* ContestWinnerCameo: The contest [[http://www.platypuscomix.net/otherpeople2/chickens3.JPG instigated here]], and the winning submission was "Max, the Skateboarding Bird". He only lasted one week, [[http://www.platypuscomix.net/otherpeople2/chickens25.JPG but he seemed to be intended as a recurring character]].
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: Before the official ''Garfield'' website reran the comic, the majority of the strips were archived [[http://www.platypuscomix.net/otherpeople2/usacres1.html here]], courtesy of PlatypusComix. Now it's only good for the [[http://www.platypuscomix.net/otherpeople2/chickens3.JPG original version]] of the [[http://garfield.com/us-acres/1986-10-13 October 13, 1986 strip]], the covers to the collections and the final few Sunday strips, which Paws has declined to republish.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: There were two characters named [[http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_5wg5WNYACGg/TR5YqKCSCpI/AAAAAAAABqM/vXtuOEhPr6o/s1600/usacresindy1.jpg Chuck the calf and Jodie the horse]] that were marketed but dropped from the strip before it started. Nothing is known about their personalities or why they never appeared.
** ...This is only guessing, but one possible reason Jodie the horse never made it was because in the same year that the strip debuted, 1986, ''Franchise/MyLittlePony'' put out [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyTheMovie its first movie]] and started [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyAndFriends the cartoon series]]. No idea why Chuck never made it, though.
*** The name was probably too morbid. Think about it. [[IncrediblyLamePun Ground Chuck.]]
** Those two characters appeared in the back of the 1991 Annual.
