and Laura, both riding motorcycles''] But no, the general consensus is that a skateboard would be a much, much better idea. [[SurroundedByIdiots Everyone here? Idiots.]]
* SafetyWorst: In ''[=SimTown=]'', not only does he put three fire stations right next to each other, but he also adds prisons in the most inappropriate places, such as right next to a bunch of apartments.
* ScreamsLikeALittleGirl: Does this in reaction to the skateboard peripheral of Tony Hawk: Ride.
* SeinfeldIsUnfunny: [[invoked]] He expresses this opinion in his Lightning Round of ''VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys'', as so many others have done walkthroughs or other videos on it and this spoiled any scare potential it could have had for him.
* SelfDeprecation: This is apparent on his Tumblr.
* SensoryAbuse: The first ''Lego Island'' video ends with the game's victory cut scenes played over each other, slowed down and reversed.
* ShallowParody: [[invoked]]He says this about ''Wacky Funsters!''.
* ShoutOut: Ian [[WesternAnimation/BluesClues skidoos]] into a book in the middle of his ''VideoGame/{{Myst}}'' review.
* StylisticSuck: His personal interpretation of ''Razor Freestyle Scooter'''s soundtrack.
* TakeThat: In his ''VideoGame/SonicShuffle'' review, he uses ''Series/{{Seinfeld}}'' as a picture for the word "boring".
* ThisIsGonnaSuck: "Since I'm in a Dreamcast mood, let's just plug it in and see what's in there." (''VideoGame/SonicShuffle'' shows up) "Help meeeeeee..."
* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: [[DiscussedTrope Talked about]] in ''[[VideoGame/TonyHawksProSkater Tony Hawk: RIDE]]''. Since all the game's cutscenes are shown on a T-Mobile Sidekick, he points out how putting [[ProductPlacement real life technology]] in a game can make it feel dated.[[invoked]]
* UnreadablyFastText: Used very often, usually as a form of SelfDeprecation.
* VideoGameCrueltyPotential: Exploited relentlessly in ''VideoGame/PrisonTycoon 3'', where he completely removes everything except the fences and turns it into a literal game of survival.
** In the ''Mall Tycoon 3'' review, he constructs a mall composed entirely of a single long, spiral hallway leading to a store, then jokes about how customers are probably dying or panicking before they get to the store.
* XtremeKoolLetterz: Pokes fun at this in ''Razor Freestyle Scooter'':
-->'''brutalmoose''': The next level is called "Schoolz Out"...with a ''z''. Because, y'know, [[SarcasmMode z is the hippest letter of the alphabet.]] It's what all the kids are into.
* YouHaveGotToBeKiddingMe: His reaction to all of the AddedAlliterativeAppeal in ''ViceoGame/JazzJackrabbit'', albeit replacing "Have got to" with "Gotta," and adding an expletive.
* YouKeepUsingThatWord: "Accident!!" in ''VideoGame/SonicShuffle'', which according to the game means a random minigame. Ian is quick to call the game out on this.
