[[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin An animator is pitted against his creation, the Animation]].

That's this work in a nutshell. But the fun part? [[SequelEscalation The craziness that ensues goes on a higher level each new installment]]!

Created on AdobeFlash and posted on {{Newgrounds}} and Website/DeviantART by Alan Becker, aka [[http://noogai.newgrounds.com noogai]] (who, by now, is not at all a new guy).

!! This series provides examples of:

[[foldercontrol]]

[[folder: Animator VS Animation 1 ]]

* BadassNormal: Victim. At least, until [[SelfDuplication he starts cloning himself]].
* CombatPragmatist: Victim is this, much more so than his successor that appears in the sequels. To be fair, [[PhysicalGod noogai]] created this iteration of the Animation specifically for torture ([[MeaningfulName aptly naming it "victim"]]). It's only natural for this little guy to come up with some dirty tricks to fight back.
* SelfDuplication: Victim does this.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Animator VS Animation 2 ]]

* AmbiguousGender: The AIM icon. While the animator and The Chosen One are referred to as male in the artist description, AIM is never referred to with gendered pronouns.
* AnIcePerson: The Chosen One. He [[StealthPun freezes]] Mozilla Firefox with an ice-cold hand blast.
* TheBadGuyWins: The animator manages to enslave The Chosen One in the end.
* BeamOWar: Between the Adobe Photoshop icon and the Chosen One.
* BreadEggsBreadedEggs: The files in the Recycle Bin: "crap", "junk", and "crappy junk".
* EmpoweredBadassNormal: The Chosen One, due to the massive power boost the Animator gave him.
** Given the power that he has, the Animator ''really'' should've stopped at "Beast"...
* FreezeFrameBonus: The conversation between the Animator and the programmer.
* HighSpeedMissileDodge: The Chosen One does this.
* HisNameIs: The Animator's programmer friend was just about to reveal how to stop the Chosen One when AIM was killed.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: [[spoiler:AIM is killed when the Chosen One throws the open AIM window at him.]]
* ShockAndAwe: The Chosen One, again. Burns the Flash 8 icon with a storm cloud's lightning bolt.
* SerialEscalation: In-universe example; When the Animator goes over what power level to make the new Animation, he goes through "victim", "killer", "BEAST", and finally stops on "TheChosenOne".
* WreathedInFlames: When The Chosen One bursts through its restraints.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Animator VS Animation 3 ]]

* BulletSeed: The Chosen One eats a chunk of the Animator's essay and spits out letters (that coincidentally spelled out [[PublicSecretMessage "waddup"]]) at the Animator.
* BulletTime: The video uses this frequently.
* [[spoiler: DefeatMeansFriendship]]: [[spoiler: After The Chosen One defeated the Dark Lord, they teamed up to get revenge on the animator.]]
* EarthShatteringKaboom: One of these done by [[spoiler: the Dark Lord]] and The Chosen One [[spoiler: at the end]].
* EvilCounterpart: The Dark Lord, who possesses similar abilities to the Chosen One and is a red stick figure.
* EvilOverlord: Averted with the Dark Lord. He's actually TheDragon, and from the moment of his creation, it's pretty much established as such.
* GondorCallsForAid: The Dark Lord rallies the desktop icons to help fight the Chosen One.
* GroinAttack: Clippy's tornado attack with the letters does some of this.
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler: The Dark Lord.]]
** [[AlternateCharacterInterpretation On a more meta level]], the Animator. It's pretty clear that as villainous as he may be, he's pretty much defenseless and is merely trying to survive The Chosen One's RoaringRampageOfRevenge.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: [[spoiler:The Dark Lord and the desktop icons may have stood a better chance of winning had the Animator not left a game of Minesweeper open.]]
* [[spoiler: ScrewDestiny]]: The Dark Lord's very purpose in life was to destroy The Chosen One. [[spoiler: They eventually team up to get revenge on the animator.]]
* ShoutOut: Pitting together the Chosen One and the Dark Lord is, of course, one to Literature/HarryPotter.
* StuffBlowingUp: A Minesweeper game GoneHorriblyWrong.
* TookALevelInBadass: Mozilla Firefox. In 2, it was quickly subdued with an ice attack. Here, he does more damage.
* UnexplainedRecovery: AIM, who was killed in 2. Since then, it seems the Animator revived them, or he re-installed the program.
* [[spoiler: VillainousBSOD]]: [[spoiler: Literally. The Animator gets a blue screen of death at the end. And he's the BigBad to boot.]]
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse?: Clippy isn't seen again after he gets kicked out of Microsoft Word.
* ZergRush: The desktop icons gang up against the Chosen One.

[[folder: Mixed / All ]]

* AuthorAvatar: The Animator is, both literally and InUniverse, noogai.
* BadassNormal: AIM. Though [[spoiler:they end up getting killed]], they manage to hold their own against [[EmpoweredBadassNormal The Chosen One]] with nothing but their wit and paintbrushes.
* BigBad: The Animator, noogai himself.
* TheChosenOne: Used as a "difficulty level" for the Animation in 2 & 3. Parodied in 3, again through the Animation.
* {{Cyberspace}}: Pretty much where the series takes place. First, the Animation and Animator duke it out on the Flash program, [[InterfaceScrew causing a lot of damage to the interface]]. Then, in the latter 2 installments, the Animation [[UpToEleven hops out of Flash and wreaks havoc on the Animator's]] ''[[InterfaceScrew desktop]]''!
* AGodAmI: The Animator is pretty much thinking this, [[PhysicalGod if you consider the fact that he's supposed to be the one calling the shots, and literally the one who allows the computer (and anything on it) to run at all]].
* GagDub: By text-to-speech [[http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFC0FB6FB5F2A0234 programs]].
* ImprobableWeaponUser: AIM uses paintbrushes as weapons.
* ImprovisedWeapon: Both Victim and The Chosen One use whatever they can use on the desktop as weapons.
* MediumAwareness
* OrderVersusChaos: Simply put, BothSidesHaveAPoint. While Animator was explicitly villainous in the first episode, The Chosen One is pretty destructive even towards bystanders, and the Animator lets the violent little stick figure live (your mileage may vary whether this was a FateWorseThanDeath). Come episode three, The Chosen One throws the first punch, and Animator is simply trying to survive.
* PhysicalGod: [[AuthorPowers Noogai]], [[EmpoweredBadassNormal The Chosen One]] and [[TheRival The Dark Lord]] all have [[SuperpowerLottery god-like power]] [[RealityWarper in a way]] [[FlyingBrick or another]].
* PlayingWithFire: The Chosen One in 2 and 3, and the [[TheDragon Dark Lord]] in 3. Also, [[CaptainObvious Firefox]].
* SealedBadassInACan: The Chosen One at the [[spoiler: end of 2 and into the]] beginning of 3.
* StickFigureAnimation: Victim and his clones, the Chosen One, and the Dark Lord.
* RageAgainstTheAuthor: The entire premise is built on this.
* TheVoiceless: Everyone, with the exception of Clippy.
* RuleOfFunny: [[WordOfGod Noogai]] did these for comedy. It shows.
* RuleOfThree: [[CaptainObvious There are three installments]].
** However a fourth one [[http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1650065662/animator-vs-animation-iv-animated-short-film is planned]] with funding courtesy of {{Kickstarter}}.
