The upcoming SpiritualSuccessor to ''VideoGame/{{Fahrenheit}}'' (''Indigo Prophecy'') and ''VideoGame/HeavyRain'' by Creator/QuanticDream, revealed at {{E3}} 2012. The story, covering the span of fifteen years, centers on a young woman named Jodi Holmes (modeled after and played by EllenPage) who tries to uncover the mystery of a strange {{poltergeist}}-like presence serving as her protector as well as Nathan Dawkins (Willem Dafoe), a researcher who serves as her surrogate father. The central topic of the game is what happens to one after death. Like its immediate predecessor, ''Beyond: Two Souls'' is a PlayStation3 exclusive.

See also ''WebVideo/{{Kara}}'' for the tech demo produced in preparation for this game.

!!Tropes to be found in the game:

* AllStarCast: Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe.
* AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent: The player is able to switch between controlling Jodi and the entity/Aiden.
* BaldWomen: Jodi sports a buzzcut upon her introduction (rather reminiscent of ''WebVideo/{{Kara}}'').
* BeautyIsNeverTarnished: Averted. Screenshots show Jodi living homeless in a cold climate with visible damage to her skin, especially around the eyes and lips.
* BodySurf: One of Aiden's abilities.
* DashedPlotLine: The story is set to cover 15 years of Jodi's life. Unless they are making a ''very'' long game, it's gonna be this trope.
* DemonicPossession: Aiden can enter the minds of people and control their bodies.
* DrivingQuestion: "What lies beyond?"
* ExtraordinarilyEmpoweredGirl: The little released material suggests that while Jodi is not directly empowered herself, she has a powerful supernatural protector.
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: A sign of Aiden's possession.
* InkSuitActor: EllenPage as Jodi and Willem Dafoe as Dawkins.
* InsistentTerminology: Jodi calls her companion "Aiden" in the released footage, but David Cage consistently refers to it as "the entity" in interviews.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: Jodi wants to be like other normal girls her age but that's just not possible.
* LimitedSpecialCollectorsUltimateEdition: [=GameStop=] is releasing an exclusive steelbook edition that comes with an additional thirty minutes of the game as well as bonus features for those who preorder early.
* ParentalSubstitute: Dawkins serves as this to Jodi.
* {{Poltergeist}}: The spirit that Jodi interacts with, who she addresses as "Aiden".
* PosthumousCollaboration: Since composer Normand Corbeil died of pancreatic cancer in January 2013, Scottish composer [[AssassinsCreedIII Lorne Balfe]] has taken over.
* PsychicPowers: Jodi (via Aiden) can move objects, albeit only via one-time pointed bursts of force, as well as possess people.
* RealLifeWritesThePlot: Like in ''VideoGame/HeavyRain'', the story was sparked by an event in David Cage's life--namely, the sudden death of a person very close to him.
* TheShrink: Dawkins appears to be a combination of this as well as a researcher of Jodi's abilities.
* TykeBomb: Jodi is trained from a young age not only to use her psychic link, but also to be a CIA agent.
