* NoExportForYou:
** The Russian publisher Eksmo has purchased the rights to distribute the ''Colonization'' and ''Homeward Bound'' books in Russian-speaking countries and then promptly sat on them, refusing to translate and publish the novels for "ideological reasons" and making sure nobody else could. Apparently, they didn't like how the USSR was shown in ''Colonization'', even though it was arguably shown better here than in the ''Worldwar'' books.
** None of the books, from this series, has been translated in French nor published in any French-speaking regions.
* ScienceMarchesOn: In the years since the series was written, we've learned some things about some of the star systems mentioned in the saga: In the novels of ''Colonization'', it's mentioned that Lizards are amused of how many asteroids the Tosev (Sol) system has next to the systems of their empire, much tidier. We currently know that Tau Ceti has ''[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tau_Ceti#Debris_disk far more]]'' of them in orbit than the Sun and Epsilon Eridani even [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epsilon_Eridani#Dust_disk much more]]. In addition to that, while there's [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tau_Ceti#Planetary_system evidence of planets]] around Tau Ceti, they're likely to be quite different from Home, the Lizard's homeworld.
* ScrewedByTheNetwork: Russian readers will never get to read the ''Colonization'' trilogy, as the Russian publishing house Eksmo purchased the rights to the trilogy and then put it under wraps, refusing to translate or publish the books for "ideological reasons". Given that it was the [=90s=] (a turbulent time in Russia), it's possible that the novels would be translated and published had a publisher purchased the rights now.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Turtledove jokingly stated in an interview he almost had The Race show up at the start of the [[UsefulNotes/WorldWarII Second Great War]] in his ''Literature/Timeline191'' series.
