[[folder:The boys]]

[[WMG: Will has some sort of pheromone imbalance.]]
Why else would hot women [[KavorkaMan be attracted to him]] but other guys (apart from Simon, Jay and Neil of course) utterly hate him? It's primal.

[[WMG: As an adult, Will will have very little to do with his mother.]]
Well, he's not going to want to spend any more time than is strictly necessary with Mr. Gilbert, is he? Maybe this will extend to him not attending their wedding - after all, he didn't go to his father's second wedding. Perhaps this will help Will become more mature by forcing him to be more self-reliant and ridding him of his MommasBoy tendencies.

[[WMG: Jay is telling the truth]]
All of his crazy and obviously false stories about his sexual experiences? All of them, 100% true.
* [[FridgeHorror So he's a paedo who actually peed in a girls mouth?]]

[[WMG: Jay is a ChubbyChaser in the closet.]]
All of his vocal disgust at sleeping with a "fat" woman is just a front -- he's overcompensating to hide his embarrassment at how horny fat women make him. When he finally gets together with a woman who is even slightly chubby (in the first film), she dates him for a little while, finding him sweet when he's not trying to impress his friends. But then she dumps him (as we find out in the second film). Maybe she dumped him because he kept trying to convince her to gain ''more'' weight, probably while being as much of an asshole about it as he usually is.

[[WMG: Jay is an ArmoredClosetGay, or at the very least bisexual.]]
He has no problem with sticking his hand down Will's underpants in order to rub cream on his genitals (as a joke, but it's done in a public place). He also seems to have amorous feelings towards Simon, as evidenced by his attempts to derail things between him and Carli. This gets taken up to eleven once Simon gets into a relationship with Tara, culminating in the Warwick episode in which Jay gives Simon advice ''so bad'' that it doesn't just wreck the latter's chances of having sex, it immediately torpedoes the relationship. In TheMovie he seems sad that Simon is going off to uni without him.

[[WMG: Neil is an IdiotSavant.]]
While we all know that Neil is TheDitz, there are also [[HiddenDepths a few occasions where he's actually on the mark]], such as successfully predicting that the school would serve sausage rolls at Alistair's welcome back do and seemingly inadvertently pointing out the holes in Jay's BlatantLies before Will and Simon do.
* Some of his actions avert what would have been potentially very embarrassing situations for his friends, such as his drunken pass at a teacher at the school disco which distracts everyone from Simon's grand plan to profess his love for Carli, which would have resulted in him making a fool of himself in front of everyone.
* Also, whenever someone employs him, [[BunnyEarsLawyer he proves strangely competent]]; in the second movie, the bank he works for has given him a bonus for being "the cleverest non-Asian there". Evidently, he can function better in a practical sense than Will, who is academically clever but has NoSocialSkills.

[[WMG: Neil LikesOlderWomen because of his blind date experience.]]
He picks Suzy, who's only around 12 or 13 and is doing her A levels four years early, and is bitterly disappointed. After the lads follow him down to the fried chicken place and (presumably) take the piss out of him, he decides to never be caught out again, instead only going for those older than him. So much older, just to be sure.

[[WMG: Neil will end up getting off with his own mother.]]
His MissingMum was brought up a few times in Film/TheInbetweeners2, and he famously LikesOlderWomen. It's also likely he won't recognise her, because he's Neil.
* She did get him that bike for his birthday, so he's at least still in contact with her.

[[folder:Other characters]]

[[WMG: [[DeanBitterman Mr. Gilbert]] was once a WideEyedIdealist.]]
His years as a teacher have clearly left him weary and cynical to the point of turning a blind eye to the obvious bullying going on and the fact that one of his colleagues is a paedophile (for whom he routinely covers up).
* However, he may once have believed that he could make a difference to the lives of the young people he teaches. Too many students with a variety of annoying personalities, anti-social disorders and downright stupidity have worn his morale down to the point where he's just riding out his career until he can claim his pension.

[[WMG: Will's dad and Mr. Gilbert are bitter rivals.]]
* Why else would Gilbert be such an asshole to Will from the get go? Okay, Will's insults to Gilbert didn't help, but he was unnecessarily harsh to him for asking a genuine question. Gilbert furthers his revenge on Will's dad by shacking up with his ex-wife.

[[WMG: [[TheBully Donovan]] is an ArmoredClosetGay]]
His paranoid questions ("Are you staring at my cock?" "Are you looking at my arse, or something?") as well as his threat to Will about killing him if he reveals his HiddenHeartOfGold are classic signs of someone in fear of being outed and being ridiculously proactive in defence from it.
* There's definitely a whiff of homoeroticism about a group of boys in their mid-teens playing 'shirts-versus-skins' football. Lampshaded by Will.
-->'''Will:''' Chasing after a bunch of men with your top off? Can't get any gayer than that.
* Furthermore, he has a crush on Will, if his taking photos of Will on the toilet are any indication.
* This could be the reason why Charlotte dumped him - she clearly has a high sex drive and so would have figured him out pretty quickly; if so, her jibe about wanting a "real man" is directed as much at Donovan as it is at the obviously heterosexual but very inexperienced Will.

[[WMG: Chris Groves, the guy Jay mentions as being his friend in the year above, is also the "Football Friend"]]
What are the chances of Jay having ''more than one friend'' in the year above?

[[WMG: Carli's dad will be played by Anthony Head]]
Neither of her parents have been seen since the show's start, potentially developing for a massive [[TheReveal reveal]]. If she is indeed going to appear in the film, perhaps her dad will as well - played by Emily Head's real dad, Anthony Head.
** Actually, Carli's mother did appear in the show.
*** "Oi! He wants to suck your Carli's tits!!"
* Jossed by the movie. However, he does play Will's dad.

[[folder:Crossovers]]

[[WMG: Will is descended from the [[Series/{{Blackadder}} Blackadders]].]]
And Neil is a Baldrick. And Jay is from a hopeless cadet branch of the Flashhearts (descended from Mad Gerald, perhaps?).

[[WMG: ''The Inbetweeners'' is set in the same universe as ''Series/{{Spaced}}'' and ''Series/PhoneShop'']]
Furthermore, Simon's Dad, Derek from ''Spaced'' and Lance from ''[=PhoneShop=]'' are the same person.
* His comic store business collapsed after Bilbo poached Tim back. Needing to support his family, he got a job with the [=PhoneShop=] Group and ended up as the manager of the Sutton branch.
* His very high sex drive has led to him being in simultaneous relationships with two women in different parts of suburban London. His often being away from his family due to work is actually a cover story for spending time with Shelley. When he's with her, he maintains an air of general incompetence which is actually an act which can explain away any irregularities in his life that she might discover. He deliberately ensured that their wedding was not legally valid because he feared being prosecuted for bigamy were he to go through with an actual second marriage while still married to Simon's Mum (with whom, tellingly, he has had some marital difficulties). He doesn't want children with Shelley because he's already got two, and they're more than enough.

[[WMG: ''The Inbetweeners'' is set in the same universe as ''Series/HowIMetYourMother'', and Jay is related to Barney Stinson.]]
He's got an uncle in Australia so why not a distant cousin in the USA? Lying about your sexual conquests must run in the family...
* Being older, Barney is less obnoxious (or rather, he's learned to become obnoxious in a more charming way) and is much better at lying about his success with women -- in fact, he has learned to use his ability to lie to ''get'' women to sleep with him. Cousin Jay has much to learn!
* While he clearly has some knowledge of the [[TheBroCode Bro Code]] (providing a condom for Simon in "Caravan Club", etc), Jay is younger and more immature than his American cousin. This explains why he has no success with women (Jane excepted) and is useless when it comes to bragging/lying about his sexual prowess to his friends. Clearly, he needs to Suit Up!
* Barney is the beneficiary of considerably more favourable publicity than his English cousin. Many of Barney's lies in ''How I Met Your Mother'' are accepted as the truth only because they're presented in that way by Ted, the show's narrator who believes them to be true, or at least is prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt. Will, by contrast, doesn't believe much of what Jay says.
