Five years ago, Kakeru Satsuki's older sister committed suicide. Since then, his right eye has become [[SupernaturalGoldEyes a shade of gold]], and he wears an [[EyepatchOfPower eyepatch]] to cover it. The only person he's friends with is his childhood friend Yuka and classmates Kaori and Tadashi. But inside, he has no interest in anything. While walking home with Yuka one day, the world suddenly changes. The [[RedSkyTakeWarning sky becomes red]], the [[WeirdMoon moon becomes black]] and {{Eldritch Abomination}}s called Larva roam the street. This is just the beginning of what is about to unfold.

A unique feature of the game is the Cross Vision mode, which allows the player to see events that have already happened from a different character's perspective. This is necessary, since Kakeru's narrative alone can't capture the whole story.

''11eyes -Sin, damnation and the atonement girl-'' is a VisualNovel released by Lass in early 2008. In early 2009, a second story was created, titled ''11eyes -The Story of Another side-''. The second story has an almost entirely new cast, and promotes minor characters like Shiori and Kaori to main character status. These two stories were grouped together into an UpdatedRerelease for the Xbox 360 titled ''11eyes [=CrossOver=]''.

The series also has a GaidenGame, ''11eyes -Resona Forma-''.

The game is a indirect sequel to ''3days'', an earlier novel. Several characters between the games are related.

An anime adaptation, covering ''Sin, damnation and the atonement girl'''s story, aired in the fall of 2009 and is [[http://theanimenetwork.com/Anime/11-Eyes/Watch now playing]] on the Creator/AnimeNetwork.

!!This visual novel provides examples of:

* AbusiveParent: Takahisa and Ema have the best trope from 11eyes. [[spoiler:His father abused sexually Ema, his younger sister. Their mother seemed caring in Takahisa's After Story but it implied that she did nothing to protect them in the past, which is probably the reason why Takahisa is so cold toward her during their meeting.]]
** Somehow in Misuzu's case. She thought her father was indifferent to she and her mother and exiled them after [[spoiler:Misuzu amputated him during a duel.]] However, in Misuzu's After Story, it's revealed that her father cared for her and their relationship improved.
* ActionGirl: Yukiko, Kusakabe, Kukuri.
* AffablyEvil: [[spoiler:Kanae. She could offer you a cup of tea and try to kill you afterward]].
* AlmostKiss: When Kakeru and Yuka think they're the only ones left the first time they enter the Red Night, this takes place. It's broken only by their sudden return to the real world. When Yuka tries it again, Takahisa arrives.
* AmbiguouslyEvil: In the anime, until it's revealed that [[spoiler:Liselotte is the true BigBad]], all of Black Knights can fit with this trope, due to their sadism toward Fragments, especially the ones who have a more important role like Ira or Superbia.
** Especially if we ignore the fact that the anime has really messed up everything. In the game, the Black Knights are more developed than in the anime and except their cruelty toward Fragments, they aren't really evil or even sadistic. Their background in Before Story arc shows all of them are even kind people (even if in Acedia's case, it's a bit uncertain).
* AntiMagic: Yuka's late blooming ability. Problem is, it cancels out her friends' powers too. She decides to call it "Hands of Glory". Though she doesn't actually know what that means...
** May count as a StealthPun, considering that a "Hand of Glory" was an obscure piece of magical folklore: A talisman made from the hand of a hanged man, used by burglars to keep the members of the household from waking up.
* AManIsNotAVirgin: Or a woman, if some of Misuzu's dialogue is anything to go by.
* ArtificialHuman: [[spoiler:Shiori. Although in truth she was born a human, but her family line is cursed with weak bodies and have no eyes, so to accomplish her missions she is given a artificial body.]]
** [[spoiler: Benedictus and Scholastica too, as they are from Shiori's same family line, even if Scholastica is a real hologram. Georgius is one too but in a lesser extent]].
* BathSuicide: Kukuri's death.
* BattleCouple: Misuzu and Kakeru (literally if her route is chosen) as well as Yukiko and Takahisa in the game.
** In Before Story, there are many example of this during the battle. The literal examples are Georgius and Misao (toward the end) and Sebastianus and Irene.
** Samson and Misao can somehow works [[spoiler:as Samson is in love with her]] but isn't really a couple. Subverted with Benedictus and Scholastica who are more a SiblingTeam.
* BeethovenWasAnAlienSpy: Major revolutions in history, like the two World Wars, the French and Russian Revolutions, etc., were caused by Liselotte Werckmeister. Liselotte was even an acquaintance of Hitler.
** Famous holders of the Eye of Aeon include Teucer, Cyrus the Great, Rollo and Solomon.
* BerserkButton: Takahisa's gets pressed early on in episode 9.
** Kakeru seems to lose it when [[spoiler: Yukiko is killed in front of him.]]
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Kukuri, at the end of the game, you'll see some explanation for who is the most powerful of the cast.
** Applies to Yukiko later on.
* BigBad: You'd think it was [[spoiler: the Dark Knights,]] but in actuality, [[spoiler: it's the girl in the crystal.]]
* {{Big Brother instinct}}: If her route isn't chosen, Yuka could be viewed as one. Not in the anime however, as Kakeru is in love with her.
** In the game "Resona Forma" There are two examples of this trope:
*** In Takahisa After Story, Takahisa towards Ema. It's revealed the reason why he ran away from his family was because he burnt alive his father who abused Ema sexually. He also ran away from her for her safety. When they reunited, he acted as an overprotective brother towards her again and had been furious when he thought Kakeru was interested in Ema.
*** In Before Story, there is Benedictus, one of apostles. He seems to be an {{Aloof Big Brother}} to his younger sister Scholastica. Even under his Acedia's form, he became enraged when [[spoiler:she is cut off by Misuzu in the game.]] Misao had also this role toward Scholastica even if she isn't related to her.
** Kukuri of course. She could smash you with a car if you touch Kakeru. In the game it's possible that [[spoiler:she was this way with her younger brother in her parallel world. She actually went berserk when she learned that he died and killed the scientists charged with his death]].
* BigDamnHeroes: Almost all of the main characters invoke it at least once when saving their friends from the Dark Knights.
* BigEater: Takahisa.
* BittersweetEnding: by the end of the anime [[spoiler: Yukiko, Takahisa, Shiori and Saiko are dead. Even if they seem to be alive, those are not the same characters as the ones we're familiar with. But at least Liselotte is defeated.]]
* BleachedUnderpants: Applies to ''[=CrossOver=]'' and the anime (mostly).
* BodyHorror: When Misuzu uses her strongest blade it harms her by sticking needles into her flesh.
* BreakTheCutie: There are a lot of examples in 11eyes universe. So:
** Shiori when [[spoiler:Kukuri stabbed her after her battle against Avaritia]].
** [[spoiler:Lisette of course. The crusade made her mentally broken and her meeting with Michel Maximilian didn't make her better. That's one of the most harsh scenes into 11eyes.]]
** Scholastica [[spoiler:in the anime where Shiori killed her. In the game, there is her torture scene by tentacles.]]
** Irene [[spoiler: when she thought Sebastianus was alive, her body is ripped off.]]
** Yuka somehow or other in the game. [[spoiler:After Kakeru discovered that she created a false world, she was absorbed by Liselotte. Although he didn't love Yuka, this scene was very sad.]]
* BreakTheHaughty: Kanae toward the ending of Crossover.
** Misuzu in the anime, after having learnt the truth about Fragments.
*** Also the scene [[spoiler: where Kakeru rejected her love as he loves Yuka.]]
* BrokenBird: Practically all of the main female characters. Some are worse than others, but they all have a tragic backstory.
* BromanticFoil: Tadashi. He never gets involved in the plot in any meaningful way, and is the ButtMonkey of the story. In ''Story of Another side'', that changes a bit.
* {{BrotherSisterIncest}}: Kukuri of course. Subverted in the anime, but in the game she has her own route, which is also actually the True Ending of 11eyes, however in Resona Forma [[spoiler:Kukuri is from another world and it is revealed that they aren't related.]]
** In Before Story, there wasn't really any incest between Benedictus and Scholastica but it's invoked when [[spoiler:Liselotte forced Benedictus to rape Scholastica in an illusion]].
* TheBrute: Gula, one of the Black Knights. He uses a massive club and attacks with strength alone. However, he is the first to fall.
* ButNotTooForeign: Yukiko
* Canon: A lot of fans found Misuzu a lot better match than Yuka, as she isn't a ClingyJealousGirl and a crazy {{Yandere}}. In the game, there is Kakeru × Shiori which is viewed as canon.
* CatSmile: Yukiko displays one occasionally, usually when groping the other girls.
* CharacterDevelopment: Takahisa who was originally a Jerkass became more a JerkWithAHeartOfGold later and even became one of the most sympathetic characters from the anime.
** Lisette who was actually [[spoiler:The BigBad]] seems more sympathetic after everything she endured during the crusade and became even one of the most popular girl after her role in her If Story. Verard seems nicer in If Story than in the original.
** If you didn't have sympathy for Black Knights, you'll have it after having played to Before Story.
* ChildSoldiers: Yukiko
* ClingyJealousGirl: Yuka. [[spoiler:She actually imposes a [[TheFinalTemptation Final Temptation]] on Kakeru out of jealousy. Hands of Glory isn't her true power.]]
** By episode 9, she's well on her way to becoming a {{yandere}}.
* ClubPresident: Yukiko creates the Modern Society Studies Club and ends up roping every one of the chosen ones into it.
* ContinuityNod: Misuzu is descended from Ryuuichi Kusukabe, a character who first appeared in ''3days''. Yukiko makes a reference to Tsukiko, her older sister, who also appeared in ''3days''.
* ConvenientlyAnOrphan: Everyone, to a degree, though Misuzu's mother is still alive and Yuka is living with a nice adopted mother and father. Takahisa is a SelfMadeOrphan. Life was not kind to the six chosen ones.
* CoolBigSis: Kukuri
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadAss: Yukiko seems like a ditz most of the time, [[spoiler: until the glasses come off.]]
* CrystalPrison
* CursedWithAwesome: Kakeru and his eye's ability to see future events. It plays a big role in stopping the BigBad in episode 12.
* CuteMute: Kukuri.
** In a less cute way - Lisette in the introduction, when her throat was torn and she was trying to scream.
* DamselInDistress: Yuka. There is also Shione in Crossover.
** Subverted with [[spoiler:Lisette, who turns out to be SealedEvilInACan]].
* DarkActionGirl: Pretty much all the female Dark Knights.
* DarkChick: Superbia, Invidia.
* DarkIsNotEvil: [[spoiler:The Black Knights]].
* DarkWorld: The Red Night.
* DeathByOriginStory: Kukuri. [[spoiler:Turns out she's still alive]]
* DeclarationOfProtection: Kakeru's motivation for learning how to fight and protect Yuka.
** Interestingly, Yuka gender-flips this trope when invoking it on Kakeru later in the anime.
* DeusSexMachina: [[spoiler:The seal on Shiori's body can be removed by these means]]. Misuzu also explains that it's a way to transfer power among the Kusakabe, and Kakeru does have some Kusakabe blood in him.
* DissonantSerenity: In the anime, Yuka becomes increasingly calm as the tension rises.
* {{Doppelganger}}: Kukuri Tachibana looks exactly like (and has the same name as) Kakeru's sister Kukuri. In the Xbox 360 version, a real doppelganger is a sub-boss.
* DoubleStandardAbuseFemaleOnMale: Kaori on Tadashi.
* DownerEnding: [[spoiler: Episode 11 in the anime, also a case of TheBadGuyWins. Averted if you continue onto episode 12]].
* DrivenToSuicide: Kakeru's sister in the very beginning. [[spoiler: Turns out there are parallel worlds, and in at least two of them, Kakeru's sister, Kukuri, knew about Liselotte's plan, which needed Kakeru's golden eye to succeed. So in one world, she had the spirit of Abraxas, which had a chain whip attack, which she used to kill him, then herself. But that world didn't have the golden eye, and instead the Kakeru in Yuka's universe/world had it, while Abraxas didn't exist in that version of Kukuri. So instead of killing both of them, Kukuri in Yuka's world only killed herself since she lacked the chain-whip attack of Abraxas. Yeah, it's kind of confusing.]]
* EarlyBirdCameo: Early on in the anime, you can see at least one instance of a pillar of flame lighting up in the background while Kakeru/Yuka are in the Red Night area. Takahisa can also be seen in the school and in the Red Night area, but we're not introduced to him properly until about episode 4.
* EarnYourHappyEnding: [[spoiler: Episode 12 can be viewed as this. Episode 11 can be considered "the bad ending", and is probably what Kakeru saw at the beginning of episode 12 had he done what he did in episode 11, where everyone ends up dying]].
* EldritchLocation
* EnemyMine: [[spoiler: After learning the truth about Liselotte, the girl trapped in the crystal, the main characters help the surviving Dark Knights to fight Liselotte. They fail in episode 11, but succeed in 12]].
* EpicFlail: Kukuri's guardian angel, Abraxas, wields some wicked maces. Abraxas is also a case of ChainedByFashion.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Liselotte is very lovey-dovey toward Verard. [[spoiler:Subverted finally in the anime, where she refuses to listen to him]].
** Nearly all the Black Knights [[spoiler:even though they actually aren't evil]] have a lot of examples of this in the game.
** Superbia loves Avaritia from the bottom of her heart and it's the reason why she accompanied the others in the mission.
** In the game, Invidia can be really cruel but she is actually in love with Ira. [[spoiler:And she breaks down when he's killed, Subverted in the anime, where she doesn't give a damn about his death]].
** It's also hinted enough that Acedia cares about his younger sister a lot [[spoiler:and he is furious when she is killed]].
** Kanae seems really admire Liselotte and supports her but their relationship is still complicated.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Kanae in Crossover. Although she is actually [[spoiler:the Mastermind behind Crossover's events, she doesn't want Liselotte to destroy the world. However, her goal is to suppress every form of magic in the world so that Thule could dominate the world. So her goal isn't really more enjoyable than Liselotte's]].
* EvilTowerOfOminousness: Landmark Tower in the real world is replaced by six pillars where the Black Knights reside.
* {{Expy}} - Lieselotte strikingly resembles Suigintou from {{Rozen Maiden}}. Kakeru Satsuki bears more than a passing semblance to Minato Arisato from {{Persona3}}. And someone capitalized on the fact that Misuzu resembles Mitsuru, and came up with [[http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/483699 this.]] ('''Warning Danbooru link''')
* EyepatchOfPower: To cover Kakeru's heterochromia
* FateWorseThanDeath: Lisette's fate is the best example of 11eyes. And even the death is impossible for her.
* FanserviceWithASmile: There's the entire ongoing subplot to get everyone who's not Yukiko into the outfits of Cyberiada, the cafe where Kakeru and Yukiko work. It ends up succeeding.
* FanWebcomic: Pixiv user Zouazarashi drew fancomics featuring the Black Knights around the time of the game's debut, and is now [[PromotedFanboy drawing them for the anime's website]]. The Black Knights act a lot goofier in these than they do normally.
* FirstNameBasis: Yuka worries about this between Kakeru and Misuzu in the anime, noting a change in dynamics between them.
* GenkiGirl: Yukiko Hirohara. Kaori is the one from Crossover.
* GoodIsNotNice: Yuka at the end of the anime. It's however kinda subverted in the game. Can be applied to Takahisa at the beginning.
** Somehow Shuu in Crossover but he had a good reason to be so cold toward everyone.
** Can be applied to [[spoiler:the Black Knights. They want to save the world but their actions toward Fragments aren't really viewed as good.]]
* GoryDiscretionShot: Played straight for many of the characters that get killed. [[spoiler: Strangely averted for Yukiko, we get to see Superbia rip the fragment out of her, and get to hear her scream and die. Probably why Kakeru loses it and charges Superbia before Yuka "intervenes"]].
* GottaKillThemAll: The Black Knights appear to have this goal for the heroes. [[spoiler:The reason is because each of them (except for Kakeru) holds [[SoulJar a fragment of Liselotte's soul]] or to be exact, a smaller fragment of Liselotte's fragment of the Emerald Tablet]].
* [[GratuitousForeignLanguage Gratuitous Hungarian]]: In the anime version; the most noticeable location being the episode titles, which get worse every episode. The opening narration though is really good, thanks to being voiced by a Hungarian, András Faragó. Which begs the question why no one asked for his opinion on the translations.
** There's also a bit of GratuitousItalian in episode four when Tadashi is trying to get close to Shiori and failing horribly.
* GreyandGrayMorality: In the visual novel, it's shown that no character is truly good or evil. Actually, It looked like a BlackAndWhiteMorality first but the Black Knights weren't all bad actually, and some of them had a particular goal to act like this toward Fragments and still kept some human qualities. Furthermore, even Liselotte isn't all bad either.
* HealingFactor: Yukiko shrugs off some pretty serious damage during the course of events. That she was a child soldier who had this ability exploited really reveals what she's gone through.
* HealingHands: Another of Kukuri's powers. She even equates it to an RPG.
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler: Velad in episode 12, after seeing Kakeru talk about how there can be hope for a better future, and ends up helping to banish Liselotte]].
* HeroicBSOD: [[NotSoStoic Misuzu]], after [[spoiler: she learns the truth about the Fragments]].
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler: Avaritia holds Liselotte from behind in episode 12 to ensure that she gets banished to an alternate dimension where she hopefully can't escape. Unfortunately he gets sucked in as well]].
** Subverted with Sebastianus in Before Story. It's a StupidSacrifice but heroic anyway.
* HotForStudent: Saiko-sensei, the school nurse, who smokes, drinks and is frequently sniffing around for virgins. Kakeru wonders how she became the nurse in the first place.
* HumansAreBastards: Liselotte's motivation for wanting to KillEmAll.
* ICannotSelfTerminate: [[spoiler:When Takahisa starts to lose control of himself, he asks Yukiko to kill him]].
** Lisette [[spoiler:before the final battle, begs for Kakeru to kill her]].
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: Yukiko does this a couple of times, has it happen to her as well, and later [[spoiler: a possessed Yuka does it to Kakeru in episode 11]].
* InstantRunes: Acedia, Yuka, Misuzu, and [[spoiler:Shiori]].
* IKnowYouAreInThereSomewhereFight: Kakeru to Liselotte in her final CrossVision view. "Lisette Weltall!" "No, I'm Liselotte Werckmeister--" "Lisette Weltall! Listen to me!"
* IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: In episode 11, after learning Yuka may still be alive, Kakeru vows to find her. Then Misuzu mentions this trope in her mind.
** It's subverted in Yuka's case.
* {{Jerkass}}: In the anime, there is Yuka who is surely a real BitchInSheepsClothing toward the end. [[spoiler:She was nice at the beginning, but finally when the madness leads her towards {{Yandere}}, she didn't care for Yukiko or Takahisa when they are killed and tried to kill Misuzu herself. She even freed Liselotte herself to have Kakeru for herself. And she still ends up with Kakeru though]]. Subverted in the game.
** In the anime, there is Takahisa but is actually a JerkWithAHeartOfGold.
** In the game, Verard could be viewed as one at the beginning. He improves however.
** In Before Story, there is the Thule member Fu Manchu. Benedictus could be viewed as one too. However, he somehow improves toward the end.
** Shuu in Crossover isn't really a Jerkass but he has a Jerkass moment when he rejected Shione. However, he had his own reasons.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Takahisa acts cold towards most people, but he does save them occasionally in the other world.
** Shuu is one. He can be cold toward people much to Mio's anger but he is very loyal toward his friends and would be able to protect people he holds dearly.
** Verard. He's a saint toward Lisette in If Story.
** Georgius although [[spoiler:he unwillingly sacrificed his comrades in the battle. He is really a good person and accepts every people even if they haven't the same belief]].
** Benedictus is a Jerkass but he really loves his father and although he isn't always kind toward Scholastica, he cares for her and tries to protect her during serious moments.
** Sophia isn't a JerkWithAHeartOfGold but has more a HiddenHeartOfGold as she tries to persuade Shiori she isn't a kind person.
* JerkWithAHeartOfJerk: Johanna. [[spoiler: She only saved Shiori in her trial because she was just viewed as interesting. To Johanna, it's really a miracle.]]
* KarmaHoudini: Incoming apocalypse be damned, how can someone get away with brutally murdering three of the most sympathetic characters, one of whom was completely innocent. Well, [[spoiler: Misao]] managed to pull it off somehow.
** Despite becoming overly clingy, putting a razor blade in another of the cast's tea and willingly unleashing the BigBad, [[spoiler: Yuka]] somehow gets out of punishment without one single character calling [[spoiler: her]] out.
** [[spoiler:Michel Maximilian. He is the one who transformed Lisette into Liselotte and yet, Nobody knows what's happened to him and he doesn't seem to have paid the price for his actions]].
* KillEmAll: The bad ending. It rivals [[Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion End of Evangelion]] but is revealed to only be a possible scenario.
* LightIsNotGood: [[spoiler: The girl in white trapped in the crystal seems like an innocent person, but in actuality she's Liselotte, a pretty evil person bent on destroying all of mankind due to losing her lover. Doesn't help that the Dark Knights look evil and continually attack the main characters without bothering to tell them why]].
** Can be applied to [[spoiler:Johanna. She is supposed to be the Pope of Index but she is far from being a saint as she actually willingly sent the Punishement Squad to their deaths in the battle against Liselotte. Her real role is watching the events and Sophia herself even calls her a sadist]].
* LittleMissBadass: Yukiko, when [[TheGlassesComeOff she takes her glasses off]].
* LittleMissSnarker: Shiori Momono, a returnee from Italy. Frequently wishes death on Tadashi. Then again, so does Kaori, but in a much more physically violent manner.
* LovecraftianSuperpower: The strongest of Misuzu's blades has some elements of this, including being powered by her own life force, that proves why she doesn't use it very often.
* LoveMakesYouEvil: Liselotte. Although she was already evil before, her meet with Verard and his death makes her a lot crazier.
** Yuka in the anime somehow. She isn't actually evil, but she became crazy {{Yandere}} when she thought Kakeru and Misuzu were lovers.
** [[spoiler:Superbia, although she isn't really evil. However, unlike her lover Avaritia, she could kill you in a gory manner without any regrets]].
* LoveTriangle: More than just a triangle in 11eyes game. In the anime, it's however limited to Kakeru, Yuka and Misuzu.
* LoveYouAndEverybody: Done by Kakeru.
* {{Magitek}}: Syu, the protagonist of ''[=CrossOver=]'''s new story, makes use of this, as he's been seen casting Instant Runes from his cell phone.
* MergedReality
* MoodWhiplash: "Kakeru-kun, I've made you lunch and FREAKY MASK BLOBS!!"
* MultipleEndings: [[spoiler: Interestingly, episode 11 is a "What if" bad ending, and is pretty damn depressing. Episode 12 can be viewed as an "alternate/happy" ending, or maybe at the start of episode 12, Kakeru used his foresight ability to see what would happen in episode 11 if he took the action he did in trying to save Yuka]].
* MySisterIsOffLimits: In Yukiko's after story, Ema's thanking Kakeru for all the help in getting the school festival ready. Takahisa becomes furious.
* NiceHat: Kukuri wears one.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: [[spoiler:After all but two of the Black Knights are defeated, it turns out they were the ones who were trying to stop the world from ending, not cause it]].
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: [[spoiler: After the Dark Knights take the fragment out of Yukiko, Yuka suddenly shows up and throws it into the crystal seal holding the witch. So from the POV of the Dark Knights, the "bad guys" just released the BigBad, while from Yuka's POV, she was helping to release an innocent person, and also, "protecting" Kakeru since the Dark Knights were attacking him]].
* NotWhatItLooksLike: In episode six of the anime, Yuka walks in on Kakeru and Misuzu in what looks to be a compromising position. Some IntimateHealing was involved after the Eye of Aeon was used for the first time.
* OfficialCouple: Unless her route is chosen, Yukiko and Takahisa end up together. Tadashi and Kaori become one in Resona forma.
** In Before Story, Sebastianus and Irene. And in If Story, Verard and Lisette.
** Not really in Kakeru's case, as the couple is official according to the player's choice in the game. However, in the anime, Yuka and Kakeru end up together and in the manga, he ends up with Misuzu.
* OminousLatinChanting: The OP ("Lunatic Tears...") has ominous chanting of the SevenDeadlySins. Until it's revealed that these are, in fact, the names of the Black Knights. ThemeNaming runs among them. Ominous Chanting is present in ''[=CrossOver=]'''s OP ("Endless Tears...") and the anime's OP ("Arrival of Tears") as well.
* OneManArmy: Verard. Though he has some help for the second one.
* OnTheNextEpisodeOfCatchphrase: "Is there an answer at the end of the nightmare?"
* OralFixation: Takahisa always has something in his mouth, be it a cigarette or food.
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent
* PaintItBlack: [[spoiler: Lisette's outfit turns from white to black when she becomes Liselotte.]]
* PantyShot: Yuka has the most, though the other girls aren't immune.
* {{Pet The Dog}}: A lot of characters have a PetTheDog moment:
** First, there is Takahisa who appeared at the beginning as a real jerkass toward Kakeru and his friends. However, he is really sweet and friendly toward Yukiko and supports her despite her being a cold-blood killer.
** Shiori has one, with a cat.
** In the game, there is Verard. He wanted for the destruction of the world and thought it deserved to be destroyed. However, in his If Story, he shows his true love toward Lisette, saving her from being raped by killing 90,000 crusaders for her sake.
** Sophia in Shiori After Story. She is actually a Mad Scientist but she really cares for Shiori as her daughter.
** Nearly all Black Knights have a PetTheDog moment. Superbia in the anime is cruel as hell toward the Fragments but she really loves Avaritia. In Before Story, she also has a PetTheDog with Scholastica when she taught origami to her.
** In Before Story, Georgius can be cold at times but he seems really care for his comrades.
** In Before Story, Benedictus is shown as unsympathetic by his Jerkass nature at times. However, he really cares for his younger sister and tried to save her somehow in the battle. He also has one with his father at the beginning.
** Johanna has a PetTheDog moment toward Shiori After Story's end as she decided to [[spoiler:help Shiori in her trial. However it's kinda subverted as she only did it because she found her as a very interesting individual. She is still a monster though]].
** Kanae has many examples [[spoiler:although she still the BigBad from Crossover]]. At times, she answers to students's questions when she is in the library, as she did for Shuu when he searched for Doppelganger. She also has a PetTheDog moment with a cat during a meeting with Shuu.
* PinchMe: [[spoiler:Episode 11 is what might have happened had Kakeru not been prepared. His vision comes to an end just after the credits, leading to him snapping back into action]].
* PhantomZone: Time comes to a halt during the Red Night, and any property damage that occurs there doesn't transfer back to the real world.
* PlayingWithFire: Takahisa
* QuirkyMinibossSquad: The Black Knights, with Avarita functioning as TheDragon.
* RapeAsDrama: In every case where this is shown, it leads to drama for the character. Lisette can say this very well [[spoiler:after having been captured by crusaders who destroyed her village, she is raped by them many times and nearly killed. That event leads her to her hatred for the world as well as her transformation in Liselotte.]]
** Ema, Takahisa's sister [[spoiler:is said to have been raped by her abusive father. It lead to Takahisa to burning him alive then living in street where he fortunately met Saiko who took him under her wing]].
** In Before Story [[spoiler: Benedictus is forced to see tentacles growing from his own body which raped his sister Scholastica before tearing her apart. It made Benedictus mad and apparently lead to his own death.]]
* RedemptionEqualsDeath: Verard could be viewed as one. [[spoiler:He spent all the time to wish the destruction of the world and is charged of Liselotte's actions. Even if he was already died, he helped Kakeru through Eye of Aeon to fight her before the Eye is absorbed by Demiourgos. In If Story, he came back to the past to protect Lisette from her fate too and died afterward]].
* RedOni,BlueOni: Takahisa is the former while Ema is the latter.
** Ira as red to Acedia as blue (even if in Before story, the latter is more red).
* RedSkyTakeWarning
* {{Ruritania}}: The nation of Drasuvania, which figures into the backstories of Verard and Yukiko.
* {{SayMyName}}: Yuka says Kakeru's name. '''A LOT'''.
* ScaledUp: For the final battle, Avaritia turns into a giant black dragon.
* ScarsAreForever: Invidia
* SchoolFestival: Putting on one is a major subplot in Yukiko and Takahisa's after stories in ''Resona Forma''.
* SchoolNurse: Saiko-sensei. Though with her smoking and chasing after students, she's not very good at the job.
* ScrewDestiny
* SenseiChan: Saiko-sensei.
* SevenDeadlySins: A very prominent motif in the story.
* ShipperOnDeck: Saiko, the nurse, seems a bit too interested in trying to hook up Kakeru and Yuka. She gets mad at Takihasa when he didn't come home, until she thinks he spent the night with Yukiko, then seems okay with it, much to his dismay.
* ShoutOut: There is a room full of shout outs in the visual novel. Here's the image [[http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/253313]].
* ShutUpHannibal
* SiblingYinYang: Takahisa and Ema. And Benedictus and Scholastica (Acedia siblings) in Before Story.
* SimultaneousArcs: Essentially what Cross Vision does.
* SleepCute: After the first Red Night, Kakeru decides to stay at Yuka's house. She holds his hand as they sleep beside each other. Aww...
* SplitPersonality: When Yukiko [[TheGlassesComeOff removes her glasses]], she goes from a genki girl to an emotionless, cold blooded KnifeNut.
* StepfordSmiler: [[spoiler:Yukiko]]
* StopOrIShootMyself: In episode 12, Kakeru, having forseen the future had he done what he intended in episode 11, instead threatened to commit suicide, and thereby killed the lover Liselotte was trying to meet up with again.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: Misuzu. Can be applied to Verard in If Story.
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: Known specifically as the Eye of Aeon, it allows Kakeru to see the future. The real value of the eye is that it allows the user to assimilate previous users' experience, memories and above all, to see different possibilities of the future and realize the one that the user desires.
* TakeAThirdOption: Instead of trying to do the episode 11 Bad End plot, Kakeru pretty much stabs himself in episode 12. It ends up working and he recovers later.
* TakingYouWithMe: Invidia plans to kill everyone in Kakeru's gang by exploding herself, but she fails due to [[spoiler:Yuka's power awakening]].
* TalkingInYourDreams: Verard, a knight with the same kind of heterochromia s as Kakeru, appears in his dreams every time that the Red Night occurs.
* TalkingWithSigns: Kukuri Tachibana. Scholastica did it too in Before Story.
* Team-Papa: Samson in Before Story. Georgius could be one too but to a lesser degree.
* TearsOfBlood: Kakeru, usually when weird supernatural stuff starts happening.
* ThemeTuneCameo: Kakeru's ringtone is a midi version of the OP. Yuka's cell has the ED.
* TrueCompanions: "For our friends and tomorrow!"
* {{Tsundere}}: Mio from Crossover. Misuzu could also be viewed as one, but she is more of a {{kuudere}}. Kaori is one toward Tadashi.
* UnluckyChildhoodFriend: Yuka and Kakeru, Tadashi and Kaori.
* UnstoppableRage: [[spoiler:Takahisa after Saiko is killed. He asks for a MercyKill from Yukiko while he's still himself]].
* VillainousFriendship: Between the Black Knights [[spoiler:although they aren't the BadGuys]] Avaritia and Superbia are the Type I in the anime,as Avaritia protected Superbia from Shiori's attack. However it's kinda subverted [[spoiler:as Avaritia is really TheDragon and Liselotte is really the BigBad]].
** In Crossover, Kanae and Liselotte who were Thule Members are type III. Kanae really admires Liselotte [[spoiler:although she doesn't want her to destroy the world]] but Liselotte didn't care for her and was just interested in the destruction.
** However, between Liselotte and Fu Manchu are more or less the type IV. Liselotte as for Kanae saw just Fu Manchu as a pawn for her destruction of the world and Fu Manchu in return mocked openly Liselotte and even [[spoiler:revealed her intentions to Georgius]].
** Between Liselotte and Walter, the main antagonist of 3days, a prequel of 11eyes, have a relationship which could be more of Type IV but Liselotte [[spoiler:after having discovered that Walter was the only one who infiltrated the Index Underground Library]] gained some respect to him and their relationship could be viewed as type II as Walter thinks Liselotte as weak and would like to be Thule's leader instead of her.
* ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend: Misuzu can be viewed as one to Kakeru although she isn't really his girlfriend. Yuka is one somehow.
* WeirdMoon: The moon is black, three times larger than normal, and once Kakeru and Yuka leave the strange otherworld, still visible.
* WhamEpisode: Episode 9. Things are not the same any more for the main characters after that.
* WhatTheHellHero: Interesting trope for this series. [[spoiler: Turns out that the main characters are actually "the bad guys", and the Dark Knights are the "good" ones, trying to keep the evil witch from achieving her goal to collect the fragments within the main characters and destroy humanity. However, a lot of it probably could have been avoided, had the Dark Knights not attacked them and continually told them "we need to kill you", which justified the main characters in defending themselves and killing the Dark Knights, so this trope applies to both sides if you think about it]].
* WhenAllYouHaveIsAHammer: Takahisa's method of fighting is with fire, since that's all he has in the Red Night area.
* WhipSword: Invidia. It resembles a human spine.
* WhoWantsToLiveForever?: [[spoiler:Lisette/Liselotte, because of [[CycleOfRevenge what she went through in the Crusades]], became immortal, [[LoveMakesYouEvil fell in love with Verard]], went crazy when he died and then [[TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt decided to wipe out all of humanity]]]].
* WhiteGloves: Misuzu, when she's not using her powers.
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: Liselotte, or rather, Lisette. After what she's gone through in the Crusade...
* {{Yandere}}: Yuka. Specifically, episode 10 of the anime, [[spoiler: with her handing that cup of tea to Misuzu with the razor blade at the bottom of it, and how she corrects Kakeru gently about using Misuzu's ''last'' name]].
** In the game, Yuka even [[spoiler:tried to make a world where Kakeru knows just herself]]. However, in this case, she is more a dorodere case as [[spoiler:she especially hated herself for her orphanage's event. Her personality was a bit different from the anime]].
* ZettaiRyouiki: Yuka, Shiori, Yukiko, and Kaori.
