''Fear Mythos: The RPG'' is a freeware RPG created by one of the authors of Franchise/TheFearMythos. It is the [[ExcusePlot tale]] of a RagtagBunchOfMisfits trapped in the [[AlienGeometries Empty City]] and tasked with [[DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu killing twenty-two of the]] {{Eldritch Abomination}}s [[DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu known as Fears]].

Essentially a MassiveMultiplayerCrossover for the Fear Mythos, with {{Shout Out}}s and cameos from all sorts of popular stories set in it.

!!Tropes for ''Fear Mythos: The RPG''

* AlienGeometries: The Empty City.
* [[spoiler: AllJustADream]]: [[spoiler: The Empty City isn't really The Empty City at all, but a nightmare created by [[TrueFinalBoss The Grotesque]]]].
* ArbitraryHeadcountLimit: You have eight party members, but can only take four of them to any given battle.
* ArmsDealer: Jack of All.
* AttackAttackAttack: The only option for Jordan, as he has no skills. He just wails on his opponent until they stop moving.
* BeardOfEvil: The Nameless One has one going for him.
* BlackMage: Omega.
* BoringButPractical: Jordan can pound most enemies into pulp without breaking a sweat using a basic attack.
* BossGame: Almost. There are random encounters with {{mooks}} at certain points, but the emphasis is on the bosses.
* TheCameo: Theodore Quiet, [[AuthorAvatar Visitor]], [[spoiler: A]].
* CharacterPortrait: Everyone.
* EndgamePlus: Beating the game multiple times unlocks several bosses.
* ExcusePlot: It's eight different Fear Mythos protagonists beating the crap out of twenty-two (plus) {{Eldritch Abomination}}s. No one cares why.
* FlunkyBoss: EAT, the Manufactured Newborn, and the Wooden Girl are both accompanied by their minions.
* GraphicsInducedSuperDeformed: Everyone, due to the game being made in RPG Maker. Even the bosses.
* TheGrimReaper: The Plague Doctor has this motif, even if he is wearing a plague doctor mask rather than having a skull for a face.
* InfinityMinusOneSword: Jeanette's Shotgun, a special weapon added in the 1.14 Beta update.
* InfinityPlusOneSword: Each character has an ultimate weapon that can be unlocked.
* JackOfAllStats: Hunter. Decent speed, decent strength, decent defense, decent skills... but nothing that really stands out.
* LightningBruiser: Jordan, to the point of being able to one-shot most mooks before they get a single attack.

* MadDoctor: The Oathbreakers and Doctor Beakman.
* MassiveMultiplayerCrossover: Essentially one for the Mythos as a whole. The game features protagonists (and enemies) from ''OH GOD THE RAPTURE IS BURNING'', ''Hidden In The Trees'', ''The World Through These Eyeholes'', and many others.
* PuzzleBoss: Of a sort. Certain bosses are more difficult if you haven't "solved" the nearby "puzzle" - for example, [[spoiler: turning on the lights before facing the Nightlanders]].
** Other bosses play it straight though. The Eye has an ability that instantly kills the entire party, [[spoiler: but it's a counter-attack, so to beat the boss you merely have to not attack it.]] Also, the Archangel and the Empty City will shift to different forms throughout the fight with different strengths and weaknesses.
** The Brute in New Game + is immune to everything you throw at it. [[spoiler: Except for Tav's wind abilities. As the Brute is made of smoke, this makes sense]]
* RecurringTraveller: Jack of All.
* TheReveal: [[spoiler: The entire game is just a nightmare caused by The Grotesque, from which you can never escape...]]
* ScarfOfAsskicking: Jordan.
* SchmuckBait: The trail of flowers leading to the Smiling Man. To anyone who knows his MO, this couldn't be more obvious - but, given the premise of the game, that doesn't stop them from "falling for it".
* SheatheYourSword: [[spoiler: This is the only way to beat the Eye]]
* ShieldedCoreBoss: The Manufactured Newborn. If you damage it, the Cable will recharge it. If you damage the Cable, the two Towerborn will repair it.
* ShockAndAwe: The Faceless Bastard's lightning skills.
* SmallSecludedWorld: The Empty City.
* SquishyWizard: Omega can dish out the hurt with his skills, but he can't take it.
* SuddenlyBlonde: Among others, Omega's face is visible under his hood. Again, this is due to the constraints of RPG Maker.
* TimeLimitBoss: The final boss of the initial playthrough, the Quiet, never attacks you, but every turn it counts down from 10. When it reaches 0, it's GameOver. In New Game +, [[spoiler: Aqualung also pulls this. Except this time he's counting down from 6, is more than capable of attacking you, and he starts every battle with ability that prevents you from using spells]]
* TurnsRed: Not a straight example, but the Intrusion becomes more and more powerful as the fight so goes on. [[spoiler: The only way to beat it is to take it out as quickly as possible.]]
* VillainousBreakdown: [[spoiler: The Cold Boy]] starts the fight as a near-invincible murder machine. Then the sun comes out...
* WhiteMage: Tav.
* WolfPackBoss: The Nightlanders. Individually, they aren't really that tough. But when there are four attacking you at once the battle becomes much more difficult.
** As of the 1.27 Beta update, EAT is now a variation.
* WorldLimitedToThePlot: The Empty City again, natch. [[spoiler: JustifiedTrope, in the end, as the entire City is really just a dream created by The Grotesque.]]
