* AllStarCast: While still being a complete aversion of CelebrityVoiceActor, no less! Creator/JasonMarsden, Creator/GreyDeLisle, Creator/PhilLaMarr and Creator/KathSoucie play Tino, Lor, Carver and Tish respectively, as well as many other background characters. Creator/JeffBennett, Creator/RobPaulsen, Creator/TaraStrong and Creator/CreeSummer are among the recurring voice talents.
* AsHerself: Creator/JenniferLoveHewitt in "My Punky Valentine".
* ChannelHop: The show started out on ABC. Episode premieres moved to Creator/{{UPN}} for Season 3. Then ''Creator/OneSaturdayMorning'' (and its UPN companion ''Disney's One Too'') went defunct thanks to the slow, agonizing death of Saturday morning cartoon blocks and the remaining episodes aired on Creator/ToonDisney in 2003.
* CreatorsOddball: Ironically, despite being Doug Langdale's longest-running series at 39 half-hours, it's the most divorced from the slapstick-filled, off-the-wall humor that permeates his other productions.
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: Until March 5, 2013, when Disney released the entire series through the Disney Movie Club. It is not available on [[Creator/DisneyPlus Disney+]] however, still playing this straight.
* PermanentPlaceholder: When he pitched the show, creator Doug Langdale [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZLVdts-3eA did it on the spot at the end of a failing pitch meeting]] and didn't actually give the cartoon a name. When he got the call from Disney that they were greenlighting it, he learned that someone (no one knows who) decided to call it "The Weekenders" as a placeholder title. He even recalls that Michael Eisner loved everything about the show other than the name, so he promised to give it a better one, only to never get around to doing so.
* ScrewedByTheNetwork: Disney put this show on at the same time slot as ''Pokémon'', while the big Pokémon boom was happening. Despite some [[http://variety.com/2000/tv/news/the-weekenders-defeats-pokemon-1117781251/ major]] [[http://nypost.com/2000/05/10/pokemon-has-a-lost-weekend/ publications]] reporting that ''The Weekenders'' actually managed to beat ''Pokemon'' in the ratings race, after the latter had spent ''54 weeks'' in the top spot, networks were ditching their Saturday morning cartoon blocks and, sadly, this show and the entire Creator/OneSaturdayMorning block were on the chopping block.
