* BTeamSequel: Creator/LouisLeterrier who directed or co-directed the first two films (co-directed the first with Corey YuenLetterier is credited as artistic director with Yuen credited as director in the non-French release, while Yuen is credited as action director with Letterier credited as director in the French release before being the sole director of the second), wasn't involved in the third or fourth films. Justified for the third one as he was busy directing Film/2008 at the time.
* ChannelHop: After 20th Century Fox released the first two films internationally, the international rights would later be under Creator/Lionsgate for the third film and franchise owner Creator/EuropaCorp (which handles the French distribution rights) for the fourth film.
* DevelopmentHell: Refueled was set to start a new film trilogy but despite doing moderately well at the box office, critics weren't favourable towards it, thus the planned fifth and sixth instalments have been on hold as a result along with sexual assault accusations against franchise creator Creator/LucBesson and the financial troubles at Creator/EuropaCorp that resulted from Film/ValerianAndTheCityOfAThousandPlanets bombing.
* DyeingForYourArt: Matt Schulze lost a significant amount of weight to make Wall Street look more strung out.
* GayPanic: In the original conception of the movie, Frank was gay. The love scene with Shun Qi was added specifically to draw attention away from any potential remaining vestiges of that aspect in the script.
* SequelGap: Refueled came out seven years after the third film.
* StarMakingRole: This is the film that made Creator/JasonStatham one of the big action stars of today.
* TheOtherDarrin:
** Creator/EdSkrein replaced Jason Statham as Frank in Refueled after negotiations for the latter to reprise his role broke down.
** Chris Vance plays Frank in the TV series instead of Statham.
