''Freddi Fish'' is a series of point-and-click children's games originally made by HumongousEntertainment, which was later bought by {{Atari}}. The series spans five {{Adventure Game}}s and four {{Gaiden Game}}s.

Freddi Fish is a yellow fish, who investigates problems with the help of her friend Luther, a small green fish. Problems that Freddi and Luther face usually involve a villain (often a CardCarryingVillain) scaring the local fish through some sort of trick.

The {{Adventure Game}}s, in order, are:
* ''Freddi Fish and the Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds'' (also known as ''Freddi Fish: Kelp Seed Mystery'', and [[FanNickname often referred to as]] ''Freddi Fish [[{{Retronym}} 1]]'')
* ''Freddi Fish 2: The Case of the Haunted Schoolhouse'' (also known as ''Freddi Fish: Haunted Schoolhouse Mystery'')
* ''Freddi Fish 3: The Case of the Stolen Conch Shell'' (also known as ''Freddi Fish and the Stolen Shell'')
* ''Freddi Fish 4: The Case of the Hogfish Rustlers of Briny Gulch''
* ''Freddi Fish 5: The Case of the Creature of Coral Cove''

The {{Gaiden Game}}s, in order, are:
* ''Freddi Fish and Luther's Water Worries''
* ''Freddi Fish and Luther's Maze Madness''
* ''Freddi Fish's One-Stop Fun Shop''
* ''Freddi Fish: [=ABCs=] Under the Sea'' ([[SpellMyNameWithAnS sometimes called]] ''Freddi Fish: [[WantonCrueltyToTheCommonComma ABC's]] Under the Sea'' or ''Freddi Fish: ABC Under the Sea'')

The series also spawned multiple [[TieInNovel children's books]] (not all of which may have been published), including ''Freddi Fish and the Pirate's Treasure'', ''Freddi Fish Notebook'', ''Freddi Fish: A Whale of a Tale!'', ''Freddi Fish: Boek is Zoek'', ''Freddi Fish: Color and Activity Book'', ''Freddi Fish: De Geheimzinnige Brief'', ''Freddi Fish: Help! Een Draak!'', ''Freddi Fish: Kleurenfestival'', ''Freddi Fish: Leesplezier voor Beginnende Lezers'', ''Freddi Fish: Meester Zeester in Nood'', ''Freddi Fish: Superleuke Rekenoefeningen'', ''Freddi Fish: Superleuke Schrijfoefeningen'', ''Freddi Fish: The Big Froople Match'', ''Freddi Fish: The Missing Letters Mystery'', ''Freddi Fish: What's Different?'', and ''Sing Along with Freddi Fish and her Friends'' (doubling as an AudioAdaptation). Additionally, the album ''Flabby Rode'' features the DummiedOut CutSong "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEepxWAf6ec Fat Chants 2]]" from ''Freddi Fish and the Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds''.

A demo version of ''The Case of the Haunted Schoolhouse'' can be [[ftp://ftp.infogrames.net/demos/ff_haunted_schoolhouse/FFHaunted-Demo.zip downloaded]] from Infogrames, and a clickpoint demonstration of ''The Case of the Creature of Coral Cove'' can be [[http://www.spektakle.com/portfolio/he_ff5/he_ff5_lab.html played]] or [[http://www.spektakle.com/portfolio/he_ff5/he_ff5_lab.swf downloaded]] from Spektakle.

Now available on Steam.

!!Tropes in the ''FreddiFish'' series:
* AddedAlliterativeAppeal: ''Water Worries'', ''Maze Madness'', and ''The Case of the Creature of Coral Cove''.
* AirVentPassageway: This is how Freddi and Luther access the school's boiler room in ''The Case of the Haunted Schoolhouse''.
* AllDesertsHaveCacti: ''Freddi Fish 4''.
* AlliterativeName: Freddi Fish.
* AlphabetSoupCans
* AmbidextrousSprite: In ''Water Worries'', Luther and Freddi always use the fin that's further from the player to hold their slingshots (and in Freddi's case, her net).
* AmateurSleuth: Freddi and Luther.
* AnAesop: All the main games have one, usually Freddi telling others that it's wrong to steal kelp seeds/other children's toys/a ceremonial conch shell/a collection of hogfish/the deed to land you don't own. Ironically, while Freddi is the heroine of an AdventureGame, a genre infamous for its {{Kleptomaniac Hero}}es, Freddi herself doesn't steal and many puzzles rely on Freddi using a ChainOfDeals so she can borrow something.
* AngryGuardDog:
** The Junkyard Dogfish, in ''The Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds'' and ''Maze Madness''.
** Marty's dogfish from ''The Case of the Creature of Coral Cove''.
* AnimalGenderBender: Nadine is a female narwhal with a tusk, although she did say this is very rare.
* TheAnimeOfTheGame: Was to have been created by Lancit Media Entertainment.
* AntiFrustrationFeatures: If you fool around long enough, a character will randomly give you a hint.
* ArtShift: [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LpLGGS5xOA This music video]] features 3D versions of Freddi and Luther.
* AsLongAsItSoundsForeign: [[FunnyForeigner Horst Fedders]]' native language is ForeignSoundingGibberish.
* AudioAdaptation: The TieInNovel ''Sing Along with Freddi Fish and her Friends'' came with a cassette tape of the same name.
* AxCrazy: Freddi in the "Eddie Eats Luther" easter egg clip.
* BigBadDuumvirate: Boss and Spongehead in the first two games.
** BiggerBad: They still answer to The Squidfather.
* BigFriendlyDog: The Junkyard Dogfish, in ''[=ABCs=] Under the Sea''.
* BlatantLies: At the end of the first game, Luther tries to make himself look like he did all of the work and was being very brave.
* BlindWithoutEm: Casey and his OpaqueNerdGlasses.
* BloodyHilarious: In ''The Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds'', Freddi's DummiedOut IndulgentFantasySegue has her [[FamilyUnfriendlyDeath feed Luther to Eddie the Eel]].
* BowtiesAreCool: Mr. Starfish from ''The Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds'' and the TieInNovel ''Freddi Fish: Meester Zeester in Nood'' wears a bowtie, as well as a [[HighClassGlass monocle]].
* BratsWithSlingshots: The closest thing Freddi and Luther have to a WeaponOfChoice, though they never directly aim them at anyone. The one in ''The Case of the Haunted Schoolhouse'' is actually a very high-tech device, complete with an attached targeting computer. The ones in ''Water Worries'' are more basic slingshots.
* ButtMonkey: Luther.
* CanonDiscontinuity: Freddi and Luther create the stories in ''One-Stop Fun Shop'''s storytime coloring book, so the five stories are most likely not canon.
* CardCarryingVillain: As noted above.
* CoatFullOfContraband: Standard behavior for Ray, who's pretty much HonestJohnsDealership without the dealership.
* ColourCodedForYourConvenience: In ''Water Worries'', the bubbles with red outlines are the ones with bad things in or on them.
* CoolAndUnusualPunishment: The third game has one for each thief.
* CutSong: Some games' [=HE4=] files contain DummiedOut music.
* ADayInTheLimelight: ''Water Worries'' is the only game to focus on Luther, with Freddi only being playable in two player mode.
* DownloadableContent: ''Freddi Fish's One-Stop Fun Shop'' had additional art that could be downloaded from Humongous' website.
* DummiedOut:
** ''The Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds'':
*** Freddi, Luther, and Eddie the Eel have [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFlcUf6ntNs an unused cutscene]] that can be unlocked by adding "[=EddieEatsLuther=1=]" (after the first time, that and "[=BretIsTheOverlord=1=]") to the game's section in the INI file.
*** The handle of the sword stuck in the barrel on the sunken ship's deck has two unused animations that can be unlocked by adding "[=EnableFishBradSword=1=]" (after the first time, that and "[=PeteIsAlsoTheOverlord=1=]") to the game's section in the INI file.
*** The game's [=HE4=] file contains [[CutSong unused music]], including "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEepxWAf6ec Fat Chants 2]]" (an alternate version of [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsZbzhKczjQ one of the game's background themes]]), which [[EarlyBirdCameo would later be featured]] on the album ''Flabby Rode''.
** ''The Case of the Haunted Schoolhouse'':
*** Freddi has an unused line that can be triggered by getting [[MacGuffin all five trap parts]] then checking the list (which can only be done by using the game's debug mode or [=ScummVM=]'s debugger).
** ''Water Worries'':
*** An unused LevelEditor exists, and it is fully-functioning. It can be accessed by typing "room 13" in [=ScummVM=]'s debugger.
** ''Maze Madness'':
*** An unused [[EarlyBirdCameo early version]] of the ''Squoosh'' arcade mini-game from ''PuttPutt Travels Through Time'' can be accessed by using [=ScummVM=]'s debugger and typing "room 6." This version of the mini-game has four different pictures to reveal: the Seattle [=SuperSonics=]' '95-'01 logo, Luther pulling his fins out from the Junkyard Dogfish's mouth (a scene from ''Freddi Fish and the Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds''), Pep licking up Putt-Putt's vomit while Putt-Putt watches, next to Chuck Wagon (a DummiedOut scene from ''PuttPutt Saves the Zoo''), and 30 live-action people.
*** An unused LevelEditor made for the developers exists, but it is unknown how to get it to test levels. It can be accessed either by adding [=RhettCool=1=] to the game's section in the INI file and pressing "e" at any time during the gameplay, or by typing "room 5" in the debugger.
** ''The Case of the Stolen Conch Shell'':
*** The Conch thief's [[ThiefBag bag]] is an inventory item that can only be obtained by using the game's debug mode or [=ScummVM=]'s debugger. It cannot be selected or used.
** ''The Case of the Creature of Coral Cove'':
*** For whatever reason, the very beginning of the game's [=HE4=] file has the toy store theme from ''PuttPutt Joins the Parade''.
* EarlyBirdCameo: SPYFox appears in one of the theater movies for ''Freddi Fish 2'', who didn't debut until a year later.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: Freddi had a different design in the first game, mainly due to her upper fin being taller and less wide. It also is notably DarkerAndEdgier than the sequels.
* EenieMeenieMinyMoai: The background of Levels 41-50 in ''Water Worries''.
* ElectricJellyfish: Appear in ''Water Worries'' and ''The Case of the Hogfish Rustlers of Briny Gulch''.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: As with [[OnlyKnownByTheirNickname Spongehead]], Boss is never referred to by his unknown real name; instead, he's always referred to as what Spongehead called him in the first game.
* EverythingsEvenWorseWithSharks: Boss and Spongehead. Also, the hungry pink shark from the fourth game.
* ExpandedUniverse: The [[TieInNovel Tie-In Novels]] and AudioAdaptation.
* ExpoSpeak: "Maybe I can move the pipe with [[MindOverMatter TELEKINESIS: The raw power of my brain!]]"
** Interestingly enough, although Luther couldn't get the pipe down with the TK, he did unknowingly lift a plane out of the ocean in the distance.
* {{Expy}}: Jason from ''The Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds'' is basically a fish version of PuttPutt. He's even named after Putt-Putt's voice actor at the time.
* EyelidPullTaunt: In ''The Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds'', Freddi does this towards the player at the end of her DummiedOut IndulgentFantasySegue.
* TheFamilyForTheWholeFamily: The shark villains and their boss, [[TheGodfather The Squidfather]].
* FamilyUnfriendlyDeath: In ''The Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds'', Freddi's DummiedOut IndulgentFantasySegue has her [[BloodyHilarious feed Luther to Eddie the Eel]].
* FictionalCurrency: Purple sea urchins. There are at least five variations, all of which are more valuable: red sea urchins (worth two purple ones), blue sea urchins (worth three purple ones), gold sea urchins (worth four purple ones), and orange sea urchins (worth more than four purple ones; exact value unknown).
* FifteenPuzzle: ''Freddi Fish 2'' has a sliding puzzle, but it's completely optional to complete. The only time you actually need to use it is if the trident is being held by the statue below it, and even then, you still only need to clear one space.
* FourthWallMailSlot: "Frankly Freddi" on the old Humongous web site.
* FunnyForeigner: Horst Fedders, mostly due to ''Freddi Fish 3'''s [[TranslationTrainWreck foreign language phrase book]].
* GenderBlenderName: Freddi. Her voice is also ambiguous enough that it's fairly common for people to confuse her for male. This actually happens in-universe, and she corrects the other fish by saying "Excuse me, sir, but I'm a girl." [[{{TheDevTeamThinksofEverything}} This was possibly intentionally put in to confirm her gender for any unsure players]].
* GentleGiant: In ''Freddi Fish 5'', [[spoiler:the sea monster Xamfear Duncan Dogberry Valentine turns out to be one of these.]]
* GeographicFlexibility: ''[=ABCs=] Under the Sea'' takes locations from the first, fourth, and fifth games and puts them in completely different places. Grandma Grouper's house from the fifth game even appears twice (well, either that or she got a duplicate house)!
* GrandFinale: Case of the Creature of Coral Cove is this for the series and Humongous in general, as it was the last adventure game produced by Humongous before their buyout from Atari. They went out with a bang, too- it's probably the most solid of all the Junior Adventures.
* GuiltBasedGaming: Luther will sometimes say this if you hit the "Stop" button at the end of the first game:
---> '''Luther''': Freddi! [[TheWonderfulWizardOfOz I'm melting!]]
* {{Hammerspace}}: To the point where it gets lampshaded in the fourth game, after Freddi manages to store an entire piece of wood.
---> '''Luther:''' How did you do that?
---> '''Freddi:''' That's my special secret.
* HeelFaceRevolvingDoor: The Junkyard Dogfish. In ''The Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds'', he's hungry and growls at Freddi and Luther (biting Luther's tail fin if Freddi and Luther swim too close to him) after Luther accidentally wakes him up, but once Freddi gives him a [[StockFemurBone bone]] he thanks her and leaves. In ''Maze Madness'', he keeps chasing Freddi no matter how many times he takes a Peanut Butter and Jellyfish Sandwich from her. In ''[=ABCs=] Under the Sea'', he [[InformedAbility (supposedly)]] sorts the junkyard's trash, and is happy to let Freddi and Luther help him sort it.
* InvisibleParents: Despite being mentioned on the old Humongous website, Freddi's parents never show up in-universe.
* TheHero: Freddi.
* HiddenObjectGame: The TieInNovel ''Freddi Fish: What's Different?''
* HighClassGlass: Mr. Starfish from ''The Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds'' and the TieInNovel ''Freddi Fish: Meester Zeester in Nood'' wears a monocle, as well as a [[BowtiesAreCool bowtie]].
* IncrediblyLamePun: Luther pulls a few of these, which are usually followed by DontExplainTheJoke.
* IndulgentFantasySegue: In ''The Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds'', Freddi has a DummiedOut one.
---> '''Luther:''' Whatcha thinking about, Freddi?
---> '''Freddi:''' Oh, nothing, Luther.
* ItMayHelpYouOnYourQuest: Everything.
* {{Keet}}: Luther.
* KidHero: Freddi and Luther. Their ages aren't mentioned, but it's safe to assume they're ten.
* TheLancer: Luther.
* LargeHam: Luther.
* LevelEditor: ''Maze Madness'' has one.
* LinkedListClueMethodology: ''The Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds'' has Spongehead's [[MessageInABottle bottles]] that lead to Grandma Grouper's stolen kelp seed treasure.
* LogoJoke: In comparison to the other Humongous games, the font on the "It's a Junior Adventure!" logo is light blue instead of yellow to give it an ocean-like feel (with the exception of the fourth game which goes back to the yellow scheme, and the fifth which lacks it altogether).
* LongSongShortScene:
** [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjdvLKKBqes The ending theme to the second game.]] It's actually three separate songs put together in the same cut scene, and they all change upon a specific point, so a good half of it is unheard of in-game.
** [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ICjqnTtuRc The intro/ending theme for]] ''Water Worries'' is cut off 40 seconds in, when the whole thing is about a minute and 3 seconds before looping once.
* LongTitle: All the main games. Just look at the top of the page.
* MadLibsDialogue: Especially in ''Water Worries''.
** The math minigame from the first game makes use of this whenever the characters utter the numbers.
* {{Mayincatec}}: the temple from ''Stolen Conch''.
* MazeGame: ''Maze Madness''.
* MessageInABottle: The LinkedListClueMethodology in ''The Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds''. The museum in ''The Case of the Haunted Schoolhouse'' includes a similar bottle, which in Freddi's words "looks awfully familiar."
* MinigameGame: ''[=ABCs=] Under the Sea''.
* MusicalEpisode: ''The Case of the Haunted Schoolhouse'' and the TieInNovel[=/=]AudioAdaptation ''Sing Along with Freddi Fish and her Friends'', which feature the same songs.
* NerdGlasses:
** Casey, and he's BlindWithoutEm.
** Al B. Core from ''Freddi Fish 5''.
* NeverSayDie: Strangely averted in the first game, but played straight through the rest of the series. ''Maze Madness'' and ''Water Worries'' refuse to call losing a life "dying".
* NewPowersAsThePlotDemands: A non-superhero example--in ''[=ABCs=] Under the Sea'', Augie the octopus suddenly has the ability to change color.
* NoticeThis: Important objects will wiggle, glow, sparkle, and possibly emit noises. Often one of the characters will comment on it upon entering the scene.
* OffscreenTeleportation: In ''[=ABCs=] Under the Sea'', Grandma Grouper appears in two different locations, and no matter how quickly Freddi swims from one to the other, Grandma will always be there already.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: As with [[EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep Boss]], Spongehead is never referred to by his unknown real name; instead, he's always referred to as what Boss called him in the first game.
* PlatonicLifePartners: Freddi and Luther.
* PointOfNoReturn: Finding the last PlotCoupon usually acts as this; e.g. the last clue bottle in ''Kelp Seeds'' moves you on to the sunken ship or the last golden pipe in ''Stolen Conch Shell'' moves you on to the temple.
* PoisonMushroom: ''Water Worries'' has Wiggler Worms, which cause Luther or Freddi to wiggle around for a period of time, effectively enlarging their hitbox as well as making it harder to aim at smaller bubbles.
* PsychoElectricEel: Eddie plays the role well, [[TastesLikeFriendship but he's easily bribed with food.]]
* RecycledSoundtrack: ''One-Stop Fun Shop'' reuses music from previous games.
* [[RedheadedHero Redheaded Heroine]]: If you interpret her orange scales as red hair, Freddi might count.
* RhymesOnADime: Barnacle Bob.
* RightHandCat: The Squidfather has a pet catfish.
* RubeGoldbergDevice: Used to capture the "ghost" at the end of the second game.
* SameLanguageDub
* SchmuckBait: Luther uses his Codfish Commando action figure for this at the end of the second game.
* ScoobyDooHoax: In ''The Case of the Haunted Schoolhouse'' and the ''One-Stop Fun Shop'' [[CanonDiscontinuity storytime coloring book story]] ''A Ghost Story'', [[spoiler:the ghost is actually Boss and Spongehead in disguise.]]
* SeldomSeenSpecies: The coconut crab from the "Crab Invaders" minigame in "The Case of the Haunted Schoolhouse", Nadine the narwhal from "The Case of the Stolen Conch Shell", and the jawfish from "The Case of the Creature of Coral Cove".
* SeverelySpecializedStore: Just Buckles from ''Freddi Fish 4''.
* ShoutOut: In ''Water Worries'', the background of Levels 91-100 has a {{pirate}}y-looking skeleton holding on to a treasure chest. The name on the treasure chest is partially obscured, but starts with "G. Th..." and ends with "...od." Given [[LucasArts where Humongous's co-founder Ron Gilbert came from]], this is almost certainly a reference to [[VideoGame/MonkeyIsland Guybrush Threepwood]].
** The 4th game also has many references to [[TheGodfather The Godfather]], and the "Squidfather" has a [[RightHandCat pet cat]] a la [[AustinPowers many]] [[Film/JamesBond famous]] [[InspectorGadget villains]].
* ShrinkingViolet: The Shy Octopi from ''Water Worries''.
* SimpletonVoice: Spongehead the shark has one. In ''Maze Madness'', he has a simpleton laugh.
* SliceOfLife: ''[=ABCs=] Under the Sea'' could be considered this, especially since time does pass in-game.
* SpeciesSurname: [[AllThereInTheManual According to]] "[[FourthWallMailSlot Frankly Freddi]]" on the old Humongous web site, "Fish" is Freddi and her {{Unnamed Parent}}s' surname.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: A non-character example--the title of ''[=ABCs=] Under the Sea'' is sometimes spelled as ''ABC's Under the Sea'' [[WantonCrueltyToTheCommonComma (which is grammatically incorrect)]] or ''ABC Under the Sea''.
* StandardSnippet
* StockFemurBone: Found in the first game, and used to placate the Junkyard Dogfish.
* StylisticSuck: Many of the theater movies are this.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute: ''Freddi Fish 5'' replaces Gill Barker with his previously unmentioned twin sister Gillian.
* TastesLikeFriendship: [[PsychoElectricEel Eddie the Eel]] is easily bribed with food.
* TheyHaveTheScent:
** In ''Maze Madness'', the Junkyard Dogfish is the hardest enemy to avoid.
** In ''The Case of the Stolen Conch Shell'', Old Soggy needs to smell all three Golden Pipes in order to track the scent of the Great Conch Shell.
* ThiefBag: In ''Freddi Fish 3''.
* ThoseTwoBadGuys: Boss and Spongehead, especially in the first game, where they exist only to have [[AsYouKnow exposition orgies]] in the cutscenes.
* TieInNovel
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Worm Doodles for Luther.
* TranslationTrainWreck: In-universe example--''Freddi Fish 3'''s foreign language phrase book turns everything into WordSaladHumor, with only plot-significant phrases surviving enough to be understandable.
* TheUnintelligible: The Squidfather.
* VirtualPaperDoll: ''One-Stop Fun Shop'''s Freddi-o-Matic and Luther-o-Matic.
* WantonCrueltyToTheCommonComma: ''[=ABCs=] Under the Sea'' is [[SpellMyNameWithAnS sometimes called]] '''''ABC's''' Under the Sea''
* AWinnerIsYou: ''Maze Madness''.
* WordSaladHumor: ''Freddi Fish 3'''s [[TranslationTrainWreck foreign language phrase book]].
* YouALLLookFamiliar: The enemies in ''Maze Madness''.
* YouMeddlingKids: [[spoiler:This line comes out of Marty in the fifth game upon picking up the food sample after entering Coral Cove Park:]]
-->[[spoiler:Marty]]: Those meddlesome kids are going to ruin my grand plan.
* UnnamedParent: [[AllThereInTheManual According to]] "[[FourthWallMailSlot Frankly Freddi]]" on the old Humongous web site, Freddi's parents' names are [[SpeciesSurname Mr. and Mrs. Fish]].
