* AnimeFirst
* Defictionalization: In Japan, there was enough demand for Kotetsu's NiceHat that Sunrise decided they'd just go ahead and sell it. Soon enough, Barnaby's jacket and the Christmas pin were also made into real items.
* ExecutiveMeddling: Splendidly averted. The staff was told to give up on the anime and to make the series about two young guys -- they refused.
* FanCommunityNickname: T&Bros.
* FanNickname: Several.
** "Scarf-tan" for the RecurringExtra who is frequently rescued by the heroes.
** "The Girls' Team" for the trio of Blue Rose, Dragon Kid, and Fire Emblem.
** "Palmface" for Lunatic thanks to the design of his mask and Kotetsu's in-series joke. Unfortunately it turns out to not be as funny a nickname as it initially started out as.
** "Moe Oyaji" for Kotetsu, in reference to his Adorkable OneOfTheKids tendencies (as well as constantly being called "Oji-san" in canon).
** "The catbeard" for Kotetsu's beard, which is shaped like a cat's head.
** And the "crapsuit" for Kotetsu's first outfit (which is actually called a crappy suit in the second episode, and literally a "crap-suit" in the English dubbed version of the same scene).
* FandomNod: Each OnTheNext segment starts with either Kotetsu or Barnaby disclosing an entirely random fact about themselves ("Hi! I'm Kotetsu, the member of Tiger & Bunny who ends up falling for idols he sees in his dreams! / "Hi! This is Barnaby, the member of Tiger & Bunny who owns five pairs of the same glasses!).
* HeyItsThatVoice:
** Kriem is Hungary. In the dub it's Creator/StephanieSheh.
** While the King of Heroes is also the Country of Passion!
** Kotetsu is Sanji.
*** And Balthier! This time, he really IS the leading man!
*** Wait, there's more: He's also Laguna Loire in Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy! Pretty much summed up here.
*** Oh, and Sha Gojyo from for some old-school examples. (Wow, how many years ago has that been?)
** Barnaby gets his Ichigo screaming in later episodes.
*** Fortunately, he doesn't do Tidus' infamous laugh, too.
** Pao-Lin is Stocking in Japan. In the dub she's played by Creator/LauraBailey.
*** She's Meganekko Levy [=McGarden=] of Manga/FairyTail, too.
** Karina is Serah Farron.
*** And for that matter, Tomoe is Lightning... wait, what?
** Nathan/Fire Emblem is Seto Kaiba.
** Ivan/Origami Cyclone is Dean Venture.
*** In Japan, he plays Rin Okumura, as well as Takumi Usui.
** Antonio also plays Zommari Leroux and Edrad Leones from .
** Ben Jackson (Katsuhisa Houki) is Jinbe.
** The title characters are respectively played by Creator/WallyWingert and Creator/YuriLowenthal in the dub.
** It's really weird to hear Creator/SteveBlum as Jake, a person with superpowers campaigning against inferior humans, when just a show away he's an inferior human campaigning against people with elemental superpowers.
*** In Japanese, Jake is Ali and Ladd.
* IKnewIt: Early on, many fans hypothesized that Kaede . Episode 17 proved them right.
**
* Jossed: A popular theory about Barnaby being a robot was proven false. But
* MidDevelopmentGenreShift: Of the first variety. Originally, the series was supposed to be much darker and more morbid in its theme and mood, with heavy drama and tragedy and different personalities for both main characters. The creators later decided to go for a more lighthearted story with an overall comedic theme accompanied by some drama; traces of the aforementioned serious tone can be seen in the second cour.
* NamesTheSame: Sky High and Franchise/FireEmblem.
** Dave Wittenberg voices Doctor Saito. He also voices a familiar Section 9 agent of the same name.
** Ben Jackson was also the name of one of The Doctor's companions in Series/DoctorWho.
* NoExportForYou: The video game-based versions of the show are not exported outside of Asia.
* PlayingAgainstType: Most of Creator/MasakazuMorita's fans were surprised by the fact that he could go from being the seiyuu for HotBlooded shounen characters to voicing a character like Barnaby. Morita himself has expressed surprise that he was cast for the role, and says he sometimes felt that he might not be able to pull it off.
** Same for the dub. Creator/YuriLowenthal, who is known for voicing much younger characters who are more emotional such as Ben Tennyson and Simon the Digger playing a more stoic man in his 20's.
** While her main role in the show, Agnes, is more the kind of character she's known for, Creator/TaraPlatt also plays Samantha, a kindly old woman who was a nanny to Barnaby, who is voiced by her husband.
* TheRedStapler: In Japan, products even tangentially related to the series are selling out -- such as a brand of wine called Brooks that uses an Ouroboros on its label and a brand of cologne with a similarly shaped bottle to one Kotetsu owns.
* RelationshipVoiceActor: With the English voice cast, it seems that Barnaby and Anges' one ShipTease moment will be more ironic since they are voiced by Real-Life married couple Creator/YuriLowenthal and Creator/TaraPlatt.
* ShrugOfGod: Regarding Kotetsu's actual age and the nature of Kotetsu and Barnaby's relationship.
* SleeperHit
* ThrowItIn: When the producers told scriptwriter Masafumi Nishida that he could write the characters any way he wanted, he jokingly asked if one of them could be a photobombing weeaboo. The answer was yes.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** The show was originally going to be called 'Busty and Bunny' (presumably, 'bust' meaning 'destroy'). Of course, then the female producer did some research and found out that they couldn't call him 'Busty', because of the English meaning. Another proposed title was 'Seekers'.
** Kotetsu and Barnaby's powers were originally supposed to be memory manipulation and teleportation, respectively, making "Bunny" more of a MeaningfulName. But it was later decided that the two should be given similar abilities to highlight the differences in their personalities and attitudes. Each also wore the other's outfit, but they were swapped at the request of the director.
** There was a ninth hero proposed early in development called Zen Beast, featuring a SplitPersonality. He was discarded because the creators wanted to have only eight heroes.
** Barnaby was called Barney in concept stages.
** Blue Rose's design was quite different in the PilotEpisode.
