Hi, I'm Rick Desilets, a web development teacher, independent filmmaker, and radio host based out of Somerville, Massachusetts. While my employment has shifted significantly over the years, one constant is my love of film and stage, something I've actively pursued since 2004. I currently host a radio show-turned-YouTube channel called ''TheDPad'', direct the film company TwoBitPictures, and film and edit videos for QuietLunchMagazine.

!!Have some tropes!

* ArtistDisillusionment: The original mindset while ''Shots'' was being written. A very different disillusionment took its place while the film is being produced.
** To explain, the original 2009 screenplay, ''That's Life'', was written as part of a script contest under BrokenWallFilms, with the inspiration being the "quarter-life crisis". It still bleeds through the 2013 version.
* BlackSheep: Not in a bad way, mind. As a filmmaker and radio host, I just don't fit in much with my more mechanically-oriented family.
* CoolUncle: I do have a very famous uncle, but I usually keep that relation under wraps so I can try to make it on my own instead of looking like I'm [[CoattailRidingRelative riding his coattails]]. We have different last names, however, so I don't have to pull a NicolasCage.
* DescendedCreator: Occasionally I wind up in the things I create or direct.
** In ''10-54 in Progress'', I played Duncan the Lab Analyst, mostly because we wrote too many parts and ran out of actors (we also wound up casting our cameraman). We did the same for ''How Many?'' and ''Outside the Box''.
** ''Late Night Shift'' featured me as the main character, werewolf Brian Higgins. Mostly because I had a lot of hair. I reprised the role for a cameo the follow-up, ''Pipe Dreams'', and will have a significant role in the finale at the end of July.
** I will have a small cameo in ''{{Film/Shots}}'' in homage to creators like AlfredHitchcock, QuentinTarantino, and KevinSmith.
* TeasingCreator: I love dropping aggravatingly vague hints as to what I'm working on. For example, 2014 will mark the start of my "Hats Trilogy". Silver, blue, and green, whatever could they mean?
