----
!!Provides the examples of:
* ZeroPercentApprovalRating: Rachel Tice, who seems to be loathed by everyone at the school and her own sister except for Judith, [[spoiler: until she wins prom queen.]]
* HundredPercentAdorationRating: Amberlynn, who is well regarded with warmth and positive input from just about everybody except Deandra, who doesn't know her since she's only been at Overland Park for two weeks. Even the warring cheerleaders and Van Burens stop to compliment her for "really deserving it" when she gets nominated for prom queen and [[spoiler: subsequently wins third runner up]].
* AccidentalMisnaming: Shay Van Buren starts being constantly called Gay after being nominated for Prom Queen.
* ActingForTwo: Many of the voice actors/actresses have multiple roles.
* AlphaBitch: Mackenzie Zales seems to fit this role, or shares it with Shay Van Buren. Shay's sister Cameron seemed to fill it when she was in the school prior to the start of the series, and Mikayla appears to be this in the elementary school she attends.
* AlphabeticalThemeNaming: The Atchison High Cheer Squad, whose names all start with the letter T (Head Cheerleader Tanya Berkowitz, Co-Head Vice Captain Taylor [=McDevitt=], and Trisha)
** Coincidentally, for the three gay characters as well: [[StraightGay Tanner]], [[CampGay Tristan]], [[spoiler: and Than]]
* AndNowForSomethingCompletelyDifferent: The winner of prom queen gets immediately sidetracked by a dance routine from the football team, causing Mackenzie to go on a loud and vicious rant from the ridiculousness of the night.
* AgeInappropriateArt:
** In the third grade, all the girls loved the song Tipsy by J-Kwon.
** Third-grade Rachel Tice is obsessed with ''TheOC'' and all the girls proceed to discuss sexual plotlines on the show.
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: Rachel Tice and Mikayla Van Buren.
-->'''Cameron Van Buren:''' Correction! ''Shay and I'' are at war with the Cheer Squad. ''You'' got sent home from school for infecting the entire third grade with lice.

-->'''Rachel Tice:''' I'm recording it on the DVR. DON'T ERASE MY DVR!
-->'''Bridget Tice:''' I'm going to watch it in the family room, you stupid. Fucking. [[CrossesTheLineTwice Abortion]].
* [[spoiler: ArtificialLimbs:]] As of the season 2 premiere [[spoiler: Deandra has prosthetics to replace her ripped-off arms. One looks like a regular arm, but the other is a cyborg arm that whirs whenever she moves it.]]
* [[spoiler: ArtifactTitle: The New Year's Eve episode reveals that the main characters have, over the course of a year, lost all of their friends and their social status.]]
* AscendedExtra: Rachel Tice was supposed to be a one-shot appearance but they liked the voice so much that she got her own sub-plot.
* AsideGlance: In [[http://youtu.be/p2PvPwZBDQA episode 29]], when Tanya notices Deandra's robot arm, she says she didn't know there was a ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist'' convention in town. Deandra responds, "Oh funny. I've never heard that one before. Ever." and then looks at the camera. This is in response to the many YouTube comments about how Deandra's robot arm reminds fans of Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist.
* AssumedWin: Every girl nominated for Prom Queen except Amberlynn Weggers thought they'd win. Imagine everyone's surprise when [[spoiler: Rachel Tice wins by giving every boy in the school (except Matthew Derringer) a blowjob.]]
* BackstabbingTheAlphaBitch: Deandra does this to both Alpha Bitches for the other.
** Ashley as of Season 2 [[spoiler: with the help of the Atchison High cheer squad; their own squad's rival. Not much for the "Alpha Bitch" part since she's still really upset with Trisha]].
* BareYourMidriff: Saison Margeurite is an extreme case where in which, her variation of the nip-slip when it comes to WardrobeMalfunction is mostly because her top exposing so much of her stomach to the chest.
* BechdelTest: Passes with flying colors.
* BerserkButton: Brittnay really doesn't like Saison's-how you say?-VerbalTic.
** Outside of the show, do ''not'' say the word 'supercool' around Carlo. He hates it so, of course, [[RunningGag people use it often.]]
* BetaBitch: Brittnay to Mackenzie, and Mackenzie loves pointing out that Brittnay is only the "co-head vice cheer captain" and expects her to act like it.
* BeYourself: At the end of Season 2 Brittnay and Mackenzie resolve to never change who they are to become rich and famous. Even if who they are are rude, crass, and kind of psychotic.
* BigBad: [[spoiler: Jenna Darabond, who let Deandra into the girl's room in Episode 1, brought Shay Van Buren in between Mackenzie and her boyfriend, and burned down the Atchison Mall at some point between Seasons 1 and 2. And she's introducing {{Hipster}}ism to Overland Park High School ([[DontExplainTheJoke which is bad for the main group of cheerleaders]]).]]
* BigEater: Deandra, if Episode 5 (Appropriately titled "$57 Lunch") is anything to go by.
-->'''Deandra:''' Can I have a hotdog?... Lemme get some tater tots. Oh, and, also, a slice of pepperoni pizza, and, also a basket of jalapeno poppers, and some chicken nuggets, a ketchup boat, three potato pancakes, a creamsicle, two quesadillas, a bread loaf, side of ranch, some pixie sticks, taco salad, an order of ribs, aaa{{and a diet coke}}- no. Strawberry shake. No! Diet Coke. NO! Both."
-->'''Lunch Lady Belinda:''' That is gonna be [[ToiletHumour one huge shit]].
* BlackAndGreyMorality: Although YMMV on which is which.
* BlondesAreEvil: Arguably, the Van Buren Sisters, depending on what side you take. The same applies to Brittnay Matthews, and Mrs. Van Buren.
* BlondeBrunetteRedhead: The three main cheerleaders, Brittnay, Mackenzie and Trisha.
* BodyHorror: In episode 11, [[spoiler: Deandra gets her arms ripped off]] during a fight between the Van Burens and the Cheerleaders.
* BreakingTheFourthWall:
** In response to all of the Youtube comments about how Deandra's robot arm reminds fans of ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist''
---> '''Tanya:''' I didn't realize there was a Fullmetal Alchemist convention in town.
---> '''Deandra:''' [[SarcasmMode Oh funny.]] I've never heard that one before. [[AsideGlance Ever.]]
** In an earlier episode when Mackenzie goes to the doctor about her hair loss he tells her he's sure no one will notice, Mackenzie responds, "Oh, trust me. ''[[AsideGlance Everyone]]'' has noticed." This was in response to fans commenting bout the random bald spot appearing on the Mackenzie doll.
* BrickJoke: In the first episode, Ashley Katchadourian lets Deandra into the bathroom, Trisha then mentions that Ashley isn't even in charge of the door, Jenna Darabond is in charge of the door. [[spoiler: In episodes 11 and 12, after Deandra gets her arms ripped off, Trisha blames Ashley because she wasn't watching the door. But then it turns out Ashley wasn't in charge of watching the door after all.]]
* ButtMonkey:
** [[InsistentTerminology Fucking Rachel Tice]].
** Jonathan is this amongst the guys.
* CallBack: At the start of episode 5 Matthew Derringer retells the same [[NoodleIncident story]] Trisha told at the beginning of the series.
* CampGay: Tanner Christiansen's boyfriend, Tristan.
* CassandraTruth: Brittnay doesn't trust Deandra, who is currently backstabbing both the cheerleaders and the Van Burens.
* CatchPhrase: The Van Buren "Hi/By''eeee''!". [[spoiler: It's what gives Deandra away to the cheerleaders.]]
* CerebusRetcon: The Atchison Mall burning down in Season 2? [[spoiler: Jenna Darabond did it to set the Atchison Cheer Squad on the Overland Park Squad.]]
* TheCheerleader: Four have appeared onscreen (Mackenzie Zales, Brittnay Matthews, Trisha Cappelletti) and Ashley Katchadourian, with others being mentioned (Amber Zendaihouse, Jenna Darabond).
** As of episode 6, [[spoiler:Deandra]] seems to have joined them, after being enticed with the charms of the WondrousLadiesRoom.
** Cameron and possibly Mrs. Van Buren were formally cheerleaders as well, considering Shay mentions that she is the only one in her family not to have become head cheerleader.
** In Episode 21, Jenna Dapananian makes her debut, making five of them having appeared onscreen. There's yet to come for [[OneSteveLimit the other cheerleader named Jenna]].
** Jenna Darabond finally appears at the end of Episode 30, [[spoiler: plotting her revenge against Mackenzie]].
* ChekhovsGun: [[spoiler: Ashley tells the rival cheer squad that Saison Marguerite is pregnant in hopes to get revenge on Overland Park's cheer squad. While this seems like a pointless throw away joke to poke fun at Ashley's ineptitude gossip, guess which character just got put on the cheer squad for nationals?]]
* TheChessmaster: Judith and Rachel consider themselves to be this, in regards to their plan to [[spoiler: get Rachel crowned Prom Queen.]]
-->Judith: See of you can explain all the twists and turns to these simpletons, Rachel.
-->Rachel: Well, [[spoiler: I gave every boy in school... a blow j.]]
** Deandra may be this too, as [[spoiler: she expected to win prom queen by pity vote (due to losing her arms)]].
** [[spoiler: Mackenzie, '''''so much'''''.]]
* CloudCuckooLander: Trisha Cappelletti.
* ChristmasEpisode: Episode 38.
* ChronicBackstabbingDisorder: Deandra with the Cheerleaders and the Van Burens.
* DeadpanSnarker: Bridget Tice.
-->'''Tanner:''' "I'm Tanner Christiansen."
-->'''Bridget:''' "The answer to a question I never asked."
* DisappearedDad: Mr. Van Buren. He's probably yet to make his appearance since he's mentioned very briefly in the "$57 Lunch" episode that he gave the Van Buren sisters a credit card.
* DisproportionateRetribution: Mackenzie ruined Shay's life because Shay ate her Lunchable in second grade.
** In episode 12, Trisha has Brittnay make out with Ashley Katchadourian's boyfriend to get back at her for not watching the door.
* DitzyGenius: It's entirely possible (and there have been some small hints at the concept that) Trisha C. has [[Obfuscating Stupidity]].
* DepravedHomosexual: Lunch Lady Belinda may be this, as evidenced by her apparent crush on [[spoiler: Cameron Van Buren]].
** Jonathan Getslinhaumer may be this as well.
* DysfunctionalFamily: In the thanksgiving episode, a sneak peek of how it goes in some of the major characters' household. This is pretty much it. Except for Brittnay where she just throws out a ham and cranberry sauce out of the window but nonetheless, she counts.
** Averted for Deandra it seems since she actually praised her mom and her grandmother for the dinner they just had.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: The things that stood out in the first three episodes include Mackenzie and Trisha who still looked like knock-off dolls, neither wearing their cheerleader uniforms, and [[TheOtherDarrin Mackenzie's voice]].
* EmbarrassingNickname: Gay Van Buren.
* EvilMatriarch: Mrs. Van Buren has shades of this since she eagerly helps Shay, Mikayla, and Deandra in their plots to humiliate the Cheerleaders, even lecturing them on the proper way to spike their energy drinks with laxatives and the correct time to do so.
* FallenPrincess: Rachel Tice used to be friends with Shay, Mackenzie and Brittnay in the third grade. At least, until Brittnay caught her eating a roly-poly straight out of the sandbox. It's been downhill for her ever since. [[spoiler: At least, until Prom Night....]]
** [[spoiler: Actually, by season two, Rachel is ''still'' unpopular. Mackenzie and the Cheerleaders point out that winning prom queen by giving blow jobs didn't make her popular. It just made her a whore.]]
* FalseFriend: Deandra to the Cheerleaders and the Van Burens. She sides with both of them just to reap the benefits.
* FanDisservice: Lunch Lady Belinda in Episode 26. Let's just say, don't plan on eating before or after watching the video. Or possibly ever again.
* {{Fangirl}}: Rachel Tice, with her obsession with ''GossipGirl'' and previously (in the third grade), ''TheOC''. She also seems to be a big fan of ''[[Series/TeenWolf Teen Wolf]]'', enough to threaten her sister over it...
* FieryRedhead: Bridget Tice could count as such. Then again, given that she's portrayed by a doll of [[Film/{{Brave}} Merida]]...
* FlatWhat: Mackenzie's deadpan response to Rachel Tice's master plan.
-->'''Rachel Tice''': Well, [[spoiler: I gave every boy in the school a blow j.]]
* {{Foreshadowing}}: At prom..
-->'''Lunch Lady Belinda''': Forget it. The babies you make tonight are gonna be so stupid.
** Deandra specifically said Ashley Katchadourian let her into the girls bathroom in the first episode. [[spoiler: When Deandra sees Ashley at Cheer Nationals she only refers to her as "that girl who betrayed you guys" and never by her real name, which seems to hint Deandra never actually met Ashely Katchadourian. Come season 3, we learn Jenna Darabond let Deandra in and said she was Ashley Katchadourian.]]
* FourthWallPsych: Brittnay and Mackenzie seem to have this going on in episode 10. When Brittnay brings up Taylor [=McDevitt=] and the water park incident she walks up to the camera, seemingly telling it to the viewers. Mackenzie does the same when she proclaims that Shay Van Buren will now be known as "Gay" Van Buren. They're both simply telling it to their fellow cheer squad and are only looking away for dramatic effect but it lead them instead to look directly at us
* FreakOut: Trisha Cappelletti has one after [[spoiler: Deandra gets her arms ripped off]], royally chewing out Ashley Katchadourian in the process.
** Mackenzie has a VillainousBreakdown variant during prom after the poll results for prom queen keep getting sidetracked.
* FreezeFrameBonus: In Episode 23- it takes some careful watching but the poster for the movie Brittnay and Than are going to see eventually becomes clear enough to read: ''Ryan Gosling Won't Eat His Cereal''
* FriendlyEnemy: Why the Van Burens seem to despise Mackenzie and Brittnay with a passion, they seem fairly neutral around Trisha. Mikayla even seems to be developing a somewhat odd friendship with her.
* FullNameBasis: Pretty much everyone except [[OnlyOneName Deandra]]. Honestly it'd be easier to count when characters aren't referred by their full names.
* GrumpyBear: Bridget Tice
* HairTriggerTemper: Brittnay is this trope embodied.
* HoistByHerOwnPetard: [[spoiler: Deandra gets her arms ripped off in a fight between the cheerleaders and the Van Burens.]]
** And as for [[spoiler: Jenna Darabond burning down the Atchison mall just to get the cheer squad from there involved in her second plan, she gets stabbed by Tanya Berkowitz, the head cheerleader of the--presumably disbanded after Cheer Nationals--Atchison cheer squad]].
* HollywoodHomely: Rachel Tice is so ugly in-universe that she is mistaken for a boy by [[StraightGay Tanner]].
* HotBlooded: Brittnay gets worked up really easily, lets just say that.
* IgnoredEpiphany: After [[spoiler: losing to fucking Rachel Tice]], Mackenzie and Shay muse on the fact that maybe they should focus on being nicer to people instead of being shallow bitches. They both immediately nix this idea in favor of devoting the rest of their lives to destroying [[spoiler: Rachel Tice]], and then deciding they still hate each other.
* InformedObscenity: According to Tanya Berkowitz, there's an 'E' word, in addition to the '[[StuffyOldSongsAboutTheButtocks A]]', '[[WitchWithACapitalB B]]', '[[CountryMatters C]]', '[[GoshDangItToHeck D]]' and '[[PrecisionFStrike F]]' words. What it is never gets established.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: Trisha Cappelletti and Mikayla Van Buren seem to have this.
* JerkJock: Subverted with the football team. Other than slamming into Judith at lunch, [[spoiler: and nominating Rachel Tice for prom queen in exchange for blow jobs (except Matthew)]], the jocks are fairly amicable and only really show hostility towards Than for being an annoying creep. They're also completely accepting of Tanner's homosexuality and Matthew's [[spoiler: lack of a penis and testicles due to a birth defect.]]
* LargeHam: [[WorldOfHam Pretty much everyone]], with the possible exception of [[TheSnarkKnight Bridget Tice]].
--> '''Shay Van Buren:''' This is the worst thing that has ever happened to anybody ever!
* LaserGuidedKarma: Deandra [[spoiler: getting her arms ripped off may count because of how she was playing both the Cheerleaders and the Van Burens. Also, the fact that she didn't win prom queen.]]
* LastEpisodeNewCharacter: Jenna is introduced in the final scene of the second season finale as the third season's new character/villain.
* LimitedWardrobe: While everyone pretty much wears the same outfit throughout the series, they all dress-up for Prom except for Deandra, who's still wearing the same dress. She even lampshades it.
* LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters
* LovableAlphaBitch: Trisha compared to Shay and Mackenzie. Her only genuine bitchy attack on someone else was vengeance against Ashley Katchadourian not watching the door which led to [[spoiler: Deandra's maiming. And when Trisha finds out Ashley was innocent she felt guilty about it.]]
** So lovable that she was given her own spin-off talk show with the other Trisha as her co-host.
* MoralityPet: Amberlynn to Mackenzie and Brittnay, who both have nothing but nice things to say about her.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: In episode 12, [[spoiler: Trisha has Brittnay make out with Ashley Katchadourian's boyfriend at prom as revenge for not watching the door when she should've, which led to Deandra getting her arms torn off. However, Brittnay says that Ashley is in charge of snacks, not the door, and Trisha realizes she made a horrible mistake.]]
* NiceGirl: Amberlynn, whom everyone seems to consider an inspiration. Except Deandra, but as Shay points out Deandra's only been at the school for two weeks so she probably doesn't know everybody.
--> Trisha: Wow, good for Amberlynn.
--> Mackenzie: Yeah, she totally deserved it.
* NiceGuy: Matthew Derringer and Tanner Christiansen.
* NobodyPoops: {{Averted}}.
** To the point that Deandra's catchphrase is "[[CallingYourBathroomBreaks I'm ... going to go poop now]]."
* NoFourthWall: [[spoiler: Trisha at the end of Episode 20 and [[NamesTheSame both Trishas]] at the end of Episode 25.]]
* NoPeriodsPeriod: Averted. The cheer squad calls Mackenzie's period "Shark Week".
* NoodleIncident: Just about everything of importance seems to have occurred in the Third Grade. Subverted in that we see a flashback to the Third Grade, where most of these events are shown.
* NoticingTheFourthWall: Trisha (both of them) notice the subscribe/store/more videos buttons at the end of the video whenever they're in TheStinger.
* NotSoHarmless: Trisha.
* OneSteveLimit: Totally averted, when the Atchison Cheerleaders are revealed to have a Trisha on their squad as well. She is just as out of it as Overland Park's.
-->Atchison Trisha: Do you ever just get lost in a conversation?
-->OP Trisha: Huh?
--> Atchison Trisha: Exactly!
** Also averted Jenna Dapananian and Jenna Darabond, who are both on the Overland Park cheer squad.
* OnlyOneName: Deandra, Blaine, and Judith, which is a big contrast to everyone else's FullNameBasis status.
** Deandra's last name may be "The New Girl," considering this is how her name is announced over the PA [[spoiler: when she's nominated for prom queen]].
* OppositesAttract: Tanner and Tristan.
* {{Pastiche}}: A YouTube user named moxroxursox is reworking the series with characters and sprites from ''VisualNovel/DanganRonpa'' under the title ''the most popular grl @ hopes peak''. It can be seen [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXQnHEHx2hc&feature=c4-overview-vl&list=PLeolsEazBYqDa94s0AfZj_4SEa1yhEMgt here]].
* PetTheDog: When Trisha reveals that she nominated Brittnay for Prom Queen, she seems genuinely touched.
** Mackenzie and Brittnay both saying nice things about Amberlynne and seemingly meaning it.
* PowerWalk: At the end of episode 43 with [[spoiler: the cheer squad showing off their new (and ''definitely'' improved) uniforms]].
* PregnancyTropes: Likely to be seeing a few, now that [[spoiler: Saison Marguerite]] is pregnant with [[spoiler: Blaine]]'s baby. [[CrossesTheLineTwice Knowing this show]], there's a strong possibility of DeadBabyHumor coming up as well.
** Also, [[spoiler: Mrs. Van Buren]], as of Episode 17. [[spoiler: {{Averted}} cause it's been discovered that it's just a pot belly from all the drinking.]]
** The DeadBabyHumor is brought up somewhat when [[spoiler: Lunch Lady Belinda stated that she had a few miscarriages herself]].
* PreppyName: Pretty much everyone, except for, maybe, Rachel Tice, Judith, and Lunch Lady Belinda.
* PunchClockVillain: In Episode 10 Deandra asks Shay if the girls talk about anything other than revenge.
* RealisticDictionIsUnrealistic: {{Averted}} - characters regularly talk over each other, repeat words and add filler when needed.
** Mostly due to the voice actors being experienced in improv and [[ThrowItIn going off script regularly]].
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Trisha's ''epic'' rant against Ashley Katchadourian for not watching the door when she was supposed to, leading up to [[spoiler: Deandra getting her arms ripped off.]]
** Brittnay gave one to Saison and Shay Van Buren in Episode 20 and became a viral hit call "Epic Cheerleader Meltdown" six episodes later.
* TheReveal: The reason why Deandra left Atchison High in Episode 29. [[spoiler:A ''disastrous'' PottyEmergency while on top of the human pyramid during a cheer squad routine.]]
* RevengeBeforeReason: Does not go unlampshaded.
-->'''Deandra''': Do you guys ever talk about anything other than like, revenge?
* RunningGag: Whether or not Ashley Kachadorian is supposed to watch the door, as well as Brittnay being told she gives sub-par hand jobs, stuff happening in the 3rd grade, among others.
* ShoutOut: Chock full of 'em. From Gossip Girl, Glee, The OC, Pokemon, Ryan Cabrera, and Gremlins.
** Let's not forget the shout outs to Kansas in general.
** Rachel Tice at one point says [[WebAnimation/TeenGirlSquad so good.]] This may or may not be intentional, though her voice bears a strong resemblance to the characters from TGS.
** Brittnay's [[HomeStuck "We have all the sex. All of it."]] is seen as one.
** This exchange:
-->'''Mackenzie:''' "ASeriesOfUnfortunateEvents that was completely out of my control."
-->'''Tanya:''' "''Clearly.'' Poor little LemonySnicket."
** When Amberlynn finishes her interview with Jenna Darabond, she walks off humming "[[Disney/{{Frozen}} Do you want to build a snowman?]]"
* ShowWithinAShow: ''Babes Having Babies''. Episode 20 shows its own episode of it.
* SpecialGuest: Disney star Jason Earles (of ''Hannah Montana'' and ''Kickin' It'') guests in the third season as two different characters. RuPaul's Drag Race judge Michelle Visage also voices Mackenzie's mom in two episodes. The show has also featured voice work by well known YouTubers such as Grace Helbig and Tyler Oakley.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The internet has no fucking idea how to spell Ashley Kachadorian/Katchadorian/Kathcadourian/Kachadourian/Cachadorian(etc)'s last name.
** It's actually revealed in episode 18 that her last name is spelled "Katchadourian."
** This is quite a common case. In the [=MPGiS=] trailer, Saison's last name is spelled as "Margarite". In Viewer Mail #1, it's spelled as "Margeurite". The same goes in her twitter. Some would spell her name "correctly" as "Marguerite" which is a real French word/name.
** It's "[[MyNaymeIs Brittnay]]", not "Brittany".
** This applies to anyone guessing unseen character's names. Jenna Darebon/Daerbon/Dairbon for example.
* {{Squee}}: At the beginning of episode 13, Lunch Lady Belinda, of all people, lets out a fangirl screech after the principal announces [[spoiler:Cameron]] as the announcer of the Prom Queen poll results.
* TheStarscream: Brittnay to Mackenzie, although she's not exactly subtle about it.
* TakeAThirdOption: [[spoiler: Rachel Tice won prom queen via write-in votes from the boys since she wasn't officially nominated.]]
** It's a {{running gag}}/recurring instance that Deandra is bad with choices and goes with "both" (i.e. diet coke/strawberry milkshake, robotic/human prosthetics, etc.) This was a prominent case when she sided with both the Van Burens and the cheerleaders.
* TitleDrop: Possibly a thing to happen every last episode of the season.
* {{Toilet Humour}}
* TookALevelInJerkass: [[spoiler: Rachel Tice and Judith]] are shown to have had this happened after [[spoiler: joining Jenna Darabond's club.]]
* TwoTeacherSchool: The only members of the faculty appear to be Lunch Lady Belinda, Principal Nubbins and Coach Spitz.
* UnspokenPlanGuarantee: Subverted. Rachel and Judith are always talking about their "plan" but never about what it is exactly. We're led to believe that they are either manipulating the Cheerleader/Van Buren feud, or are just a couple of idiots. [[spoiler: It turned out Rachel gave every boy in school a blow job (except for Matthew, who doesn't have a penis) in order to win Prom Queen, and had the Cheerleaders and the Van Burens stopped feuding they may have noticed.]]
* UnusualEuphemism: Brittnay's use of "Growler", to refer to her [[DoubleEntendre vagina]].
* VillainousBreakdown: Mackenzie has one in the 13th episode when the crowning of prom queen is delayed by a dance routine from the football team.
-->'''Mackenize''': Get off my stage!
-->'''Matthew Deringer''': Uh now wait a min-
-->'''Mackenzie''': ''GETOFFMYSTAGE!!!''
* VillainProtagonist: Arguably Shay and Mackenzie both qualify, given that the majority of the series is about them trying to destroy one another and their respective groups for dominance in the school.
* TheVoice: Principle Nubbins.
* TheVonTropeFamily: The Van Burens.
* WebcomicTime: The first half of the first season takes place over the course of a day, with episodes being released a month apart. Lampshaded by Mackenzie:
-->'''Deandre''': Yeah, you cursed me out in the bathroom earlier today.
-->'''Mackenzie''': Oh my God, was that today? That seems like so long ago. Right, Trisha?
-->'''Trisha''': That was like literally hours ago.
* WhamEpisode: 31. [[spoiler: Jenna Darabond reveals that she's been playing everyone for saps for the last two seasons.]]
** [[spoiler: 58. Mackenzie has Jenna Darabond arrested and reveals ''she'' set everything up to have Cameron Van Buren break up Jenna's family by ''blowing up Brittnay's car'' so Brittnay would punch Jenna in the face and they'd have to go to a parent teacher conference. The football team wins the game, Brittnay has decided she's "done" with Mackenzie, and TANYA BERKOWITZ STABS JENNA DARABOND TO DEATH for burning down the Atchison Mall.]]
* WhamLine: In Episode 56, "[[spoiler: Yes, Brody from ''{{Series/Homeland}}'', what? Wha-wha-what?!]]"
** In Episode 58:
-->'''[[spoiler: Jenna]]''': Yeah, but [[spoiler: I didn't blow up Brittnay's car]]!
-->'''Mackenzie''': Oh I know, [[spoiler: Jenna... ''I'' did]].
* WorldOfHam
* XMeetsY: ''MeanGirls'' plus ''RobotChicken''.
