Rage of Bahamut is an online mobile card-based character collection gameDespite common misconception as a CollectibleCardGame, the game does not involve creating and battling with decks of cards; it is instead an RPG that represents characters using cards developed by Creator/Cygames as their first game, and published jointly by Cygames and Mobage. Originally Japan-only, it was later given a US version. Players collect cards by doing quests, prizes, opening up card packs, or trading and use them to battle other players, enhance, or evolve them. Players can also join or create a team called an "order" to participate in in-game events, which allow you to battle other orders and collect points to earn ranks and prizes.

Players and the cards are divided into three realms/factions:
* Gods, which features elves, angels, and deities like Ifrit, Thor, Hercules, and Odin.
* Man, which features warriors, mages, and mortals like Jeanne D' Arc, Date Masamune, and King Arthur.
* Demons, which features goblins, vampires, and demonic beings like Fafner, Medusa, and Cerberus and also HalfHumanHybrids like [=RoB=]-original Grea.

An anime entitled Anime/RageOfBahamutGenesis began during the Fall 2014 season. The plot is a Prequel to the events of the game. A sequel anime entitled Rage of Bahamut: Virgin Soul began during the Spring 2017 Anime season. A third anime, Manaria Friends (a revival of the previously-canceled 2015 spin-off title) was released in the January 2019 season.

As of February 29, 2016, the English version of the game has been shut down. In March 2022, it was announced that the game would be winding down and no new events or cards would be released. The game is still up and playable despite this.

Cygames later released another card game worldwide called VideoGame/Shadowverse which uses the art from many Rage of Bahamut cards, making it a CreatorDrivenSuccessor to this game.

!! Tropes of Bahamut:
* AddedAlliterativeAppeal: One event in early fall 2013 was called "Sea Beast Belly Beach Blast".
* AngryGuardDog: Naturally, the Guard Dog - though he's only angry on the final form of his card.
* BadassBookworm: Most of the characters from the "Mysteria Academy" event.
* BadassNormal: A lot of the Man cards are characters that have no magical skills, but still are shown to be great warriors in their flavor text.
* BoobsAndButtPose: Several demon cards, like Camulia for example.
* ButThouMust: Most of the beginning event animations involve a character asking you a question such as, "Will you help?" and if you say no, they'll not believe you, or beg you to help, or something along those lines, just repeating the question over and over until you say "yes".
* CallBack: The "Chosen Blades" event in February 2014 involved the player returning to several locations that previous events took place (Mysteria Academy and the Castle in the Sky, for instance), meeting/being helped by the protagonists from those events, and, of course, the bosses coming back to life until being defeated again.
* ChristmasEpisode: The "Not So Silent Night" event.
* CuteMonsterGirl / GorgeousGorgon: Many of the demon cards such as Medusa and her sisters.
* CuteWitch: A lot of the younger spellcasters are cute girls.
* DoomyDoomsOfDoom: The final form of Vania's card has the ability "Malinda's Breath of Doom".
* DraconicHumanoid: One character who debuted in the "Mysteria Academy" event is named Grea the Dragonborn. She has horns on her head and dragon wings, and her forearms are scaly.
* EmbarrassingNickname: Nightmare hates being nicknamed "Mary".
* Expy: A bit of cards, own their design to creatures and characters from Franchise/FinalFantasy (since, of course, Cygames has a lot of Final Fantasy vets on staff):
** The titular dragon, is obviously based on the recurring summon and boss Bahamut, although with a bit of Shinryu.
** Odin also has the same basic design as his Final Fantasy counterpart, as does Leviathan and Titan.
** Tiamat is similar to the version of the dragon from VideoGame/FinalFantasyIX.
** Satan resembles Diabolos, and Dracula's final form from VideoGame/CastlevaniaCircleOfTheMoon.
*** Another Expy / ShoutOut to Castlevania, is with the Helsing card, who looks very much like Richter Belmont in his design from VideoGame/CastlevaniaSymphonyOFTheNight.
** Chaos Guardian resembles Garland, as well as the VideoGame/Alliance version of Chaos.
** Skadi resembles several incarnations of Shiva.
** Sky Officer Celia resembles Faris. More precisely, a combination of her Amano and chibi design.
** Ifrit also resembles his Final Fantasy counterpart, especialy the VideoGame/FinalFantasyVIII, and VideoGame/FinalFantasyIX versions of Ifrit.
* FairySexy: Most fairies from the god cards.
* FallenAngel: Several characters, labeled as demons in this game, such as Lucifer and Olivia.
* Fanservice: Has long been criticized for the very skimpy outfits and impossible anatomy of some of the cards. Cygames at one point took it a step further, adding JigglePhysics to some of the event animations, and Lampshading it by literally naming a temporary event card pack "Fanservice Card Pack". The art style is generally so sexualized that Cygames toned a lot of them down (subtly or otherwise) when reusing the art for VideoGame/Shadowverse.
* FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire: Vania, the little vampire girl who kept a dragon as a pet in the "Dragon's Awakening" event. She returned, along with a twin brother named Veight, in the "Memories of the Dark" event.
* GenderFlip: Several mythological figures have been turned into young women.
* GenkiGirl: Many of the young female characters who guide you through the quest events, such as Feena and Vania. A lot of the flavor text for cards featuring young female characters portrays them this way, too.
* HalloweenEpisode: The event "Manor of Illusions" that ran from October-November 2012 features cards and treasures with pumpkins, candies, and lanterns. There was also one for 2013.
* HighlyVisibleNinja: A lot of the ninja and assassin cards wear gaudy outfits in bright primary colors.
* HistoricalFantasy: There are some man cards that existed in real life like Date Masamune and Sanada Yukimura.
* HornedHumanoid: A number of the Demon characters, as well as the Fallen Angels. Lucifer in particular didn't originally have horns, though he gained a prominent pair after this fall.
* HotAsHell: Some of the female demon cards, with Lilith being the most prominent.
* HunterOfHisOwnKind: Veight and Vania fight against other vampires in the Memories of the Dark event.
* MedievalEuropeanFantasy: The rare and above man cards features cards such as King Arthur, Guinevere, and Lancelot.
* Microtransactions: You get some card packs and items free in the game, but you can pay money for more.
* NaughtyNuns: Some of the priestess and female cleric cards wear very revealing outfits.
* OralTradition: The game features gods and demons from at least eight different cultures.
** Myth/ClassicalMythology: Hercules, Cerberus
** Myth/EgyptianMythology: Reshef, Isis, Nephtys
** Finnish Mythology: Ilmatar
** Myth/HinduMythology: Vayu, Rahu, Shiva
** Myth/JapaneseMythology: Kaguya, Inugami
** Myth/MesopotamianMythology: Enkidu, Gilgamesh, Enki, Anu
** Myth/NativeAmericanMythology: Mayahuel
** Myth/NorseMythology: Thor, Odin, Loki, Baldr
* OurVampiresAreDifferent: Many of them tend to have little wings on their head.
* ParentalAbandonment: The flavor text on Youthful Bandit claims that he was found in the garbage at the local hospital.
* PrepareToDie:
** Said word for word by Alucard in the "Memories of the Dark" event.
** The flavor text on Vampire Huntress' final form has her saying this to the boss vampire.
* PromotionalPowerlessPieceOfGarbage: Many of the card rewards from events that most players are able to obtain aren't strong enough to be used competitively.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Played straight with a lot of demon cards, but there's plenty of characters - demon and non-demon alike - who have red eyes and aren't evil.
* ReusedCharacterDesign: Not this game in particular, but it’s the origin of every reused character design that appears in the games that follow it, most notably in VideoGame/ShadowVerse and VideoGame/GranblueFantasy.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter:
** The bunnicorn, an adorable, pink-and-white bunny-like creature with a long, fluffy tail and a unicorn horn, which likes to search for flowers to bring to its master.
** Fluffytail is a dancing squirrel, and flowers bloom where he dances.
* ScaryShinyGlasses: Ms. Miranda had them in her entrance in the "Mysteria Academy" event. She turns out to be friendly, though, and they do not shine after that.
* ShipTease: The player character unsurprisingly gets some of this with some of the characters, particularly during the Valentines Day and White Day lines.
* SeriesMascot: Several popular characters have become this but primarily the eponymous Bahamut and Lucifer, both of whom been promoted to company Mascot status. Dark Angel Olivia, Forte, and Cerberus also qualify.
* Literature/TheBible: Borrows some lore for its characters from the Bible, most notably for its character Lucifer, who had originally served God
* VampireHunter: The "Memories of the Dark" event involved the player character teaming up with vampire hunters.
* WingedHumanoid: Several characters, particularly the ones with Angelic ties.
* WellDoneSonGuy: Lecia in the "Walfrid's Incredible Air Fleet" event just wanted to live up to her father's legacy.
* WizardingSchool: The "Mysteria Academy" event, as well as its sequel, "Anne and Grea vs Evil", was themed around one.
* YouFool: The raid boss Jotunn from the "Anne and Grea vs Evil" event liked to do this. His fight dialogue was "Roar! Go home, fools!" and "FOOL! DISAPPEAR FROM MY SIGHT!"
