* {{Corpsing}}: Bob Hilton had a tendency to laugh at the caricatures, and the celebrities' and Bert's/Vicki's reactions to the same. This also happened a lot on road shows if something went amiss during the intro.
* DuelingShows: Against the Barry-Enright adaptation of ''TabletopGame/{{Pictionary}}''.
** Technically the Creator/DisneyChannel revival goes up against Creator/{{Nickelodeon}}'s ''Series/FigureItOut'', though the long gestation period has meant ''[=FiO=]'' has already aired its final episode.
** The Disney Channel revival is up against Nickelodeon's ''Web Heads''.
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: Convy and Weller's episodes reran from 1990 to 1992 on Creator/USANetwork, and only the Convy episodes (season 1 to early season 2) ran from 2002 to 2004 on Creator/{{GSN}}. The NBC version haven't been seen since the original run. Somewhat ironically, Creator/VH1's ''I Love the '80s'' series showed clips of the NBC version...and '''only''' the NBC version.
** Several weeks of the Bert Convy version were missing in action on GSN, possibly due to celebrity clearance issues. Clips of them were shown in early GSN promos. They included Creator/SallyStruthers & Creator/VickiLawrence Vs. Ed Marinaro & Creator/CharlesNelsonReilly, Creator/LoniAnderson & Martha Raye Vs. Creator/BurtReynolds & Charles Nelson Reilly, Creator/EdieMcClurg & Creator/DonnaPescow Vs. Pat [=McCormick=] & Creator/PaulWilliams, and Creator/MarkiePost & Florence [=LaRue=] Vs. Creator/EdBegleyJr & Dack Rambo.
** The only way to see reruns of the 2014 Disney Channel revival is on Website/YouTube or file-sharing sites.
* ThrowItIn: Bob Hilton loved to make ad-libbed quips during the intro, particularly joking at the caricatures of the celebrity guests and sometimes Bert or Vicki's reactions.
* WriteWhoYouKnow: The origin of the series lay in the game nights Burt Reynolds used to hold at his house; the original set was modelled after his living room.
