Describe ''Today I Die'' here.

Well, we could, but it would ruin the experience for you, and it doesn't take that long to play. So [[http://ludomancy.com/today/index.html?lang=en why not try it first]], then come back here?

A game by Daniel Benmergui that uses pixelated metaphors and morphing poetry to explore the journey back from the brink of suicidal depression, aided by an excellent soundtrack by Hernan Rozenwasser. Winner of the Nuovo award from the Independent Games Festival.

Benmergui has also created ''[[http://www.kongregate.com/games/danielben/i-wish-i-were-the-moon I Wish I Were The Moon]]'', an experimental game very loosely based on the short story "The Distance of the Moon" from Calvino's ''Literature/{{Cosmicomics}}''. He is currently working on ''VideoGame/{{Storyteller}}''.

!! This game provides examples of:
* AdaptationExpansion: The [[http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/today-i-die-again/id392646414?mt=8 iPhone version]] changes some of the scenes and has a little build-your-own-poetry mini-game.
%%* BizarrePuzzleGame: ''Today I Die'' is one of these, and a beautiful one at that.
%%* DisappearsIntoLight: Subverted. The Disappear is the protagonist's return from suicidal depression.
%%* DrivenToSuicide: [[spoiler:The whole point of the game seems to be to prevent this from happening.]]
* EarnYourHappyEnding: The protagonist must fight her way through the shades of herself, swimming with a rock tied around her waist.
* HellIsThatNoise: The music that starts playing when [[spoiler:the shades drag you down]] is incredibly tense and intimidating.
%%* LightEmUp: Your main 'weapon' throughout the game.
* MadLibsCatchPhrase: This forms the skeleton for the game's poem:
--> "[adjective] world
--> "full of [nouns]"
--> "today I [verb]"
* MultipleEndings: The protagonist can swim away with a young man, or on her own.
%%* OurMermaidsAreDifferent: The shades and the protagonist.
* ThePowerOfLove: In one of the possible endings, the protagonist swims away with a young man.
