* DoingItForTheArt: The 2013 run has become famous for innovative layout design by Creator/JamieMcKelvie, especially [[http://all-the-young-avengers-feels.tumblr.com/post/52744200708/young-avengers-layout-appreciation-post-heres the double page spread for each issue]].
* ExecutiveMeddling: The reason Eli does not show up in the 2013 run is that he's under editorial embargo, because a different writer already has plans for him. Alas for poor Eli, however, as said volume of Young Avengers has since come and gone and most of its members have [[ComicBook/NewAvengers2015 gone on]] [[Comicbook/{{Hawkeye}} to other]] [[ComicBook/TheUltimates2015 on-goings]] and Eli ''still'' hasn't made an appearance.[[note]]It is early 2016 as of this writing.[[/note]]
* IKnewIt: Wiccan and Hulkling's reveal as being a gay couple was done sooner than planned, because all the fans could tell they were in a relationship anyway.
* NamesTheSame: Theodore "Teddy" Altman shares a name with Dr. Theodora "Teddy" Altman of ''Series/GreysAnatomy'', due to creator Allan Heinberg being a producer on that show.
* ScheduleSlip: To allow Jim Cheung to draw all of ''Children's Crusade'', the limited series was released over a period of ''18 months''.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Hulkling was originally going to be [[GenderBender a girl who posed as a man to fight crime]] and Wiccan would only be in love with the male alter ego, but Marvel was already doing something similar with Xavin from [[ComicBook/{{Runaways}} The Runaways]], albeit with switched genders.
** From interviews you might get the impression Creator/KieronGillen wanted to create much larger cast, but decided he wouldn't be able to tell a good story with it and cut it to bare minimum. He plans on slowly expanding it as the series goes on. He also wanted to use Eli, but was told another writer already called dibs on him.
** The first attempt at a ''Young Avengers'' series dates back to the 90's, when RobLiefeld and Jim Valentino pitched one. The series would have starred Namorita, Speedball, the teen Vance Astro (the character that ended up becoming Marvel Boy and then Justice), Firestar, and Torpedo ([[Comicbook/{{Nova}} Richard Rider]] in a new identity after having lost his Nova abilities), as well as new characters Combat, Cougar, Brahma, Lynx, Rebound, Gridlock, Spectra, and Photon. The book was rejected in favor of the ''Comicbook/NewWarriors'', and many of the proposed new characters would later be recycled in various Creator/ImageComics books like ''Comicbook/{{Youngblood}}'' and ''Comicbook/{{Shadowhawk}}''.
* WordOfDante: It isn't quite clear if Wiccan and Speed are actually mutants. Just about every fan assumes so, which probably led to a few times that they've been referred to as mutants in the series. Wiccan's powers did activate when he was a young teen, and in the X-Men BatFamilyCrossover Comicbook/BattleOfTheAtom, Wiccan is a part of the X-Men, so there's that.
