* AcclaimedFlop: It was never the strongest ratings draw, despite the positive feedback from critics.
* Cancellation: The series was cancelled after one additional episode aired. The loss of Ken Wahl combined with the move to a traditionally low rated Saturday night spot depleted the ratings further and the series came to its end after 75 episodes.
* TheCastShowoff: Deborah Harry, Glenn Frey and Creator/TimCurry all get opportunities to show off their musical talents during the Dead Dog Records arc.
* DawsonCasting: Eddie Tempest is repeatedly referred to as a "teenage rock star." His actor, Billy Wirth, was 27 at the time he appeared.
* FakeNationality: Austrian actor Maximillian Schell as the very Cuban Amado Guzman.
* HeAlsoDid:
** The Guzman storyline at the start of Season 4 marked the only major adult role for Martika as recurring character Dahlia Mendez; as following that arc's conclusion Martika - who had gained success with songs such as "More Than You Know" and SignatureSong "Toy Soldiers" - would eventually turn to her music career full-time.
** Mark "Nuclear Man" Pillow appears in Season 1's "Smokey Mountain Requiem" as Russell.
* MissingEpisode: The Dead Dog Records arc, which starred Creator/TimCurry, Deborah Harry, Glenn Frey, and Paul Winfield, has never been officially released on home video, never been legally streamed, and never been rebroadcast...and it isn't likely to be, either, because of the rights issues with the music. FilmRise was finally able to get the rights and post the Dead Dog arc in December 2021.
* StarMakingRole:
** The Mel Profitt arc put Creator/KevinSpacey on the map.
** Creator/WilliamRuss credits his arc on the show with providing his first taste of recognition in the industry.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** Acording to Creator/StephenJCannell another actor was originally cast as Mel Profitt. A week before production began, the actor's father called to inform Cannell that his son had just checked into a drug rehabilitation program and would be unable to appear on the show. Creator/GaryCole was apparently considered for the role, but it is unknown if he was the original actor. Creator/KevinSpacey was cast three days before filming began on his first episode.
** When it came time to shoot Roger Lococo's disappearance, his actor Creator/WilliamRuss asked to have a prop cigar, so that when Lococo vanished, the smoke would be left drifting over the crowd.
** Creator/BillyBobThornton auditioned for the role of Mel Profitt.
** ABC had commissioned a reunion movie in 1996 that was intended as also a possible pilot for a revival series that included the return of Ken Wahl. Unfortunately, Wahl was in constant pain from a 1992 accidentWahl initially claimed it was from a motorcycle accident before later admitting that it was from a fall at his girlfriend's house that temporarily left him a quadriplegic. That, combined with Wahl putting on a noticeable amount of weight during his recuperation, Wahl experiencing some run-ins with the law during this time period and ABC's decision to schedule the reunion movie against Creator/NBC's red-hot "Must See TV" lineup on Thursdays led to the movie getting shredded in the ratings and ended any talk of a revival. The failure of the revival was also partially responsible for Ken Wahl’s retirement from acting.
* WrittenByCastmember: Ken Wahl co-wrote two episodes.
