[[WMG: The Four Horsemen are [[Myth/ClassicalMythology Greco-Roman gods]].]]
* Conquest is Apollo - He has a bow, he has a white horse, and if you adhere to the pestilence thingie, remember that Apollo sometimes sent plagues.
* War is of course Mars. Who else would it be if not a god of war itself?
* Famine (or Greed) could be Saturn or Pluto, both gods of wealth, though Saturn is supposed to live in Heaven/Olympus while Pluto lives in the underworld. Of course, Pluto is often conflated with Hades, so that's not entirely a certain match - but Saturn is still in the running for this one.
** Alternatively. Famine could be Ceres, the goddess of harvest. She once unintentionally caused a famine by neglecting her duties to find her daughter. Hey. [[SamusIsAGirl Just because they are horseMEN doesn't mean they have to be male.]]
* Death might potentially be anyone deadly since Hades follows, but the idea is that Hades as ruler of the underworld judges - so Death could be {{TheDragon}} or {{HellHound}}, Hades' chosen man. That could possibly be Orcus, punisher of broken oaths, a quite serious offense. However, what of the horse? A green horse could mean an agricultural diety, but might also be associated with water ("riding the sea-green foam"), so that could be Poseidon or Neptune instead - "flooding the earth" and "drowning the world" in the events of the end times.

[[WMG: The 4 Horsemen are video game characters.]]
* Death (the Pale Horseman) is [[Franchise/{{Halo}} John-117.]] Hence the 2 Halo songs "On A Pale Horse" and "Behold A Pale Horse", one of which plays during the flight section on "The Covenant" in Halo 3. [[FourIsDeath Yes,]] [[IncrediblyLamePun 117 is Death.]]
* War (the Red Horseman) is [[spoiler:the player character from ''VideoGame/NetHack'', according to the source code.]]
** Alternately, [[VideoGame/{{Civilization}} Sid Meier.]] That broody bloke from ''VideoGame/{{Darksiders}}'' might be in the running, too.
** Another option is Mario, Rider of the Red Yoshi.
* Civil War (the White Horseman) is [[VideoGame/StarCraft James Raynor]].
* And VideoGame/PacMan, who devours everything remotely edible in a region before moving on to the next, is Famine.

[[WMG: [[TabletopGame/{{Warhammer}} The Chaos Gods]] are the Four Horsemen.]]
* OK, so Khorne = War, Nurgle = Pestilence. Easy peasy. Assuming that we have Strife (or Satan) instead of Death, Tzeentch fits pretty well. And, er... [[EpilepticTrees Famine is the Horned Rat, who got sick of the others and went off to start his own religion, so they replaced him with an exchange student from the Anthropomorphic Personifications of the Seven Deadly Sins, Slaanesh = Lust]].
** Although having mentioned Skaven, [[MurderInc Eshin]] = Death, Pestilens = Pestilence, [[BiggerStick Skryre]] = War and [[TheSwarm Moulder]] = Famine works much better...
*** And how does [[Literature/{{Discworld}} Kaos]] fit in?
*** He doesn't, he's ''[[PhantasySpelling Kaos]]''.
** Alternately, if we're going by the horsemen that actually appear in Revelation, Slaanesh = Conquest, Khorne = War, Nurgle = Famine and well... In [[TarotMotifs Tarot]], the Death-card represents change, so Tzeentch is obviously Death.
** In the Fantasy setting, Archaon's HellishHorse has the name "The Steed of the Apocalypse". Meaning Archaon is basically supposed to fulfil the role of all four Horsemen at the same time...
** Or, if you go with Conquest replacing Death, Slaanesh is Famine (hungers for more than just food) and Tzeentch is Conquest (can't be a conqueror without a healthy overdose of [[AmbitionIsEvil Ambition]]). The other two are obvious.

[[WMG: The four horsemen are exactly that]]
Meaning a HalfHumanHybrid with horses.
* Centaurs?

[[WMG: [[Website/SCPFoundation The four horsemen will be replaced.]]]]
Dr. Bright said it himself: "Screw War, Famine , Death, and Pestilence, We've Got Clef, Fishmonger, Kondraki, and Bright!"
* But Fishmonger's gone, leaving...?

[[WMG: The identities of the horsemen.]]
** Conquest- Creator/ChuckNorris.
** Famine- Mr.T
** War- Creator/BruceLee
** Death- a minigun-weilding UsefulNotes/AbrahamLincoln
Alternately, Conquest is [[Series/MysteryScienceTheater3000 Hugh Beaumont]], War is Quentin Tarantino (deliberately producing films that incite people to violence), Famine is Gordon Gekko (he causes a massive economic recession), and Death is [[Film/FinalDestination Tony Todd]], accompanied by thousands of Phantasm- style silver spheres.
* Maybe they're famous historical figures
** Conquest-UsefulNotes/AlexanderTheGreat. Consider how much he took over in less than twenty years-the dude is basically the closest thing RealLife has to a MarySue.
** Famine-UsefulNotes/JosephStalin. He wasted away the population since AMillionIsAStatistic, and sent lots of people to the gulags. Yet he still was skilled enough to run the country.
** War-UsefulNotes/GenghisKhan. I think its obvious why he's here
** Death-UsefulNotes/TheodoreRoosevelt. After he died, he caught Death and [[DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu roundhouse kick him]], taking his place.

[[WMG: The Horsemen of the Apocalypse are, quite ironically, personifications of the aspects of life.]]
* Conquest is the first of them-it personifies the forces of natural selection and genetic programming that control the fates of all living organisms.
* Death is the second of them-it personifies life being converted back into inorganic substances for a new generation
* Famine is the third of them-it personifies an organism's eternal search for energy.
* War is the fourth of them-it personifies not just war over territory, but the natural aggression that all complex organisms must show against one another to survive
* Death, Famine and War are the children of Conquest. War and Famine are likely good friends, because much of the violence in the animal kingdom comes from a need for food.

[[WMG:Horseman of Conquest's Horse is a white haired White Skeletal Horse & Thanatos(Horseman of Death and pestilence)'s horse is a sickly yellow green Skeletal Horse with black hair swarming with flies.]]
After all the Bible never said '''what''' the first Horseman of the Apocalypse looked like just his horse and only the horse's color not whether it's skeletal or not or whether it's rider wore White or not for all we know he wears ''black'' robes instead of white and his bow is a crossbow. He may even be a Witch-King of Angmar, like demon or ghost (maybe even the original Witch King from Norse Myth who Tolkien based ''his'' Witch-King on: The Witch King Þrainn).

[[WMG:Hades is the fifth Horseman:The Horseman of the Underworld]]
He followed Thanatos didn't he?
* He's not given an official designation because [[DeathTakesAHoliday nobody can die during Revelations]]-Hades can't have anyone enter his domain. Death's future destruction [[HumiliationConga makes him even more anonymous.]]

[[WMG: The Four Horsemen are ideologies.]]
Conquest is [[TheEmpire imperialism]], War is [[ThoseWackyNazis fascism]], Famine is [[DirtyCommunists communism]], [[TomatoInTheMirror Death]] [[TakeThatUs is]] [[ChurchMilitant religious]] [[KnightTemplar fanaticism]].
