And the woman goes ahead with giving the daughter exactly what she needs. She later ends up developing feelings for this man herself, so she uses magic to become conventionally attractive and tries to be with him. For trying to do this, she ends up getting abused by several animals including birds divebombing her and a dog biting her butt, even though the daughter never would have been with this man in the first place without her help. When the magic wears off and she returns to her normal appearance, meaning she no longer has a chance with this man, she correctly identifies that the daughter has not met the terms of their agreement. The father, the aforementioned irrational leader, finally does something noble and takes the fall for his daughter which allows the woman to finally be the leader she should have been from the beginning. The daughter, enraged, manipulates this woman into accidentally killing the only two friends she had throughout the entire story. The woman then gets angry and tries to fight back, but gets stabbed through the gut and killed by the man who only liked her when she was conventionally attractive. In the end, he was forced to detach himself from her and begin preparations for the mission, but learned beforehand of a future defeat by a native child of the planet and was unwilling to allow that to happen, and so he pushed mission twenty years earlier. This turns out to be a mistake as he is then attacked by the young ancestor of his parents and his friends. Willingly, they use the powers of his people against the army and, in the final battle, despite a kind attempt to spare him as an act of gracefulness towards their family, the ancestor and friend cruelly used a precious song of his beloved mother against him. The maternal love in the lyrics shines through despite attempted detachment.
